Remember MyPSPTouchscreen, the fantasy draft ccpspita who planned to bring a fully functional touch screen on PSP? Well, ccpspita responded to frequent requests that are delivered on the touch screen and the software libraries needed for its operation, and these responses, has also shared with us.
More to follow.
Posted by ccpspita:
Quote:
- We need the hardware of the touchscreen: 4 wire resistive screen Sparkfun the size of PSP, which does not seem to be more 'available from the dealer, and the controller (or whatever) Serial RS232 powered 3.6Volt, also 4 wire resistive
- Software programs: the PSP that reads the string from the serial controller of the touch screen, interprets and translates the characters in the QWERTY keyboard to the screen of Sony PSP, or the position translates into a "dot" graphic on the screen, etc. .. .. and 'written in C, compiled with PSP SDK available with the toolchain for pspdev.org and' functioning and integrated until the last custom firmware available 5:03
- The application uses the touchscreen MyPSPRobotics for all input functions using QWERTY keyboard. (The input MyPSP are also possible through keyboard Infrared (for FAT) or the Sony OSK driven by the PSP buttons)
- A library mytouch.a in MyPSP and 'prepared to manage the auto calibration of the screen or manual calibration to 4 points; l' input on-screen keyboard and input graphic drawing video
- A new and pikey.prx 'was developed to manage the touch screen even in the XMB of the PSP: Use movements to scroll right, left, up and down as well as' the' enter '
- The Sony OSK also work with the touch screen using their own library osktouch.a, also developed
- Since the libraries mytouch.a, osktouch.ae pikey.prx the new act on the basis of the string controller I've used (and that 'different for each controller, as well as to calibrate), they are not generalized and redistributable software
To achieve:
- Buy hardware
- Developing software with PSP SDK
I have no available sources.

News/release from SG57:
Light Cycle 3D is a clone (NOT a port) of the light cycle racing concept from the hit movie Tron. This uses GLtron's models and a few textures. This uses Brick's LTE Lite Mod for rendering. As of v3.0 it supports up to 30 racers at once with 4 different speeds, 4 different grid sizes, 4 different skins come bundled and 2 game types with full mp3 playback support and customizable light cycle component colors.
UPDATE v3.01:
Decent update.
* You can now control the distance on the camera from the cycle with Up and Down on the D-pad
* You can now control the height of the camera from the cycle with the analog stick up and down
* Reset camera distance and height with O while in-game
* 'The Void' by 0m3GA ARS3NAL skin now comes bundled with the game (along with Virtual Reality)
* Tracers/rails are now randomly colored til the main graphical bug is fixed
* Fixed up 'uber' gametype, no longer can you go through walls and walls will destroy properly
* You may now toggle MP3 looping with TRIANGLE in the Pause menu in-game!
* MP3 Playback should be much more stable now (yes finally lol)

The XMB is a nice core for a lot of features but why are they not unlocked yet? To mention a few examples:
Selfmade Widgets
The PS3 uses a widget engine based on open source for the information board. So why not give us the ability to load our own homebrew widget's from external mediums or install them like themes? As they mostly use XML and flash files it wouldn't even compromise PS3's security.
Music Visualizations
The PSP has a lot of them, the PS3 only three. Next-Gen multimedia entertainment? Not really, yet.
Universal Messenger
The PSP can use Skype, why not the PS3? The PS3's messaging system is based on Jabber. It would be very simple to allow the PS3 to communicate with iCQ, Google Talk and other instant messenger protocols.
Open File Transfer
Why can we only send pictures with size limitation via the PSN while we would more like to send music files or savegames. If that uses to much ressources like traffic, then P2P would be a solution.
Session Video/Audio Streaming
We have an audio/video and textchat there. Where's the ability to stream videos or music to watch/listen them with friends over the PSN? If it's the traffic problem again, one PS3 can host a server and invite friends.
Ingame Invites
Change the game unique invitation system and do it like for example Resident Evil 5 does. Invitations via XMB, we don't need another invitation way for every game. Keep it easy.
Trophy Sync. & Compare
Every time we want to compare our trophies with friends account we need to sync them again with the server. Why not local check which trophy file changed, than comparing every file online which takes the user a lot of painful time and patience. Do a simple hash and if the hash didnt change since last sync, let it be.
XMB Music
Click the wrong option and the music stops. Why? There's no need to stop the music whily changing some settings or load a friends profile.

At E3 2008 Natsume announced they were publishing a localized version of Umihara Kawase Portable under the name Yumi’s Odd Odyssey. In the game you control Yumi, a girl equipped with an elastic fishing line used for Bionic Commando style swinging.
The PSP game wasn’t on Natsume’s 2009 release schedule so asked what happened to it. “Umihara has gone somewhere,” Hiro Maekawa, President of Natsume said with a smile. “That one has been put on permanent hold,” Graham Markay, Vice President of Operations, explained. “Have I given up on it? No, but unfortunately I don’t think the PSP game going to make it to North American shores.”
If Natsume released Yumi’s Odd Odyssey it would have been the first game from the Umihara Kawase series to get an international release. Marvelous also plans on releasing a Nintendo DS version of Umihara Kawase in Japan. The game was delayed from its original release date, but still planned for Japan. Will Natsume bring it to North America? “To be quite honest, I haven’t seen the DS game. It hasn’t come through the office on our side,” Markay said.
Should Natsume give the DS game a look or should Yumi’s psychedelic world and giant fish stay in Japan?

But in a good way. See, my biggest criticism of PlayStation Home is that it's sterile. Boring. But this Saturday night, that sterility will be temporarily relieved. By this...dance-off...thing.
Apparently it's a dance-off between humans and hamsters. Presumably with lots of grinding. And with a Stay Puft Marshmallow Man somehow involved. It's all a little hard to come to terms with, but at 8PM PST this Saturday night, if you find yourself spending the night in, you may as well check it out, let me know if you see a breakdancing Marshmallow Man.
Sony: Home needs more stuff like this. You've spent years of manpower and millions of dollars building the thing, you may as well have a little fun with it.

Valve has announced details of an update to Left 4 Dead that is due out next week. To start, the SDK open beta is over, and the final version is being released. They're also adding a framework for easily sharing player-created content, accessible through the menu system in-game. In addition to that, they're revamping the matchmaking system to accommodate custom campaigns (like this Resident Evil 3 mod). Quoting:
"Content authors will be able to package up their new maps, along with new posters, models, and textures, into a single .VPK file. To install and activate this content in-game, players need simply download the .VPK and double click on it. ... When creating or searching for a lobby, a new option named 'Add-on campaign' will let you select from among the add-on campaigns that you have installed. You can then find games or lobbies as well as create a lobby for that campaign. You can invite your friends, too. If they do not have the campaign installed, they will automatically be offered and an option to download it.

June 20th, 2009, 01:21 Posted By: wraggster
Sony Computer Entertainment reached out to its development partners today, getting them up to speed on the new PlayStation Eye-powered motion controller tech it showcased at E3 2009. It also expanded upon the details provided at the show.
The PlayStation 3's second motion control push is slated to launch in Spring 2010, Sony Computer Entertainment reiterated to developers today, arriving with a "range of first-party and third-party content." SCE pitched the new controller as capable of functioning "with any games across all genres from casual to core."
On the technical side, SCE says that the PlayStation Eye accessory will come equipped with force feedback rumble. Sony boasts that the "face-tracking and head-tracking capability already in the PS3 SDK" will offer developers "powerful tools for new types of user interaction."
Sony says its new controller will also work in tandem with the Eye's built-in microphone array for voice input and voice recognition. Up to four of the new motion controllers can be tracked at once by the PlayStation Eye.
Adding the wand controller to games comes at a horsepower cost, Sony notes, writing that the "motion-tracking library has some SPU overhead and has an impact on memory as well, although these will be minimized."
The developer targeted communication also indicates that Sony is "currently looking into the possibility" of combining motion control wand and stock PS3 controller functions, offering the example of "the motion controller as a sword and use DualShock 3 as a shield."
Sony did not express a price, firm launch date or plans to bundle the PlayStation Eye motion control accessory.

Brick’s PSPMarble is another example of some top-notch ‘brew… It somewhat reminds me of Mark Cerny’s Marble Madness. Carefully guide your marble through the various physics-based 3D environments and rack them points up to achieve the highest possible score.
Update: Brick has released PSPMarble v2.5b –
COMPLETED REQUEST regarding the camera system (wrapping is allowed now). Requested by “the underminer”.
UPDATED physics module, now marble goes a bit faster, but the controls remain accurate, and they won’t make your life harder with “puzzles”.
UPDATED stacked particle system for smoother animation.
UPDATED session cache manager, and now the load times while you switch menu-related session are improved.
UPDATED an input event in the tutorial mode.
Plus more not-so-worth to mention.

Hoping for another Teen rated Mortal Kombat game? Yeah, me neither. And it looks like the development team agrees.
Longtime series creator Ed Boon has made known new information regarding his upcoming title, tentatively being called Mortal Kombat 9.
"U r absolutely right. People want an M-rated MK....dammit we will give them an M-rated MK," he wrote in response to a reader on his twitter feed.
He also discussed a bit about how the game's new fatalities will look, suggesting perhaps they'll be extremely violent.
"Motion capturing special moves & fatalities today....they are kind of sick !!," he wrote. "
Carlos & Rick O. doin some kool fatalities. I hope we aren't taking these too far. "
Boon also confirmed the game will no longer contain any super heroes, and that in no way would this be an AO rated game.
We reached out to Boon to comment and perhaps spill some more details, but he told IGN we'll have to wait before new information can be revealed. But hey, at least this confirms the twitter account is actually Ed's and not some faker.

In the latest issue of PSW Magazine (PlayStation World) based in the UK there is a small article all-but confirming the PS3 Slim and with some new information about when it will be announced. The article reads:
"The PS3 Slim Packaging looks almost identical to the confirmed PSP Go, so it isn't a fake. Expect the smaller, lighter PS3 to be announced at the Tokyo Games Show in September, just in time for Xmas"
This year the Tokyo Games Show will be held from September 24 to September 27 in the Makuhari Messe, in Chiba, Japan. We hope that the PS3 Slim could be announced sightly before but as long as it get's announced i'm sure that a lot of 360, Wii and even a few PS3 users will be getting one.
