Mojang's global hit makes its way to Sony's next-gen platform
Minecraft will be released on PS4 when the system launches this holiday in North America and Europe.
SCEE president Jim Ryan revealed the news at Sony’s Gamescom’s press conference in Cologne.
No other details were given about the PS4 version at this time.
This announcement now means that Minecraft is coming to both Sony and Microsoft’s next generation platforms, as the game was confirmed to be headed to Xbox One at E3. Console exclusivity was previously with Xbox.
Originally developed for the PC, Minecraft is now available on at least six other platforms, including Mac, iOS, Android, Linux, Raspberry Pi and Xbox 360.

Derek Yu's treasure hunting, platforming roguelike masterpiece Spelunky is coming to PS3 and Vita on 27th August in North America, Sony has announced.Unfortunately, it's only been announced in North America so far, but we're looking into its European release, which will hopefully coincide with its overseas launch.
Priced at $14.99, Spelunky will be a Cross-Buy affair, so buy it on Vita or PS3 and you'll receive it on the other platform as well, free of charge.This Vita version of Spelunky is unique in that it allows players to play co-op without staying on the same screen. Game changer!Spelunky will be the second game in Sony's month-long Summer Select line-up, which (dive)kicks off tomorrow with Divekick. Then there's Spelunky a week later followed by Zen's KickBeat on 3rd September and Muteki Corporation's retro Dragon Warrior-esque RPG throwback Dragon Fantasy: Book 2 on 10th September.All titles feature Cross-Buy support and will be 20 per cent off during their launch week for PlayStation Plus subscribers.Given that Divekick and KickBeat launch the same week in Europe as they do in North America, it's not unreasonable to assume that Spelunky will follow suit, but we're still waiting on confirmation there.Spelunky is the game that Eurogamer writers Ellie Gibson and Chris Donlan are using to raise their progeny. It achieved top marks on both XBLA and PC where Tom boldly stated in his review that "Spelunky is perfect." Well, almost, anyway. I'm pretty sure he'd like to review it again on PSN if only to give it another perfect score.

Konami has officially announced Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate HD.
The upgraded version of March 2013's 3DS release will launch on October 31 on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network, Konami said today on the Lords of Shadow Facebook page.
The title's existence was revealed last week when retailer Play Asia began carrying PS3 and Xbox 360 listings for a still unannounced Castlevania Lords of Shadow Collection, which will feature the original Lords of Shadow, its DLC, and Mirror of Fate HD.
It wouldn't be surprising if Konami announces the Collection at Gamescom, where the franchise will form a major part of its show line-up.
Speaking in the run-up to Mirror Of Fate's 3DS release, Konami head of UK Studio Dave Cox told CVGthat developer MercurySteam would "absolutely" consider an upgraded version of the game for home consoles should it be successful on Nintendo's portable.
He said: "We created everything in high definition - all the textures, all the levels, high-poly models, everything - and we kind of shrunk it all down into the 3DS.
"Then we lost bones from characters, you know, we dropped the resolution of the textures and everything to make it fit. At MercurySteam we have an HD version of the game sitting there in a computer somewhere."

A software patch for the PlayStation 3 version of Disney Infinity is causing the game to freeze, according to a growing number of users.
According to numerous reports on the official PlayStation community forums, players who install the version 1.01 software patch are having problems loading the game.
"[I] got through the tutorial fine, but it froze once I picked an adventure from the Toy Box," one user said. "Then after that when we tried another character the character would only walk a few steps before freezing. Pretty frustrating from a new game."
The game's producer John Vignocchi has tweeted that developer Avalanche Software is aware of the problem and is working on a fix. Disney Infinity, which released in North America last Sunday, is set for release on Friday.

Sony have finally released the 12GB flash-memory PS3 that was released last year in Europe at a price of $199 making this the cheapest SKU for the PS3, taking over the throne from the 250GB slim model was the region's cheapest at $269. Clearly this is an attempt to shift a few more Playstation 3s before the PS4 comes calling.

PCSX2 SVN r5721 is compiled. PCSX2 is an open source PlayStation 2 (PS2) emulator for the Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems. With the most recent versions, many PS2 games are playable (although speed limitations have made play-to-completion tests for many games impractical), and several games are claimed to have full functionality.
PCSX2 SVN Changelog:

PPSSPP Git (2013/08/18) is compiled. PPSSPP is a fast and portable PSP emulator for Android, Windows, Mac, and Linux, written in C++.
PPSSPP Git Changelog:
* GLES: Disable logic op while alpha blend is enabled. Having them both enabled at the same time makes no sense, and this seems like the safest possible fix for #3220 as logic op usage is rare.
* 360 controller: Update default mapping. Put speed toggle on THUMBR instead of a trigger as the triggers are bouncy.
* Yet another feature that was missing in newui
* Introduce 'lowmem' fonts for Symbian.
Right now it is for all Symbian devices. Although, high mem devices should continue to use the old fonts.
* Merge pull request #3217 from unknownbrackets/softgpu
Fix softgpu's 4444 color conversion
* Fix softgpu's 4444 color conversion.
And use the standard 4->8 swizzling funcs (more self documenting.)
* Small changes. Symbian buildfix.
* Symbian can't compile Software GPU (internal compiler error). Probably can't run it well either. So, disabled.
* Update native.
* Typo/buildfix
* Transfer some features from oldUI to newUI
* Fix loading of non-mapped keys
* Fix checkmark for multithreaded I/O, fixes #3216
* Fixes to default key mappings, add default button, fix saving of mapped controls on Android, fixes #3213
* Misc UI stuff, back button should now work as expected.
* Merge pull request #3214 from Kingcom/Debug
Assemble opcode by typing
* Assemble opcode by typing
* Merge pull request #3212 from unknownbrackets/softgpu
Software GPU width tweak
* Render the display width properly in softgpu.
* Remove very questionable DrawSync override.
* Add support for multithreading in softgpu.
* Report "Software" for sw GPU engine.
* Merge pull request #3206 from thedax/UIImprovements

If you simply cannot wait for potential Gamescom news concerning the Vita, Best Buy is offering the 3G Vita launch bundle and the plain old Wi-Fi version of the system for $200. Select titles from the PS3's Greatest Hits library are also available for $15 apiece.
The launch bundle includes a 3G-compatible Vita, an 8 GB memory card, and an AT&T DataConnect Session Pass for $200. According to Best Buy's listing for the bundle, it also includes an offer for a free PSN game, but it seems to have expired in May 2012. Still, this pack is a nice way to save on a memory card and some on-the-go online gaming. If you'd prefer to sidestep some savings and spend more money later, the non-bundled version of the Wi-Fi Vita is also $200.
A cut from the PS3's Greatest Hits library is also yours for cheap if you can beat others to the checkout. Playstation All Stars: Battle Royale, Sly Cooper: Thieves In Time, God of War: Origins Collection, Twisted Metal, Infamous 2, ICO and Shadow of the Colossus Collection, Killzone 3, LittleBigPlanet Karting, Gran Turismo 5: XL Edition, LittleBigPlanet 2: Special Edition and LittleBigPlanet: GOTY Edition are all available in limited quantities for $15. Playstation All-Starsand Sly Cooper: Thieves In Time are also crossplay compatible, meaning that you can pick up some cheap games for a cheap Vita.

The Multiplayer beta for Killzone Mercenary on Vita will open up to PlayStation Plus subscribers next week, Sony has confirmed.
US subs will gain access on Tuesday, August 20, with EU subs following a day later.
A week after that, on August 27 in US and August 28 in EU, the beta will open up to all PSN account holders.
The open beta phase will end on September 3, just in time for the game's release date of September 4 in Europe, September 6 in the UK and September 10 in North America.
Sony says the public's first look at the Vita first-person shooter's online package will offer plenty of scope for customisation, enabling players to gear up for battle like a tank or opt for a more stealthy approach towards assassinations.
Head through here for a Killzone Mercenary multiplayer developer video.
