Reuters reports that Sony Corp "will likely" have an operating loss of approximately $1.1 billion this year, its first in 14 years. According to the wire service, some global economic slump that's going on right now has caused inventory for the company to stack up in all its divisions and prices to fall.
It was already expected that Sony would be cutting thousands of jobs and closing manufacturing plants, but an analyst quoted in the report believes the company will now "further accelerate its restructuring." There's no word on how the PS3 and PSP divisions of the company will be affected. The silver lining in this for consumers is that the PS3 is rumored to receive another price drop in the next few months.

There's good news this morning for Mirror's Edge fans of all platform persuasions. PC users, you'll actually get to play the game when it finally appears on store shelves this week. For the 360 or PS3 people, DICE has nailed down the nebulous "January" release date for the Time Trial DLC to the 29th.
For $10, you'll get nine races spanning seven brand new maps. Comparing the screens we've seen in the gallery below to the maps in the retail version, the DLC looks a little less "realistic" and a little more, "Hey, we didn't have to pay for textures," but we'll hold off on judging until we lay our own eyes on them.

Just in this morning is a brand new Killzone 2 trailer that will show you why Guerrilla's shooter will be giving your PS3's microchips a thorough workout when it lands on February 25.
It'll also give you a sneak peek at some of the game's later environments and enemies - the one's game director Mathijs de Jonge was talking about when he responded to the 'grey' criticisms in a statement to CVG.
But if you're looking forward to the game this'll only make you want it more. It's going to be a long six weeks (...for you. We've finished it).

Alright, here's something to blow you away. Custom firmware on PSP 3000.Custom firmware on PSP3000?? Yes, it's not a joke. The guys over at PSP GEN have done it.
They are reporting about a PSP 3000 running HEN custom firmware through the recently found GripShift savegame exploit.

For those unfamiliar with it:
“HEN” is short for “Homebrew ENabler” and is basically the core of every custom firmware, it’s that part that makes all the patches and other magic required to launch homebrew on the PSP.
The big difference of HEN to a custom firmware, as it’s known these days, is that nothing gets written into the PSPs internal flash but everything happens in memory only - this also means it’s gone by the next coldboot and needs to be reapplied through the exploit, but that’s a small price to pay, most will say.
Although the creators of this achievement say it won’t be released to the public until at least a second kernel exploit has been found (due to Sony patching it as soon as the files are released), this definitely puts up high hopes for things to come on the PSP 3000.

Wow todays sees an updated release for the PSP from Sleeper and M@x which basically allows you to play mobile java games on your PSP.
Heres the release details
This is a kvm to run j2me applications on PSP.
Installation:
Copy "pspkvm" and "pspkvm%" to GAME150 folder.
Usage:
Start PSPKVM and select a .jar file in the Memory stick to run.
The defualt device is SE K800i, user can press Triangle to select another device, such as Nokia S60, Motolora Triplets, and etc.

PSPWoord is a web-enabled text editor that resembles Microsoft Word 2003, and with that said, PSPWoord doesn’t require the installation of a custom firmware. Anyone & everyone can make use of this web app.
Your PSPWoord documents are saved in a “.doc” format to a remote location and can later be downloaded to your memory stick; of course, you must be within range of a WiFi connection to do that.
PSPWoord v1.5 changes:
New look when you’re loading or saving a file.
New servers, first we had 4… now 10!
Saved .doc files before update will not be lost.

Moscas user of our forum, updates its Goblins PSP version 1.4.2.2
For those who do not know, this program will enable you to perform backups of the data on your memory stick, load and / or delete your backup UMD, launch programs like the RemoteJoy and USBIsolader and update your Custom Firmware.

I got bored and wanted to make a little app that would allow people to make soundboards for the PSP. It is not the best coding I have done, but it gets the job done.
Lua player .20 is included, so you need a phat, or you can get a 3.xx compatible version of lua player.
Note:
You can not stop the sounds from playing.

It seems SONY didn't like Datels Lite Blue Tool which switched the PSP in a pseudo service mode. Datel just announced that SONY uses the power of the law against them and their "hacktool" now.
Here a datel quote:
Due to legal action by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe we are currently not able to fulfil orders for the Lite Blue Tool Battery. Any orders received for this product have not been processed and no charges have been made. We will inform customers about availability of this product when this situation has been resolved.
It's rumoured that SONY do this because they have information about Datel used parts of original SONY source codes to get the battery working.
