For your viewing pleasure we have some Socom: Confrontation screenshots. Hey at least come October you won't have to play the game your knees. Maybe this is a bad batch of scans but these screens well, don't look very PS3 like. Regardless, the game will focus on online play and like most Socom games, should be a blast.

The combination isn't exactly the most obvious, but hey, I'm a gamer, and hey, I like paying $5 a glass for a pretentious beer that tastes identical to Budweiser. The Stella Artois PSP was manufactured in a limited edition for the Fosters employees who'd be brewing the "import" in Australia for Australia—part of the official "please don't spit in our delicate European beer" bonus

Following the Leipzig unveiling, Incognito has dated, priced and detailed, in painstaking, um, detail, the third Warhawk expansion pack, Operation: Fallen Star. An update on PlayStation.Blog has the exhaustive breakdown, but let's scroll down to the good part: "Operation: Fallen Star is being released on August 28th worldwide [this Thursday!] and is $7.99 in the PlayStation Store." In addition, a new "Booster Combo Pack" will combine all three Warhawk expansions into a tidy $15.99 download, making the complete Warhawk experience just $46 through the PS Store.
And, in case you missed it, we've embedded an encore presentation of the Fallen Star trailer after the break. Did someone say, rocket packs?

There was (and still is) plenty of buzz surrounding StreetskaterFU's recent hack that enabled Blu-ray games to be played back from the PlayStation 3's internal hard drive, and now it seems like details are beginning to seep out. Fellow hacker ATOC has released an admittedly sketchy step-by-step guide for getting a number of backups to boot from the PS3, though it has only been thoroughly tested on Warhawk and Call of Duty 3. Hit up the links below for instructions, but think long and hard before you make any irreversible decisions and come dangerously close to destroying the universe.

Home's been with us as a concept for quite some time now. Since early 2007, actually. And here we are, in August 2008, and it's still not out. Will it ever come out? Yes. Will it be out this year? If you'd have asked us that last week, we'd honestly have said "eh, probably not", but now, the prognosis is a little more up-beat. Martijn Van der Meulen, a member of Home's development team, has told IGN "it is a 100 percent guarantee that Home will be released by the end of this calendar year". 100%? Dude seems pretty certain. There's no wiggle room in 100%.

Hello !
I have released a new version of PSP-Maps.
This version contains mostly bug fix, since there were many new features in version 1.3.
Now the "get directions" menu works properly, so if you are lost but near a WiFi hotspot you can still find your way
Also, you can now give names to the favorites.
I have made a small video to introduce the features of PSP-Maps, since my previous video was a bit outdated:
http://royale.tiblog.fr/aout-2008/ps...ion-video.html
This version is available on my website: http://royale.zerezo.com/psp/
Or as usual in attachment to this thread.

Kicking around the internet, so thought I’d bring them in to here for some thoughts.
The first thing, as I mentioned in Show #77, is that this is the same physical size and control layout as the PSP Slim and Lite (PSP-2000 model). While I think some will ask for another analouge stick to provide some games with alternative control options, I’m glad that they’ve stayed with the same layout - it means developers have compatibility all the way back to the PSP-1000 and can address some 41 million PSP’s out there.
The addition of the microphone will help the promotion not just of Skype, but in game voice as well - something that I think will come to prominence over the next 18 months or so if the developers make good use of it.
The big change is to the display, with a brighter screen that should update faster. I do wonder what this is going to do to the battery life, with the 3000 still using the same 1200mah battery as the previous version, but I can’t wait to try this out and about. Finally, there’s a tweak to the video out chips, which will allow more TV’s (in more hotels around the world that I visit) to take the TV cable.

Dontcha just love it when top execs start commenting on someone else's financials? Opinionated Acclaim chief David Perry ain't above it, in fact he used his keynote address at the Games Convention Developer's Conference to declare that Sony will never make real dough off the PlayStation 3, 10-year plan or no.
"Because of the cost of making the PlayStation 3 and because they sold it at a loss, Sony basically has pretty much no chance of making money on the PS3, because it's lost more money than they made during the entire peak of the PlayStation 2 — it's not going to happen again for Sony."
He went on to say that a PlayStation 4 coming out in the next eight or so years would be a bad idea. "If they release the PlayStation 4 and have an even more expensive console and raise the cost of games by ten dollars, that would not be good."
Thus, Perry said, this 10-year-plan for the PS3 is a long-term bid to wring out as much money to pay for the console's development, since the pricing and sales so far haven't done it. "This is going to force them to make the PS3 last longer and they're kind of positioning to do that," he said.

Phoenix Game Engine (PGE) is a fully featured engine for game development written by InsertWittyName and MK2k.
PGE Lua is the Lua wrapper of that engine.
-= FEATURES =-
pge.controls - Handling button and analog input.
pge.dir - Directory access and file system operations that deal with directories.
pge.file - File access and file system operations that deal with files.
pge.font - TrueType font loading and drawing.
pge.gfx - Graphic primitives drawing.
pge.math - VFPU math module.
pge.mp3 - MP3 playback for background music.
pge.net - Net and socket functions.
pge.texture - Image loading and drawing.
pge.timer - Timer module.
pge.usb - USB functions.
pge.utils - Utility functions for using the dialogs and retrieving system information.
pge.wav - WAV loading and playback for sound effects.
pge.zip - ZIP file access and extraction.
PGE Lua uses a port of the latest Lua release 5.1.4, which has been optimised specifically for the PSP.
PGE Lua comes with 23 fully commented samples demonstrating how each module is used.
Alongside that, full documentation is available via the homepage: http://pge.luaplayer.org/
There is an emulator for PGE Lua which runs on Windows, Linux, OSX and allows PSP-less development. This is almost complete and will be released at that time.
-= VIDEOS =-
Low resolution:
-= INSTALL =-
Copy the 'pgelua' folder to PSP/GAMEXXX/ (or PSP/GAME/ if your kernel is set to 3xx/4xx in the recovery menu).
-= KNOWN ISSUES =-
None as of this writing. With this being an initial release I would expect there to be a few undiscovered bugs. Let us know.
-= HOMEPAGE =-
http://pge.luaplayer.org/
-= CONTACT =-
tias_dp@hotmail.com
-= DOWNLOAD =-
http://pge.luaplayer.org/lua/downloads/pgelua_001.zip
-= CREDITS & GREETS =-
Coded in pure C and asm using the homebrew PSPSDK.
Thanks to TyRaNiD for psplink, which was used extensively in debugging.
Thanks to all in #psp-programming on freenode.net, where quality homebrew is produced. Special thanks to those in #lua who know so much about Lua it scares me.
Personal thanks to romero126 and Soulkiller, who tested, provided feedback and helped me steer PGE Lua to where it is.
Massive thanks to Raphael and Tomaz - the work we did on triEngine helped me really understand what an engine is.
Biggest thanks to MK2k for joining the project midway through development and making it much more than I ever expected.
-= NOTES =-
Please be aware that this is not Lua Player.
PGE Lua is it's own product and shares zero code with Lua Player.
For the C developers, the C API of Phoenix Engine will be released in due course, shortly.
PGE has been in development for over a year, it's not some mis-match of code copied from other people. This is the real deal.
There are lots more plans in store for PGE and PGE Lua, a roadmap will be released shortly showing the expected development.
-= SUPPORT =-
For further help that is not supplied by the samples or documentation, there are forums for PGE at http://pge.luaplayer.org/.
We are also on IRC, channel #psp-programming on irc.freenode.net, for one-to-one help.
-= UPDATE =-
Version 0.02 has been released.

And that comes from SCE Development. In PlayStation's Europe message board, he says the producer who spoke yesterday was confused when he said LittleBigPlanet would be region-locked. All shared levels will be available in the game worldwide. Verbatim from Sony:
Hi all, as many of you may have heard already in an interview at Leipzig the senior producer for LittleBigPlanet announced that the game is region locked. This is in fact not the case, and all shared levels in the game will be available worldwide. The confusion arose out of regional differences in how moderation will work as there are different legal rules each region have to play by, and at one point this looked like it may require the game to be independent in each region - however this has been worked around and there will only be one region for the game.... a LittleBigRegion.
Apologies for any confusion over this issue, however I'm pretty sure you're happy with the result.
