Kazuma Kiryu, the protagonist of the first Yakuza, is named Fourth Chairman of the Tojo Clan but unexpectedly retires from life in the clan the same day. However, his personally chosen successor is assassinated by a former allied gang called the Omi. These events set in motion an engrossing storyline that sees Kazuma travelling through Japan, on what could be the last opportunity to stave off an all-out war between the Tojo and Omi clans.
"We are thrilled to treat the gamers in Europe to the sequel of the critically acclaimed Yakuza," said Gary Knight, European Marketing Director, SEGA Europe Ltd. "Yakuza 2 is one of the most requested Japanese titles in our portfolio and we’re delighted to finally announce a European version."

This is a simple plugin I made a long time ago for my personal use. I just found the source code while going through some old stuff on my computer, so I thought I'd clean up the code a bit and release the plugin.
I realize that there are other plugins that feature similar functionality but I wrote my own because I wanted to be sure its coded optimally, as there are a few careless ways in which these functions can be improperly used (the point of this after all is to conserve battery life).
It does the following when the Hold switch is enabled:
* Switches off the LCD backlight.
* Switches off the actual LCD screen.
(This is important because the backlight and actual screen are two different things. You can have an image being displayed on the screen while the backlight is switched off, such that you can see the image if you use a flashlight. You can also have the screen switched off while the backlight still illuminates the powered off screen.)
* Underclocks the CPU to 61MHz
(Sony has changed the clock speed functions such that only certain combinations of speeds work correctly. Simply trying to underclock to arbitrary values will result in the CPU simply running at the stock speed. I have verified that Hold+ successfully underclocks to 61MHz.)
* The original screen brightness and clock speed are restored when the Hold switch is released.
* Prevents the PSP from going into suspend mode if you accidently push the power switch too far when turning off Hold mode.
* Allows operation of the PSP with the display turned off, to change volume, skip songs etc.
* Turns off LEDs in Hold mode. LEDs are flashed once in 30 seconds so that the PSP is not mistaken to be powered off.
Usage:
Turn on the Hold switch to automatically disable the display and underclock the CPU. Turn off the Hold switch to return the CPU to normal speed and enable the display.
If you push the ANALOG UP button when turning on the hold switch, it will only lock the keypad like normal Hold mode. The display and CPU speed will not be changed, so that you can watch videos etc. with the keypad locked.
If you push the ANALOG UP button when turning off the hold switch, the display will remain switched off and the CPU will remain underclocked, but you can operate the PSP. This is useful if you just need to adjust the volume, fast forward/rewind, or to skip to the next song, without unnecessarily turning on the display. To return to normal, push the power switch to the suspend position, or just press the Screen button.
Installation:
You can install it in the seplugins folder, and make an entry in VSH.txt. Thus it will be active in the XMB. Its also possible to use it in games by adding it to GAME.txt, but some games may crash etc., if the CPU is underclocked to such a low value.
Optionally, its also possible to install it in your PSP's flash0 so that it will work without a memory card. For this you can use FreePlay's "NewBTCFNedit" and enable it for VSH mode in the all the PSPBT?NF.bin files. Add it after vshmain.prx.
Advanced:
If you want to change the clock speed to your own values, you can use a hex editor to change them. The offsets in the file for v2.7 are
0x4C0, 0x4C4 - CPU,GPU (Both should be same)
0x4CC - Bus (Should be half the CPU speed or less)
The values should be entered in hexadecimal. The default value for CPU/GPU is 3C (60 MHz in decimal) and the default value for bus is 1E (30 MHz in decimal).
Note that simply using any arbitrary value will not work. You will have to test and see which values for CPU/GPU and Bus speed work.
Credits:
Thanks to adrahil for helping with preventing the suspend mode.
Changelog v2.7
----------------------------------
LEDs are turned off when in Hold mode or Display Off mode, but they are flashed every 30 seconds so that the PSP is not mistaken to be powered off.
Fixed a bug introduced in v2.64 where the PSP wouldn't automatically suspend after being idle while in Hold mode or Display Off mode.

The Star Wars saga will continue in Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, a videogame developed by LucasArts, which casts players as Darth Vader's "Secret Apprentice" and promises to unveil new revelations about the Star Wars galaxy. The expansive story, created under direction from George Lucas, is set during the largely unexplored era between Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. In it, players will assist the iconic villain in his quest to rid the universe of Jedi - and face decisions that could change the course of their destiny.
As its name implies, The Force Unleashed completely re-imagines the scope and scale of the Force by taking full advantage of newly developed technologies that will be seen and experienced for the first time: Digital Molecular Matter (DMM), by Pixelux Entertainment, and euphoria by NaturalMotion Ltd. Paired with the powerful Havok Physics™ system, these new technologies create gameplay only possible on the new generation of consoles. DMM incorporates the physical properties of anything in the environment so that everything reacts exactly like it should - wood breaks like wood, glass shatters like glass, plants on the planet Felucia bend like plants on the planet Felucia would, and more. Meanwhile, as a revolutionary behavioural-simulation engine, euphoria enables interactive characters to move, act and even think like actual human beings, adapting their behaviour on the fly and resulting in a different payoff every single time.
The long-in-development L.A. Noire, a collaboration between Rockstar and ex-Getaway alumni at Australia's Team Bondi, may no longer be exclusive to PlayStation 3. The title – which has been shrouded in mystery befitting of its film noire trappings – was originally rumored to be bankrolled by Sony itself for release solely on its platform.
Speaking at GC Asia '08, Game Developers' Association of Australia president Tom Crago said that, from what he surmises, development on the game has "another year or so to go." He also revealed that it "could be the biggest budget video game in development anywhere in the world," calling it a "massive, massive project." Crago also indicated that the game is in development for both PS3 and 360, which, if true, would rule it out as the PS3-exclusive Rockstar project Sony has been touting once and for all.

Ruled by a royal family believed to be descended from the gods, Fantasinia is a prosperous and tranquil land — until the peace is shattered by the invading forces of the Empire of Bronquia. At least one of those GameStop eXpo rumors turned out to be true: Square Enix has confirmed in a press release that Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories, a PlayStation 2 remake of the Game Boy Advance title, is coming to the US on December 2.
The PS2 version has been available in Japan since March 2007. It will retail here for $30 and includes voiceovers from Haley Joel Osmont and David Gallagher. As a friendly reminder, PS2 titles are only going to work on select older PS3 models.
Everybody's favorite Mega Man -- who's not actually a man, but, in fact, a robotic boy with an insatiable lust for power and a proficiency for murderous kleptomania -- will kick off his throwback, comeback tour in North America later this month. Capcom has confirmed that Mega Man 9 will leap through Wiiware's shutter next week, on September 22nd, with the PlayStation Network version following on September 25th (for $9.99). Xbox Live Arcade will have to make do with October 1st.
Whichever version you end up buying, there's no question that you'll end up dying. But hey, since it's for everlasting peace, it's for a worthy cause
A PlayStation Home beta participant with access to a restricted PlayStation Forums thread has passed along a potential release month -- October -- for the next major PlayStation 3 firmware update (v2.50), PS3 Fanboy reports. The date was suggested by Home manager "TedTheDog" who clarified, "late October is my guess." The update will supposedly include a bug fix for freezing and network errors currently affecting Home users.
Ted (just "Ted" is okay, right?) also hints that Home v1.00 could coincide with firmware v2.50's release -- Home is currently at v0.98. Common sense, while not always a part of Sony's repertoire, tells us that Home 1.0 is the version that goes public -- we'll see. We should note that the Home beta was further expanded today, supporting the possibility of a public release next month.

During his keynote address in Singapore, Crytek's Cevat Yerli outlined a history of game graphics, then told his audience at the Games Convention Asia that the next generation of their proprietary technology would be available for the next generation of console hardware in 2012.
While PC hardware is in contestant flux, the consoles give developers a fixed window of constraints. And because Crytek games use high-tone graphics engines, they must start designing for the future.
Which means the company is starting to estimate when the next-gen consoles will be on the market. "Sony knows, but they wouldn't tell us," said Yerli. "But our estimate is 2011, or 2012." He adds that he expects the next Xbox a year before the PS4.
Having estimated the console cycle, Crytek must now consider the technology inside the boxes, because the hardware will create new challenges.
"That knowledge should be used to differentiate your game from the competition," says Yerli, explaining why it's imperative to shift now, instead of saying 'I will get the last twenty-percent of performance from this graphics cycle.'
Yerli says that processors are on a collision course: GPUs are getting more towards general purpose computing, and CPUs are getting more towards parallel processing. "The GPUS and CPUS are on a collision course."
European? Here's how PlayTV - the television set-top box and recorder for the PlayStation 3 - actually works. Right down to tracking down to the important stuff, like chimps and the football highlights. American? Here's how it'd work if you were actually getting PlayTV. But you have TiVo, so you don't really need it.

Sony has stuffed Fracture and Soulcalibur IV demos on the PlayStation Store this week.
The former, an earth-moving shooter, is not due out until October. The latter has been on sale since late July and there's even been a review. Soulcalibur IV's not terribly different to the rest of the series, either, except for shinier graphics, Star Wars characters, and some fancy super-move mechanics.
The Store has an NBA Live 09 demo on offer as well.
Meanwhile, the recent release of Rock Band on PS3 has brought with it of additional tracks to download. These are "All Over Again", "Don't Make Me Wait" and "She Does" by Locksley, which be bought for GBP 0.99 each, or in a pack of three for GBP 2.49.
There's also "Livin' At The Corner of Dude & Catastrophe" by MC Frontalot, "Shhh" by The Darkest of the Hillside Thickets, and "Skullcrusher Mountain" by Jonathan Coulton.
These can snapped up for GBP 0.59 a piece, or as part of the Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) 2008 Collection pack for GBP 1.69.
The key to export Rock Band 1 songs to Rock Band 2 has been added to our Store as well, but, well, that's a bit useless - what with the sequel carrying no European release date yet.
Apart from a spattering of wallpapers, themes, and some forgettable trailers to watch, that's about it.
