News from Playstation blog
Hi everybody, Michael Shorrock, here. I’m the Director of Publisher Relations here at SCEA. I work closely with all of the publishers and developers who create games for all PlayStation platforms. While SCEA had a ton of great announcements at E3, I’m excited to say, we have one more for today, one that I know a lot of you have been asking about:
For the past several months, we have been working closely with Neversoft and Activision, Harmonix and Konami to ensure that PlayStation 3 guitars and drum sets will all feature a basic level of gameplay compatibility.
For the most part, this means that the titles with musical peripherals will work with the other’s software. A few specific examples include: Guitar Hero: World Tour’s guitars and drums will work with Rock Band 2 and Konami’s Rock Revolution software.
And yes, you guessed it, Rock Band 2’s guitar and drum set will work with Guitar Hero: World Tour and with Rock Revolution.
Conversely, Rock Revolution’s drum set will work with both Guitar Hero: World Tour and Rock Band 2.
In addition, Guitar Hero: World Tour and Rock Band 2 will both support the SingStar microphones.
We’re still working hard to ensure compatibility between the Guitar Hero and Rock Band titles currently on the market, and we hope to have an announcement on that shortly.
Of course each of these great games have their own specific cool features that may not be compatible with the other controllers, but this is our first big step in bringing a level of compatibility to music games that is sure to benefit PlayStation 3 consumers.
Keep an eye out here for more information in the future.

Sony has said Quest for Booty, the standalone follow-up to Ratchet & Clank PS3, will only cost GBP 10 - both as a downloadable PSN game and Blu-ray release.
The disc-based version will be available from 12th September. And the PSN offering, as we know, will be out this Thursday.
Quest for Booty is a piratical adventure with popular salty pirate past-times such as chasing treasure, drinking rum, exploring caves and battling robotic baddies lead by Captain Angstrom Darkwater.
The game should last around three to five hours, apparently, and easily looks as impressive as Ratchet & Clank: Future Tools of Destruction.
Look out for our Ratchet & Clank: Quest for Booty review this week.
Meanwhile, splash your way over to our Ratchet & Clank: Quest for Booty gamepage to find out more.

Capcom has dismissed as "absolutely 100 per cent false" suggestions that it is giving up on the PlayStation Portable.
Answering readers' questions on the Capcom-Unity blog, biz-dev VP Christian Svensson said, "We're still making new PSP games."
"We may be the most successful PSP publisher in the world with Monster Hunter Portable 2nd and 2ndG. It'd be a difficult decision to defend stopping development when we have such success on the platform," Svensson added.
The UK Charts may give the impression no one cares about the poor old PSP, but hardware sales are strong in the US and Japan. In July, for example, figures revealed the PSP outsold the Xbox 360.
In Japan, meanwhile, there are regular reports of the PSP outselling all or most of the other platforms week to week thanks to the success of games like Monster Hunter 2ndG and current chart-topper, Phantasy Star Portable.
And despite the lack of regular chart success in Europe, Sony continues to back the format with software initiatives like the GPS wotsit and Go!View, in partnership with Sky, which now benefits from Premiership football highlights.

Online retailers have confirmed that the 80GB PlayStation 3 will go on sale in Europe this Friday.
Previously, SCEE president David Reeves had indicated that the new hardware SKU would launch a week later on August 27.
However, Play.com. Amazon, Gamestation and GAME are all listing the console for August 22, with Sony expected to officially announce the date at Leipzig Games Convention this week.
The 80GB console replaces the current 40GB PlayStation 3, and retails for the same price of GBP 299.

Word of a PSP version of Final Fantasy Agito XIII was one of the biggest pieces of news to come out of the DKS3713 event earlier this month. But unfortunately, the news of the platform shift came without any solid details on the game.
Enter that always-reliable source of Japanese news, Famitsu. A special PS3 version of the weekly gaming magazine has a full report on the show, with some new details that suggest Agito will result in yet another very special Square Enix PSP title.
Speaking with Square Enix's Tetsuyo Nomura and Agito director Hajime Tabata, Famitsu's editors learned that a PSP version of the game was always in the planning, right from the start. The announcement at the event was really just an announcement that the PSP version has taken priority over the mobile version.
The two addressed a few story elements of the game. The DKS3713 Agito trailer (which is currently not available for public viewing) made mention of "Lucy," a word that has been mentioned in connection with other areas of the FFXIII project. As explained by Nomura, this is one of the common points players will find connecting the worlds of the various FFXIII games.
Another term mentioned in the new trailer is PAX CODEX. This is the name of a peace treaty that exists in the Agito world. As Tabata explained, Cid, from a neighboring country, has broken the treaty and sent a Lucy (or possibly multiple Lucies) out in an invasion.
Tabata revealed that the Agito battle system will offer a mix of action and turn-based gameplay, similar to Crisis Core. He suggested that players picture a more developed version of the "super-high-speed ATB" (Active Time Battle) system from Crisis Core.
Different from Crisis Core, whose battles were solo-based, Agito has party-based battles. This, Nomura said to the magazine, gives the battles a different impression.
The party-based battles currently support infrastructure mode, Tabata revealed. Three players can currently form a party over the net. Tabata said that he cannot confirm yet if the final game will have infrastructure mode support, but this is something that Square Enix would like to offer players.
One other area of the battle system mentioned by Tabata involves summons. Plans call for giving players the ability to raise summon beasts and control them in battle.
All this sounds like the makings for a fine addition to the FFXIII saga. Best of all, players throughout the world will get a chance to play now that the title is coming to the PSP.

News from Alek (part of Dark Alex Team, or maybe Dark Alex himself :P
So, at least it's more or less official. We already told when the 03g appeared on the IPL, as well as it did when 02g appeared and the fresh Slim && Lite came into scene.
Some freshly documents that can be found on the FCC webpage shown that Sony decided to send the final testing units to be tested and approved (as well as all the tech on the US has to be done before coming into market if i'm not wrong); and those documents are available.
This, once again, demonstrates that a newer revision is coming into market, a move that might probably harm some consumers that have just bought his/her first Slim, as well as happened when this one appeared.
Those documents include some graphics, statements, and the proper test reports with the (probably not final) characteristics of this psp3k. Obviously, the first thing anyone might have thought is that "hey, firstly they didn't say anything about it when asked, then they denied it, and now what they should say?" Well, this is the proper enterprise act.
What do you think about all this?
ps. All the data on this post can be totally free obtained under the FCC webpage, therefore we don't take any responsibility We are not hosting any document or stuff that can be compromised with Sony corporation or the FCC rights, just making some news and showing what the users think ;P
Are Sony to finally win over the homebrew community with a PSP that stops Homebrew and also Piracy ?
