PlayStation 3 owners! Hide your treasured possessions and cover your pets in bubble wrap, because Explodemon! will be hitting PlayStation Network with a bang this Q4.
Explodemon! is a 2.5D platform action game brought kicking and screaming into the HD era. Influenced by classic Japanese games from the golden era of the SNES, players use Explodemon’s self-destructive nature to combat enemies and fly through the air, all the while solving a huge variety of physics-based puzzles (and, naturally, causing incalculable collateral damage).
When the peaceful planet of Nibia is attacked by the malicious Vortex forces, the fate of the star system is thrust into the one pair of hands it shouldn’t be: the malfunctioning Guardian robot Explodemon. His comic quest to repel the onslaught and restore peace will take him across three distinct planets over twelve levels, with new abilities and gameplay mechanics introduced throughout.
“We’re really excited to finally be able to reveal Explodemon! to the world,” explains design director Jonathan Biddle, from a blast-proof bunker somewhere below the surface of Nibia. “The game is chock full of gameplay nuggets carefully mined from the greatest titles ever to grace our joysticks. Whether you’re experiencing its intense combat, head-scratching puzzles, or classic platforming, you’ll find we’ve combined all of these elements into an addictive and elegantly balanced package.”
Explodemon! is unrelenting, hard-core brain-tickling action for those who grew up playing platformers, as well as those who’ll discover just how awesome they were.
THE SKINNY (OR TL;DR)
Explodemon! is a 2.5D-styled platform game with a physics-puzzle twist
It’s out Q4 2010
It’s influenced by the classic Japanese games of old
It’s more than a little bit funny, or so our mums said
It’s really rather special and you want to write nice things about it

2K Sports today announced the soundtrack for NBA® 2K11, the latest installment in the top rated and top selling NBA basketball simulation franchise*. Complementing the appearance of Michael Jordan, the series’ greatest cover athlete to date, the soundtrack is the biggest and best in 2K history, offering an eclectic mix of upcoming breakout bands and highly acclaimed artists. The soundtrack includes an original, exclusive track from the quadruple platinum-selling artist and 12-time Grammy nominee, Snoop Dogg, that illustrates his long-standing enthusiasm for the NBA 2K series. Other notable artists include Outkast’s Big Boi, Drake, Kid Cudi, Two Door Cinema Club, The Constellations, and The Alan Parsons Project performing the Chicago Bulls’ intro song.
Featuring Michael Jordan as this year’s cover athlete, and several new gameplay modes and updates, NBA 2K11 continues its trailblazing reputation of weaving both emerging and well-established musical acts into the basketball mix. News/release from AtomicDryad
Desc:
Pergame is a small module that loads other modules as if they were in /seplugins/game.txt
The difference here is that pergame.prx loads on a per-eboot basis. Thus one doesn't need
to toggle a specific module on or off if they only need it to make one game run in m33, and cheat programs that break some homebrew can be told only to load for isos/umds.
Games that require m33_620.prx/etc run successfully when using this loader instead of
/seplugins/game.txt.
Homepage: http://code.google.com/p/pergame/
Changelog:
0.3.2: Putting autosort=1 in pergame.txt will cause launched homebrews/iso to move to the top of the xmb menu.
0.3.1: * Fixed issue with config parser croaking with too many #comments.
0.3: * now loads GAME.iso.plugins, GAME.plugins, EBOOT.pbp.plugins, EBOOT.plugins and launches module
entries within.
* pergame.txt now handles umdID's with dashes, and paths that start with '/'.
* 'umd' now matches physical UMDs only, 'iso' now matches iso/cso only.
* logging function is less crappy
* spammy verbose logging with logging=2
0.2: * UMDID detection now works via direct memory read.
* relevant modules from 5.03 prometheus, altered to load entirely from MS, are now included.
default settings in pergame.txt will now cause prometheus to load for any iso beginning with
'prm' in the following folders: /iso, /iso/cat_game, /iso/cat_mini.
Current compatibility (tested) list:
game - module - note
any - freecheat
any - cwcheat
any - psplink - only when loaded from pergame
NOT eboot demo - prometheus
NOT eboot demo - m33_620
KHBBS - khbbs translation modules
Current incompatibility list:
game - module - loaded from - result
iso/umd - macrofire - pergame.txt - game start fails with 0x80020321 (no such device)
homebrew - macrofire - pergame.txt - macrofire menu opens in a loop
any - psplink - game.txt, before pergame - psp crashes, or 0x8002013c (library not found), loads in pergame however
any - psplink - game.txt, after pergame - pergame fails to load some modules (freecheat)
eboot DEMO god eater jp - prometheus/m33_620 - pergame.txt - loads module but fails to work
eboot DEMO phantasy star 2 jp - prometheus/m33_620 - pergame.txt - loads module but fails to work
Installation/usage:
snag: http://code.google.com/p/pergame/downloads/list
latest svn (bin+src): http://pergame.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/pergame-svn.zip
Throw the prx anywhere and add to ms0:/seplugins/game.txt. put pergame.txt In the same folder
and edit. Syntax is (per line):
module identifier
where 'module' = 'ms0:/path/to/a/plugin.prx'. No spaces. Case insensitive. If path stats with '/', assumes
ms0:/PATH
and 'identifier' = ms0:/path/, /path/, gameid (ie jpjp65535), or 'umd'. Spaces allowed. Case insensitive.
GameID can contain a dash, or not.
Examples:
/seplugins/cwcheat/cwcheat.prx ms0:/iso/cat_game/name_of_game.cso
ms0:/freecheat/fc_3xx.prx usls-99999
/seplugins/m33_620.prx /iso/cat_newgames/
/seplugins/lolmodule.prx /psp/game/cat_testing/lolhomebrew/eboot.pbp
/seplugins/lolmodule.prx /psp/game/cat_testing/lolhomebrew/eboo
See pergame.txt for more examples.
Also, the module will attempt to load the following files, which can contain one module name per line:
/iso/name_of_game.iso.plugins, /iso/name_of_game.plugins, /psp/game/name_of_homebrew/eboot.pbp.plugins,
/psp/game/name_of_homebrew/eboot.plugins
Examples:
/iso/flow.cso.plugins or /iso/flow.plugins
/psp/game/filer/eboot.plugins or /psp/game/filer/eboot.pbp.plugins
Tested with:
CFW 5.00m33, m33_620.prx, stargate.prx, freecheat.
License:
GPL. Feel free to distribute, alter, or mutiliate - but you must distribute the source code
of any derivative works.
Caveats:
This is written for CFW 5.00m33 (primarily for selective use of m33_620). Determining
which iso is being launched is done by reading SystemController's memory. The ISOOFFSET
(0x0000B108) defined at the top of main.c is where one can adjust this. If you can
provide an offset for a particular firmware I'll include it in a future version -
which will have version detection.
This uses a StartModuleHandler, and I have yet to determine how to turn it off.
Todo:
DONE: Fix UMD-IDs and real UMDs.
Maybe? Automatic on-the-fly prometheus patching via temporary SceIO hooks.

Nippon Ichi already released and re-released Disgaea, but those versions were in Japanese or English. Disgaea Portable is different since it’s the first Chinese version of Disgaea.
Sony Computer Entertainment Hong Kong announced the game and shared a few screenshots of the Chinese version. No details on if Disgaea Portable will have anything new aside from the localization.
Curious to see if this boosts Nippon Ichi’s bottom line when their financial report comes out since few Japanese RPGs are localized into Chinese.

Zipper Interactive's latest in the SOCOM series has seen its release delayed into 2011, the developer has confirmed via the franchise's official blog. Having appeared in playable form as early as GDC 2010, SOCOM 4 was scheduled to ship this fall and has been used by Sony as a key "core" title in demoing PlayStation Move.
"While we're certainly aware that you've been looking forward to playing SOCOM 4 this year, we don't want to take any shortcuts. Instead, we want to deliver the best and most immersive SOCOM game we possibly can and we're going to use our extra time to do just that," read the statement, penned typed by Zipper community manager Jeremy Dunham.
SCEA's senior corporate communications director, Patrick Seybold, told Joystiq, "We can confirm that SOCOM 4 will be released in 2011. The team is focusing on additional features which will help to deliver the most compelling and immersion SOCOM experience yet. Please look out for further updates and announcements over the coming months."

Gameloft's touched-up version of vintage platformer Earthworm Jim is out today on PS3 for £7.99/€9.99.
That's a lot of money, but Earthworm Jim HD works hard for it. The single-player campaign has had an HD facelift, for starters, and three exclusive levels added that take place in a never-before-seen setting.
Local and online co-op for up to four people has been worked in, too, and spans 15 multiplayer levels.
Earthworm Jim HD was released on Xbox Live Arcade in June.

July 28th, 2010, 20:49 Posted By: wraggster
BioWare's Greg Zeschuk has said that 10 million sales constitutes a hit in the console market.
Speaking to Videogamer, the co-founder of the Mass Effect and Dragon Age studio said that the team hopes its big MMO release for Electronic Arts, Star Wars: The Old Republic, reaches that figure.
"We need to sell 10 million units," he said. "That's actually the new target, right? We do top 10 games, our stuff is quite successful. I know Mass [Effect 2] is number eight so far this year, in North America."
"Sometimes I'm facetious when I say some of those things, knowing that we can sell a few million but seeing that someone else can sell 25. You're kinda like, 'Well, that's a hit!' We always joke that if we only do half as well as Blizzard on Star Wars: The Old Republic, we'll be quite satisfied. We've been very fortunate."
Zeschuk added that he knows the team is in a fortunate position, able to create blockbuster games backed by the marketing muscle of owner EA.
"I think we know how lucky we are. When we're saying that, we always know that we're super-fortunate that we have a nice combination of things going on - really great support from EA, a budget to make great big giant games. We recognise that in a sense it's a privileged position we're in."
Last month Zeschuk warned smaller developers that working on triple-A projects was too risky, with only the studios at the top are able to succeed in an expensive and competitive market.
"It's more competitive than it's ever been, it's more dangerous than it's ever been," Zeschuk told attendees of the Develop Conference in Brighton. "Right now it's precisely the wrong thing to chase."

Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ:ERTS) today announced that the Grammy award-winning rock band Linkin Park will headline the in-game soundtrack for Medal of HonorTM with the lead song to their new album A Thousand Suns (releasing on September 14). The song, entitled “The Catalyst,” will be featured in an exclusive trailer directed by the band’s Joe Hahn. The trailer is a unique first-of-its-kind mix of live footage and intense modern military action from the Medal of Honor game and will be released exclusively on August 1 at www.medalofhonor.com/linkinpark, one day before the song is released to radio, iTunes® and other media. Check out a preview of the song today at www.medalofhonor.com/linkinpark.
“Medal of Honor marks the beginning of an innovative new relationship between EA and Linkin Park,” said Steve Schnur, Worldwide Executive, Music and Music Marketing, EA. “I’ve personally known the band since 1999, and they have always been an intensely creative group who understand the power of videogames and have wanted to explore and expand the medium’s possibilities. ‘The Catalyst’ is one of the most anticipated tracks of the year, and the combination of this new song and Joe Hahn’s distinctive visual dynamic re-sets the bar in our commitment to bringing together landmark EA games with artists whose talents go far beyond music.”
“This is a unique, creative association for us and a collaboration that we are excited about,” said Joe Hahn, trailer director and DJ for Linkin Park. “The opportunity to help introduce “The Catalyst” via the new Medal of Honor game creates a new bond between EA, our fans, and the band’s overall vision for the new digital frontier. We are enormously proud of the music on A Thousand Suns and are excited to have created an exclusive trailer around the lead track.”
Linkin Park was recently named the No. 1 selling Rock/Alt Band of the Decade by SoundScan/Billboard. Over the course of the past few years, they’ve amassed more than 50 million worldwide sales, a remarkable string of chart-topping hit singles, a pair of Grammy wins, and an international fan base whose members number in the millions.
For the first time in its 11-year history, Medal of Honor leaves the WWII theatre and enters the modern setting of war-torn Afghanistan. The game is told through the lens of a small band of fictional characters. Medal of Honor introduces players to the Tier 1 Operator, an elite warrior and relatively unknown instrument of the U.S. Military that operates under the National Command Authority to take on missions no one else can handle.
Medal of Honor launches on October 12, 2010 in North America and October 15 in Europe for the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, Xbox 360® videogame and entertainment system and PC.

PlayStation Move support is coming to Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition via a free, downloadable patch. So, is Capcom going to release the same patch for regular copies of Resident Evil 5? No. Why? It won’t work.
A representative from Capcom explained, while I was mowing down Majini, that PlayStation Move controls require a memory resource. When Capcom developed the original version of Resident Evil 5 the team didn’t know about Move and used the memory resource for another feature. After Capcom saw PlayStation Move, they freed up a memory slot for PlayStation Move controls.
So, how does Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition play with a glowing wand?
The analog stick on the navigation controller makes Chris move while the wand is used to aim. Pressing the trigger button shifts into target mode where you can point at Majini and shoot with the move button. Shaking the wand in target mode makes Chris reload his weapon. If you’re not aiming, shaking makes Chris pull out his knife and slash. It’s possible to waggle a way through a small group of Majini since knifing is easier to do.
Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition does not require a navigation controller. You can use a regular Dualshock 3 pad instead. Gripping a controller in one hand and the PlayStation Move wand in the other sounds pretty cumbersome, though.

Sony has let the world know that game and video recommendations are coming to the PlayStation Store with the next PS3 firmware update.
Version 3.41 "is slated to go live by the end of July", wrote Sony's Eric Lempel on the US PlayStation blog.
Video and game recommendations are offered in a "You May Like" menu on the right hand side of the PlayStation Store menu. The captured images makes this appear intrusive, but that menu has been zoomed in on by a deft click of the pad.
Lempel added that the next PSP firmware update (6.31) is also on the way. This is a "minor" addition and smooths some game stability issues.

In a fresh move to cash in on what has become a globally popular brand, Sony has announced that it is to expand its licensing program to allow the use of the PlayStation brand on a range of non-gaming products.
In June last year Sony confirmed that it was to liberalise its games licensing program, allowing a wider range of third party manufacturers to manufacture PlayStation-compatible devices.
Now Andriasang reports that Sony intends to licence out use of the PlayStation logo as well as the triangle, circle, square and x icons for use on t-shirts and various other lifestyle products.
These products will also carry carry the ‘Official Licensed Product’ seal.
