Sony Japan's PlayStation Awards, which recognises game sales in the country, has failed to crown any Platinum or Double Platinum award winners this year.
Titles have to hit 1 million games shipped for the Platinum award or 2 million for Double Platinum, but only Gold awards could be handed out this year, which recognise sales of over 500,000 units.
Those winners were published by Siliconera, and were all PS3 titles, with Vita failing to make any sort of impression on the gold category.
- World Soccer Winning Eleven 2012
- Mobile Suit Gundam: Extreme Vs.
- Final Fantasy XIII-2
- One Piece: Pirate Warriors
- Resident Evil 6
Instead the PlayStation Vita Special Prize honoured the handheld's best selling titles.
- Uncharted: Golden Abyss
- Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational
- Gravity Rush
- Persona 4: Golden
- Hatsune Miku: Project Diva f
On the PlayStation Store Special Prize, for the most downloaded PSN titles, arty adventure Journey was top of the list.
- Journey
- Castlevania: Harmony of Despair
- Mobile Suit Gundam: Battle Operation
- JoJo's Bizarre Adventure HD
- Nico Nico app
The awards also give out trophies based on users' votes, with games like Gravity Rush and Persona 4: Golden recognised by the User's Choice Prize, which focuses on Japanese games, and Uncharted 3, Call of Duty 3: Modern Warfare and Journey all appearing in the User's Choice Prize World Game Category.

Soywiz's Psp Emulator Git (2012/11/29) is compiled. Soywiz's Psp Emulator is a PlayStation Portable (PSP) emulator, emulator for windows. This emulator born as a proof of concept of an emulator made in D. Now it's getting more and more compatible with homebrew, and gaining in features and speed. The emulator was based in it's first version on great Noxa's C# pspplayer emulator.
Soywiz's Psp Emulator Git Changelog:
* - Refactorings on MipsAssembler to support vrot
- Implemented vfpu instructions: vrot, vmidt, vmzero, vmone, vmmov, vmmul
* - Reimplemented Vfpu lv.q
* - Reimplemented vfpu: sv.q
- Some cleanups
- Added translation for "Utils: Enable &Ast optimizations"
- Fixed forever-loop test that prevented from running all tests
- Fixed some tests
* - Add menu option to enable AstOptimizations (enabled by default)
- Disabled jump labels (for now) it seems that cause lots of bugs so I have to figure out why
* - Some improvements
* - Now the whole cpu is using the AST
* - Small shortcut for generating HleModuleHost.Proxy
* - Converted HleModuleHost.Proxy to AST
* - WIP transforming HleModuleHost.Proxy to AST
* - First pseudo-safe commit
- Removed some old code
* - More vfpu to AST
* - More work on opengl|es implementation
- Support for prefixes on assembler
- Changed some vfpu opcodes to the AST: vadd, vsub, vdiv, vmul
- Implemented vfpu prefixes on AST
* - Updated libraries
* - Fixed an HUGE bug that resets the whole memory while running (that's because the FastPspMemory.Dispose resets the memory and if you have two instances with the same base address (because it is common to all instances), it zeroes the whole memory causing a crash + black screen)
- Added angle gles for x64
- Changed the system to load libraries from x86/x64 folder
- Enabled LWL/LWR optimizer again
- Enabled ALLOW_FAST_MEMORY on CpuEmitter so read and write operations can just use pointers
- Fixed INS instruction
- Small fixes and changes
- Fixed vuc2i
- Added a page guard between memory
- Changed Tests to work with the host0: way
* - Removed Implementation projects. Now all the code is included directly on the Audio/Gpu project
* - Started vfpu assembler
- Added some vfpu utilities
* - Some VFpu fixes
* - Small refactorings and cleanups
* - Removed "CpuEmitter.AnalyzePCEvent" this won't be used with the new system when completed.
- Converted CpuEmiiter.Branches to the new ast system (still lacks the delayed branch part)

While I generally don’t talk about homebrew apps here, this one got my attention.
The PlayStop Network allows you to download VHBL and CEF homebrews, ready to be transferred to your Vita with not much hassle. Similar to PSN, only on your PC.
But downloading homebrews is not the main feature, as you can also chat with people using this app, there is also a nice ban feature for the admins, so be sure to file a report if anyone bothers you.
This is nothing new, we have seen other apps doing the same, including my own work (VHBL Manager), but the chat ability is a really nice addition none of the other apps have done.
The app has been renamed from PSV Downloader Optimised to PlayStop Network, and has been updated to 1.01, if you want to try it out, you can download it here.

Jpcsp SVN r2875 is compiled. JPCSP is the most advanced PlayStation Portable(PSP) emulator, allowing you to play your PSP games on a PC. Even though Jpcsp is written in Java, it can already reach 100% PSP speed on a lot of commercial games... and the emulator performance is constantly increasing. Jpcsp takes full advantage of dual-core processors, matching the PSP dual-core architecture. Even a quad-core can give a small performance improvement by leaving free CPU cores for the Java JIT Compiler and the graphics cache.
Jpcsp SVN changelog:
r2875
Small fixes to avoid OpenGL errors (detected by the new CheckErrorsProxy).
---------------------
r2874
Implemented sceUtilitySavedata with mode MODE_ERASESECURE. Small fix in PSF reading to avoid NullPointerException.
---------------------
r2873
Added possibility to check for OpenGL errors after each OpenGL/lwjgl call. This has to be enabled by changing RenderingEngineFactory.enableCheckErrorsProxy = true;
---------------------
r2872
Improved support for Chinese gb3s1518.bwfon font: corrected values returned by sceFontGetCharInfo.

PPSSPP is written in C++, and translates PSP CPU instructions directly into optimized x86, x64 and (soon) ARM machine code, using an efficient JIT compiler.
PPSSPP can thus run on quite low-spec hardware, including stronger Android phones and tablets, as long as there's support for OpenGL ES 2.0.
Many fixes, more games playable
Progress has been rapid, much thanks to several new contributors! As usual, see the downloads page for the new version, and look at the compatibility list.

The guys over at Lavalit have released a new version of the beats of rage clone for the Dreamcast, Dingoo, PSP, Linux, Windows, GP2x, Nintendo Wii and Wiz.
OpenBOR is a continuation of the Beats Of Rage 2D game engine, which was originally
created by the wonderful folks over at http://www.senileteam.com.
In 2004, Senile Team released Beats of Rage, a free beat-'em-up for DOS inspired
by SEGA's Streets of Rage series and using sprites from SNK Playmore's King of
Fighters series. The game spread only by word of mouth, but it nonetheless
amassed popularity very quickly. Senile Team soon released an edit pack allowing
anyone interested to create a mod for the BOR engine.
In 2005, Kirby2000 asked Senile Team to open the source code to BOR. They
agreed, and OpenBOR was born. Development on the engine was continued by the
community, and still is to this day.
Heres whats new:
r3732 | utunnels | 2012-11-24 18:21:42 -0500 (Sat, 24 Nov 2012) | 1 line
Changed paths:
M /engine/openborscript.c
Add quake to level property.

November 26th, 2012, 13:47 Posted By: wraggster
The Playstation Mobile Dev toolkit Beta has closed quite a long time ago, by this time I expected that there would have been loads of new Indie games and apps but today when I switched over to my US account after updating to 2.00, I saw that not many apps are available. I feel that Sony has made a BIG mistake by making PSM a paid service and for forcing approval to publish.
I saw more apps coming out when the toolkit was in Open Beta. With the Open Beta, all people had equal access to the toolkit and could do whatever they wanted, but with the closed version, very few people have the time and money to sign up and develop apps for PSN for which they can be sure that the app will be approved
The PSM was the perfect idea, the ability to access a lot of the abilities available on the Vita yet ensure that there were no piracy but, then Sony made the careless mistake of forcing India devs to pay $100 for the toolkit!
Sony should have kept it like J2ME for smartphones, download it anywhere and just install but they decided to keep the system in their control, to make sure that they earned as much money as possible. During the open beta, we saw some very creative apps ,
a Remote Desktop application, an all region Playstation store ‘hack’, the cool games even the demos like the flight simulator, just imagine how much more the Vita would sell if PSM was open, developers would want to buy a Vita so that they could make software for it, we would get our homebrew, Sony would get their sales.
So, I feel that Sony has wasted a perfectly good idea by making PSM a paid service. What do you think? Post your opinion here
