Yorkshire-based indie Four Door Lemon has revealed that it is handling development for the PlayStation Vita versions of Joe Danger and its sequel.
The two games are due for release in the second quarter of 2014 and will include all of the content from both Hello Games' 2010 hit Joe Danger and its 2012 follow-up Joe Danger 2: The Movie.
Four Door Lemon was founded in 2005 and has collaborated with other developers on the likes of New Star Soccer and Oddworld: Much's Oddysee HD.
"We're big fans of Joe Danger and Hello Games, and having the opportunity to bring our favourite daredevil to the Vita was a dream come true for us," said founder Simon Barratt.
"I have been hoping Sean would ask us to bring Joe to Vita for a long time now as the blond of classic skill-based gameplay and humour is a perfect fit for the device. We can't wait for fans to be able to experience the Danger on the go."
Hello Games founder Sean Murray added: "Joe Danger is incredibly precious to us, and there are very few people we'd trust with our baby. Simon and his team at Four Door Lemon have a well proven track record, especially on the PlayStation platform.
"This is a great example of UK indie developers working together, helping each other to build something fantastic. It's an ideal fit."
Hello Games has just announced its next project will be procedurally generated sci-fi title No Man's Sky.

GTA Online, the online side of Grand Theft Auto 5, gets a free update today that adds four new capture-the-flag modes. It being GTA, the flags are so much pieces of fabric as they are suspect packages and stolen vehicles. Simply titled Capture, the update brings Raid, Hold, GTA, and Contend to the game's team-based modes, along with 20 new jobs.
A quick rundown of the modes, then: Raid sounds like standard CTF, with teams attacking bases to seize packages and bring them to their bases. Hold, meanwhile, is about finding packages and storing as many as you can in your base - unlike Raid, packages are also dotted across the map. GTA is like Raid, but with vehicles spread across the map. Finally, Contend is centered around a single vehicle that respawns after it's successfully captured.
According to Rockstar, the update is available now through Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network. It also adds a bunch of tweaks and fixes that you can check out here.

Law firm Robbins Geller Rudman & Dowd LLP has filed a class action lawsuitagainst Electronic Arts alleging that the company issued "materially false and misleading statements" regarding the quality and playability of its troubled first-person shooter Battlefield 4.
Battlefield 4 has seen numerous patches in the weeks following its release, addressing major issues ranging from client crashes to save file corruption. The suit highlights the PlayStation 4 version of Battlefield 4 in particular, claiming that "players of Electronic Arts' games were being subjected to multiple glitches and significant crashes when attempting to play Electronic Arts' titles on PS4."
The Robbins Geller Rudman & Dowd suit marks the second time a law firm has targeted Electronic Arts over Battlefield 4 this month. Previously, Holzer Holzer & Fistel, LLC launched an investigation to determine whether EA misled investors regarding Battlefield 4's projected impact on company revenue. The results of this investigation have not yet been disclosed.
Individuals who purchased EA common stock between July 24 and December 4, 2013, have until February 15 to contact Robbins Geller for representation in the firm's class action lawsuit.

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has launchedPlayStation Mobile in eight new countries: Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and New Zealand.
Users with a PlayStation certified smartphone or tablet need to download the free PS Mobile app to access a selection of games from the PS Store.
PS Mobile games need only be bought once to be played on up to three devices, meaning you can play the same title on a smartphone, tablet and Vita.
The service launched with 21 games in Europe and the US in late 2012. According to Sony, "PlayStation Mobile marries fun, engaging PlayStation-style gaming with the convenience of PlayStation Certified mobile devices and an intuitive store navigation and purchasing experience."

Fighting game Skullgirls will be re-released on the PlayStation Store and Xbox Live Marketplace as Skullgirls Encore, its developer has announced.Following the breakup of the relationship between co-publishers Autumn Games and Konami, Skullgirls was set to be delisted from Sony and Microsoft's digital store fronts. But developer Lab Zero Games has successfully navigated this tricky obstacle, and plans to re-release the game under a new name.On 31st December 2013 Skullgirls will be removed from PSN and XBLA. Skullgirls Encore will replace it at some point in January 2014.At least, that's in the US. For European PlayStation owners, it "may take a little longer", Lab Zero Games admitted. All PSN purchasers of the original release of Skullgirls get Skullgirls Encore free, similar to a PS3 / PS4 / Vita Cross-buy. Squigly's character DLC will be released at the same time, and will be free for a period of three months, and will only be compatible with Skullgirls Encore. However, the original Skullgirls DLC is not compatible with Skullgirls Encore. To make up for this, the character colour DLC bundle will be free for everyone for a limited time. This unlocks additional colours for all existing characters, as well as Squigly and all future characters.Expect fresh leaderboards and a new set of trophies to earn. Unfortunately your previous save data will not be compatible. Now for the Xbox 360 version. Unlike the PSN version, Skullgirls Encore is a patched version of the original game, not a separate product. The publisher of the new version is MarvelousAQL (Microsoft does not allow self-publishing on Xbox 360). It looks like Encore is even further out, because MarvelousAQL can't submit the new build until after Christmas, but you can continue to play Skullgirls online during the transition. When the patch is ready, there will be a title update and a new mandatory Compatibility Pack DLC. Leaderboards, achievements and save data are unaffected, and previously bought DLC will still be compatible with Encore. But the character colour DLC bundle will be free for everyone for a limited time, and Squigly will be available and free at this point as well. The Steam version has already been updated. As it was self-published, it's unaffected.Konami is yet to comment on the issue that led to Skullgirls being delisted, but in this latest blog post Lab Zero Games claimed the Japanese company refused to submit the console patch unless it was able to fully test it - at great expense to Lab Zero Games. This caused Autumn Games to sever its distribution arrangement with Konami, in effect to clear the way for the IndieGoGo-funded downloadable content patches. Autumn then signed an agreement with MarvelousAQL to secure a replacement slot for the XBLA version. But Konami requested Skullgirls be delisted on PSN as of 17th December. Lab Zero Games only found out about this after Sony had agreed to the request. Konami then agreed to push this back to 31st December.

The PlayStation 4 is off to roaring start in France.
According to French video game website GameKult, Sony’s new console has sold 100,000 units since it launched on November 29th. The Xbox One, however, has sold less than half that figure.
Both are still being outsold by the Wii U, which has an install base of over 160,000 units in France, but that console had a year’s head start. Nintendo's next-gen platform has also seen a recent surge in sales thanks to Super Mario 3D World.
But Sony isn't just beating Microsoft in France. The PS4 has sold 80,000 units in Spain, compared to 25,000 from Xbox One. And Sony's console is outselling Microsoft's in the UK, of course.
GameKult estimates that half a million PS4s have been sold in Western Europe, but only 300,000 Xbox Ones.

Atlus, publisher on Daylight, has shared some story details about the upcoming exploration-based horror game. The game is set in 1983 on Mid Island and stars Sarah Gwynn, who one day wakes up in a derelict hospital to find herself all alone. The hospital, which has seen better days, was once going to be fitted as a high-end hospice care unit for the wealthy, but the company financing the renovation suddenly backed out at the last minute and left the hospital to rot.
And, surely enough, the hospital looks like it was suddenly vacated years ago, as you can see in the new bunch of screens in our gallery below. One day in the '40s, all of the staff and patients just upped and vanished. The hospital was forced to permanently close its doors in 1948 and presumably nobody has been back since.
Sarah will explore this derelict hospital, among other locations, in early 2014 when Daylight launches for the PC and PS4. The game runs on Unreal Engine 4 and is being written by Jessica Chobot, who also lends her voice as protagonist Sarah Gwynn.

Namco Bandai has released a pair of gameplay trailers for its upcoming anime-based brawler Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z, giving a lengthy demonstration of the game's single-player mode and cooperative multiplayer component.
Contrasting the many one-on-one fighters (and occasional Kinect oddities) based on Dragon Ball Z in recent years, Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z revolves around a single-player story mode in which players square off against series villains and wreak the kind of landscape-ruining havoc only Goku is capable of wreaking. Gameplay is inspired by the beat-'em-up genre, and stages take place in wide-open areas suited for flight and ranged attacks. Fly, Goku. Fly.
Dragon Ball Z is set to launch in North America on January 28 for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PS Vita,

250,000 consoles sold in two days means PS4 is already ahead in the next-gen console race.
But does a good launch really spell success for the future?
MCV talks to PlayStation president and CEO Andrew House on the future of its new machine, the role of retail and the death of consoles…
PS4 has enjoyed a strong launch. But then so did PSP and PS3, and neither platform went on to be market leaders. So does a good launch even matter?
I am going to give you a slightly contradictory answer. When two consoles of this scale comes to market almost simultaneously, it seems to have put video gaming back into the entertainment mainstream and back into people’s conversation, so the launches are important from that point of view.
It also sets the tone for how momentum is going to be for a platform’s lifecycle. The contradictory other side to that, is the old:?‘it is a marathon not a sprint’. A lifecycle is years long. It is not just about one night. But it is an important start in terms of staking out the road you are going to try and follow.
PS3 is almost 3m units behind Xbox 360 in the UK. From a global view, how vital is it that you turn around your performance in the UK?
It’s extremely important. On previous platforms we’ve enjoyed a stronger leadership position globally in many markets, and that strengthens the partnerships you can build with third parties, which is critical to the business. So the goal is absolutely, as far as possible, to get ourselves into the No.1 position in every market we operate in.
Let’s not lose sight of the fact that outside of the US and the UK, we are in that leadership position. But those are two key, critical markets, and PS4 – given the supply we have been able to generate to-date and given the value proposition versus the competition – has a really good opportunity to get us back into a better leadership position than we were in this lifecycle.
"Let’s not lose sight of the fact that outside of
the US and the UK, we are in that leadership
position. But those are two key, critical markets,
and PS4 – given the supply we have been able
to generate to-date and given the value proposition
versus the competition – has a really good
opportunity to get us back into a better leadership
position than we were in this lifecycle." Andrew House, Sony
80m PS3s sold is a good figure, but it falls short of PS2, which managed 150m overall, What are your aspirations for PS4?
PS4 has an opportunity to significantly exceed what we’ve been achieved with PS3. One reason is we start off with a price that is more consumer friendly than we had for PS3.
Also, one of the success stories, not just for ourselves but for the whole games business, has been our ability to open up new geographies for video games over the last five years. The PS2 success was achieved with Latin America being almost a non-existent market for consoles. We are seeing signs that finally China may open up to consoles with the establishment of the free trade zone in Shanghai. So there are opportunities for new markets that we haven’t tapped into.
Finally, we took several years to take PS3 from a dual-function device to a multi-functional entertainment machine. PS4 arrived with a full suite of non-game services from day one. There will be someone who wants this principally for playing video games, but the fact that it is a great place to experience BBC iPlayer, or the other 18 services, means that there are other reasons to purchase for other family members. That is really important in broadening the console’s reach.
Judging by the mood at E3 and Gamescom, it feels like Sony has a bit of the old confidence back.
That is a fair assessment. We had some struggles with PS3, but the important thing is that we learnt a lot from those experiences.
Anyone can point out how those learnings have translated into the decisions we’ve made around PS4 – selection of architecture, emphasis on ease of development, understanding PS4 had to be a highly connected and social experience. These were products of some tough learning we did on PS3. I believe the confidence we’re showing is because the feedback from gamers and developers is that we’ve got some of these decisions right. There has been more of a spring in the step from folks in the organisation that perhaps hadn’t been there for a while.
It’s been seven years since PS3. EA and Ubisoft told MCV that the wait was too long. Do you agree?
It’s hard to look back in hindsight and say: ‘It should have launched at this point.’ Because that is not how we approach the business. We don’t pick a year and launch a console then we ask:?‘What experience do we want that will be inspiring to creators and players that should constitute a new generation?’ And there’s a technology roadmap that goes against that. We target qualitative goals rather than temporal goals.

Sony Computer Entertainment CEO Andrew House says PlayStation Plus has provided a new audience to indie developers struggling with discoverability in the mobile space.
"With PlayStation Plus, we've almost stumbled upon a great way to connect independent games developers with an audience," PlayStation boss House told CVG contributor Steve Boxer.
"From what independent developers tell me, the mobile space is an increasing struggle for those looking to find an audience, so we have the opportunity to give two things to independent games developers.
"One is an opportunity to stretch their legs creatively, with differentiated interfaces and a big-screen experience. And the second thing is to connect them with an audience."
The headline feature of PS Plus is Instant Game Collection. It offers subscribers a rolling selection of PS4, PS3 and Vita games which remain accessible for as long as they are paying members.
House said: "Via PlayStation Plus, the Instant Game Collection experience has taken off, because people have that joy of discovering those new, quirky experiences that maybe they wouldn't have come across. That's a very strong area of emphasis for us."
Sony used the PS4 launch in November to make a number of significant changes to PS Plus.
PS4 owners are required to subscribe to PS Plus in order to play online multiplayer, which isn't the case on PS3 or Vita.
The thinking behind the decision to charge customers for online multiplayer on PS4 was explained to us by Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida in June.

Zen Pinball 2 will be released for PS4 a week later than previously expected in US, Zen Studios has confirmed, along with details on its content transfer system.
Originally due for release Stateside Tuesday, the game will now arrive in the region on December 24. The EU release date remains unchanged from tomorrow, December 18.
If you own Zen Pinball 2 for PS3 or Vita, you'll be able to transfer any tables purchased in those games to the PS4 version at no additional cost. But the process is not as clear-cut as you might expect.
Marvel and Star Wars Pinball on PS3 can't be imported directly, and there are no PS4-to-PS3 transfers. Developer Zen Studios has released a brief tutorial on the full import process and its restrictions:
- The tables can only import from Zen Pinball 2 > Zen Pinball 2. You cannot import from Marvel Pinball or Star Wars Pinball on PS3 > Zen Pinball 2 on PS4. You CAN import from Marvel or Star Wars Pinball on PS3 > Zen Pinball 2 on PS3 and then > PS4.
- There is no going backwards from PS4 > PS3. If you want to play the tables on PS3 in the future, we suggest you buy them on PS3 first and then import to PS4.
- For those of you who downloaded any of the applicable tables via PS+, you can import to PS4 just the same. However, if your PS+ account expires, you will lose access to the content.
Step-by-step walkthrough:
- Press the square button (Import Tables) on the collection screen to start the import process
- Please wait while the game is searching for tables available for import
- If there are tables available to import, the store will offer the next batch of content it has found. Press the x button (Enter) on each offered content's download icon to add them to downloads, then press the circle button (Back) to return to the collection screen, and if there are still tables to import, the store will offer them in the next batch. Repeat this process until all content is added to the download queue.
- Alternatively, if you want to import just a specific table, you can go to the table's menu, wait a few seconds while the game checks for availability and press the "Download and play!" button when it appears. As the store comes up, press the x button (Enter) on each offered content's download icon to add them to downloads, and press the circle button (Back) to return to the game.
- Wait until all downloads finish (you can check their progress in the PS4 user interface under Notifications/Downloads), and there you go! You can play your imported tables straight away.

PlayStation president and CEO Andrew House has said the company is "more committed to new IP establishment and delivery" than other platform holders.
Following the arrival of the PlayStation 4 in November, House has said development of new IP for the console is "critically important".
"In terms of sheer breadth and depth, we are in a better shape in terms of third party support for this console launch than certainly any I've ever launched," said House to MCV regarding the launch of PS4.
"And I do think that the early consumer is going to buy in if they sense that there is a roadmap of great content that is going to come down the pipe," added House, before stressing that the new IP delivery in 2014 is "critically important".
"We are more committed to new IP establishment and delivery than most other platform holders out there," he said.
Sony's major new IP currently announced for PS4 is The Order 1886, a game set in an alternate history that mixes Victorian-era London with relatively modern technologies and mythological monsters, in development at God of War PSP studio Ready at Dawn.
New third-party IPs coming in 2014 include Bungie's Destiny, and Ubisoft titles Watch Dogs and Tom Clancy's The Division.
