Heres an excerpt
For those who like their baffling confusion slathered on like cake frosting on a Jello pie, Sony Computer Entertainment has been serving up the 'Huh's in heaping portions here at TGS. First there was the keynote meeting about PlayStation that was 95% about curing Alzheimer's than it was about playing games. (By the by, if the people at Microsoft manage to make a commercial out of senile old people enjoying the heck out of 360, I'm going to have to give massive props to all of their balls.) Then there was the Nothing that followed, with seven weeks to go before this system needs to be in shopping baskets and yet no answers to critical launch questions. There were the clearly accessible PS3 features available on the menu that we weren't allowed to touch (hell, any one of us journalists were probably a button press away from revealing Sony's Xbox Live killer before Sony did). This year's IGN TGS team is going to come back home looking like linebackers with all the shoulder shrugging we've been doing.
Here's another one for the file: Sony's Technical Demo of connecting a PSP to a PS3. For those who don't like it when their heads explode, please stop reading after the following explanation: The PS3 to PSP Technical Demo showed that the console is able to transfer downloaded demos (including PS1 game downloads as well as PSP samplers) to the portable. One demo was a downloaded copy of the PS1 game Ridge Racer, the other a Loco Roco demo. Simple enough in concept, and we're eager for it.

News from IGN
One of the biggest features of the PlayStation Portable is also unfortunately one of its more underutilized: its wireless capabilities. Use of the PSP's local and online LAN capabilities has been noteworthy where it's been used -- we got off to a great start with games like the 8-player Ridge Racer, and the PSP actually holds the distinction in America for being the first major gaming platform (handheld or console) to have online titles available from Day One of launch. When it's not used, however, the let-down for buyers (to the hardcore gamers that write in to us, at least) is palpable. Particularly when it comes to the PSP connecting to wireless HotSpots for online play and game downloads, we would love to see Sony Computer Entertainment and its partners be much more pro-active than they have been so far.
We're seeing signs of improvement here in Japan in use of the network features, but not big leaps. SCE has yet to announce any kind of integration with PSP for the upcoming PS3 network platform, so developers have been skittish to take on the responsibility of building an online game backend. And while the tech libraries should now be in developers hands to support local wireless and Game Sharing, not every game maker has found it easy to do so. Again, a push on SCE's part to make all of this easier and more powerful for developers to use could really help.
Anyway, enough doom and demands. Here's a rundown from the SCE PSP pamphlet given out at TGS of titles that are using the PSP's wireless, online and Game Sharing features. These are only about 20 of the approximated 34 PSP games on the show floor, so we'll try to pass on an update if we see any more titles that should be noted and commended for connectivity support.
Ape Escape Racer -- Wireless local play.
Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters -- Wireless local and online features. There are not notes about what those online features are exactly (could be online downloads, could be online battle modes ala Ratchet: Deadlocked), but we're psyched to find out.
Winning Eleven 10 -- Wireless local play.
Monster Hunter Portable 2 -- Wireless local play for four players and online connectivity. Online gameplay is sadly not in this PSP version. (The sound you hear ringing out, by the way, is the sound of thousands of Japanese gamers waiting in some of the longest lines here at TGS to play this game shouting, "Oh my god, Capcom, we needed it so very much..." This game was the #1 seller for PSP last year, but Capcom stuck with local play only again for the sequel.) However, added to this PSP game is the ability to download new levels of the game by connecting online.
Ace Combat X: Skies of Deception -- Wireless local play.
Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops -- Wireless local and online play. This should be the biggie for online features in 2006, so watch for it. Also supported by MGS: Portable Ops is the upcoming GPS device.
Kingdom of Paradise 2: Busouden -- Wireless local play and online connectivity. As in the last game, wireless multiplayer is not planned, instead you can download new battle gear to enjoy.
Parappa the Rapper -- Wireless local play and Game Sharing.
Gundam Battle Royale -- Wireless local play.
Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology -- Online connectivity. Multiplayer isn't part of the game, but we expect there to be some type of online leaderboard or else downloadable dungeons for this PSP game.
Boxer's Road 2: The Real -- Wireless local play.
Mahjong Fight Club: National Competition Edition -- Wireless local play, online connectivity and Game Sharing. The trifecta!
Dynasty Warriors Mahjong -- Wireless local play.
P-Kara -- Wireless local play and online connectivity. This rhythm-action music game actually boasts on its front menu its online features (including connections to So-Net and, for some reason, a dedicated SCEJ website or network), with its offline features looking to be just a secondary component. A nice change of priorities there.
Jeanne D'Arc (Level-5's strategy game) -- No connectivity (in case you were wondering.)
Final Fantasy: Crisis Core -- No connectivity (again, for those anxious to know where this highly-anticipated title stood.)
Hot Shots Golf Portable -- GPS support. Wireless gameplay support wasn't detailed out on the TGS version (which is not playable), but it is notable in its GPS use.
Homestar Portable -- GPS support. This is Sega's astronomy application, so don't look for online gaming, but do look for a handy application when you take your PSP out camping.
EDIA's GPS Navagation Software -- GPS support, obviously. This program lets you navigate street corners in realtime using the GPS and local maps on UMD.

Take-Two got a letter from the National Association of Securities Dealers Automated Quotations, or NASDAQ, indicating that the company is not in compliance with a filing requirement for continued listing on the NASDAQ Stock Market.
Take-Two knew it was coming, due to an internal investigation of the Bully publisher's stock option grants. This investigation has delayed the filing of Form 10-Q, required to maintain eligibility in the stock market.
The next step for Take-Two is to request a hearing with the NASDAQ Listing Qualifications Panel to review the Staff Determination. Until a decision is rendered Take-Two will continue to be listed under TTWO on the NASDAQ Global Select Market.

September 23rd, 2006, 11:10 Posted By: wraggster
THE Tokyo Game Show was the event that gaming fans had been waiting for: a chance, at last, to play the much-hyped — and much delayed — PlayStation 3.
For Sony, it was a chance, after a series of embarrassing mistakes, to prove that PlayStation still deserves to dominate the video games market.
What the machine actually delivered was a dazzling array of graphics. The dozen games on show yesterday have reached such sophistication that eyelashes, blades of grass and droplets of water can be animated individually.
But fans and analysts were united in the view that the PS3, despite the superiority of its technology, has failed to demonstrate its “wow” factor.
It will be an expensive, complicated machine, and must make early gains before Christmas to win over the Japanese market, where it will be sold for 50,000 yen (£226). Britain will not get any PS3s until March.
Fans criticised a lack of innovation. The controller was almost exactly the same as the one that came with the original PlayStation and PS2.
It also relies heavily on recycled hits. The games set to be released with the machine bear tell-tale “more of the same” titles such as Everybody’s Golf 5, Virtual Fighter 5 and Ridge Racer 7.
As a result, industry observers have tipped Nintendo as the likely victor in the console war.
Its new machine, the Wii, features a revolutionary motion-sensitive controller. It will cost 25,000 yen in Japan and £179 in Britain.
The new sword-fighting game Bleach, where players swish the controller around the room and their actions are mimicked by armour-clad knights on the screen, may convert newcomers to Wii.
Other titles being tipped by include Bladestorm, based on the 100 Years’ War; Coded Arms Assault, a futuristic shooting game set in Tokyo; Elebits, a bizarre game where players control a swarm of tiny egg-shaped creatures with bolts of electricity as they attempt to tidy the room; and Dead Rising, an unremittingly gory title for the Xbox 360.

Via Kotaku:
This sort of makes me sad. I was randomly selected to participate in a Sony survey for the Playstation Portable. The questions read like something that comes up in the tailend of a really bad break up with a needy girlfriend.
I grabbed a couple of screenshots of the survey, just to highlight the thrust of the questionnaire. I found the third question to be quite interesting:
What statement best characterizes your opinion of Playstation overall (console & portable entertainment system) in terms of delivering a quality gaming experience?
*Playstation lags behind the competition in terms of gaming innovation.
*Playstation is no different than any other gaming manufacturer.
*Playstation is the technological leader in gaming innovations.
I kept expecting a question that read: Will you go to the dance with me?
*Yes
*No

Looks like Namco's Ridger Racer 7 is too taxing on the PlayStation 3. We caught this poor floor rep tending to the overheated, bugged out PS3 that shit the bed during the first day of TGS. Yeah, we know this sort of thing happens all the time when you've got unfinished code running on unproven hardware, but we also know that even though you've got a Bravia television and a high end PlayStation 3, your cooling solution is wicked ghetto.
Plus, 1080p and 60 frames per second don't mean squat when you're rendering a blank screen.
We've seen a couple of kiosks and machines go down, but can somewhat safely assume this is just software related and not an issue with the PlayStation 3 machines themselves.
We'll have more gratuitous fatal system errors soon, coupled with frustrated game producers and booth reps. We promise.

Fantastic news about the PSP is absolutely pouring in from the Tokyo Game Show.
First up is some new screenshots and information on the PSP's GPS accessory. "Minna no Golf" allows you to plan out your shots at actual golf courses (in Japan) using the GPS accessory. As we predicted, Edia will indeed be providing full-on navigation software for the PSP.

Details on two new titles from Sony for the PSP. The first is the latest iteration in the Talkman series, dubbed "Talkman Shabelingual Eikaiwa," or "Talkman Talklingual English Conversation."
The second game is "P-kara," the PSP's first karaoke game!
Talkman Shabelingual Eikaiwa
Game's official site:
http://www.jp.playstation.com/scej/t...alkman/shabel/
Talkman Shabelingual Eikaiwa is a game to work on improving your English conversation skills. Judging by a few of the posts on the forum, it seems a few of you reading this article could use this title. The developers intend to have you improve your skills by practicing with the game for 15 minutes per day.
It's due out this winter.
-P-kara
Game's official site:
http://www.jp.playstation.com/scej/title/pkara/
P-kara is the PSP's first karaoke game. You're able to download as many as 3,000 different songs to sing to, and Sony will also regularly be providing new songs to download. No details on pricing or release date for this game. We're also wondering if you're supposed to use Talkman's microphone attachment? Or does Sony have something else in mind?

Well here's the only detail we've heard so far about how Metal Gear: Portable Ops will support the PSP's upcoming GPS accessory. According to Kojima Productions' Tokyo Game Show page
"if you connect the GPS receiver, you can also find friends while outside."
So the GPS serves only to locate other Metal Gear Portable Ops players in your area? We'll hopefully have something more concrete in the near future, but for the time being, this will have to do.
Interesting eh?

Hi,
I have made an application that helps you to install various programs and configure settings to get live tv streaming onto your PSP. It uses TVU Player, TVC Media Player and the psp application PMP VCL. What the program is, is a step-by-step guide to make it a lot easier to setup, rather than having to fiddle with numerous settings and tweaking it to get it right.

For the non-believers, this is a demo reel (note: no sound) showcasing some of the hot new titles coming to the PSP soon. You'll see the Ape Escape Racer, Jeanne d'Arc, the new Talkman, PaRappa the Rapper, Ratchet and Clank, Ace Combat X, Gundam Battle Royale, Tales of the World, Boxer's Road 2, Monster Hunter Portable 2, and more.
It's clear that the games library is maturing quite a bit on the handheld. I'm really impressed by how far the handheld has gone graphically, and that's with the CPU clock still limited 33%. A lot of these games look like winners, too. I'm really psyched for Jeanne d'Arc and Tales of the World. Ratchet and Clank looks absolutely beautiful too.

Hi guys, i thought i would share my first C coding project with you
This project is what i originally wanted Z-Mix to be, but due to lua-player not supporting Mp3 files it was not possible to do...
So this is a mp3 player for the psp
This version automatically loads the mp3 contained in the same folder as the eboot.
The controls are printed on screen.
The Mp3 file must be named "music".
The next release will contain a mp3 selector, nicer gui & a picture slideshow too
Enjoy my first C coded app
