Sony has deployed a patch for WipEout HD onto European servers, and presumably will do the same later today in North America, fixing freezing issues that have affected players with over 50 friends. Admittedly, we were rather fond of the "glitch," though it's probably time we let go of our petty grudge against the in-crowd of our adolescent years (note to self: avoid awkward confrontations at next high school reunion politely decline the Jägerbombs). Still, there's some glee to be gleaned from the update. According to the description:
"If at any time you have had over 50 users in your friends list whilst playing Wipeout it is possible that your saved data has become corrupted. If this situation applies to you, we strongly recommend once this update has installed you quit the game and delete your saved data using the saved data utility in the XMB, then relaunch the game to create a new profile. Deleting your Saved Data will not affect your collected trophies or online records, but will reset your campaign mode progress, team loyalties, and in-game settings." [Emphasis ours.]
See? Popularity doesn't always get you ahead in life.

Even with today's wireless video game controllers, you can't stay untethered forever. After a few hours of gaming on the PlayStation 3, you'll have to plug in that SIXAXIS or DualShock 3 USB cable to charge. Starting December 18th, Sony Japan will offer an AC adapter intended for PS3 controllers at a price of ¥2,800 (just under $30). Like third party solutions we've seen, it has two USB ports so you'll be able to do two controllers or toss in a Bluetooth headset. Nothing yet on availability outside of Japan, but if we get word we'll be all over it, 'cause we feel slightly guilty for leaving the PS3 on overnight to charge -- what with the world's dwindling energy supply and all.

Atari has added the subtitle Inferno to the PS3 version of Alone in the Dark, which is due out in November.
AITD Infero is the result of months of extra work because, after all, rather a lot of Alone in the Dark on Xbox 360 needed addressing.
That's lead to full 360 degree camera control, for starters, plus quicker and more reactive controls. The flasher-style inventory is now quicker to access, too, and there are lots more tips and tutorials for features such as Spectral Vision, which, incidentally, now needs to be used less throughout the game.
On top of all this are reworked driving controls and an overhaul of the 59th Street level. And to finish the package off, there's a new gameplay sequence in episode 6.
The result, we concluded from our recent hands-on with the PS3 version, is a better experience than on Xbox 360 earlier in the year. But there's still a large proportion of clunky and unfair mechanics - those, unfortunately, only starting from scratch could remedy.

We've got five new screenshots of Patapon 2, the sequel to Sony's unique rhythm-action title on PSP.
In the game, you tap out a series of different beats to give orders to a pack of little fighters who use axes, spears and other weapons to take out their animal foes.
The sequel looks like more of the same, but adding to the familiar beat-tapping gameplay is a new four-player multiplayer mode with new co-op scenarios, and hopefully some new beats to tap out, too.
The game's due out in November in Japan.

Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida has confirmed Gran Turismo PSP is still in development - even though it's been years since the game was first announced.
When asked where GT PSP has got to, Yoshida said, "Good question! It's in Polyphony Digital, they're working on it."
The reason for the delay, according to Yoshida, is that Polyphony have been busy with other projects. "They have been working on Gran Turismo 5 Prologue and Gran Turismo 5 for PS3, so they've had to focus on finishing up Gran Turismo on the PS3 side," he explained. "That's been making the PSP development a little bit slow."
So how much longer is there to wait? Could we see GT PSP next year, for example? "I cannot comment," said Yoshida.
He was also quiet on when we're likely to see anything of the next title from team ICO, simply saying, "I'm in conversation with the team." Presumably a conversation that goes "Have you done it yet?" "No sorry."
Yoshida's comments came in an interview with Eurogamer at the Tokyo Game Show. Read the full article to find out what he thinks about platform exclusivity, the New Xbox Experience and more.

Taking a page from the Wii Play playbook, Sony is going to bundle one of its more popular upcoming games, LittleBigPlanet, with a DualShock 3. It'll do it in Japan anyway, hoping that the Japanese video game consuming public will be awed by the woolen cuteness of Sackboy and bring some vibrating solenoids into their workaday lives. Price is just 7980 yen, about $79 in increasingly worthless U.S. dollars.

We've always known that zombies are tools. Well, mostly in the sense that they want to bite us on our vulnerable, fleshy bits, but one should certainly consider the possibilities afforded by having a snarling, undead force at one's disposal. That's what Tecmo has in mind for Undead Knights, a newly announced action game -- with just a sprinkle of strategy -- for the PSP.
Stuck in the midst of a royal power struggle, you're encouraged to see every enemy as a potential ally. Casting you in the role of the anti-hero, Undead Knights sees the dead join your ranks, an increasing and varied assortment of undoubtedly foul-smelling monsters which will act out your every destructive whim. If we had to draw a comparison, we'd say it sounded a bit like Overlord -- or perhaps a more sinister Tokobot. Either way, Tecmo intends to keep things relatively smooth and simple, with action forming 80% of gameplay, and strategy relegated to those times when the unique services of certain felled enemies are required to progress.
If you feel conquering is best done in the company of friends, you'll be pleased to note that Undead Knights will support 4-player ad hoc multiplayer and co-op. It will rise to retail in 2009.

Are the blatant rockist tendencies of Guitar Hero and Rock Band ruining your enjoyment of those otherwise brilliant titles? Of course they are -- we noted your b-boy flava from two blocks away. But don't sweat it because Genius Products, 7 Studios and Quincy Jones III have your niche in their sights and will happily sell you Scratch: The Ultimate DJ when it hits the stores sometime in Spring 2009. With a game controller designed by Numark (known worldwide for its DJ controllers -- there's an example for you after the break), the game will be available for the Xbox 360 and PS3 and feature tracks by "many" (as yet unnamed) hip-hop artists. Trevor Drinkwater, President and CEO of Genius Products promises all and sundry "a cutting-edge game that captures the vital energy of hip-hop culture." And here we thought they were cynically jumping on the Guitar Hero bandwagon! We stand corrected.

After G-stion'R, fableboss1 is back with his new homebrew, Anno 1604 2D.
In this game you can build houses, save trees, flowers and change of view. However, there are still some bugs, such as: background music that when we train up a building and no IA is yet established.

We take pleasure in variety, especially us men. Maybe women too; should Heidi Fleiss’ stud farm be any indication… Well, the same rules apply when it comes to homebrew — ergo, the release of DarkCheat.
Satyrlus’ DarkCheat is a similar homebrew/PRX combo to weltall’s CWCHEAT. Cheat each and every PSP title, find or create your own cheats by viewing/dumping custom memory ranges, as well DarkCheat carries out other useful day-to-day functions… That’s all detailed in the readme.
DarkCheat is compatible with CWCHEAT, NitePR, and Cheat Master formatted cheats. Enjoy!
