As its title suggests, PS4 Homebrew Store is a homebrew utility for hacked PlayStation 4 consoles that lets you download/install homebrew directly from the console itself similar to Vita Homebrew Browser. The person behind PS4HS is LightningMods and he received some help from SocraticBliss, TheoryWrong, Znullptr and Flatz while developing it while many others helped with testing. Thanks to his numerous hours of work, PS4HS is pretty feature-packed and it includes:
- The ability to download apps and install them directly on your PS4
- It also shows the firmware that a homebrew application is playable on along with release date/a description/author info/APPID
- You’re shown a progress bar while applications download
- An auto-updater so you needn’t reinstall the PS4HS application again
- Optimisations for slow networks, a hard drive cache and the ability to save PS4HS settings
- Other features such as the ability to uninstall apps, see your local IP address and custom backgrounds and more
What Homebrew is available? How do I install it?
Installing PS4 Homebrew Store is pretty easy if you have a hacked PS4 as all you need to do is:Currently, PS4HS hosts around 50 homebrew applications (split in 7 pages) ranging from utilities, to emulators and homebrew games. Among these, there are NoPSN applications for services such as Netflix, Crunchyroll and Twitch; emulators like PS4NES and PS4-GBEmu; homebrew games like Flappy Bird and much more so you’ll be able to install most of the publicly available PS4 homebrew with it.

Today, Sony launched the ability for users to change their PSN names, a feature previously announced last October.
As was originally presented, the service allows PS4 users to change their handle either through their PS4 or web browser by signing into PSN on the official website. This can be done once for free; following that, it costs $10 per change or $5 for PlayStation Plus subscribers.
Additionally, an option is available to display the former name next to the new name so friends can recognize one another for 30 days following the change, but the option must be chosen upon the name change and cannot be toggled on or off afterward. There is also an option to revert back to a former ID for free at any time.
However, a new issue has presented itself since the service was announced. Originally, Sony noted that the name change feature would not necessarily be supported by games published prior to April 1, 2018. At the time, Sony said users may encounter issues with games older than this date if they changed their ID, but that reverting back to their original name would solve "most" issues.
Now, Sony says even games published after April 1 of last year may still have issues.

Sony has changed its refund policy to allow people who purchase pre-orders on digital titles to have them refunded at any time prior to the release date.
In the same change, Sony also now allows refunds of games past the purchase date (or release date in the case of pre-orders) for up to 14 days after payment was taken, provided the game has not begun downloading or streaming yet.

It is no secret that the PSVita didn’t do very well, especially in the West, and one of the reasons was the lack of AAA titles (and another was stupidly expensive flash memory). One AAA title that many in the community wanted from day one was a Grand Theft Auto port but unfortunately, we never got it… until now as a mostly finished beta build of GTA IV for the Vita has been leaked online!
- Originally, the game was slated for release on February 15, 2012, possibly as a pack-in game, to coincide with the PSVita’s release in North America in order to give the console a pretty good start
- Unfortunately, the date was pushed back by a few months as Sony took a little too long to deliver functional dev kits to Rockstar Games
- The game was meant to be a direct port of the PS3 title and this was achieved quite well through heavy optimisation techniques
- The reason why the game never saw the light of day was simply because it was too large for the PSVita game cartridges that Sony offered at the time, coming in at around 14GB when the maximum storage capacity of PSVita game cartridges is just 4GB even though Sony promised Rockstar that 16GB cartridges would be made available.
- The leaker claims that Rockstar tried their best to convince Sony to make 16GB game cartridges for their game believing it would make the system insanely popular but Sony refused to budge as its management was more concerned on the upcoming PS4
- Apparently, Sony didn’t even allow Rockstar to host the remaining 10GB on PSN for digital download due to “excessive infrastructure costs”
- As previously mentioned, the beta build of GTA IV for the PSVita is mostly finished and apart from some bugs, everything works. From the video (below) that accompanies the leak’s Reddit thread, the following could be derived:
- The game looks extremely similar to the PS3/X360/PC version of the game but some textures seem to be of reduced quality (compared to the PS3 version) presumably for better performance
- When it comes to framerate, the game seems to hover in the 20-30 FPS range which is pretty good considering that the PS3/X360 ports also have some frame drops
- Loading times are somewhat long so you’ll need to be a tad patient
- This is because Rockstar had been trying to compress certain portions of the game to reduce its size to fit in an 8GB cartridge but they ultimately failed.
- All the weapons, cars, missions and even cheats are present
- There is audio but there are occasional stutters in it. However, these won’t affect the gaming experience greatly
The leaker notes that there are some odd bugs such as NPCs that are too tall, cars sometimes ramming into each other for no reason and people with faces of Flying Rats (pigeons in GTA slang).
Conclusion
As it’s not legal to distribute beta builds of commercial games, Wololo will not provide a download link to the GTA IV beta build but it could be easily found by looking around Reddit. Obviously, the game only works a hacked PSVita / PSTV consoles (FW 3.60-3.68) and requires you to have NoNpDrm installed.
To see a video of it in action, . On the other hand, if you’re not a fan of the HD GTA games, you can always check out TheFlow’s native resolution patch for GTA VCS/LCS (PSP).

April 1st, 2019, 17:48 Posted By: wraggster
Following rumors of an impending PS Vita EOL hack, TheFloW has just released a PSA as well as some important information on his next and last jailbreak targeting OFW 3.69 and 3.70 of Sony's latest handheld console. The document, published on GitHub Gist, describes the exploit chain as drastically different from the previous ones: instead of relying on a WebKit or save data exploit, it will attempt to escape the PSP emulator and take control of the rest of the system from there. While novel, the downside of this approach is that it requires users to have a PSN account activated and linked to download a PSP game from the store - as such, Sony may be able to patch it in the future and lock out anyone who hasn't taken advantage of it yet.
As a result, the developer is giving an abundant amount of time (6-8 weeks) to let interested users be prepared for the eventual release. His instructions on how to set up your console for the hack are as follows:
- If you're on firmware 3.69, you have two options:
- Either update to firmware 3.70 (go to Settings → System Update).
- Or set DNS to 212.47.229.76 (go to Settings → Network → Wi-Fi Settings → Your access point → Advanced Settings and set DNS Settings to Manual and Primary DNS to 212.47.229.76).
- Register a PSN account if you don't have one yet (note that only 3 devices can be activated using the same account).
- Download and install any PSP/minis game (PS one Classics do not work). There are demos in most regions (if you know a title that is not listed here, please let me know):
- EU/UK: Ape Quest
- NA/SG: LocoRoco Midnight Carnival
- JP: YS seven
Unfortunately, if you can't find a demo in your region, you must either buy any PSP/minis game, or register a new PSN account in one of the regions listed above.
- Verify that you can launch the PSP/minis game.
- Download and install qcma to make a backup of your game (launch Content Manager on your PS Vita and follow the instructions on screen).
If you have completed the preparation, you can now sit back and come back in 6-8 weeks for further instructions. It is important that you do not unlink/deactivate your PSN account or restore your settings in this time.
Click to expand... Aside from the aforementioned timeframe, there is no definite ETA for a release yet.

Sony Interactive Entertainment is shutting down the online servers for Driveclub, five years after the PlayStation 4 racing title first launched.
The shutdown will make all online features in Driveclub, Driveclub VR and Driveclub Bikes defunct. It will take place on March 31, 2020, just before midnight British Summer Time.
In a statement, Sony said that all Driveclub games will be playable in single-player offline mode, while acknowledging that they, "have significant amounts of online gameplay."
Features that will no longer work include using season passes online, engaging with any online multiplayer modes or challenges, creating bespoke events, competing in leaderboards, or sharing stats and progress.

rsn8887 has released yet another significant update to ScummVM for the Switch which brings about support for USB mice and keyboards.
This which will translate to a more faithful gaming experience and more accurate input as games that can be run in ScummVM are all ‘point and click’ adventure games like Leisure Suit Larry. Rsn8887 notes that not all mice may work and some keyboard/mouse combos don’t work either due to limitations in the Switch’s USB driver so if the mouse you try using doesn’t work, just try another one!
To grab this build of ScummVM (and an updated PSP build), simply follow this link and download the NRO provided.

While the DosBox emulator is one of the most popular emulators around, the Switch and PSVita ports of it didn’t see as much love as other emulators.
Due to this, dynarec wasn’t working on both these ports but now, m4wx decided to change things a bit and has been to get DosBox’s aarch64 (ARM 64) dynamic recompiler (dynarec) working on the Switch. This means that many more MS-DOS games, such as WarCraft 2 (below) and Settlers 2, run great and performance in Windows 95/98/ME is probably much better which means that some older Windows games may be playable on the Switch!
Switching focus to the PSVita, its DosBox port is also seeing some love as frangar pushed some commits to GitHub relating to dynarec support. As of right now, no official word has been given on the state of DosBox’s dynarec on the Vita but MS-DOS/Windows 9x emulation on the device might get a significant improvement soon!
The Switch builds of DosBox with dynarec aren’t publicly available as of right now and are only available in beta form for Patreon supports of m4wx or rsn8887. That being said, they’ll probably be made available to everybody in the coming days/weeks as both developers are big contributors to the homebrew community.

Rinnegatamante has released a new version of his PS Vita port of Quake III. The popular port has made great progress since its initial release almost a year ago, and it’s great to get regular updates!
This release brings significant performance improvements. The Developer recommends in particular to play the game at a 480×272 resolution, which massively enhances the framerate while negative impact from the lower resolution is minimal.
Other changes from this release (from the changelog):
- Updated to latest ioquake3 source.
- Updated to latest vitaGL source.
- Added MSAA 4x support (always active).
- Improved performances and resource consumption of the renderer.
- Added OpenArena support (NOTE: Read the updated first post), it will be fully playable since it’s a free alternative to Quake III.
Download VitaQuake III
You can download VitaQuake III from VitaDB here. You will (of course) need a hacked PS Vita in order to run this port.

For quite a while, z2442 and TheMrIron2 along with a few others have been working on improving DaedalusX64, the only working Nintendo 64 emulator for the PSP and PSVita. As the Nintendo 64 is somewhat difficult to emulate and demands pretty high system requirements, it is quite surprising that the PSP manages to get playable framerates in some games but this is owed to the fact that the N64 and PSP use the same CPU architecture. Obviously, not all games exhibit good performance and many are quite slow but with recent improvements, more titles have become playable and many bugs have been fixed!
To show off some progress on the upcoming DaedalusX64 1.1.7, a video was published (below) which shows playable performance in the following games:
- Super Mario 64
- This game works pretty well in the last official release of DaedalusX64 too
- Zelda Ocarina of Time
- Performance hovers around the 70-80% with a few stutters but the game is still quite playable
- StarFox64
- Zelda Majora’s Mask (there are some nasty stutters so it’s not exactly playable for now)
- Mario Kart 64
- Official releases of DaedalusX64 emulate it with okay performance but any speed improvements are always welcome!
To learn a bit more about the upcoming DaedalusX64 release which should be coming this Friday and some optimal game settings, check out its Reddit thread.
Conclusion
While the stuff in this article isn’t yet released, you can still mess around with GTA on your PSVita with TheFlow’s native resolution hack (below). A link with information about the current version of the improved DaedalusX64 can also be found below if you want to try your favourite N64 games on the PSP/Vita right now!

Contrary to what non-GTA fans might think, not all GTA games are 3D in nature and Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars is one of them. Originally released for the Nintendo DS, the game has a 2D overhead perspective which was ideal considering the system’s technical limitations but then, it was also released on the PSP/iOS/Android which are all platforms that provide much more power. However, the game still retained the 2D perspective but with some tinkering, GTA fans managed to get the 3D chase perspective to be used whenever you got in a vehicle on the PSP port!
Unfortunately, this (namely PPSSPP) so getting the 3D perspective on the PSP/Vita was a no-go until recently. Now, RealYoti is working on a version of this hack that actually works on the PSP/PSVita thus allowing these consoles to roam around the GTA:CT map in 3D albeit with a few graphical issues. To demonstrate his work, RealYoti published a video (below) which can be seen below but he hasn’t set an ETA yet and the mod crashes the game when you drive a car into the water!

The former CEO of Sony, Kaz Hirai, will also be stepping down as the company's board chairman and departing the company.
Hirai first announced he would hand off the role of CEO in February of last year, but at the time said he would remain on as director and board chaiman when the new company structure took effect the following April. He has continued to hold those roles since, while the role of CEO passed to Kenichiro Yoshida.
Today, in a news release, Sony announced Hirai would also retire from the role of board chairman, to be replaced by director Shuzo Sumi.

If your PS3’s minimum firmware is above 3.56, CFW is a no-go and you have to be content with HAN. However, some developers on the PS3 scene (Pink1, DeViL303, Imn7) decided to give some more features to HAN-only PS3 models and released HAN Toolbox! Among other things, HAN Toolbox gives you file management capabilities and downloaders for demos, themes, wallpapers and NoPSN apps.
Now, this utility has been updated to version 0.7 with the following features:
- Various compatibility updates relating to FW 4.84
- Offline Rebooter, HAN Enabler, Debug PKG Enabler have been updated with 4.84 support
- An offline File Copier for 4.84 has been added
- An offline Temperature Reader & Database Rebuilder with support for FW 4.82/4.84 has been added
- PS3Xploit Basic and Extra tools have been updated
- Coldboot, Font and Wave downloaders have been added

When Sony releases a new PS3 firmware, one of the first homebrew utilities to get updated is SEN Enabler because playing online requires you to be on the latest firmware. As FW 4.84 was released in February, SEN Enabler has been able to spoof FW 4.84 for a while but it now got support for FW 4.84 with version 6.2.2. The changelog for SEN Enabler 6.2.2 mentions the following:
- Cobra 4.84 DEX is now supported
- Spoof and hash fix support for 4.84 Cobra CFWs (CEX/DEX) has been added
- Cobra was updated to version 8.0.1

Sony has just started pushing PS4 firmware 6.51 to PS4 consoles worldwide.
PS4 6.51 and hacks
As always with such a minor release, not much is known about the update. It is not clear whether this actually patches an undisclosed exploit, or if it just brings some urgent patch for a specific game. Furthermore, at the time of publishing, Sony haven’t updated their official firmware page and 6.50 is still mentioned as the latest update.
We advise for people who want to hack their console to stay on as own a firmware as they possibly can, until we hear more details from hackers. The highest hackable firmware (publicly) is 5.07. (Check more details on our PS4 Jailbreak page)
PS4 6.50
The previous update, PS4 firmware 6.50, was released 3 weeks ago and added remote play support for iOS as well as the possibility to swap the O/X buttons.
Should I update my PS4 to 6.5x?
Again, for people willing to hack their console should stay on a low firmware if possible. Hackers have hinted at hacks available on firmware 6.xx, and there even was a webkit exploit released for 6.20, but no “full” Jailbreak has been announced for recent firmwares by any credible source.
For people not looking to hack their PS4, it is likely you will have to update to 6.51 in order to retain online service access for your console (PSN, etc…)
