Marvelous’ upcoming PSP game Yuusha 30 has four heroes and mini games from four genres. The hero grinds through role playing style combat, the knight slashes his way through an action game, the princess blasts through a shooting game, and the demon king commands monsters in a real time strategy game. And that’s about all this teaser trailer tells us about the pixilated quad.
More information should be coming since Yuusha 30 is slated to come out in Japan this spring. Famitsu gives a more specific target of May 2009.

Someday digital downloads could replace UMDs. Not quite yet, though! Most PSP owners still get their games on physical media which means load times.
A few publishers are tackling the problem with the help of larger Memory Sticks on the market. Their trick is a partial data install similar to what a handful PlayStation 3 games offer. Mana Khemia: Student Alliance, Dissidia: Final Fantasy, and if a menu screen is anything to go by Irem’s Zettai Zetsumei Toshi 3 (Disaster Report 3) will too.
Dissidia: Final Fantasy has a rather creative data install feature. You choose how much space you want to use: 243 MB, 371 MB, or 520 MB. More space means shorter load times in between battles.
Of course none of these games are out in the US yet, but two of them are guaranteed to come. Do you plan to take advantage of the data install feature in the future or is your Memory Stick space filled up with media?

In a time when we're hearing bad news coming from basically every company out there, Sony's 4th quarter numbers are a notch below the rest: a 95% drop in profits.
Yes, they pulled in 10.4 billion yen during the 4th quarter compared to 200.2 billion yen the previous year. These dismal figures reflect a downright-disastrous holiday season for Sony, with TVs and PS3s not exactly flying off the shelves. It's your fault, really. I mean, if you'd been spending money on Sony products, none of this would have happened. For shame! Think about someone other than yourself, why don't you?

Cel-shaded scurrying news now, with Ubisoft announcing a downloadable extension to its latest Prince of Persia game ... Prince of Persia. Set directly after the events of the main narrative, the "Epilogue" DLC expands the acrobatic protagonist's playground, as well as his magical companion's repertoire of powers. Epilogue's associate producer, Jamal Rguigui, tells IGN that players can expect the new Underground Palace area "to keep you on the edge of your seat." And even if you slide right off, we're sure Elika will be there to grab you.
While careful not to spoil the game's conclusion, Rguigui notes that Epilogue will further develop the relationship between the main characters and task them with defeating a new enemy, The Shapeshifter. "The Shapeshifter is an enemy that takes the form of two of Ahriman's most fearsome Lieutenants, the Warrior and the Hunter," he says. "Though their physical form is familiar to our heroes and the player, it will requires a particular strategy to defeat the Shapeshifter, rewarding the player that takes advantage of the new sprint feature exclusive to the Epilogue."
In addition to the royal rogue's sprinting offensive, the DLC gives Elika the "Energize" power, which allows her to temporarily restore a piece of destroyed environment. Tough-guy gamers will also be pleased to note that said environment will offer more challenging platforming sequences and additional traps to be almost-killed by. "We wanted to build a challenge and experience even greater with all the tools at our disposal, and let me say that there are a lot: Elika's power, traps, combat system, etc."
Look for all of those etc. on PSN and Xbox Live on February 26th. We'll update as soon Ubisoft settles on a price.

Psyonix Studios' Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars heads the PlayStation Store update this week.
The game costs GBP 7.99 and revolves around physics-controlled vehicles doing silly things like playing football or just jumping around and smashing things. There's a free trial mode to help make your mind up.
Joining the premium ranks are a Filmer Pack for Skate 2 that adds advanced camera controls for the replay editor, custom watermarks and more online storage. This costs GBP 4.79.
There's a God of War level kit for LittleBigPlanet priced GBP 2.39, plus Kratos, Toro and Ape Escape costumes for GBP 1.59 each. Sony has added a free Groundhog day costume as well.
Also free are a Hero Arena Bonus add-on for Lord of the Rings: Conquest, which lets hero characters face-off head-to-head or in pairs. Mirror's edge gets a free Time Trial map, too.
PSP owners can get their hands on the full versions of Buzz! Master Quiz for GBP 19.99, or Fight Night Round 3 for GBP 15.99.
Elsewhere, there's piles of Grateful Dead songs for Rock Band, which can be bought separately for GBP 0.99 or as a pack for GBP 4.99. These are "Cold Rain and Snow", "Doin' That Rag", "Don't Ease Me In", "Fire on the Mountain", "Hell in a Bucket" and "Uncle John's Band".
Guitar Hero World Tour, meanwhile, gets a free Bruce Springsteen pack containing "Born to Run" and "My Lucky Day".

via Joystiq
While Xbox Live Arcade enthusiasts have been enjoying some of these titles for a while now, PopCap has finally hopped on the PSN bandwagon to bring select titles to Sony's network through a partnership with Sony Online Entertainment. Bejeweled 2, Zuma, Heavy Weapon, Peggle, and Feeding Frenzy will all be coming to the PlayStation Network. But hey, even though PSN users are late to the party, at least getting some of those Trophies won't be incredibly impossible, especially in the case of Bejeweled 2.
Bejeweled 2 will be available today on the PlayStation Store for $9.99 (plus applicable taxes). The rest will follow "soon thereafter," so keep an eye on Joystiq to find out exactly when.

EA has delayed the release of the Pure Time Trial Map Pack for Mirror's Edge until next month, but the standalone PS3-exclusive download map "Synethesia" will be released as part of the PlayStation Network update later today.
Writing on the PlayStation Blog, producer Tom Farrer said the map was "inspired by balloons of all things", and its overriding theme was, "If Faith was having a dream, what would she be dreaming about?" Not falling off buildings because of the controls, probably.
We jest! We love Mirror's Edge, which is why it's disappointing that the multiformat Pure Time Trial Map Pack has been delayed, as its abstract environments, designed to highlight the game's best bits, are looking rather sharp.
"We have been making a variety of maps for the upcoming release of the Pure Time Trial Map Pack," Farrer wrote on the blog. "We didn't want to be limited by an urban setting; we wanted to leave the city behind and focus completely on the nature of movement itself. The maps are all about exploring the purity of the core gameplay with nothing getting in the way."
The Pure Time Trial Map Pack is due out for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC at some point next month for USD 10, or 800 Microsoft Points on Xbox Live (GBP 6.80 / EUR 9.60). Speaking to IGN, DICE said the delay was in order "to offer a completely smooth experience for players".
Meanwhile, those of you playing the PC version of Mirror's Edge might be interested in a little hack dug up on YouTube, which allows you to reinstate a mostly playable third-person camera perspective, rather than using the first-person default. There's more detail on how to do so over on Kotaku.

Klutsh & RainMotorsports grace us with convenience at its finest… Here we have another Windows app to easily create a magic memory stick for use with a Pandora battery.
As illustrated in the screen shot, PSP Grader not only creates a magic memory stick, it packs a few additional options: inject an IPL only, clean the Pandora stick ridding any files created by PSP Grader, and the ability to change the default trigger to load Pandora when you’re ready.
Features
Download the eboot straight from the app!
Load eboots stored in ZIP files.
Coming Soon:
RAR & 7z Loading - Rar loading didn’t make the port to pascal but only due to time restraints, it and 7zip loading are planned!
Backup Script - Once again due to time constraints a backup function didn’t make it. Grader never had one and mine never worked to begin with so I put this off till it could be done right!
SPEED - While this app is no slower than anything I have written before it is slower than Grader 6. We have already begun finding ways to speed up the app and it will be sped up soon!

News/release from Torch
The various Lockdown applications were getting out of hand so from this update I've consolidated them into a single Pack.
Lockdown updated to v4.0
Lockdown XMB Style updated to v4.0
Enhanced security. Plugins cannot be used to bypass the password.
If you enter Password Change Mode, you can press Select again to exit without entering a new password.
Lockdown In-Game unchanged at v2.0
Lockdown allows you to password protect your PSP from prying eyes.
You can also protect the Recovery Menu so that the protection can't be bypassed at all.
Lockdown XMB Style uses the XMB Wave as the background, and is only for the PSP Slim.
Big time thanks to Dark_Alex for his VLF library, without which Lockdown XMB Style would have been impossible. Also thanks for adding the Plugins Disable feature in 5.00M33-2
Lockdown In-Game will require you to enter a password when you resume your PSP from suspend mode. Useful to prevent other people from messing up your progress if you put the PSP in suspend during a game.
