rpcs3 Git (2013/12/24) is compiled. rpcs3 is an open source PlayStation 3 (PS3) emulator for the Microsoft Windows. Current versions can run only small homebrew for PS3. Developers are planning to make it to emulate PS3 on its speed in the near future.

rpcs3 purpose:
- Make PS3 developers easily test their apps and homebrews on PC without crashing their PS3 or moving their apps from PC to PS3.
- Just playing PS3 games on your PC and have fun! ( In the future )

rpcs3 Git Changelog:
* Implemented LWZUX, LWAX, LWAUX, LHA, LHAU, LWA, STWBRX, STHBRX.

PS3 Game List v3.0 is released. PS3 Game List is a application that allows you to manage your list of PS3 games. It started out as a demo to test the Qt Framework functionality, but it evolved into a full feature C++ app. It allows users to download game updates.



PS3 Game List v3.0 Changelog:
- ATRAC3Plus audio decoding (PAM video files will now be played with the corresponding audio stream; configuration via settings dialog);
Windows Xp support is back;
- Game version and available languages are now included in the tooltip info (triggered by hovering the mouse over a populated list);
- Trophies can now be sorted by their value;
- Built with the latest major release of Qt, OpenSSL and compiler for improvements in speed, security and size;
- Fixed sorting updates by their count.

PCSX2 partners with AVG

As you all know, PCSX2 is a free open source project that has been in development since early 2001.
For all these years the team has tried to give you the best emulator possible, with everyone working on it voluntarily.

Now, after 12 years, development has slowed down considerably. This is due to both, the increased difficulty in ironing out the persistent bugs and also lack of motivation from the few remaining developers to dedicate the time that is needed.

A few months ago a representative of AVG, the maker of a well-known anti-virus solution, contacted us about a partnership offer.
After carefully considering the proposal, the team decided to accept the partnership with AVG which will generate some much-needed income by bundling the AVG SafeGuard product with PCSX2.

The money generated from this partnership will be divided among the team members to provide incentive and motivation to further improve PCSX2.
Using it we can invest in special hardware, recruit new coders or pay some bills, freeing up time for the project.

What this means for the end-user:
- Our full installer for the official windows release (and ONLY that) will now come bundled with the AVG SafeGuard toolbar. When installing users will be free to opt-out and NOT install it.
- If you decide to accept the AVG toolbar, you will directly help the team keep PCSX2 going.
- Users will have increased protection against visiting potentially dangerous websites, reducing the chance of getting viruses.
- The SafeGuard toolbar can be uninstalled like any other windows program. If you require further asssistance in the removal process we will be happy to help.

We care for our users and we have accepted this offer after being ensured the toolbar is harmless and can be easily uninstalled if and when a user decides to.
Still, if any of you have any problem you can ask for help in our forum and we will do our best to help you.

In the end, we believe this move will be for the benefit of the project and will play a significant role in improving PCSX2.

That said, we are already gearing up for a 1.2.0 release, so we will keep you posted when that happens!

Yifan Lu dives deep into hardware analysis of the PS Vita

You might remember Yifan Lu from a more or less private project of running unsigned code on the PS Vita through a native exploit. Or if you’re not very familiar with that aspect of the vita scene, you might know him as the guy who came up with a jailbreak for the kindle several years ago.



As he stated himself recently, the Vita has been out for 2 years, and nobody has even dumped its NAND yet (at least not publicly), while it happened for the PS4 2 weeks after its release. Deciding to take the matter in his own hands, Yifan Lu started a donation drive to get some hardware in order to look closely at the Vita’s hardware.

Namely, his goal for now is to try and dump the NAND. Now, depending on how well you know computer systems, such a goal might either sound like Klingon to you, or appear to be a trivial task that doesn’t deserve any excitement, or sound like a useless attempts… but let me describe why I think this is very cool.





I have no doubt that Sony have made their best to secure the Vita, both from hardware and software perspectives, so you shouldn’t expect a magical and immediate breakthrough from this attempt.

But that’s not why I am excited about this project. As a matter of fact, Yifan Lu admitted to have extremely limited experience in hardware hacking. And, as paradoxical as it may sound, this is exactly why I am interested in his experiment: he promised to document and report all his findings, and I think the project is extremely interesting for all of us who have absolutely no experience in that kind of stuff. His articles, including the donation drive itself, are a nice introduction into the world of hardware hacking, from a “noob’s” perspective.

In his first articles, Yifan Lu describes the hardware he uses, how he uses it, the mistakes he made, etc… That’s the type of information you will never get from seasoned hardware hackers, as they forgot how these basic things simply sound like voodoo magic to the rest of humans. A chosen bit:


“To remove the actual eMMC chip, keep the heat gun directed at the chip for a while, then use your pointy device to try to pry it off. Use a bit of force but not extreme force and be slow with the prying. This is because even though the solder below melts fairly quickly, the chip is held in place with some kind of glue”

PS Vita: King of Pool kernel exploit for Firmware 3.01

In this video you can see the new TN-V4 eCFW running at the firmware 3.01. This eCFW is able to run Homebrews, Plugins, ISOs, CSOs, PSOne games and custom Themes (CTFs).

The exploit game is "King of Pool", it is available in the EUROPEAN, AMERICAN, JAPANESE and ASIAN (HongKong) PSN Store and costs 4,99€, 2,99$, ~1320¥, 39,00 HK$. It is not available in the AUSTRALIAN PSN Store!

Since a kernel mode exploit is rare, you should really consider to get this one and you might want to stay at firmware 3.01, otherwise a firmware update could close the exploit.

The last kernel mode exploit was released a year ago (31st december 2012) by frostegater, and it took one year to get another kernel mode exploit for the public!

PS Vita: MegaMix kernel exploit for Firmware 3.01

In this video you can see the new TN-V4 eCFW running at the firmware 3.01. This eCFW is able to run Homebrews, Plugins, ISOs, CSOs, PSOne games and custom Themes (CTFs).

The exploit game is "101-in-1 MegaMix", it is available in the EUROPEAN and AMERICAN PSN Store and costs 9,99€ / 9,99$. It is not available in the JAPANESE PSN Store, but we will release another title, that can run TN-V4 for you japanese folks, dont worry!

Since a kernel mode exploit is rare, you should really consider to get this one and you might want to stay at firmware 3.01, otherwise a firmware update could close the exploit.

The last kernel mode exploit was released a year ago (31st december 2012) by frostegater, and it took one year to get another kernel mode exploit for the public!

Killzone Shadow Fall free multiplayer trial confirmed for EU

Sony has confirmed that, alongside US gamers, EU-residing PlayStation Plus subscribers will also be treated to free access to Killzone Shadow Fall's multiplayer mode this Christmas.
As previously announced for the US, the trial period, taking place from December 28-31, will exclusively allow PS Plus subs to play the multiplayer mode from Killzone Shadowfall for free.
The 'Trial' version of the game is available for pre-download now in both regions, allowing interested gamers to have their copy installed and ready ahead of the four-day trial period.
Sony is yet to specify the contents of the trial, but all indications so far point to the full multiplayer mode being made available.
Killzone Shadow Fall was a PS4 launch-day title and the fourth game (excluding portable entries) in Guerrilla Games' flagship PlayStation-exclusive FPS series.
In CVG's Killzone Shadow Fall review, critic Steve Boxer says the game "doesn't seek to reinvent the FPS, but it does inject a much-needed infusion of creativity and originality into the genre".
