After PS2 and PSP launches that left us in the dark for almost a year, SCEE president David Reeves has promised to right the wrongs of the past and give Europe equal billing to Japan and the US when PS3 launches in November.
Speaking exclusively to MCV, Reeves moved to reassure an industry concerned about hardware numbers that he aims to ensure that Europe is not left behind.
“The US, Japan and Europe will be equally served,” he said. “It’s my job to make sure Europe gets equal billing. I can’t specify the numbers but we’ll work hard to ensure it is equal.”
And now that Europe can look forward to the arrival of the hugely anticipated console during the pivotal festive season, Reeves led the celebrations – and hinted at what could be a bumper launch line-up.
“We’re delighted that it is out in November. I think the fact it is worldwide is good news for retail. And for our third party partners it is great timing before Christmas – in Europe specifically. Europe is on track and I think the third party publishers should recognise that. But as for us, we will have anything from four to six titles at launch, maybe more.”
But the SCEE president would not give any indication of Sony’s next big announcement – a final price point. “Ken [Kuturagi] will choose a price point at the right time once all the production costing is done,” Reeves added.
“Sony has a history of choosing the right time to do it; we did it with PSOne and it was the same with PS2.”

Im sure those of you who follow news about all consoles will have heard that the Nintendo Revolution is to have emulators for N64, Snes, Nes, Gameboy (GBA?) and yesterday we find out that Sega Genesis and PC Engine are to be on the system too.
Now you will have to pay for the roms but its all perfectly legal, will the Revolution be the system of choice for Homebrewers ?
Id like to hear opinions about this as many of you are newcomers to the Homebrew scene ?

Winnydows has released a new version of his Vid Converter, heres whats new:
Now enough installations of one of codecs XviD or DivX.
Mode HQV (VirtualDub) is removed. Why? Because I found port of TemporalCleaner for AviSynth. And if option Noise is chosen: TemporalCleaner, HQM the mode gives out the same quality as HQV at speed on 120 % of percent more quickly!!!
The bug - is corrected at coding DVD and MPG filters were not applied to removal of noise even if they have been chosen. As did not de-interlace PAL films.
Option End: go to the menu settings. Now this option is not saved after exit.
Now possible make AVI output. If the file 4:3 proportions PSPlayer hangs.
For DVD, MPG applied UnDot the filter. Cleans grain. Only in HQM mode.
In mode HQM better colors for DVD and MPG. AviSynth plug-in ColorMatrix.
For DVD added better de-interlace method. TomsMoComp.dll.
In Settings section De-interlace was added.
Removed unused AviSynth plug-ins.
Join options go to the submenu.
Auto-crop go to Debug. Possible required only for clips with a black back.
Info Names go to sub menu with options.
The documentation little bit corrected.
Speed and Quality of DVD and MPG coding increased by 30 % (turned off de-blocking).
Now impossible start tasks not having specified a save path.
JPG resizer works already better, rotate pictures, use better resize metod, but all still it is not ideal.
The bug corrected - version 3.101 may not install.

Sony entered the global gaming industry with the Japanese release of the original PlayStation in December of 1994. More than 11 years and two more consoles later, the electronics giant has pulled the plug on its first console, ceasing all production of PS units. Last September, Sony announced that the original PlayStation and its PSOne redesign had surpassed the 100 million units sold milestone.
Despite the news, Sony representatives noted today that the end of production does not necessarily mean the end of availability. PS hardware and software are still selling in countries around the world.
Even if original PlayStation systems and games are becoming slim pickings in the US, gamers likely won't be going without for long. As part of its PlayStation Business Briefing 2006, Sony last week announced that it is working on an emulator that would allow gamers to play PS titles on the PSP. Details haven't been released yet, but Sony Computer Entertainment president Ken Kutaragi said the games would be digitally distributed.
While the PlayStation's decade-plus production run is certainly impressive, it isn't the longest life span for a gaming console. Atari released its Video Computer System (more popularly known as the Atari 2600) in 1977 and didn't officially pull the plug on it until 1991.

So if you recall, way back at E3 2004 when Sony was showing off the PlayStation Portable for the first time in the US, they were also generating some buzz with translucent keyboard and cellphone attachments. Of course, those never materialized -- but they have in fact finally shown up online, albeit at the USPTO. In two filings dated November 10, 2004 (and made public in late February 2006 and only three days ago, respectively), a gaggle of Sony designers submitted applications for both "ornamental design[s]" for a keyboard and phone add-on for the PSP -- and trust us, the patent filings couldn't have been much less verbose. So will we ever see these things get manufactured and released? Eh, even though Sony's launched some unexpected PSP accessories recently, we'd assume the phone attachment won't ever take off. However, Izumi Kawanishi has made it no secret that he wants email on the PSP, and a keyboard would be quite a nicety if that's in the cards.

Playing Tekken on the PSP is something that's always appealed. Can you imagine, sitting on a crowded commuter train, headphones ripped free, volume cranked up, as you bloody one man's face with another's boot? Just think of all those shocked looks fluttering your way. Lovely.
Keeping our excitement tinkering up in the 'warmer' category, Sony has just released a batch of new screens from the PSP-only Tekken: Dark Resurrection, plus details of all the game modes on offer (see below). In addition, it has also (re)confirmed that it will boast a line-up of more than 30 customisable characters, including newcomers Dragunov and Lili, plus the return of Armor King.
Well, without further ado, here are the modes as promised. The game is set to launch around summer time, so beautiful cranium-cracking action can wait 'til then.
Tekken Dojo: Fight your way to the top in a selection of different Dojos based on a private island owned by Mishima Zaibatsu.
Arcade Battle: Earn your purse of fight money as you defeat ghosts matching your current level. And each test you pass sees you elevated a rank in the fighting hierarchy.
Quick Battle: Choose from 1-on-1 battle or team battles against the CPU. Alternatively form a team of up to eight players in team battle mode for a knock-out tournament.
Network: Challenge friends, or enemies, to a duel via Ad Hoc Mode, exclusive to PSP.
Story Battle: Get under the skin of your character in the new story mode and uncover your history.
Time, Survival and Gold Rush: Beat your previous best score with a choice of three attack modes: Time Attack as you go against your opponent and the clock; Survival as your stamina is put to the test and your work to defeat as many opponents as possible and Gold Rush which allows you to earn fight money for damage dealt within the time limit.
Practice: All new practice mode includes tutorials, freestyle training and command training covering both attack and self-defence.

When one of our readers mentioned back in November of last year (after we asked the question of what titles our loyal patrons would like to see come out for the PSP) that he’d like to see the Metal Slug series make an appearance on our handheld, we had no idea it was going to happen for real. This week's GDC, the lone event responsible for setting off hype for the coming gaming year, was also the venue where SNK Playmore confirmed that the PSP would be receiving its own Metal Slug compilation series this November under the title Metal Slug Collection.
The collection will contain Metal Slug, Metal Slug 2, Metal Slug X, Metal Slug 3, Metal Slug 4, and Metal Slug 5 and will feature 2-player co-op play. Whether that’ll be over ad-hoc or via infrastructure mode, they’re not telling, although we’re guessing it’s the former.

News from Blue2k:
I've just updated the Live Fire! version of Artillery to the newest version including the 0.1 interface. As a little present I've added an intergrated version of MPH's 2.0 game loader. So now Artillery can launch 2.0 games directly by the use of MPH's game loader.
I've modified MPH's version slightly to make it work from the MbShell dir, so all credit goes to him for making this loader, I just 'edited' it to make it work with Artillery better. To use it press the second UMD icon on the desktop. Be sure to have an UMD inserted. It will even return to Artillery after you exit the game. I've tested it with the demo UMD and it seemed to work. But Live Fire! is a dev version.
Just move/copy the flash0 and flash1folders to the MbShell dir, everything else is already set up when you download the latest Live Fire! version.
Download this Dev/Beta Version via Comments, Give Feedback.

Heres a newspost sourced from and better explained by PSP3d
FreePlay and Skylark have released a new Windows binary tool used to convert standard TrueType (TTF) fonts to the PSP-compatible to PGF font format. Using the font mod/hack released by TeamOverlord, FreePlay, and Skylark a few days ago, you can now change your PSP's font to a font of your choice on all PSP firmwares, truely making your PSP unique to 'normal' PSPs. Although the font mod/hack was originally intended to open up exploitations on the PSP firmware (although that is still not out of question), they decided that this would also be a cool customization to release to the public, and indeed, it is definitely a nice mod. The new TTF to PGF font converter released today now opens the capability of using thousands of Windows fonts on your PSP, from such places as dafont.com, or from your /WINDOWS/Fonts/ folder on your hard drive. Great work guys!
