Uberjack has released a new version of the best NeoGeo Pocket Emulator for the PSP:
The latest release of RACE! PSP includes state saving, and the test switch that I mentioned earlier. The switch enables developer-level access to Card Fighters’ Clash, Card Fighters’ Clash 2, Dokodemo Mahjong, and possibly other games.
To enable the test switch/button, map it to any PSP button via the ‘Control’ tab — it’s unmapped by default. With regard to save state feature, I ask that you take its functionality with a grain of salt — at least until more folks report how well it works.
For those of you who are adventurous, please run some tests by saving/loading different games, and post your experience in comments. Thanks

Both the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Golden Axe: Beast Rider will be out here on October 17, Sega has just confirmed.
As you can tell from the title, leaping on the backs of big man-munching creatures is key to the update of Sega's classic hack-'em-up.
It's a prequel, too. "Players will discover events that took place before the original storyline as Tyris Flare, the famous half-Gladiator/half-Barbarian heroine, begins the epic quest to avenge her tribe," explains Sega.
Could be cool.

Sony has pushed the release of LittleBigPlanet forward to 24th October (22nd for mainland Europe) - a week earlier than expected.
There will be a Sackboy Spaceman costume and rare T-shirt available to download from launch, but for a limited period of time only - a treat for the early birds.
Developer Media Molecule plans plenty of additional content for the future, and wants help from the fans when deciding what to make.
However, the online multiplayer version of the game's level-creation tool won't make it in for launch as originally promised, and will instead be added as a post-launch patch. Offline creation with up to four players will be supported in the launch version of the game.
Media Molecule will be running a limited public beta test for LittleBigPlanet this month, with more details on how to get involved expected nearer the time.
LittleBigPlanet is a charming platform game for up to four people and includes around 50 pre-made levels on the disc. Of course, the real talking point is the built-in toolset that enables the community to get involved by creating and sharing their own levels.
Head over to our LittleBigPlanet gamepage to find out more.

The initial launch version of LittleBigPlanet will lack a promised feature that was to allow up to four players to use the create mode together online.
Posting on the official PlayStation forums, a developer under the alias 'Sam_Protagonist' revealed: "The ability to create with your friends online will come as part of the first major update after the game is released. Offline creating with up to 4 people on one PlayStation 3 however is available right from the get go."
They went on: "The next question will undoubtedly be 'when is the first update due' and right now there is no specific time set at the moment, however with the game having gone gold, the team at Media Molecule are already hard at work on content for the game after its release, with online multiplayer creating top of the list."
The game will be out here on October 24.

Grasshopper boss Goichi Suda (Suda51) has said that his PSone game The Silver Case will be heading to PSN.
There's no word on a date, according to 1UP, or whether the game will be officially coming West - still, popping on a Japanese PSN disguise and grabbing the title from the Japanese store should be doable.
The Silver Case appeared back in 1999, but only ever made it as far as Japanese shops. The game is based around a series of murders that are investigated from two different points of view: police detectives, and a freelance writer.
Grasshopper has been responsible for some of the wackier games of recent years, including Killer 7 and No More Heroes, both of which were well-received by critics.
This, then, should be worth a look. We'll let you know when more information surfaces.

Release Notes:
Here you have it, an all-in-one solution for your Pandora Needs.
This program is designed to prepare your PSP Memory Stick to be used with the Pandora Battery. Unfortunately this program can not change your Battery to Pandora, however it will copy programs to the Memory Stick in order for you to do this yourself.
This version has had a few small changes in the Interface, hopefully making it easier to set up your configuration the way you like it. It also now includes an option to launch DC 5 from the Time Machine IPL (by holding in a button when the PSP boots).
I have also made it possible to select nearly any button to use with the Time Machine loader, except for the Right Trigger (RTrigger) which is left reserved for the M33 Recovery Menu.
Hold+ has also been included in the Support Tools.
I hope you enjoy this new release...
WARNING: THIS PROGRAM WILL FORMAT AND INSTALL THE IPL LOADER TO THE DRIVE LETTER YOU SELECT AS YOUR PSP DRIVE, SO MAKE SURE IT IS THE CORRECT DRIVE BEFORE PROCEEDING. I DO NOT TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR FORMATTED USB HARD DRIVES ETC...

Hi all
just for some fun i decided to make a anti-demo for the psp
what is a demo?
demo's have grown up over the years to be basically real time computer music videos, showcasing the finest artists, epic soundtracks, and the most leet coding available today
what is an anti-demo?
crappytro! featuring low end graphics, a cheesy soundtrack, and just for good measure i scripted it all in luaplayer
since it is scripted in luaplayer you will need to be able to run firmware 1.5 applications, i tried to get it working in lphm ... but it wanted to error out without the slightest hint of why
i also tried the "slim" version found at xtremelua and it would not load fonts
then theres a "slim" version on luaplayer.org made by "some guy" it worked, but it was sooooo slow, so unless you know something i dont its just going to have to be on 1.5 firmware
anyway, i hope you all enjoy this short little showcase

News/release from Torch:
This is a simple plugin I made a long time ago for my personal use. I just found the source code while going through some old stuff on my computer, so I thought I'd clean up the code a bit and release the plugin.
I realize that there are other plugins that feature similar functionality but I wrote my own because I wanted to be sure its coded optimally, as there are a few careless ways in which these functions can be improperly used (the point of this after all is to conserve battery life).
It does the following when the Hold switch is enabled:
* Switches off the LCD backlight.
* Switches off the actual LCD screen.
(This is important because the backlight and actual screen are two different things. You can have an image being displayed on the screen while the backlight is switched off, such that you can see the image if you use a flashlight. You can also have the screen switched off while the backlight still illuminates the powered off screen.)
* Underclocks the CPU to 61MHz
(Sony has changed the clock speed functions such that only certain combinations of speeds work correctly. Simply trying to underclock to arbitrary values will result in the CPU simply running at the stock speed. I have verified that Hold+ successfully underclocks to 61MHz.)
* The original screen brightness and clock speed are restored when the Hold switch is released.
* Prevents the PSP from going into suspend mode if you accidently push the power switch too far when turning off Hold mode.
* Allows operation of the PSP with the display turned off, to change volume, skip songs etc.
* Turns off LEDs in Hold mode. LEDs are flashed once in 30 seconds so that the PSP is not mistaken to be powered off.
Usage:
Turn on the Hold switch to automatically disable the display and underclock the CPU. Turn off the Hold switch to return the CPU to normal speed and enable the display.
If you push the ANALOG UP button when turning on the hold switch, it will only lock the keypad like normal Hold mode. The display and CPU speed will not be changed, so that you can watch videos etc. with the keypad locked.
If you push the ANALOG UP button when turning off the hold switch, the display will remain switched off and the CPU will remain underclocked, but you can operate the PSP. This is useful if you just need to adjust the volume, fast forward/rewind, or to skip to the next song, without unnecessarily turning on the display. To return to normal, push the power switch to the suspend position, or just press the Screen button.
Installation:
You can install it in the seplugins folder, and make an entry in VSH.txt. Thus it will be active in the XMB. Its also possible to use it in games by adding it to GAME.txt, but some games may crash etc., if the CPU is underclocked to such a low value.
Optionally, its also possible to install it in your PSP's flash0 so that it will work without a memory card. For this you can use FreePlay's "NewBTCFNedit" and enable it for VSH mode in the all the PSPBT?NF.bin files. Add it after vshmain.prx.
Advanced:
If you want to change the clock speed to your own values, you can use a hex editor to change them. The offsets in the file for v2.7 are
0x4D4, 0x4D8 - CPU,GPU (Both should be same)
0x4E0 - Bus (Should be half the CPU speed or less)
The values should be entered in hexadecimal. The default value for CPU/GPU is 3C (60 MHz in decimal) and the default value for bus is 1E (30 MHz in decimal).
Note that simply using any arbitrary value will not work. You will have to test and see which values for CPU/GPU and Bus speed work.
Changelog v2.71
----------------------------------
Fixed a bug where after the first time you resume from suspend the Analog Up + Hold Switch Off would not work.

News/release from Red Squirrel
What's it?
It is an Alternative VshMenu that has ALL same functions of the M33 VshMenu and other utilities such as the possibility to change the background color, to power off and to sleep the console, to activate and to disactivate M33 VshMenu from dashboard or to make screenshot of XMB!
Press HOME (by Default) in XMB to start the Alternative VshMenu!
Press CIRCLE (by Default) in Menu to close it.
Features
v6.0
- Added FIVE new background colours
- Now Alternative VshMenu can not be started before of 3 seconds: in this way you can avoid console crashes when you accidentally start it during coldboot or returning from games.
- Now there will be a pause of about one second when you exit from A. VshMenu: in this way your key pressing will not have any effect on XMB (like happened in past).
- Changed HIDE MAC ADDRESS function in AUTO USB CONNECTION: if you enable it, USB connection will be enable always in XMB! In this way when you connect a USB cable your PSP will be connected to your PC/PS3 without you have to press on special icon! (like in PSP-3000).
- Changed CXMB PLUGIN function in LANGUAGE: now you can select your language from the menu of A. VshMenu! In this first version, there will be only two language: Italian and English.
- Changed M33 VSHMENU in SELECT KEY: now you can choose what to associate to SELECT key in XMB (M33 VshMenu, a Homebrew, Nothing).
- Erased all difference of code between CF 3.90/3.95GEN/4.01M33: now plugin will be the same in all CFs.
- Added a homebrew-flasher for the plugin: it will flash the Alternative VshMenu in your Flash0 directly from PSP without other steps!
- Cleaned the code to try to compensate the increase of the PRX size caused by language translations..
UPDATE: this is a little bugfix for v6.0!
Infact v6.0 had a bug that disabled the plugin in first position in VSH.txt when you exit from it. Now fixed. If you have flashed v.6.0, don't use the flasher (homebrew or Windows program) again, but manually replace vshmenu.prx in flash0:/kd/ with the new one.
Some more notes from Red Squirrel:
-Do not flash this plugin erasing M33 satelite.prx! In this case Alternative VSHMenù does not work!
-The Homebrew-Flasher used in this version is still a beta so use it only at your own risk.
If you want to use the "old" method to flash the plugin, please follow the guide inserted in Patch2Flash folder!
-In this version language translation are included in the plugin! So the .PRX file size has been increased: for this reason, if you want to flash it, be sure to have the need free space in your Flash0 before beginning the flashing process!!!
In future I will insert language translation in a separated file to avoid this issue.
-In this version there are only two language: English and Italian.
If you want, you can make a particular translation of A. VSHMenù and then send it to me at redsquirrel@psp-cheats.it.
But please, don't use very long words! Indeed try to use the exact number of letter used by English Traslation.
-By default the SELECT button will be associated to a homebrew: so place one in PSP/GAME/HOMEBREW/ directory, or disable/change that option.
If you press SELECT when it is associated to a homebrew but no homebrew is in /PSP/GAME/HOMEBREW/ directory PSP will freeze!

A tipster to PS3 Fanboy sent in a screenshot of a forum post in which the manager of the Home beta says firmware version 2.5 is likely for "later October," with the 1.0 of Home releasing simultaneous to that. Seems the Home testers had found a bug that froze the PS3 and/or created sporadic network errors. When they asked when it'd be fixed, this was the answer: "We are waiting for a system software update to the PS3 to deal with this. 2.5 is what we're waiting for and 'October' is what I've heard, later October is my guess."
More useful to you, perhaps, is the fact the Home closed beta test was reopened for "thousands of new testers" sometime on Friday. I assume you can still apply for an invitation to test it, if you want to shoot some virtual stick or do some white-man-overbite dancing in their virtual bars.

Some audio-stank on Sony out in Malaysia today for the region launch of the PlayStation 3 there. Tipster Marauderz filmed and sent us this vid, which is Naoi Sudo, managing director, Sony Malaysia, taking the stage to a familiar and very not-Sony video game theme. For gamers of a certain age, this would be like Andre the Giant entering the ring to "Real American."
Marauderz said the tune was played twice. I'm wondering who got yelled at. I'm also wondering if using anything from Final Fantasy would have made things better or worse. As for going with something like the MGS4 theme, Marauderz said the launch lineup didn't include many new games. "You could say our launch lineup was the same as the original launch line up, with LESS games. Really wasn't something to write home about with the booth zombies telling people games like Lair weren't released yet."
A writeup of the launch event indicates Resistance, Ratchet and Clank Future, Assassin's Creed, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, and Soul Calibur 4 were available at launch in some form (including many together in one bundle) with everything else on some kind of a pre-order basis.

Upcoming world creation game LittleBigPlanet has gone gold, and will be officially released on Oct. 21st in the US. The game will come out exclusively for the PS3, in part due to the fact that it fills up a Blu-ray disc. The list of trophies was leaked alongside the announcement. Groups of students at Parsons will be using a 24-hour period this weekend to create levels for the game. Gamespy has a collection of videos and previews for LittleBigPlanet. To protect users' creations, it will feature an in-game copyright system

Newly released in the UK
Product Description
Manufacturer's Description
RETURNING FROM THE DEPTHS OF EVIL
Shattering time and space, the venomous Serpent King Orochi kidnapped the DYNASTY WARRIORS and SAMURAI WARRIORS in a scheme to test his might. The heroes eventually defeated Orochi and his menacing army. While the slain Orochi lies in the netherworld, a mysterious alliance is hatching an otherworldly plan so that the Serpent King may rise again. Now a new group of warriors must join forces with history's finest in an effort to stop this evil resurrection.
STORY MODE: THE SAGA CONTINUES...
WARRIORS OROCHI 2 takes place after the events of the original game. The game's main Story Mode features storylines for the kingdoms of Wu, Wei, and Shu, and the SAMURAI WARRIORS, while a new Orochi storyline looks back to the first series of wars to expose some of the Serpent King's secrets. (Includes 2P Co-op)
ADDITIONAL GAME MODES
A new two-player Versus Mode comes action-packed with four different games including "Tag Team" matches that pit individual fighters in lethal head-to-head combat.
Survival Mode is based on the rules of Versus Mode's Tag Team, but designed for a single player. In Survival Mode, each opponent is controlled by the CPU. Various rewards are granted based on the player's total wins.
A "Tag Team" match in the Survival Mode arena. (PlayStation 2 screen shown)
Free Mode allows you to play any unlocked stage with a team of your choice. The Gallery showcases hundreds of stills of characters and weapons, as well as all of the game's cut scenes.
One of two new stages: The Wuhang Mountains.
TEAM BATTLE SYSTEM IMPROVED
The popular "Team Battle System" lets players create their own three-person fighting unit. At any given time, one warrior will be engaged in battle, while the other two are recuperating; restoring their Life Meters and Musou Gauges.
WARRIORS OROCHI 2 includes two new improvements to the "Team Battle System" controls. When your active character is being attacked, press either the L2 or R2 button (Left Trigger or Right Trigger for the Xbox 360) to have one of your team members defend you. But if the active character's life is low, press both buttons to invoke a coordinated Triple Attack by all three of your team members. Both of these attacks will deplete your Musou gauge.
OVER 90 PLAYABLE CHARACTERS
WARRIORS OROCHI 2 features an overwhelming lineup of over 90 playable characters from both franchises including SAMURAI WARRIORS2 XTREME LEGENDS, plus new characters from Chinese and Japanese history.
Attack Categories and Special Attacks
In the game, all characters belong to one of three Attack Categories (Power, Speed, and Technique). Each of these Attack Categories features a different Special Attack. Awareness of these different offensive strengths will be a vital step towards victory. Each Attack category has its own "Special Attack" plus an "enhanced skill" or a "unique action." Characters in the "Technique" attack category possess all three.
"Special Attacks" are performed by pressing the R1 button.
"Unique actions" are performed by pressing the "Jump" or "Special Attack" buttons in certain situations.
"Enhanced skills" do not require any action by the player.
Attack Category: Power
Each warrior in the Power Category possesses a "Power Attack," which can inflict significant damage or provide a strength boost. These warriors also possess "Hyper Armor" that prevents them from being knocked back by normal and arrow attacks when the player is on the offensive.
Attack Category: Speed
Warriors in the Speed category are adept at "Combination Maneuvers," which can be deployed consecutively from ordinary attacks. Speed warriors can also use the skills Aerial Thrust, propelling them through mid-air, and Aerial Escape, enabling them to jump up and away in mid-attack.
Attack Category: Technique.
The Special Attack for Technique warriors is called "Enhanced Strike." By pressing the R1 button in place of the triangle button in any combination, the effects of the attack will be multiplied, in exchange for using up the Musou gauge. Additionally, Counter Strike can be used by pressing the R1 button directly after taking damage. This produces a powerful counterattack in exchange for using up the Musou Gauge.
Character Attributes
All of the characters possess ten different attributes. These attributes are: Life, Musou Gauge, Offensive strength, Defensive strength, Speed, Combos, Abilities, Weapon strength, Proficiency and Special Attacks (based on character's Attack category)
