News/release from Lightalex
Light_AleX has just introduced its Thursday named Count to 1000. The purpose of this homebrew is to stop some kind of timing that scrolls figures in 1000.
Obviously, this is not so simple, the figures march fairly quickly, we must therefore support the right time.
You try!

LTRIGGER backward page RTRIGGER forward page
analogic stick navigation into the page
UP key = zoom in
Dow key = zoom out
X = quit pdf reader
Known bug zoom > 1.7 may crash the homebrew with a enought memory error
zoom < 0 if the bitmap rendere is less than 480x272 garbage on the screen not covered by the bimap
I try the implementation of cpu at hight speed this week-end
fix the garbage
and try to allocate more memory if slim detected
the link for the preview for a slim is
http://www.enterinmydream.info/~saur...df_preview.zip
and for the fat
http://www.enterinmydream.info/~saur...review_fat.zip
see the next discution why a version for fat a another for slim
it's a debug build if the homebrew crash i'm very interested int the 2 or 3 txt files
generated in the folder where the homebrew is launched they give me indication
about the heap space (malloc and free objects ...).
The code for illegal pdfs or endomaged pdf is not tested yet i give in the zip

Anyone who knows me knows i am a massive Star Wars fan, i must have watched each film at least a hundred times (the wife loves that :P) so any Star wars homebrew game is warmly recieved in the wraggy camp.
Heres the release from goumba
For the Star Wars fans, a PSP version of Sabacc, still in progress, however. It took me about a year to get it to this playable point, as I only get about 2 hours a week to work on it.
I know there's some bugs:
- The biggie: It will crash after a few rounds. This is actually caused by a call to strlen at some point, each time from somewhere else in the program. Therefore, it's pretty much random. I haven't had too much time to analyze libc.
- When starting a new round, the text in the middle of the screen which tells you the selected card is not updated.
- Probably other stuff I can't think of right now.
Other issues:
- There's no artwork for the face cards, so all you'll see is the name of the card. Volunteers welcome.
- Menu lacks help. Up/Down to select. X to confirm.

Just wanted to let the fine users of DCEMU know about a new mod on the Jewel Factory forums!
Our site owner Neubit is making incredible progress on his latest PSP Mod, the Arc Reactor UMD Door.
More a mod within itself then a new type of PSP Jewel this incredible modification to the PSP UMD door draws on some cool and yet bizarre materials including PCB sheet.
Neubit is undecided as of now how much further he wants to take it (possibly adding a LED fader chip) but for now this how it looks! Just plain AWESOME!
Be sure to check out the full story which includes progress pics up to this point in the forum topic

Juan Martinez thought he was going to the Adams County Sheriff's Office substation for a tour.
While he was there, the 8-year-old met a police dog and was pretty sure that was the highlight of his day.
Imagine how excited he was when a real-life sheriff walked into the room and told Juan he'd be going home with a new Sony PSP game system and 12 video games to play on it.
A huge grin spread across Juan's face.
Adams County sheriff's deputies pooled their money to buy the device after Juan's was stolen July 31.
Deputy Michael Robbins was matter-of-fact about why he spearheaded efforts to do something nice for a boy he'd never met before.
"He's just a little kid. I don't like bullies," Robbins said. "That's what it seemed like to me, one older kid picking on a little kid.
"We couldn't let the bad guys win."
Police said Juan was visiting a relative's apartment and playing his PSP in a first-floor hallway when Dominic Villanueba, 19, asked the boy to show him how the game worked.
That's when Villanueba took the game and wouldn't return it, police say.
Juan's mother called authorities, but when deputies arrived at Villanueba's apartment, he told them the game "was under my bed, but it's not there anymore."
Villanueba was arrested and accused of theft, but the game system was gone.
Juan said he had played the game every day and losing it made him sad. He has a heart defect and is on the waiting list for a transplant.
Robbins figured he could put a grin back on Juan's face by replacing the system. Other deputies whipped out their wallets to help.

News from Uberjack:
Here’s a preview of the SMS Plus emulator, with adhoc wi-fi gameplay support (ignore the idiotic clicking - it’s caused by the camera’s zoom lens):
As you can see, a large part of the work is done. There are still some things that need polishing, however:
Keeping connection alive when a player exits to the menu, and allowing some basic tasks while in menu
State sync feature, similar to SNES9X TYL
Timing issues
Cheers,
Akop

August 10th, 2008, 02:27 Posted By: FOL
Hi, just thought I would post on the up and coming release of PSPUAE.
Changes for 0.72 are as follows.
FOL's Changes / Fixes.
--------------------------
Changes :-
Dumped all sound bar stereo, no point in other sound modes.
Corrected Makefile error, which lost us some speed.
Add CYCLE_UNIT as option, setting is either 512 (Normal) or 256 (Turbo).
Add Chipset CYCLE_UNIT as a hidden auto switch option, that switches with CPU CYCLE_UNIT option.
Fixed screen going off center when switching off auto zoom and when selecting 4:3.
Add lock for new CPU option, stops accidently pressing option and invoking a hard reset.
Add config option checking to check cycle_unit, screen position, cpu lock and sound delay for old config files.
Add SOUND_DELAY option, this allows us to switch between 1 and 9 ms. (9 ms does speed things up, but causes sound to breakup a little).
Add Hard Reset to Main Menu.
Add Hard Reset to all Quick Configs (stops fetch crash/loop if Cycles set to turbo).
Altered Cycle Turbo, CPU Chipset timing to a higher value (only when using Turbo Cycles).
Dumped Sound Optimise as it did very little and caused crash.
Chilly's Changes / Fixes.
----------------------------
Changes :-
Fix Audio Event time.
Fix Audio delay (FOL, later made this fix an option, so a few more FPS could be gained at the expence of the audio quality).
Fix Home Button Exit crash, if you were in PSPUAE menu.
When cycle unit is changed, pspuae will hard reset instantly.
If KickStart 1.3 is not found it will look for the next available kickstart, with the following name format, KICK205, KICK30 etc etc.
This release (when its ready) should bring it back up to the speed of 0.70, if not slightly faster and smoother when using "Turbo Cycles" and "Chipset" options.
Here's some vids of it running;

Today we’re announcing the expansion of our closed beta test for PlayStation Home to begin at the end of the month.
Later today, the PLAYSTATION Store will be updated with a PlayStation Home theme. By downloading the theme, users are submitting an application to join the PlayStation Home Beta test community. We will be using a variety of criteria including activity on the PLAYSTATION Network to determine eligibility for the Beta community. Existing beta testers have automatically qualified to be part of the expanded beta.
We’re really excited about this milestone and want our most loyal fans to be a part of the evolution of PlayStation Home.
In Europe, SCEE is also beginning their expanded closed beta, directly targeting consumers who have been most active on PLAYSTATION Network and PLAYSTATION Store. SCEE will be in email contact with their PSN audience very shortly.
Let us know what you think.

Nuclear Bit has released a new Flight Homebrew for the PS3, heres the release details:
Hi
I reworked some of my old terrain rendering stuff I used to play around with in the PDA days. It used to be in C on the PDA, now I just did a very quick port to java (not using fixed point arithmetic but floats in stead).
I don't get it as snappy as I want, could be optimized a lot further.
extract the AVCHD folder to some USB storage device and run it
Use the arrow keys to turn and control the speed, use the square and X to change the altitude of the player's view.
the flight2 directory has the source, see how small the actual render routine is. It is a ray caster based on this article : http://www.tecgraf.puc-rio.br/public..._rendering.pdf

If you haven't had enough of Reyvateils in your RPGs, you're in luck: the sequel to Ar Tonelico is coming to North America. NIS America has announced that Ar Tonelico 2 will be released in North America in December 2008, and will combine simulation with roleplaying elements. Set in the floating land of Metafalss, an epidemic called Infel Pira Dependency infects Reyvateils, driving them insane and eventually killing them. A young knight of the Church of Pastalia named Croix is sent to stop the plague, which makes him embark on a large adventure involving the planet of Ar Ciel and the lost Song of Metafalica.
Ar Tonelico 2 will still feature a cosmosphere, which allows players to develop their Reyvateil's by diving into their subconscious, as well as song magic and burst gauges for powerful attacks. In Ar Tonelico 2, players will also have access to a new ability known as Syncrinity, which ties song magic to two Reyvateils in your party. The closer their emotions are to being synched up, the stronger the effects of the magic. This can be affected by an emotion gauge as well, so rooting for your Reyvateils in battle is extremely important.

Sony, where's the justice? How could you mercilessly kill the nine month old PSP Extended Life Battery Kit -- capable of boosting the PSP's play time by up to 80% -- while UMDs continue to be the preferred method of distribution for the system's games and video content (thereby also heavily contributing to the device's juice-drain)? Worse still for Sony, why are we not surprised?

Hi folks!
It has been a while but I have been very busy with getting my masters degree, getting a job in the game development and just working to earn my living. and learned some new tricks
Anyway, I have created three new tutorials on optimization. I have had some questions regarding optimizations and I have optimized my code quite a bit lately, so I thought why not create a tutorial about it. One of them is about using the VFPU
Please keep in mind that I have created most of the optimization tips for beginners so do not complain if it is too easy or if you already know everything
Here they are:
- The tutorial list page
- Optimization: The basics
- Optimization: One step further
- Optimization: Using the VFPU
Hope it is helpful and as always, if you have questions use the form below the tutorials and do not forget to include your email otherwise I cannot answer back
