What on earth is going on with Left 4 Dead? Last week we had the Australian classifications board saying there was to be a Nintendo DS port (dismissed by Doug Lombardi as "Nonsense") and now.. this.
Two readers sent us links to two separate online retailers, both of whom list a PS3 version of Left 4 Dead as being available from November. November the 7th, according to Play.com.
This seemed to confirm the Official PlayStation mag story back in August that EA were working on a port of the Zombie survive-em-up

As announced during last month's EA Studio Showcase event, Burnout Paradise will become the first previously retail-only PS3 game offered for download in its entirety from the PlayStation Store. Developer Criterion Games has updated its Burnout blog with news that the game will be available this Thursday, Sept. 25, as part of the store's weekly update (which usually goes live at 2 p.m. PST).
The game download will cost $29.99, the same price as the disc-based retail release. If you don't already own Burnout Paradise, this is a great opportunity to get in on a superb racer ... without having to bust out the game disc every time you want to play. No stats on the download's size have been revealed, but we've contacted EA for details and will update when we get them. Criterion has announced that, upon starting the game, buyers will be prompted to download all of the (free) content that it has cooked up since launch, including last week's Bikes Pack.

It took awhile to shake out, but the DRM nastiness associated with the Sony Video Store is becoming an issue now that those tiny PS3 hard drives are beginning to fill-up. Turns out that if you delete purchased video to free-up space then you'll have to place a call to Sony customer service to authorize a one-time only re-download from your PSN download list. Not too horrible, after all, you can just swap out the hard drive yourself and then migrate all your video, right? Probably not -- as spelled out by the terms and conditions of Sony's Backup Utility:
If you perform any of the following operations after backing up, copyright-protected video files in the backup data may not restore correctly.
Format the hard disk Restore the PS3™ system Move copyright-protected video Download copyright-protected video Play copyright-protected video that has a time restriction for the first time In other words, your PS3 (and up to 3 PSPs) owns the purchased video, you do not.

Japan's Nikkan is reporting that Sony and Toshiba will begin mass production of the 45nm Cell processor in 2009 -- not this autumn as previously rumored. The smaller chip which cost less than the current 65nm Cell to manufacture also require 40% less power to run. This opens the door to possible price drops on existing PS3 consoles in 2009 as well as slimmer, cooler running rigs should Sony decide to refresh the industrial design.

First off this comes from a website with an extremely dodgy past who have also lied and made more enemies in every scene than anyone i can remember, so i wont link to them, but for interests sake heres the info from ps3news.com
First, a small technical explanation. We were not able to modify any data on the PS3's flash chips due to the ECC. The ECC is a checksum basically, that ensures whatever data is in the block is not changed or corrupted, and if it is it errors. So, the problem was since when we tried to alter data, the ECC would then in turn be invalid, causing errors, making the system not boot. We did develop a way around this, however, it was time consuming and quite slow. We used the PS3 to write data to the flash, then dump it, with its proper ECC, then rewrite to where we needed it. This would take hours on end! We were not able to regenerate the ECC since we did not know the proper algorithm. But now, we can!!
After multiple tests done by NDT to see what the ECC algorithm was when the block was filled with some magic data, our very own RPS was able to reverse the algorithm!
What does this mean? Simple, we are now able to in minutes properly edit a flash dump, regenerate the ECC and flash it onto the PS3 in order to experiment with flash changes. Using this, we have already found where the encrypted keys are stored for SELF's, PKG's, and BD Pairing among other things, more on that in the weeks to come.
Furthermore, NDT implemented RPS's ECC regeneration code into his newest FlowRebuilder, which will be posted next week!
Finally, this has already saved one PS3! Hacked2123's PS3, which bit the dust long ago due to a bad flash was recently fixed thanks to RPS's ECC Regeneration code which was built into NDT's newest FlowRebuilder!
His PS3 had bad data that did not match the ECC data, resulting in a plethora of issues. However, as described here, it is now fixed!

With my plugin you can control the power with L+R.
Please remember im still a 13 years old boy from the Netherlands, so my voice is childish and i cant speak english that good.

via Computer and Video Games
Yes, Mega Man 9 looks f-ing brilliant, but one extra treat that has people talking are the insanely tough Achievements in the Xbox 360 version.
With ridiculous challenges like finishing the game without dying, or multiple times in one day, they look set to become some of the most prestigious Achievements in any game. But sadly, the PS3 won't be getting the same treatment.
Capcom's Jon Diamonon, who recently officially confirmed the game for PSN for $9.99 (£6 here, maybe) has revealed that the PSN version will not have Trophy support. When asked, he simply said: "Sorry, no trophies."
That doesn't mean the challenges won't be in there - we've seen the Wii version which does have the same challenges as 360, but only as a game-specific feature, so we expect the same of the PS3 version. But you won't be getting any trophies to show off to mates, though.
Without trophies, would you bother with the challenges?
