For those who have a PlayStation 3 that can’t do CFW (min FW of 3.60 or above), they needn’t fear not being able to hack their console thanks to PS3HEN. This hacking solution gives numerous CFW-like features such as allowing one to run homebrew and use backup managers meaning that it allows one to get the most out of their noCFW console.
Less than 24 hours ago, PS3HEN 3.0.1 was released which comes with the following:
- Support for HFW 4.86(.1)
- This is Hybrid Firmware with an exploitable browser that can be installed over OFW 4.86
- Some COBRA PS3MAPI changes with 3 added functions including:
- ps3mapi_process_page_allocate
- ps3mapi_get_process_module_info
- ps3mapi_create_process_thread
- It’s now possible to write to some previously protected memory regions
You may read more about PS3HEN and find installation instructions by heading to its page on PSX-Place which is actively maintained by @esc0rtd3w who’s a major force behind the hacking solution.

If you always want to be on the latest (and not particularly greatest) firmware version on your PlayStation 3, then Team REBUG has you covered as they’ve just released Rebug 4.86.1 LITE which is based on OFW 4.86. Team REBUG offers some of the most popular CFWs for CFW-capable PlayStation 3 consoles (i.e. minFW of 3.56 or below) which come with a good deal of features including the ability to toggle the QA flag, boot into OtherOS, the Rebug Toolbox, a Package Manager and more.
As per its change log, which is in the link below, Rebug 4.86.1 LITE comes with:
- An OFW 4.86 base
- Rebug Toolbox 2.03.04 which comes with support for 16 languages
- Improved Stability which undoubtedly stems from the rock-solid OFW 4.86

Hi everyone, today we will be discussing Sharpscale, a plugin that outputs the native size 960×544 made by fellow CBPS member cuevavirus.
Not only that, this release is officially the first completed bounty on VitaDB. Congratulations! Back on topic, while there was a capture kit for the Vita available from Japan for the hefty price of 450$ US, but since laws changed, this gadget isn’t available anymore. Here’s a list of the things that it can do:
1. Native 960×544 output in 720p.
2. Integer scaled 1920×1088 in 1080i with 8 lines trimmed.
3. Integer scaling, therefore possible up to 1440p and 4K.
Download links can be found at the original forum post of the release: https://forum.devchroma.nl/index.php/topic,112.0.html
And here is a discord link to CBPS for instant support regarding this plugin and any question that you may have: http://discord.cbps.xyz/

Get your downloads queued as soon as you can, cuz you may be in for a wait, considering throttled speeds. PlayStation Plus subscribers will be getting their monthly games next week, featuring Dirt Rally 2.0 and Uncharted 4. The latter comes after Plus users got to play Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection back in January, so now you'll be able to complete Naughty Dog's series without buying the games separately, if you haven't already. Meanwhile, Dirt Rally 2.0, is, as the name suggests, a racing game, created by developer Codemasters. You can pick both games up when they become available on April 7th, and if you haven't already grabbed Shadow of the Colossus and Sonic Forces--last month's set of games--do so while you still can.

Sony Corporation has established a global relief fund, pouring $100 million into supporting those affected by the spread of coronavirus.
An initial $10 million will be devoted to the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund by the WHO, United Nations Foundation and Swiss Philanthropy, as well as Doctors Without Borders, UNICEF and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
These represent the first of three pillars Sony will be concentrating on in distributing this fund -- namely frontline medical workers and organisations helping with response efforts to the virus.
The other two pillars will be educators that must now work remotely and the children they support, as well as members of the creative community in the entertainment industry.
Sony has several interests impacted in the latter, including delayed film releases, although the company does not expect the pandemic to affect the planned launch of PlayStation 5 later this year.
Sony is now exploring ways to use its technologies to support educational activities and work with remote educators on implementing this.

Project Eris is the spiritual successor to BleemSync
Project Eris is a fully fledged modification tool for the PlayStation Classic Mini. It allows users to add games, mods and ports whilst also including a large array of extra features and quality of life improvements.
Please note: The desktop app for Project Eris will be made public at version 1.0.0. The inclusion of the desktop app will make replacing internal games on the PlayStation Classic much easier, however the optional facility to backup/replace/restore internal games IS available as of version 0.9.0 but requires an extra manual step. How to video will be out shortly in the interim.
Project Eris feature list
- Create your custom PlayStation Classic experience by adding your own games, emulators, themes, ports and mods.
- Better FileSystem support (Ext4, exFAT, NTFS, FAT32)
- OTG (On-The-Go adapter) support (no more USB compatibility issues)
- Network support (supports a limited number of Wi-Fi and Ethernet adapters)
- Folder support
- Drag and Drop game transfer now supported. (Drag games onto USB and it will load them up)
- Multi OS support (Windows, Mac, Linux) (basically anything that has a RDNIS driver. Which is a lot.)
- Reliable and steady emulation performance.
- RetroArch support and integration.
- Multitude of various controller support with RetroArch.
- Big community available to offer support to fellow users.
- And many more awesome features!
Project Eris 0.9.0 Requirements
- A low powered USB drive to install initial payload. After that any USB is supported via OTG. (USB2 is a safe bet)

Due to their popularity, 8-bit home computers are still remembered fondly by many with the Commodore 64 being one of the most popular computers of the lot especially in America.
With VICEVita, you can play your favourite C64 titles like Boulder Dash and even those that require constant keyboard input like text adventures!
Now, the PlayStation Vita has just received an improvement in the C64 emulation department as Amnon-Dan Meir (ammeir71), who’s also behind ZXVita, has released VICEVita, a standalone Commodore 64 emulator for the console that doesn’t rely on RetroArch.
Among the features that the emulator offers, we find:
- A pretty nice user interface that makes good use of the Vita’s buttons while also providing constant hints
- A touch keyboard for inputting text into your games
- Savestates allowing you pick up your game from wherever you want
- Support for control mapping

Starting off with a kernel plugin for the PlayStation Vita, cuevavirus/Marburg of Team CBPS has released yet another plugin for the console and this time around, it’s called PSOneScrot. As its name suggests, this plugin allows you take screenshots of PlayStation 1 games properly as pressing the PS Button+Start results in the taking of messed up screenshots.
To take a screenshot of a PS1 game with this plugin installed, all you have to do is open the Official Settings Menu by holding the PS Button and select ‘Screenshot’ which takes a screenshot of what’s on-screen for you. The plugin also comes with support for Adrenaline although to use it, you have to first open Adrenaline’s Quick Menu then navigate to the Official Settings Menu from there.

From a hacking point of view, Firmware 4.86 doesn’t seem to affect much since the kernel wasn’t changed at all.
Joonie has confirmed that FW 4.86 doesn’t come with any kernel changes and released HFW 4.86.1 (Link)
This, in turn, prompted Joonie to state that an update to PS3HEN should be expected soon so that you could hack your noCFW (min FW of 3.60+) PlayStation 3 console. Furthermore, Joonie has released HFW 4.86.1 which is exactly the same as OFW 4.86 but with a modification to the web browser making it vulnerable to exploits employed to hack your console. This means that all PlayStation 3 consoles are still hackable as the current firmware is still vulnerable to current exploits!
However, if you can get by with spoofing your firmware version and staying on an older firmware, you should probably do so for now as some homebrew utilities may not function correctly as offsets might need to be updated. Updates to popular homebrew utilities and CFWs may not take long similar to what happened when Firmware 4.85 was released last August.

Ever since the dawn of the PlayStation Vita homebrew scene, a popular question has been whether the PlayStation Vita can emulate the PlayStation 2 due to its wealth of memorable titles and the answer has always been a flat no as the PSVita doesn’t have nearly enough power to emulate this beloved 6th generation console with playable performance. However, Xerpi has gone ahead to do the unthinkable and managed to port a PlayStation 2 emulator called ‘Play!‘ to the console while also publishing a video of the emulator in action.
For those who are unaware of Xerpi’s feats, he’s the developer behind udcd_uvc, a kernel plugin that allows you to stream your PSVita’s screen to a PC in real-time thus giving it Switch-like abilities as you can play games in both handheld and TV mode. Furthermore, he’s also been working on porting Linux to the console on-and-off so perhaps one day, we’ll see some lightweight distribution running on the console although things are still in early stages.
Before getting your hopes up high, it’s important to state that Xerpi’s Play! port is a proof of concept meaning that it was created to prove the emulator could run on the console. In a demonstration video posted on YouTube (below), the emulator is shown running the Teapot demo from PS2SDK not a commercial game and since it’s a proof of concept, we can conclude that if any games manage to run at all, they will probably be a slow slideshow at best.
It’s important to state the Play! emulator which is much more capable than the PSVita so even if Xerpi does indeed work his magic, commercial PlayStation 2 games will never be playable on the Vita although you could probably mess around with simpler PS2 homebrew if that’s your thing.
As of right now, there’s no VPK for a compiled build of Play! for the PSVita but you can run it on your console by compiling it as per instructions on GitLab. For those still thinking this is an April Fool’s joke, Xerpi personally confirmed its veracity but he made it clear that it’s just a proof of concept more than anything else!

Russian PS4 owners will not be able to download Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered.
GameSpot reports that Sony declined to sell the game, which is currently a digital-only release, through the PlayStation Store in the region.
Neither Activision nor Sony appear to have specified the reason, but it's a safe bet it's due to the inclusion of Modern Warfare 2's infamous 'No Russian' mission, which puts players at the centre of a mass shooting at a Moscow airport.
The level caused controversy when the game was first released in 2009, resulting in Modern Warfare 2 being pulled from shelves.
Activision later removed this section from the Russian release, but it has been reinstated for the remaster.
