DSN has released a new MP3 Player for the PSP:
Ruckus is an MP3 player for the PlayStation Portable that is designed to be used by DJs. It provides most of the functionality of a professional CD player, including cueing with 1/60 second precision, tempo adjustment ±12%, and pitch bend.
This is the first beta release of Ruckus. Until it's been more thoroughly tested, I don't recommend using it at a gig.

Sony’s just had one brilliant advertisement following another these days. Well, at least this time it’s not laden with racist undertones. Their latest strategy? Advertising that the soon-to-be-made-obsolete pink PS2 is the gaming system of choice for pervs. It took me a while to even figure out that this was a PS2 ad - note the square - triangle - circle - cross shapes of the undergarments and it becomes more clear.
Is it just me, or is this advertisement doomed to scare away the pink PS2 target market of girl gamers? Or is the thought of some guy sniffing panties just the kind of thing to convince you to get that PS2 you’ve been lusting after?
Check out the very controversial ad via Comments

Ditlew and Fanjita have released a new downgrader for the previously unusable 2.01 firmware.
Heres the info:
A long time ago, when the GTA exploit first emerged, the first application we wrote for it was a v2.01 downgrader, similar to MPH's downgrader for v2.00. Unfortunately, the GTA exploit didn't offer sufficient access to the PSP's flash to allow the downgrader to work, so it was never released.
The new TIFF exploit allows us the necessary access, and so here it is, after some thorough testing on our own PSPs - an easy downgrader for firmware v2.00 and v2.01, via eLoader 0.9.8.
The advantage of this downgrader is that it doesn't require a firmware dump from a v1.5 PSP. It also contains a lot of extra safety checks and user friendliness enhancements, as well as a safer method for overwriting the INDEX.DAT file.
Many v2.0 and v2.01 users who wanted to downgrade may already have used the v2.6 or v2.71 Downdaters, so the usefulness of this downgrader is perhaps limited. But we're releasing it now so that anyone who might find it useful can use it.
Note :
Please ensure that you read the entire README.TXT file that is included with the downgrader package. Please also note that although this uses tried and tested techniques, and has been tested with 100% success on several PSPs, no downgrader is 100% safe, and so YOU USE THIS SOFTWARE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Eva Longoria in this new mag for PSP, heres the details:
We love the way she makes Desperate Housewives worth watching. We love that she’s more likely to head to an NBA game than some cheesy L.A. nightclub. But the biggest reason we love Eva so much is this: Behind that sexy bronze skin lies a heart of gold.

New release from Cools
Ok Well the Pencil Puzzles v2 has been all fixed up and working on PSP! All you need to do is wait for ARza to upload the puzzles for the game and you are set to go!
This version has background images made by Mister Cheif. Some new things added are:
Puzzle Select Screen
New Backgrounds
Credits Screen
and Screenshot function (L+R+UP for JPG, and L+R+DOWN for PNG)
For making Custom Puzzles check out the Custom Puzzle Creation Kit. Make sure if you make new puzzles to place them in the Puzzle Directory and make sure the files are named correctly, look at the TEST folder for more on renaming.
Sometimes the puzzle select screen will freeze, no idea why...
also the puzzle select screen may seem to lag, but that is only because it is loading the pictures, and displaying them, so please dont complain about lag.

Kididio has posted the first release of his IR Keyboard driver, PSPik.
With this driver you should be able to interact with your PSP from a Wireless Keyboard.
Heres what the coder says:
This release is proper, it´s only a proof of concept release for the pspsource.de comunity to show up eg. to test which ir keyboard devices are working with.
This rls is testet by some friends of me, with multiple deployers from ir keyboards like acer, hama, sony, lg and so on, but for every keyboard we must improofe the code, so i can not grant any functionality to you, its ver 0.01 first, you can call it
a pre-alpha. My job and my wife sucks most off
my freetime, an working release for the mainstream keyboards is coming up end of this,
2006, year.
Does it work, ?

Heres an excerpt
Guerilla Games wants to drop you on the battlefield. Only not the same way as before, as in its PS2 firs-person shooter, Killzone. This time, you see the action from an overhead perspective. Not only that, but the game also blends equal does of action and strategy to make the experience feel unique; wholly separate from its console predecessor.
The IGN crew saw the game during Sony's pre-E3 event, and then at the show itself, but this is the first time Sony has left a build in the office. It only has two chapters, and certain features fail to make appearance, but it delivers a clear vision of what the final code offers. And this is, frankly, one of the finest experiences on the PSP. Again, this is just an early impression from incomplete code, but even in its early state, Liberation outclasses most its peers.

Heres an excerpt:
It's been less than a year since we saw IGN's 2005 PSP Game of the Year, Liberty City Stories, and the team at Rockstar is already putting the finishing touches on its next project, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories. But what's different and why will gamers want to revisit the GTA universe so soon? To find out, we talked with Rockstar Leeds honcho Gordon Hall to get their official take.
IGN: Vice City is a living, breathing city. What have been the largest technical challenges you've had to overcome to create this sort of dynamic setting?
Gordon Hall: One of the biggest technical achievements in Vice City Stories has been the enormous effort involved in making Vice City this incredibly vibrant, detailed and alive place.
The detail seen in the city has been ramped up massively over Liberty City Stories. We now have double the number of polygons in a city block, with new features such as animated textures and neon light effects and an all-new radiosity lighting model. On top of this we had to push for an even greater draw distance, especially now that we have the addition of helicopters and planes -- it's a real blast taking to the sky in these things and seeing the city sprawl beneath you. And just for good measure, Vice City Stories is even faster and smoother than Liberty City Stories.

What we do know is that we'll be getting a ton of news about games and accessories as we near the launch of the system, and here is the first bit that jumped out at me: it seems as if Lair is confirmed to be another game that supports the motion-sensing technology in the PS3 controller. That brings the total number of games confirmed to use that technology up to two, in addition to Warhawk.
This is all according to Famitsu and there is of course a chance that this could change before launch, but I'm hoping for as many games I can control by tilting the controller as possible. I just think it's fun. I'm looking forward to seeing how many games are going to be available at launch that use the controller in this way; this is Sony's time to prove that this is a feature they actually believe in and not a cheap knockoff of the Wiimote.
Of course, the other feature I'm hoping for is the ability to toggle the motion-sensing controls in the games off and on. I can see some consumers preferring to use the traditional analogue stick, and I always think the more choice we have in how we play games the better. This is going to be an interesting two months.

NJ updated his site with a new beta version of his CPS2 emulator for PSP! Here is the translation via google.Modification point (beta)
The modification point is to be rather many, but the effect which it corresponds to hardship completely not seeing.
With the unreasonable [tsu] lever you abandoned the improvement of speed above this already.
romcnv.exe was renewed. Correction of trouble of the below-mentioned drawing as for the game which does
Please do again to draw up cash file.
Correcting the trouble of drawing of the game below.
Street fighter ZERO 2: Left and right of the victory mark of ranking indication is strange. (Correction being completed)
[vuanpaiaseiba]: Part priority of opening demonstration is strange. (Correction being completed)
Score of the top and bottom of ranking indication of the [maitei] pan is not processed the mask. (Correction being completed)
[ezahoden] pre-world war 2 demonstration is not indicated in normally with D&D S.O.M. (Correction being completed)
Part sprite of [pazurupu] 2 is not indicated. (Bug of ROM converter. Correction being completed)
In every game texture size modification to optimum value.
But, because it was allotted at the value to which problem does not happen originally as for speed the change.
It tried not to read the PCM data when sound is made invalid.
It corresponds to the paddle input of [pazurupu] 2. (The same method as forgottn of CPS1PSP)
Modifying the calculation method of the pallet. Whether fading out and the like somewhat became good.
C68K substantially rewriting. (The M68000 core was drawn up anew, but bug correction and the like
Because it is not in time, utilizing continuation C68K. Because speed does not change almost,
This way whether it does,)
Z80 modification to CZ80 which customizes the core. CZ80 is to be lacking a little in accuracy, but
Because it is not the strange sound driver different from NEOGEO, especially problem seems that does not occur.
There is no compatibility of the state data attendant upon above-mentioned and modification.
It is the schedule which even in formal edition and is modified.
Is not bug, is, but the case where with the grapple game Raster Effects is turned to OFF the gap of the background part
Cancellation. However, because drawing of the picture increases, (about average 1~2fps) speed falls somewhat.
* Really, as for speed it is to improve delicately but you deducted with this correction and when such as zero whether.
Other things, detailed modification point large number.
Alittle hard to make sense out of.
b8a our trusty translator had posted a translated news post from NJ yesterday about his progress with getting it to work with the new eloader. Here is that translation.I performed an operation check with eLoader 0.98.
I used a firmware 2.6/TA-082 PSP with the CPS2PSP that I'm building.
Hmmm, it doesn't run. I think maybe the TA-082 is what's wrong.
It displays the menu, and goes all the way to where you select the game, but freezes when trying to load the cache file. It looks like, memory that should have been allocated has not, in actuality, been allocated.
Of the 19MB that I was able to allocate, there was no problem up till around 11MB, so I think that applications that are smaller than that should have no problems.
Everything I've made has gone bad (laugh)
On the other hand, the GTA Loader version works properly. It seems as though the allocatable memory has increased by about 1MB. Hmm, I wonder if something can't be done about this.
I made some attempts to get it to work.
Please add the below text to ms0:/PSP/eloader/loader098.cfg
It's only for smaller games (as a rule of thumb, those with a zip file size under about 10MB), but I think they should run. It looks like the allocatable memory is exceedingly small.
You should also make the same change to NGEPSP and CPS1PSP as well.
Well, for the time being it looks like the applications I've built run better with the GTA loader, and not the TIFF loader. But, even better still is to downdate to FW1.5.
An example of how to modify loader098.cfg
