Another great release for the PSVIta, heres the release info:
PC Link is a homebrew for the PS Vita that streams and control content from your PC to the VITA. Your VITA is being essentially treated like another monitor in this case. Keep in mind, the program is still in beta stages, so some things may not work.
I am moving PC Link into Open Beta for everyone to play with over the holiday break.
There is still a lot to do, including fixing Audio support but enough has been completed to have a little fun with.
Now that I’ve finished with work for the year (great sigh of relief), i will be focusing on PC Link a lot more over the holidays, as well as a new project, which I’ll talk about in more in a separate post.

Heres a new release for the PSVita:
VitaShell is the most popular file manager for the PSVita that’s installed on almost all taiHEN/HENkaku-enabled PSVita/PSTV systems in one way or another. It was originally released for Rejuvinate back in 2015 when it won the Revitalize contest on Wololo.
VitaShell 1.77 Beta brings about the following:
- Support for more archive types such as 7z, tar, tar.gz, tar.bz2 and much more.
- Probably some bug fixes because every release has those! There’s no real change log except a Twitter post as of now.

We posted that it would be released and now it has, heres a great xmas pressie for PS4 homebrew fans:
Specter has released a browser exploit for PS4 consoles with firmware 4.05. Quote: 'In this project you will find a full implementation of the 'namedobj' kernel exploit for the PlayStation 4 on 4.05. It will allow you to run arbitrary code as kernel, to allow jailbreaking and kernel-level modifications to the system. This release however, does not contain any code related to defeating anti-piracy mechanisms or running homebrew. This exploit does include a loader that listens for payloads on port 9020 and will execute them upon receival. You can find fail0verflow's original write-up on the bug here, you can find my technical write-up which dives more into implementation specifics here (this is still in progress and will be published within the next few days).

Those of you with PS4s couldn have some great Xmas news coming this week, heres the full info:
Developer SpecterDev has been hard at work to implement the recently disclosed PS4 Kernel Exploit for firmware 4.05. Screenshots surfaced on Reddit’s PS4Homebrew discord channel, mentioning that SpecterDev could be releasing his work as early as today or tomorrow (Update: SpecterDev has confirmed to me in a separate conversation that this is indeed the current status). Two months ago, Team Fail0verflow disclosed technical details of a kernel exploit for the PS4, running up to firmware 4.05. At the time, I believed it would be a matter of days for a full implementation to be released to the scene. It turns out some difficult components of the implementation have been left blank by the Fail0verflow writeup, and the few hackers who have tried to implement a full Jailbreak have ran into issues.

Heres some PS4 hacking news from Eurasia:
Red-EyeX32 has released a windows tool which allows decryption of encrypted entries within a PS4 package file container. He also encrypted the keys required to make the tool useful with RSA encryption which turned out to be a fun little Christmas trivia. Thanks goes to GaryOPA for the heads up, his story is here. Quote Red-EyeX32:
* This tool will allow you to decrypt encrypted entries within a package file container. The keys to decrypt these entry files are encrypted with RSA. I've provided the necessary keys but you will need to calculate the rest to make the tool useful.
* Remove the last 16 bytes from the included keys within the source to get the actual 'key' of E, P, & Q.
To calculate public key: n = q * p
To calculate private key: d = e^-1 mod ((p - 1) * (q - 1))
* Private key SHA-256: a9ac2702937c953ce42a85fae1d3914443a4859fed76140126 d8d52ab2778caf
* Public key SHA-256: c80fecd0f96b5f06135505d9056794117697c3b2848c89fdf3 70e087ea3e6237
Getting the public key was easy enough, but the private key took a bit of head scratching and Python magic. Read on if you want the keys (it will spoil the challenge)..."

The program used to stream Playstation Vita Games to your PC has been updated, heres the release info:
Vita2PC got a decent amount of new features/compatibility updates with version 0.2:
- The following games have received patches to be compatible with Vita2PC: Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Muramasa Rebirth, Ratchet and Clank 2 and Ratchet and Clank 3. The EUR (Europe) versions were tested but NA/JP version should work just fine.
- LPDDR2 hardware encoder support was added so now lots more games will support hardware accelerated encoding! (Hopefully, with some extra patches in future releases a huge portion of the Vita’s game library will be supported)
- The PC side got support for window resolution switching (original and Vita resolution) and bilinear filtering.
- A great new icon got added in the PC clientThe interface you get for starting Vita2PC in-game. Press SELECT + L (shoulder button) to make it pop up. For some reason, I can’t disable hardware acceleration but all other settings work.. Diva F doesn’t work with hardware acceleration enabled yet
- A bug in the SDL Mixer audio driver was fixed
- A new audio driver based on OpenAL got added on the PC side. This driver is more unstable than the SDL Mixer driver but it works better with some games such as DigimonStory: Cyber-Sleuth.
As you can see, this is a major update that you should try out even if it’s just for the cool factor! It is important to note that I had to separately download ‘libstdc++’ and ‘libgcc_s_dw2-1’ DLLs for the PC client to work on Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit

Seems a new official update for the PS4 has been released but maybe its just security fixes to keep out hackers, heres some info:
There is no official changelog yet as to what firmware 5.03 does. At the time of writing, the official Sony page still mentions 5.01 as the latest firmware.
Team Fail0verflow recently disclosed the details of a Kernel Exploit for firmware 4.05. There’s enough details in there for us to believe a Jailbreak on firmware 4.05 is just a matter of time.
However hacker SpecterDev, publicly the dev who has made the most progress on an actual implementation of the 4.05 exploit, has been hitting a few setbacks. Allegedly, he recently mentioned on Discord that he has the jailbreak working, but that launching any game after the exploit crashes the console (while running Linux is apparently ok). Last time I informally talked with him about the 4.05 exploit, he was still working on it.

Some news for the Vita Hacking scene that is exciting folks is the ReNpDrm by CelesteBlue, heres some more details:
ReNpDrm is a kernel plugin for HENkaku/taiHEN-enabled PSVita/PSTV consoles by CelesteBlue (ePSP Bubble Installer and co-developer of Firmware Reinstaller). ReNpDrm constantly refreshes the system’s activation files so that it achieves its purpose of granting unrestricted access to PSN.This plugin will bring along the following:
- Activation for unactivated consoles (or consoles that Sony rudely deactivated..) so that you can play your legally purchased digital games again!
- Full access to PSN will be restored without the possibility of losing your activation files.
- You will be able to purchase and download games from PSN again so you needn’t pirate games if you want to run them off your memory card! This is particularly great if you wish to benefit from the somewhat regular PSN sales!
- Applications such as LiveTweet can also be downloaded so you can get access to the slim suite of smartphone-esque applications again!
Unrestricted PSN access will soon be a thing again!
This plugin doesn’t bring this stuff along:
- You won’t be able to run games that require FW 3.61 or above but you can download them.
- It won’t let you download games you don’t own (just in case you thought you could steal off PSN..)
