Gunner54, with the assistance of Hellcat, has released a tool serving a simple yet effective purpose.
As the name suggests, MemoryStick-Tool is a homebrew app supporting several memory stick related functions: format or repair a corrupt stick, create folders, dump the memory stick MBR and/or sectors.

Square Enix seems like one of the strong PSP supporters with the recent announcement of the 3rd Birthday and Final Fantasy Agito XIII shifting from mobile phones to the PSP. However, just a few weeks ago at E3 there weren’t many PSP titles shown. Resistance: Retribution was the most notable announcement from the show and the title Sony Computer Entertainment America seemed most excited about. The reminder of this year’s PSP forecast looks light on the games and this isn’t limited to North America. Even in Japan where the PSP remains immensely popular, thanks in part to Monster Hunter, it feels like retail releases are dwindling.
For further examination I put together a set of graphs with the number of released retail games by a handful of publishers throughout the PSP’s life to date. Before we get to the data, please note most of this data is based on games published in Japan. The exceptions to this rule are Electronic Arts, Ubisoft, and Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) which use data based on the number of games published in North America. Pre-merger data for Namco and Bandai were added together to create the Namco Bandai number. Also the 2008 figure has been marked with an asterisk since it is only representative of games announced for a 2008 release to date. For example Dissida: Final Fantasy, Garnet Chronicle, and Patapon 2 were counted in the 2008 figure. Yuusha no Kuse ni Namaikida Or 2 was not since Sony has not announced a release date or window to the public. The 2008 number may, and probably will, change.
While giants like Electronic Arts seem to be looking elsewhere niche publishers like Irem are sticking with the PSP. This year Irem, the developers of R-Type Command, will publish three games for Sony’s handheld. This is not an insignificant number considering Irem sometimes only releases three games in a single year. Global A (not shown on the graph) is also continuing to support the PSP with simulation/RPG hybrids like Chuumon Shiyouze! Oretachi no Sekai and Acquire just published Ken to Mahou to Gakuen Mono.
The well of games has not run dry, but the downward slope seen in 2007 is notable. In 2008 development seems to be sloping upwards, a good sign considering we're only partially through the year. However, seeing the lack of first party releases from Sony Computer Entertainment Japan is alarming.

Rocketboom, the daily video blog, is turning over its distribution and ad sales to Sony Pictures Television in return for a seven-figure guarantee plus a share of revenues. Rocketboom will be distributed on Sony's Crackle video site, as well as across other Sony platforms such as the PS3, PSP, and Bravia I-Link TVs.
Rocketboom founder Andrew Baron says he went with Sony because of Sony's distribution strengths and the deal allows him to maintain control of the business. (Whereas selling the business to another media buyer, such as WallStrip did to CBS a year ago for $5 million, would have required him to give up his baby). The deal is structured as a distribution and advertising deal, and sounds like it could lead to a closer relationship or outright sale if things go well. But if they don't, Rocketboom would regain complete control of distribution and ad sales after the contract expires.
Rocketboom's current distribution through YouTube, iTunes, Tivo, and elsewhere will remain intact. Sony will sell ads across those distribution channels as well. Baron claims more than Rocketboom is watched more than one million times a month across all channels, and sometimes spike to several million views. But as one of the first Web video shows, Rocketboom has always been better at creating videos than at selling ads.

Holy mother of God, this must be the worst ripoff for a PSP ive ever seen, myheart goes out to the woman.
From Electric New Paper article
HER 12-year-old daughter wanted to buy a Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP) to share with her friends.
Nicole said that she was overcharged for a Sony PSP that she had bought at a Lucky Plaza shop. -- Picture: ADELINE ONG
On 12 July, a 41-year-old sales assistant, who wanted to be known only as Nicole, went with her daughter to shop for one at Lucky Plaza.
After checking with several shops, she found out that the price ranged between $300 and $600.
She told The New Paper that she went to a shop owned by Yeow Tat Trading Enterprises. She said that the sales assistant there was polite and helpful, and helped her daughter to choose a black-tinted PSP.
He advised Nicole to upgrade the software on the PSP, explaining that this would allow her daughter to play more games as well as surf the Internet, among other things.
When Nicole asked him how much the games cost, he told her that they were free of charge.
He added that she only needed to pay for the PSP and licence for software upgrading.
He then took the PSP away to download the games and upgrade the software, she said.
He returned 15 minutes later with the PSP and the bill - a whopping $3,550.
Said Nicole: 'I was shocked. I thought he had written an extra zero by mistake.
'I told him that if the upgraded PSP was going to cost as much as a laptop, I might as well get my daughter a laptop.'
Nicole said that her daughter agreed that the PSP was too expensive, and said she didn't want it anymore.
But the sales assistant told her that it was too late as he had already downloaded original software onto the PSP and the licences were costly.
AGREED TO REDUCE PRICE
He agreed to reduce the price to $3,100, but Nicole said it was still too expensive.
He then offered reduce it further to $2,610, saying that he wouldn't include anti-virus software.
When Nicole insisted that she didn't want it, he said she still had to pay for the licences of the downloaded games, which would cost $2,000.
Said Nicole: 'Although it was crazy that I had to pay $2,000 for nothing, I thought that I could not expect the shop to pay for the licences.
'I couldn't walk away as it would be irresponsible of me.'
She asked him why other shops sold PSPs for between $300 to $600.
'He claimed that the PSPs they were selling were different because the licences for the software were not original.'
Convinced by the shop assistant, she paid $2,600.
But her brother told her that night that she had paid too much.
They went back to the shop the next day and asked to see the licences for the software, but were told it was confidential.
The shop insisted it did not overcharge Nicole, but agreed to waive the service charge.
After lengthy negotiations, the price came down to $1,400. But Nicole insisted the maximum she would pay was $1,000.
She got her way and received a $1,600 refund.
'It was still very expensive but I did not want to waste time,' she said.
She later went to the Consumers' Association of Singapore but was told that because she had agreed to pay $1,000, it could not pursue the matter further.
'All the while, the sales assistant had an innocent face, and was helpful and appeared sincere,' she said.
She added that she was not intimidated into paying.
When contacted, Yeow Tat Trading Enterprises declined to comment.
'My friends all say I'm so stupid,' Nicole said.
Ouch :P, Gotta say she was a bit of a fool

Sony Computer Entertainment America's Scott Steinberg has told GamesIndustry.biz that the company has no desire to mimic Nintendo's strategy to hook in the older demographic of people who have never played videogames before - because by getting PlayStation 2 users to upgrade to PlayStation 3 will give them a "hands-down" next-gen victory.
"I think the reality is that we will win hands-down if we convert the PS2 owners to PS3," he said. "When we look at the total available market, we salivate at the notion of converting our existing PS2 universe.
"Every million units we drop into the PS2 is an annuity that's going to pay out later on for PS3 upgrades, and we've got some interesting ideas on how to reach out to those PS2 owners in the US and convert them up.

Our ears are so close to the ground they're all mossy. Highly placed sources told VG247 today that the real reason for Phil Harrison's departure from Sony was that work is now starting on PS4 and deja vu was setting in.
"He could see he was about to get involved in another PlayStation cycle, and obviously wanted something new," we were told. "The same thing was happening again and he'd been through it enough times to want to move on."

It looks like trophies are all the rage on the Playstation 3 these days. Following news of trophy arrivals on Uncharted, and details on the Bioshock trophies, comes word that Warhawk's trophies will be hitting on Aug. 27 as part of a free download.
The Warhawk update 1.5 will include more than 50 tophies to unlock based on performance, modes, weapons, vehicles and expansion packs. Some will even work retroactively, meaning you won't need to reearn them.
Here's a run down of the example Warhawk trophies listed over on the UK Playstation site. Keep in mind this is all on the UK site, so it's not clear when this will be hitting the U.S. and other regions.
Community Building Trophies
- Bandwidth Donor: Host a ranked dedicated server for four consecutive hours.
- Rivalry: Win a clan match (red server) as either clan leader or a regular member.
Game Mode Trophies
- Lone Wolf: Play a perfect Deathmatch (first place, no deaths).
- Survivalist: Survive for one minute as the hero in Hero mode.
Vehicle Trophies
- Taxi Driver: Help a teammate capture the flag (in Capture the Flag) or cores (in Collection) by transporting him back to the base, using any vehicle.
- One In A Million: Shoot down an enemy aircraft using the tank's main cannon.
Warhawk Weapons Trophies
- How Did You Do That?: Destroy an enemy aircraft with a Cluster Bomb.
- Tail Shaker: Destroy an enemy aircraft with an Aerial Mine within five seconds of deploying it.
The new update will also add 20 new aircraft paint schemes, 50 new insignias, a playable training tutorial and support for custom music tracks from the Home menu. Home menu support, expanded Home beta? Home must really be getting close to hitting.

News/release from Hellcat:
H E L L C A T s R e c o v e r y F l a s h e r
========================= ========================= =====
* recover semi-bricks * up-/downgrade your CFW *
* flash *ANY* CFW directely to 3.71-M33 *
all without Pandora
========================= ========================= =====
[ D*O*W*N*L*O*A*D ]
What is this? And why?
========================= ===============
Short version:
--------------------
- Flashes a fresh 3.71-M33 - for recovering semi-bricks or to
up-/downgrade CFW
- does not use Pandora, runns from the recovery menu or the XMB
- does not use (as in launch) the original Sony Updater (only extracts
all required files from the original .PBP)
- runns fine on CFWs lower than 3.52-M33-3 - handy for upgrading older
FWs w/o the "need to go 3.52, then 3.52-3, then higher" odyssey :-)
- runns fine from TimeMachine (3.40-OE on Fat and 3.60-M33 on Slim)
- can backup the FW flash and restore selected parts (XMB theme,
settings, PSN activation)
Long version:
--------------------
Back in the 1.50 based CFW days (up to 3.52-M33) the option "Launch
EBOOT at /PSP/GAME/RECOVERY/" was a very handy thing for recovering
semi-bricks or downgrading your PSP - in short, to repair or
completely re-flash your PSP.
Since the 3.xx (or higher) based CFWs this option became obsolete due
to missing apps that could run and do their job from there.
Here comes the rescue ;-)
Designed as a native 3.xx+ app, to run from the recovery menu's option
from recent CFWs on Fat and Slim PSPs - however, you can perfectly run it
from the XMB as well.
On 1.50 based CFWs (3.52 and lower) you must run it from the XMB,
since the recovery menu on those CFWs launches the EBOOT in 1.50 kernel,
but it uses systen calls not available from there.
You can perform the following actions:
- Flash a fresh 3.71-M33 (-1) to recover a semi-brick or to downgrade.
- Make a backup of all FW related flash content (filewise, flash0-3,
i.e. FW, settings, PSN store activation, e.t.c., it's not a NAND dump!)
- Restore various parts of the FW flash (VSH/XMB theme, settings, PSN
store activation....)
When installing a fresh 3.71 you can choose to reset all settings as
well, or to keep them if you know there's nothing wrong with them.
So the recovered/downgraded PSP can still have all your settings! :-)
All of theese functions also work from a 3.60 booted via TimeMachine!
NOT from a 3.40-OE though.... (that also counts for any FW bellow 3.52-
M33-3 installed in the NAND)
Why 3.71? Why not a lower or higher FW?
========================= ===============
One purpose of this app is to downgrade the CFW of the PSP.
I define downgrading much as "go as low as you can" and 3.71 is the
lowest firmware that runns on both PSPs, Fat and Slim.
From there then, you have the freedom of upgrading to any other FW
you desire - thus no higher one for this.
Installation
========================= ===============
Painless and easy:
Copy the RECOVERY folder from the archive to /PSP/GAME/ on your
memstick, so that you get a /PSP/GAME/RECOVERY/ folder containing the
apps EBOOT on your stick.
Now copy the official Sony 3.71 Update EBOOT, renamed as 371.PBP, into
the RECOVERY folder as well.
Done :-)
Usage
========================= ===============
After launching the app, either from the recovery menu or via the XMB
you'll eventually get into the mainmenu.
Everything should be pretty selfexplanatory, you can flash a new
firmware, make a complete flash0 to flash2 backup or restore certain
things from your backup.
What else?
========================= ===============
Well, that's pretty much it.
Here's some additional credits that should be noted:
- PSAR extraction is based on the M33 NEWPSARDumper - with lots of
modifications though.... (libpsardumper.prx and pspdecrypt.prx are
used for the actual extraction and crypto parts)
- IPL flashing routines are currently by DAX (iplupdate.prx)
(planning on getting my own code working for that part....)
- I have to thank the following people VERY MUCH for their hints, help
and patient answers to all my questions - without those, the creation
of this program would have taken a year longer (or two ;-)):
* JumpR * cory1492 * jas0nuk * all the other devs on LAN.ST *
I hope you enjoy using this as much as I did making it :-)

kurokaze has posted and released in our PSP Development forum the following:
I'm not really a programmer, but I've just become obsessed with getting my PSP-on-monitor setup looking nice, so I'm hard at work on a modification to RemoteJoy to run OpenGL shaders (specifically working with those designed for Pete Bernert's PSX OpenGL2 plugin) in order to provide a fast-performing good-looking alternative to RemoteJoy ResizeMod's ugly scaling and vaseline-smear dog-slow antialiasing mode.
Not all the included shaders seem to work. I don't have time to fix this right now but I wanted to get this up so I can download it elsewhere.
**CHANGELOG**
0.2.0
-Added GUI frontend
-Added all of Guest(r)'s shader pack
-Changed default shader from 'bloom' to 'AA Guest 2.0 Bloom' (same shader, new name)
-Reimplemented console

Hey guys,
I've been out of the scene for sometime now and I came across an old project of mine that I never really got around to finishing..
Yes its Halo Zero for PSP written in LUA script by me (V3N0M) Now before you get your hopes up this is a few hours of work I had put into this game a long time ago and figured since I wont be around too much anymore I should release it. Understand that this release is extremely buggy and only purpose is to show that work was done on the game although unfinished.
I will be attending college here in the fall, I've got a great girlfriend that supports me in everything I do and other plans for the future. So life is kinda hectic at the moment but enough about my personal life :rofl:
I've grown and learned a lot this past year so if there is demand for it I might pick this project back up and rewrite the code in C anything but LUA!!! Its a nice scripting language but a very limited one at that!
