News/release from Cladil
Hi everyone!
I present my game, LightWay established by the Motion Studio. This is a shoot'em up originally for PSP but declined to use the computer. It includes a playable adventure as a two players comprising 12 levels (not including bonus levels) but also online with a friend with an Internet connection.
Motion Studio:
-Pjeff (encoder)
-Cladil (GFX)
Stifpsp thank you for beta-testing demo! And Pseudo have to imagine the scenario and help the imagination of levels!
I. Scenario
The scenario is more a pretext than real history. Cinematic refer throughout the adventure. Here's the synopsis:
"In a distant world, war rages between light and darkness.
The shiny crystals, huge rocks projecting light and life to the most remote dying. The Luminous beings born of these crystals, suffer from the onslaught of darkness, creatures from the shadow that is gradually worldwide. Their relentless rise will lead to the destruction of crystals and thus the end of Luminous.
You are one of the last hopes of your people. You must leave your own and begin a journey to the crystals to turn and push back the darkness. "
II. Vessels
Your first ship. Fairly basic, but it is handy little tough. It will rely on your agility and fire power to survive in this conflict.
The Armubble is released when you complete the first solo mode.
How to unlock it and its effects remain unclear (even for the development team ...).
As you progress, the enemy units will change also. The Vflyer, present in the early levels is gradually replaced by a stronger enemy and so on. It nevertheless find some basic vessels at special levels where they are extremely numerous.
III. Gameplay
The controls are intuitive and classic:
• The cross directional to move
• X to make (or E (2) computer)
• R to rotate (or - (6) on computer)
• L to display the lives of boss (or '(4) computer)
A level can be divided into two phases: a long journey punctuated by enemies and a duel against the boss.
The gameplay is changing: each level will bring a change, more or less important, how to play. Thus, the level 3 for example, you will fight with allies, 7 is much faster than others, 8 will require you to destroy a particular type of vessel ... etc.
IV. Soon
New systems are currently in programming for the next level.
One of the most interesting of the game lies in the formation of a group of Luminous. You order your allies, then you can split into three courses:
• Training offensive: your allies then placed in front of you and shoot at will.
• Training neutral: your allies are placed on each side of your ship.
• Training defensive: your allies put behind you and attack when you are being targeted.
Better still, each student can launch an attack cluster overpowering! By getting a piece of crystal shining, you unlock a landfill titanic energy for the offensive formation, a blinding flash which prevents enemies from attacking for a few seconds for training and a neutral vortex formed by your allies around you that you protecting while attacking the defensive formation.
Level 4 will show a kind of atypical enemy: the vessel wall-or Wallshield. This blocks the player must destroy to move by attacking the weak point in his armor.
New weapons also appear as a missile launcher and a homing laser crystal able to shatter a row of enemies.
V. Conclusion

News via PSPImages
Good news for the gamers who have not yet updated their PS3 firmware.
The Japanese homebrew programmer Mario has released a Gameboy Emulator for the Playstation 3.
The emulator has been programmed in BD-J code, a form of JAVA, which is normally used for advanced Blu-ray menus. The emulator is a bit slow and there is not much sound but it 's easy and works very well.
Instructions:
1 Download the emulator
2 Place the AVCHD on an USB drive (use FAT32)
3 Place the drive in the USB port of the PS3
4 Select the drive and start the AVCHD folder from VIDEO
5 Choose a game.
You can use the triangle button to select the numbers 0-9. The zip is packed with a few homebrew roms to try out but it 's easy to add other roms.

The latest firmware update “Sony PS3 2.50” added many great features to all of our Playstation 3’s, but we are also getting many reports of problems as well. The main problem with the latest update seems to be related to the DivX VOD addition.
Some users have video displaying in black and white, although it worked fine before updating. You can read some of the problems users have reported below, feel free to share a comment once reading.
If you have video on your HD don’t get if you have an SD TV unless you like black and white, I found out the hard way.
I downloaded 2.50 yesterday, i also have same problem with my videos showing only in black and white plus small difference in sound. I really hope that Sony fixes this bug fast, because this is not what i paid for. Also I’m very disappointed over the freezing of GTA IV still not fixed.
It’s completely stopped my current DivX movies from working correctly! (Black and white, funny lines at the top of my screen) i didn’t pay R6000 for this. What gives?
About 100gb of films i have are now black n white…not Alfred Hitchcock ones either ones from my pc through media server and avi files on disc do the same, yet b4 update they worked fine.
Since the update some of my mpeg videos are in black and white both from the hdd and DVD. Any word on solutions yet?

Capcom has been one of the most prolific publishers of downloadable titles for PSN and XBLA for a while now -- with notable games Bionic Commando Rearmed and Mega Man 9 hitting digital store shelves earlier this fall. To reward them for their tireless productivity, Sony is giving the publisher their own Capcom-branded storefront on the PlayStation Store. The first of what Sony hopes will be many "publisher portals", this dedicated page will feature the company's games, setting them apart from the rest of the pack. The storefront will open in November -- perhaps, some have postulated, in sync with Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix.

New from Bubbletune & Davee
In 5.00 Sony took a different approach by no longer storing the floats in seperate words, but instead loading them using opcodes. This has made it harder to impossible for theme developers to find these floats, so we've decided to develop a tool to take it apart, and put it back together.
In order to use this utility, you must descramble the PRX file, and a file containing only the floats in the PRX will be returned. Modify whatever you want there, and then use the application to rescramble it again. All should be pretty straightforward.
Usage (descramble): scramble -d [input module] [output scramble]
Usage (scramble): scramble -s [input scramble] [output/input module]
Enjoy, source is included :-)

JordanBlack68 has found something interesting on the latest 2.50 firmware update. Apparently Sony has snuck in a PS3 recovery menu with the latest update.
To go into this mode you need at least firmware 2.50 and do the following:
Place your PS3 in STANDBY mode
Hold the power button until you hear 2 beeps.
If it goes into the video reset setting then you messed up, and do it again till you hear a double beep.

Mr Modchips have today put online the new version of Infectus the Modchip for Wii, PS3 and Xbox360: You also have to be logged in to see and buy this product:
InFeCtuS 2 is the latest development of the versatile InFeCtuS modchip created to work with many different consoles.
InFeCtuS developed this modchip with an OPEN concept, they used a core reprogrammable board, a 512kb flash on board and an USB interface for the PC communication.
Specs:
The hardware has a very high quality component design:
The core of InFeCtuS 2 is the new ACTEL ProASIC3 FAMILY, the new family after the famous APA075 used in the past in many PS2 projects.
We used a 512Kb parallel flash SSTSF040, with a high transfer rate and performance.
Finally, we have got a REAL USB2.0 processor. This high quality component can manage the communication between ACTEL and PC (mini usb connector).
All of the chip PLD/FLASH/USB parts are 100% reprogrammable via USB communication.
For security reasons, all of the applications stored in the flash are AES 128-bit encrypted, to protect our work against chinese market!
The project is produced in Europe with the last technology of BSDL testing.
The new InFeCtuS 2 modchip
Being InFeCtuS 2 so versatile, we want to show you at least a little part of its features, ordered by console.
XBOX360 SUPPORT:
X360 CPU TIME ATTACK + DOWNGRADE DASHBOARD (you need the downgrade ADDON)
Allows to gain total access over the XBOX360 flash driver, so that you can read and write the internal flash of any X360 DVD READER in the market.
Everything can be managed with a very simple and user friendly PC software.
COMPLETE SUPPORT OF BENQ DRIVERS
FLASH ID realtime patching, your xbox360 cannot understand if there is any flash running other than the original one.
GLOBE MODCHIP 360 100% emulation including ON / OFF LED
PS3 SUPPORT:
The first work to be done is to allow our users to flash directly the PS3 BIOS by USB. So no more problem with firmwares, you can install everything you want, when you want. All the complications due to firmware versions that cannot be downgraded will not bother you anymore.
Another new feature that we want to add is a REAL TIME patching of the firmware part that you want to be emulated from the chip. Being the 512Kb flash not enough to store a real dual firmware, we'll have to wait for the first hacked firmware to understand if a "realtime" patching will be possible. In case we won't be able to find more ideas, a new version of InFeCtuS 2 with a memory expantion bay will be released
PS2 SUPPORT:
Complete O2 MODCHIP emulation 100% with all functionalities (www.o2mod.com) - Included for FREE
WII SUPPORT:
WII D2C 13 wire modchip, implemented on InFeCtuS 2 the ARGON firmware
SOFTWARE MANAGEMENT:
The possibility to manage the features using an easy software is one of the BIG advantages of this modchip solution!
WIZARD help for the users: you will simply follow software's instruction step by step, everyone would be able to install and manage the InFeCtuS 2 MOD.
When you will be ready to install InFeCtuS 2 on a DVD DRIVE 078 XBOX360 FIRMWARE, the software will assist you with a 100% automated extraction of the key and the patch of new firmware.
WIZARD configuration based on XML for an automatical update of last firmwares.
X360 FIRMWARE checksum, the software will tell you if you are actually using the correct firmware (this feature is only available in WIZARD procedure)
HELP section to allow an easy searching of X360 firmwares
Comes with:
InFeCtuS 2 2.0 modchip
Programmer
JTAG cable (for between modchip and programmer)

Well Dark-alex has been busy and has released the 1.50 kernal addon for the latest firmware 5.00
Instructions:
1. Download the 1.50 Eboot and copy to the root of your PSP Memory Stick
2. Download the 1.50 Kernel and copy to /PSP/GAME5XX
3. Run the Installer
Note: because even deleting LFTV and korean font there was not enough space this time, this version will delete also flash0:/dic/apotp.dic
I'm unsure about what this file is for (maybe for japanese text predicition?) but system works fine with it.
IF you want to keep some of the things deleted by the 150k_installer do following things.
- Install DC7. Use the Format flash options in nand operations menu. Make flash1 size like around 1 MB smaller, make flash3 the smallest possible, and make flash2 a bit smaller (not too much, or you won't be able to download games and demos from psstore). Then, make flash0 as big as possible and continue.
- Install 4.01 M33, update to 5.00 M33.
- Install 1.50 addon. Dump 5.00 using the latest psardumper, and flash the deleted files you want back.
Download the 1.50 eboot here

Dark ALex has released a new version of his savestate creator for games on the PSP.
Heres whats new:
This is same version as the one for 4.01 M33 but updated to do patches in 5.00 M33, that's why version hasn't changed yet.
Remember to discard old savestates from 4.01 before using the plugin. If you attempt to load a savestate made in 4.01
your ram would be in 4.01 M33 but the flash in 5.00 M33, and soon or later it will crash or give problems.

Mathieulh has today released the sourcecode to his Open Source firmware for the PSP.
Release info:
My bad everyone I have been pretty busy lately due to personal issues. I haven't been able to setup the svn because I always lacked the time to do it :/
I am posting the current sources here on the forums and if someone or even the staff could take care of setting up a svn or such a similar solution it would be great.
Again sorry for the wait :/
Thanks to Silverspring who coded most of these sources.
Cheers.
P.S. These sources are to be BSD licensed so make sure you respect it !
