Capcom has kicked off this morning's Leipzig media explosion with a new Resident Evil 5 trailer and eight (count 'em) screenshots.
The potential game of the year 2009 was recently dated for yes - 2009. Friday, March 13, 2009 to be exact - and that's a simultaneous North America and Europe release as well.
As expected co-op was also confirmed to be a major feature of the fifth game, which to be honest has us a bit concerned over the quality of the single-player experience. Looks a bit like Resi 4 in places doesn't it?
Don't bugger it up, Capcom. Please don't bugger it up.

Sony has introduced EyePet for PS3, a "magical application" in the words of Sony Europe boss David Reeves, which is due out next year.
EyePet allows you to adopt a virtual pet and then stroke and play with them, or draw toys for them to muck about with.
During an on-stage demo during Sony's Games Convention conference, we saw a "monkey-dog thing" (good reporting, Ellie) in action.
Apparently the player drew a car on a bit of paper and the monkey thing coloured it in, and then by pressing a button the PS3 controller it turned into a real car.
They also showed Heavy Rain, though, so you don't have to kill yourself yet.

Sony has taken the wrappers off a new downloadable music and video service called Vidzone, which is different to the US online video store and due out in 2009. The proper video store is still happening, apparently.
Vidzone is a free service designed to offer "easy access" to "music on demand". You'll be able to build and save a music library, make your own playlists and access it remotely via PSP.
You'll also be able to download ringtones to your mobile phone "for a very small fee" according to Sony Europe boss David Reeves.
Apparently there are two discrete services in PAL markets for music and movies. Vidzone will launch in Q1 next year. The Music download service for PSP and PS3 will launch in Q3 2009. They're targeting 23 PAL territories. We don't really understand the details either - we'll clarify when we can.
As for the proper video store, where you can buy and download movies, Reeves said that it will launch next year, as announced during E3.

We're just a few minutes removed from Sony's press conference at the German Games Convention, and the news is just starting to sink in. Although the announcement of the PSP-3000 probably grabbed most people's attention with its new LCD screen and built-in microphone, it was one of the bundle details that caught our eyes.
The 4GB Memory Entertainment Pack will pack a PlayStation Network voucher for Everyday Shooter. Since when was Everyday Shooter for the PSP?
"Unlike traditional arcade shooters, in Everyday Shooter each on-screen interaction is a note, chord, or riff that plays in harmony with each level's unique music track," a Sony press release said. "The title is available for PlayStation 3 and will be making its debut for PSP. Download Everyday Shooter for PSP from PlayStation Store to your Memory Stick PRO Duo with the included voucher."
Hmm. Interesting. The 4GB pack is set for a debut "later this year," so we imagine that's the release date for Everyday Shooter as well. Stay Tuned.

At this point, there probably isn't much left to say about MotorStorm: Pacific Rift. The game's getting ever-so-close to release, and we're certain that Jem will walk away from this newest build just as impressed as we were at E3.

Towards the end of Konami's Games Convention 2008 press conference this morning, while certain members of the press were slowly inching towards the door, Head of Product Planning for Konami Digital Entertainment Dave Cox to the stage to present a brand new 3D action title for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, Lords of Shadow. The press release describes it as as a dark fairy tale, an epic battle between good and evil, and a stunning new action-adventure IP. You play as Gabriel, a mysterious protagonist on a journey to discover the true meaning of Christmas> self-sacrifice. Sounds like fun, in a vague sort of way.
The trailer itself featured the main character, seen above, looking all tense and powerful, and some giant critter showing up. This is the way of early trailers.
As we excited the press conference we were given a little bundle filled with cards featuring art from the game, which I will post in a gallery below for your enjoyment. Lords of Shadow is due out in 2010.

This morning Sony Computer Entertainment of Europe announced the new 160GB Playstation 3 for Europe. The Playstation Blog just confirmed that the system will also be coming to the states in November as part of a new limited-edition bundle that will include the console and a copy of Uncharted: Drake's Fortune for $500.
The bundle will also include a voucher for PAIN and a Dualshock 3 wireless controller. While I appreciate the increased harddrive size, I don't see it as big a deal with the PS3 since swapping out the drive yourself is so simple.

The PlayStation 3 version of SingStar is about to get a massive boost in track department, as Sony has announced that a future firmware update will allow for the ripping and playing of SingStar tracks from PlayStation 2 versions of the game. SCEE president David Reeves didn't go into too many detals on the 'how' and 'when,' but we have a feeling the 'why' is that they want the many SingStar devotees in Europe to graduate to the PlayStation 3 sequel to SingStar.
That means the PlayStation 3 will play your forthcoming SingStar: Singalong With Disney tracks just fine. Go on, pick it up. You know you want to.

Midway announced, in a roundabout way, four more additions to the cast of Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe at the Leipzig Games Convention today. After Ed Boon left the stage, having been properly grilled by German personality Oliver Pocher, four images flashed on screen, quickly confirming more of the MK vs. DC line up. On the DC side, Wonder Woman will clash with Deathstroke (aka Deathstroke the Terminator), who joins the short list of known DC Universe bad guys.
On the Mortal Kombat side, two from the original cast return as Raiden and Kano — both of whom bear a striking resemblance to their Mortal Kombat III versions — round out the "greatest hits" cast.

Here's an update on the upcoming James Bond game for the PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, and PC.
via Kotaku
Daniel "New James Bond" Craig and Judi Dench are among the talent signed on to lend their voices to Activision's upcoming James Bond game, Quantum of Solace.
Other voice talent coming to the game from the film franchise includes Mathieu Amalric as villain Dominic Greene, Eva Green as Vesper Lynd, Mads Mikkelsen as Le Chiffre and Ukrainian actress Olga Kurylenko as Camille, 007’s leading lady. The upcoming game will be based on both the “Quantum of Solace” and “Casino Royale” feature films, and will allow gamers to "become a more lethal, gritty and cunningly efficient Bond."
“Quantum of Solace represents a new era for James Bond video games, allowing players to step into the role of Daniel Craig’s 007 agent as embodied in ‘Casino Royale’ and the upcoming Bond film,’” said Mark Lamia, Studio Head for Treyarch. “With the tremendous support we’ve received from the film studio and unprecedented access to the key talent from the movie, we are thrilled to be able to deliver a true, more exciting Bond universe to gamers and fans who have waited years for this game.”
Full release after the jump.

Home looks nice enough, but it also looks a little...bland. I can wander around aimlessly playing games in my living room, I don't need to log onto my PS3 to do it! But an adults-only section? That sounds much more enticing. Home boss Peter Edward has told ICGamers that, while there won't be any such areas when the service first launches, "in the long-term, we expect to see them". Don't go expecting some kind of Second Life-ish wang fest, however, as adult areas are more likely to introduce things like gambling and 18+ movie trailers. No reason it can't go the other way, either - if Sony can restrict access to areas of Home based on a user's age, they can just as easily create kids zones crammed to the brim with over-excited 11 year-old boys and junk food commercials.

MAP MAKING RULES/TIPS
- Make sure you have a 1 somewhere in your map so that the player has a spot to spawn.
- The three things you must have beneath your map are; The name of your level, the type of skin to be used, and the camera type.
- The name can be whatever you wish, just make sure it is surrounded by quotation marks.
- The skin must also be surrounded by quotation marks. You can easily make your own textures and place it in a folder inside of the textures folder. Check the testing level as an example.
- If cameraType is 0, the map is stationary and will not move Eg) level 1.
- If cameraType is 1, the map will follow your player, but only horizontally. Eg) In level 4.
- If cameraType is 2, the entire map will follow your player. Eg) In the 2nd level bonus level.
- Don't worry about the user falling off of your map on the sides. There is an 'invisible box' on both the left and right sides of your map which prevent the player from falling off on those sides.
- Place your custom maps in the levels/custom/ folder. This way they can easily be accessible from the 'Bonus' menu in game.
