Don’t get too excited; keep it in your pants… This isn’t your average everyday Glory Hole, this is kronicali’s Glory Hole, and it’s for your PSP.
In its current state we have a simple puzzle game where you must guide the smaller circle to the bigger one, which I suspect is the glory hole we’re talking about. To give the game a little oomph, kronicali has incorporated a countdown timer and a timed timer, I guess you would call it, as well as a ranking system based on your completion time. So if you’re bored looking to waste a little, try this out…

Executives at major retailer GameStop have weighed in with their console predictions for the remainder of 2009, expecting both PlayStation and Wii to receive a meaningful price cut before the year is out.
That's according to a research note from analyst Arvind Bhatia of Sterne Agee, following a meeting with key GameStop executives. As reported by Gamasutra, GameStop cites the slowing of sales for both Nintendo and Sony's consoles, with PlayStation 3 in most urgent need of attention.
Previously, Bhatia has predicted that PS3 might lose up to 100 USD of its current price point alongside the release of EA's Madden NFL 10 in August.
With growing pressure from the games industry to slash the price of the PlayStation 3 - most recently from Activision CEO Bobby Kotick who questioned his company's continued support of Sony's machine in the light of a probable attach rate tumble - we doubt we've heard the last of the issue yet.

So much for that "late June" release date for Fat Princess - looks like the game won't be out this month after all.
"Fat Princess will have a global release date, but I can confirm for you it will not be next week I'm afraid," wrote Sony's Mike Kebby on the PlayStation blog.
"The game is coming at some point this summer, but there is no confirmed release date at the moment."
Fat Princess, you may recall, is a PlayStation Network title revolving around combat, strategy, resource management and cake. Read our hands-on preview for the full lowdown.

Considering the game's been announced for a little over two weeks but is set to drop in 2010, we expect news for Final Fantasy XIV to fly fast and furious in the months leading up to its release. Today, for instance, we've received rumors claiming that the beta process for the game will begin as early as September, spawned by a recently uploaded Help Wanted sign on Square Enix's site which requests the aid of game testers and game masters.
The employment offering doesn't actually mention FFXIV, though -- it only asks that applicants be well versed in FFXI, which led some fans to speculate that most of the FFXI support team will be shifted to XIV. The GM positions are scheduled to start mid-September -- a potential start date for the speculated beta. Also lending credence is the fact that the FFXIV dev team claims to have been working on the game for five years, and wants it to have a longer beta period than XI's, which was only four months.
We're smelling a lot of "if" coming off this rumor, but our sister site Massively (which knows more about MMOs than anyone ever) thinks it carries some weight. We'll adhere to its wise, wise judgment.

UK retail site PLAY has Max Payne 3 all set for an October 30, 2009 bullet-timed released. When Live Playstation followed up with the retail outlet for comment on where it got the date, the site was told the gaming chain was given the information by "the developers of the game."
We followed up with Rockstar Games -- the publisher -- and a representative stated it hasn't announced a release date. In fact, all the rep could do was refer us to the corporate announcement that the game was coming this winter. If things change, we'll be sure to update.

Sony plans a major push for the PS3 wand motion-sensor in spring next year, with plans to establish "a range of first-party and third-party content".
That's according to a developer brief leaked on Kotaku, which goes on to reveal that the wand will have rumble and up to four controllers can be used at once.
Sony unveiled the prototype wand motion sensor at E3. The hardware has in-built sensors as well as a dome on top that is tracked by the PlayStation Eye. This provides 1:1 motion-sensing capability. Furthermore, Sony says the PS Eye will be able to track head movement and recognise voice.
Sony notes, however, that there will be "SPU overhead" that has "an impact on memory" when using these features.
The platform holder also told developers there is "possibility" the DualShock 3 pad, which features rudimentary motion-sensing, will be compatible with the wand controller. An example where the wand is used as a sword and the DualShock 3 as a shield was given.
There's still no firm release date for the PS3 wand.

We're totally over the steampunk movement. Seriously guys, give it a rest. But this moisturegoon PS3 is really something special.
Outfitted with a wood veneer finish and brass detailing, this Damnation Timberclad PS3 is clearly a member of the anti-steampunk movement known in some circles as vaporhood, waterprick, condensationjerk or aquaramones.
The modification leaves the system's internals uncracked, meaning that this PS3 has an intact warranty (though mailing it back to Sony in this condition is not necessarily recommended). We'd hate to see them replace the custom ‘Liquid Iron' and 'Liquid Rust' treated disc bay with *shudder* black plastic.

Sony Computer Entertainment America has issued a statement in response to Activision's suggestion that it might drop support for Sony consoles in the future.
Last week CEO of Activision Bobby Kotick said that his company would have to reassess support for the PlayStation 3 and the PSP if Sony does not drop the price of the home console.
"PlayStation has tremendous momentum coming out of E3, and we are seeing positive growth with more than 350 titles slated to hit across all our platforms, including many anticipated games from our publishing partners," said spokesperson Patrick Seybold.
"We enjoy healthy business relationships with and greatly value our publishing partners and are working closely with them to deliver the best entertainment experience."
It's expected that Sony will cut the price of the PlayStation 3 later this year, to bring it into line with cheaper hardware from Nintendo and Microsoft.
US retail chain GameStop most recently said it expects a PS3 price cut this year of around USD 100.

Sony has reportedly detailed its PlayStation3 motion control technology to external developers, ahead of the release in spring 2010.
According to a report by Kotaku, the new control method for PlayStation 3 games will launch with a "range of first-party and third-party content" and will work "with any games across all genres from casual to core."
As well as supporting force feedback or rumble technology, the PlayStation Eye camera will be able to track up to four controllers and use the built-in microphone for voice input and recognition.
The company is also looking at a solution to support both the new wand controller and the existing DualShock 3 simultaneously.
Sony's motion control technology was first shown at E3 this month, with the company demonstrating a selection of early prototype software at the show.
Sony's European boss Andrew House recently told GamesIndustry.biz that the time was right to introduce motion control to the PlayStation 3, and the spring launch gave it a "good lead time to assemble the right sorts of content to take advantage of it."
"We have have a lot of confidence from a Sony standpoint on the right time to introduce new technology and new interfaces, and the goal of the company has always been to do it at the right time, when we can make a difference and be best of breed," he said.

Region-free Xbox 360 copies of Atari's PS3-only game won't dent sales, according to retail
Following confirmation that the US 360 edition of Ghostbusters will be region free, retail does not expect a rush to cash in on imports owing to the game's UK PlayStation exclusivty.
The game debuted at number four in the ELSPA GfK-ChartTrack All Formats Top 40 this week.
Though there is still a trade in import games on the High Street, retailers who choose to sell non-EU products can still face legal consequences.
“Any retailer selling imported games breaches copyright if the product is not licensed for sale in the UK,” explained ERA’s Kim Bayley. “The likelihood of ‘being caught’ would depend on the copyright owner knowing that the retailer was selling it.
“If this is the case it is for the copyright owner to take action against the importer. We would encourage all retailers to compete on a level playing field. However, we would also encourage publishers to make product available should there be retail demand.”
Importing was a problem for the industry in the past, when European release dates would be months or even years behind those in the US and Japan. However, with global releases commonly now separated by just a matter of days, the import business is now more an online affair.
“Many retailers have long severed their relationships with potential Stateside suppliers or have no idea where to look, other than on consumer online stores,” Game Guide editor Chris Ratcliff told MCV.

A new study by Harris Interactive notes that currently, one in ten Americans (10%) own an HD DVD player, while just 7% own a Blu-ray player. Crazy, right? More Americans own HD DVD right now than the "winning" format, Blu-ray. If you think about it, that statistic isn't that shocking. When HD DVD was around, it was far and away the "budget" format for high-def. The players were cheaper, the films were cheaper. In other words, it was a format more ready to thrive in a down economy. Blu-ray was always viewed as a niche format for those absorbed in A/V, not the common man's format. The survey also found that on average, consumers purchased approximately 6 Standard Format DVD's in the last six months compared with 1 in HD format.

Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, the highest rated video game in the history of the DS, is coming to the Playstation Portable, Take-Two Interactive announced this morning.
"We're proud to extend this truly unique handheld Grand Theft Auto experience to PSP and offer a downloadable version of Chinatown Wars for PSPgo," said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. "Rockstar Leeds has shown incredible talent in creating games that raise the bar in terms of depth and innovation on portables, and with Chinatown Wars we have a rich, fast-paced, and incredibly addictive entry into the series."
Despite record review scores, Chinatown Wars sold just 89,000 copies on the DS in it's first month on shelves, leading some to wonder if the DS was a good platform for mature gaming.
It will be interesting to see how Chinatown Wars sales compare on the PSP when it hits in North America and Europe this fall.
"Rockstar's work with the GTA series has been an enormous part of the success of PlayStation platforms," said Jack Tretton, President and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America. "We're excited to welcome the critically acclaimed Chinatown Wars to the outstanding line-up of great games headed to the PSP platform this fall."
The game will be available as both a digital download on the Playstation Network and on UMD.
