Usually, we don’t post up news about pre-orders, but a plush Raiho is at stake here! In the Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner 2 - Kuzunoha vs. King Abaddon announcement Atlus emphasized the initial run of the game which will be bundled with the stuffed Raiho is going to be rare.
How rare? Not a clue, but if you really want a Raiho play it safe and pre-order. That’s my plan. Tipster Volcynika let us know (thanks!!) two retailers are taking pre-orders as of today: Amazon and Gamestop. Out of the two only Gamestop mentions the Raiho bonus, but since every copy of the first run gets a Raiho it should be safe to get Devil Summoner 2 from Amazon too. International readers can snag a copy from Play-Asia, they are carrying the Raiho/Devil Summoner 2 bundle too.

Now if only you could program your PVR with this, you’d be laughing, but instead, see what shows you’re missing while out ‘n about with R T’s PSP PPG — the Portable Program/TV Guide for your PlayStation Portable. It’s actually put together quite nicely, ch-ch-check it out…
PPG is a TV guide for the PSP that uses the XMLTV format to generate listings. The original program was developed as homebrew software and is a first class example of what can be achieved by the unsung bedroom programmer (Pay attention Sony).
There’s a PPG tutorial available right here. Learn how to use PPG and generate your own up-to-date listings, otherwise, listings will be generated Sunday and available for download Monday.
PPG comes UK-ready; UK station icons included (unzip ppg-images.zip).

Hello there.
I am looking for a graphics designer & music composer to team up with me in making a homebrew game for the PSP.
The game is a relativity small project and should be completed within a few weeks, at a guess I would say a maximum of 2 weeks.
I am looking for a graphics designer capable of creating original sprites/artwork. I want this game to be fancy but don't want to resort to using deviant art or google images and using copyrighted graphics work in order to achieve it.
Same goes for the music. I would like a music composer capable of creating dance/techno music and also sound effects for the menu's and in the game too.
So in other words, I want this to be a full homebrew game. Everything created by us, so there is no chance of infringing copyrights or people moaning at the use of ripped images/music.
The team will consist of the following :
Me : Programming.
Graphics Artist : Graphics design.
Music/Sound composer : Dance/Techno Music + Sound effects for menus and in-game.
I am currently only looking for 1 graphics designer and 1 music/sound composer. I believe that is enough people for the project due to it's relatively small size, as most of the projects resources (graphics especially) will be re-used level by level.
I know I am not saying what the game is or what it will contain but this is for a reason. I want the game to be released when it is completed and don't want to be spoiling it by telling you about it before it is done.
Despite me stating that it is a small project, it is a fun game idea and will be long and hopefully addictive
As for how much is currently done : Well I have everything down on paper and have planned out what I need resource wise and how it will be programmed. Programming it is just a matter of doing it (shouldn't be any hitches) and I hope for the same with the graphics and music.
If you would like to join the team please post here and if possible have links to your previous work.
Thank you

From Software is working on games other than Ninja Blade. Onore no Shinzuru Michi wo Yuke still has ninjas, but the way Shippumaru does things is differently from most ninjas. He doesn’t rely on stealth or strength. He uses shadows to solve problems.
By creating shadows Shippumaru can do multiple tasks at one point in time. As seen in the gameplay video he needs to hit a switch to make a staircase appear. However, if he moves from the switch the staircase vanishes. The solution to the puzzle is to make a shadow hit the switch while the other Shippumaru moves up the staircase. The number of ninja faces on the top right lets you know how many shadows you can make.
In addition to a novel concept Onore no Shinzuru Michi wo Yuke has a unique visual style that screams Ukiyo-e. Japan gets the game sometime in the spring and at this time no international release has been announced. The puzzles appear to be intuitive so importers maybe able to wrestle with Onore no Shinzuru Michi wo Yuke even if a publisher fails to pick it up.

The son of convicted CIA spy, Harold Nicholson, is accused of selling national secrets to the Russians in return for cash that he snuck into the country stuffed in Playstation game cases.
That's really the only tie to gaming this bizarre espionage case, which now goes back more than ten years, has. But it's intriguing to think that spies may have thought of video game cases as the perfect mule for illicit funds.

The Game Gate VU, unveiled this week at the Amusement Trade Exhibition International in London, is a device that will let arcade operators charge people to play console video games.
That's right, it's essentially a Neo-Geo-esque demo station with a coin slot acceptor. Though it does look like this machine will also sport online support through iGames. To make the set up a sweeter deal for companies like Microsoft and Sony, the system will come with a Playstation 3 or Xbox 360 that will need a special activation key and monthly subscription for the arcade owner to use. If an operator stops paying the console stops working and no more quarters... or dollars.
On the downside, the console will still only be able to hold one disc at a time, meaning you can really only set it up for a single game, unlike the Neo-Geo units which has a selection of games to choose from at any given time.
Wow, sounds like a horrendous idea.

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe's David Reeves has said that he believes the PlayStation 3 will always demand the highest price in the home console market.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with our sister site Eurogamer.net, Reeves admitted that there is a possibility for a price cut on the luxury console – but no plans are in place due to the current economic downturn.
"I think it will, yes," said Reeves, when asked whether he would agree the PS3 will remain the most expensive console.
"I'm not saying there are going to be any price cuts at all in the short term or the medium term. I'm not saying we don't need to do it - we are expensive. It is possible that as the cost [of manufacturing] comes down, we will be able to do it.
"But we're protecting ourselves with a very hard shell to get through the next one or two years of an economic situation. If you're experienced, you know you have to go into that mode - it's like being an armadillo. You have to be hard, and then you will come out when the sun comes out."
He added: "If, as an industry, we can get through the next six to seven months, we're going to find a massive uplift in September and October. I'm very optimistic about it."
Commenting on yesterday's results for the third quarter, which showed hardware sales across all PlayStation brands were in decline, Reeves stated that Sony's intention was to break even, rather than increase market share or gain larger sales numbers.
"The plan wasn't necessarily to hit sales, it was to hit a profit target - to do better than break even in Q3," stated Reeves.
"The financial results show a break even in Q3 for Sony Computer Entertainment worldwide. So rather than then going for market share and sales, we went for profit, at least to break even," he revealed.
And although the PlayStation 3 sold less in the last quarter of 2008 than it did for the same period in 2007, Reeves denied sales of the hardware had peaked.
"Absolutely not," he said. "We're two-and-a-half years into a ten year cycle. For October, November and December we were in a holding pattern, especially with the pricing. We had to demonstrate we could make a profit with the business model, and that's what we've done."

Eurogamer recently sat down with David Reeves, president of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, to discuss his views on the PS3, PSP and where they both stand. With regards to exclusive games, Reeves toed the company line, stating that "you can't live on exclusivity forever; in the end, you've got to be master of your own destiny."
By investing in third-party partnerships -- and first-party acquisitions like Guerrilla Games -- Sony removes the need to rely on publishers for exclusive content. "We don't have to go to Capcom or Take-Two and ask for an exclusive. And I don't think we could afford it anyway. In the cold light of day, I would do exactly as those publishers have done and go multi-platform." When asked about any unannounced PS3 titles for later in the year, he indicated that "there are a couple." Look for those to be announced soon, possibly in "the next four to six weeks."
Reeves goes on to discuss the PSP, saying that the system's need for "better and more original games" has not yet been met, but that "the line-up for PSP in 2009 is two or three times stronger than it was last year." It sounds promising, especially considering the number of great Japanese games that are in development for the system. Hopefully we'll see them heading West this year, too.

Sony's preparing to unleash a massive PlayStation marketing blitz, with a £2 million war chest set aside just for flagship FPS Killzone 2.
The company will spend £4 million on a first quarter marketing campaign designed to combat a recent decline in hardware and software sales.
Half of that budget will go on promoting Killzone 2, so don't expect to turn on the TV, browse the web, go to the cinema or open the paper without seeing those menacing orange Helghan eyes staring back at you.
"In the case of Killzone 2 it has become clear to everyone who has seen it that we have a truly great product on our hands," SCEE marketing director Alan Duncan told MCV.
"The great thing is it has lived up to that original billing and in doing so it brings a new energy to the most competitive genre. We need to prove that to as many people as possible, hence the massive campaign."
The rest of the kitty will be spent on advertising Sony's Q1 PSP range, which includes Resistance Retribution and Buzz! Brain, as well as SingStar Queen for PS2 and PS3.

Bethesda has hinted that the next Fallout game may not have a level cap - and might be playable infinitely.
MTV asked executive producer Todd Howard what the greatest lesson learned from Fallout 3's development was, as an indication of what we might expect from Fallout 4.
"Greatest lesson? Don't let the game end, and don't have a level cap," he answered.
There's no way of knowing how serious Howard was being, but it's a mouth-watering thought for Fallout fans all the same.
The developer expressed an intention to make several Fallout games even before Fallout 3 sold like hot cakes last year. There's no indication of a date for Fallout 4, or even confirmation it's in development yet, so sit tight.

Sony CFO Nobuyuki Oneda stated in an earnings call that PS3 sales are still on track with company estimates, reports Edge. The executive admitted that the PS3 is trailing behind other platforms, but expects the console to still hit its announced (and conservative) sales target of "10 million units."
The spin clarification comes as Sony announced it expects a bad fiscal year in the games division, where sales have taken a dip - but at least people might get to keep their jobs.

Hi everyone,
In 2008, I made this program to help make homebrew easier, but finish. Yesterday, Ive found it while cleaning my harddrive out. Its stupid now but I modified it a little bit to make it seem easier. Read the readme.txt to see what it can do.

Uberjack the coder of many emulators for the PSP, posted this news on his site:
Just a short note to let you folks know that things are likely to be a bit slow in the foreseeable future. I haven’t had much time to work on PSP development lately, and this trend doesn’t seem to be improving much. Until further notice, and unless things drastically change, I consider SMS Plus AdHoc more or less abandoned - if anyone is interested in continuing it, go for it - if you’re particularly successful, I’ll even add it to the main development branch.
For a while, if there are changes, they are likely to be smaller in nature and scattered - smaller upgrades and bug fixes, mostly. I also want to note that the forum is likely to be removed soon; any existing suggestions and bug reports will be retained; new suggestions will not be accepted for a while, though bug reports are always welcome. If you’d like to retain any posts, please do so before they’re removed.
