News/release from Raing3
I have decided to stop including sources now because they are bloating the size of the file.
PSP Tool is a multi-purpose utility to application which can perform various general management functions on a PlayStation Portable console. This includes:
- Backup and Restore the IdStorage of the PSP
- Check the IPL injected on the Memory Stick or a file located on the Memory Stick
- Check, Backup, Restore and change the battery EEPROM
- Connect various devices through a USB cable
- Create a checksum of the IPL injected on the Memory Stick or an IPL located on the Memory Stick
- Create a variety of different Magic Memory Sticks
- Erase the entire IPL space of the Memory Stick
- Extract the IPL injected on the Memory Stick to a file
- Format the Memory Stick
- Inject a variety of included IPLs or an IPL from a file to the Memory Stick
In this release I made the following changes:
- Added options to create DC3, DC4, DC5, DC7, DC8 or an original 1.50 Update Flasher Magic Memory Sticks (read manual for requirements, same as original installers).
- Added a Memory Stick format function based on Hellcats Pandora Installer.
- The wave colours are now random and customizable (the wave colours can be changed by pressing SQUARE or holding L while pressing square toggles between the flash0 colours and the internal colours).
- Other minor alterations and fixes.
- Fixed crash when attempting to use a flash via USB when run under DC.
- All files (except loaded PRXs) are now stored in a zip archive in the PSAR section of the EBOOT for easy editing.
- Sources are no longer included to reduce file size.
- IdStorage keys are now saved and restored from a single file and the integrity of the file is validated before restoration.
- Added more information to the system information pandels.
Also I only just added the format function last night and I was having a few troubles but I got it working with my 1GB Sony MS and my 4GB SandDisk MS alright but I'm not sure if it completely works so if you end up using that function can you just post a reply of what type of MS you have so I can get an idea of whether or not in works on most Memory Sticks. Thanks.

added support for codepages (conversion of extended ascii to unicode depending on source)
added column printing with automatic linebreaks - no need to worry about overwriting parts of the screen or printing outside the screen anymore
added full justification (flush left&right) for column printing
various optimizations related to UCS2 conversion (thanks to StrmnNrmn)
added functions to print/measure the first n chars of a string (thanks to StrmnNrmn)
For more information on how to use the new features checkout the readme and the samples contained within the download. You can download intraFont 0.24 from here.

Uberjack posted this news:
If you’re a fan of classic console emulators on PSP, you have no doubt heard of DaveX — he’s well-known for his nifty mods for emulators like NesterJ, and most recently, PicoDrive. These mods are the time rewind and mirror features, which rewind emulation (similar to Braid), and flip the screen horizontally.
Dave is responsible for the popular mod of SMS Plus PSP, and he recently agreed to let me use the time rewind code in the official distribution of the emulator, as well as any other emulators. Look forward to the next version of SMS Plus with this feature included.
Special thanks to Dave for the clever feature, and for agreeing to let me use it elsewhere.

News from dlanor
Like the title says, using uLE v4.31 to write any files (or to delete any) on a USB drive may cause corruption in the FAT32 filesystem of that drive. And for large files this is almost certain to happen.
Please avoid using uLE v4.31 to write on USB drives.
If you must write to such drives on the PS2, use uLE v4.30 instead, since that is not affected by this problem.
The problem is caused by some bug(s) in the new USBHDFSD driver version which was used for the first time in uLE v4.31. I will be working with radad, the developer of that USBHDFSD version, to fix this bug ASAP.

At Sony CEO Howard Stringer's keynote address, he underlined a keen interest in developing 3D technology -- specifically, RealD 3D -- and its potential future with Sony. While the discussion primarily concerned the box office, Stringer did allude to its possible use in videogames, as evidenced by a flashed image of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. Inside the CES expo hall, though, Sony is going a step further with RealD and the PlayStation 3 by showing off three different technology demos of games using the stereoscopic effect: Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, WipEout HD, and MotorStorm: Pacific Rift.
Now, none of these games were playable. They were only shown on a loop and the attendant at the 3D area repeatedly reminded viewers that nothing we were seeing should be taken as a firm plan to create 3D PS3 games. Hopefully, the gentleman's warnings are one day replaced by reality, because by slipping on a pair of RealD glasses, all three games popped to life. The Gran Turismo 5 Prologue demo ran replay laps of various races with a handful of different cars. The 3D is effective, giving the replay footage real depth. The car, racing toward the screen in one cinematic camera swoop, did appear to be moving toward you but not overbearingly so. It was actually somewhat subtle, which was in certain contrast to the other two demos.
The WipEout HD clip was only a few seconds long but nonetheless impressive. At least, it was to me. The showgoer next to me remarked that he didn't see what all the fuss was about. Maybe he had one of his eyes closed, because the way the HUD floated in "front" of the television looked almost as if you were staring through a display projected on a windshield. The vehicle hovered over the track, which raced toward you as the ship screamed around a lap. In many ways, I was reminded of some older 3D videogame tech demos because there is a degree of obtrusiveness with the floating HUD. It feels like a mildly forced effect, but the cleanliness of the image versus past efforts is part of what makes it look so cool.
Of the three demos, my favorite was MotorStorm: Pacific Rift because it seemed to exist between the subtlety of GT5 Prologue and the obviousness of WipEout HD. The HUD didn't pop as much as Wipeout HD's gauge, but it certainly existed on a different plane from the action. The sheer amount of scenery the buggy raced through, such as trees or brush, really appeared to take up space. You could see the buggy was in front of, then inside of, and finally behind a bush as it powers through it. And when the buggy crashed, the rolling wreckage really bounced off of the ground and pieces exploded into the air on what looked like real trajectories separate from both the buggy and the track. The sum of the effects gave MotorStorm a true 3D effect that felt organic. Stuff wasn't flying toward you just to call attention to 3D.
While I must stress that these are not planned titles (much like the Sony rep did), I walked away from my RealD PS3 demo with genuine enthusiasm. If deployed properly inside games as a way to enhance the immersion -- such as MotorStorm's depth of field -- this could be an exciting selling point for the PS3 in the future.

News/release from daaa57150
DJ Drops is a musical puzzle game where the goal is to complete each level (and therefore to resist), until the end of the music.
The game has already undergone 2 spin offs (which came out before so I know it's weird!) Available here:
Drops Mega, Mega Drops 2
This demo shows a new level when the "S Soup" (normal difficulty), but whose effects are completed, it lacks some pictures and documents are still not properly designed
And if someone is motivated to give me a hand ca not be turned down!

Could a PlayStation 2 software emulator be coming to all PlayStation 3's in the near future?
Yes we know your launch PlayStation 3 plays PlayStation 2 games. Good for you. However, with a necessary chip missing from recent models, the rest of us are left in the lurch.
So here comes the rumour that Sony is looking into the problem. In order to keep the PS3's price down the originally included PS2 chips were cut out (look here to see the reformed PS3 board), so the only solution is to develop software emulation. Reportedly anyone who's up to the challenge can enter the frame.
The rumour comes from NeoGAF member Meph who recounts what was told to him by a Sony representative (openly described as a 'tool'). The story goes that Sony might be willing to buy a PlayStation 2 emulator for the future.
"He mentioned that since the PS2 has just 1 year left on its life-cycle not to expect them to develop anything new with regards to backwards compatibility," says Meph.
"He then leans in and lowers his voice, as if to tell me some deep dark secret and mentions that Sony may be willing to potentially buy a PS2 emulator to put in future consoles."
According to Meph this similarly happened with PlayStation 1 backwards compatibility in the PlayStation 2.
How exactly an independent coder could create a PlayStation 2 emulator without a PlayStation 3 development kit, we're unawares, but intriguing nonetheless.

From Software is bringing Tenchu 4 to the PSP and it doesn’t look like it’s losing any of the content from the Wii version. This trailer shows us a bunch of things we’ve seen before sneaking in the shadows, lethal takedowns, and the cat tool with PSP graphics. Ubisoft still hasn’t announced if we’re getting the PSP version, but that’s likely because we don’t have the Wii version yet. Give it a few months and we should see the motion control-less Tenchu 4 here too.

We recently played Dark Void again at CES in Capcom's suite at Planet Hollywood. We're not going to bore you with the details, as they'd probably be the same glowing ones we dropped on you during last year's E3. Graphics look even better, jetpacking around is still ridiculously enjoyable, etc.
But we simply had to pass on one of the new bits that Capcom told us as we attempted to wipe the stupidly giddy smile off our faces post-demo: They've added guns to the jetpack. Do you get what we're saying here? They took the most awesome invention since the light bulb, the jetpack, and bolted weapons to it. Besides tearing the space-awesome continuum to shreds, it also means man-on-alien-saucer dogfights are a possibility.
Man. On. Alien. Saucer. Dogfights. Let it sink in.

In a rather pointed media alert distributed yesterday, Sony illustrates why they believe the PlayStation 3 is the most complete console entertainment experience, complete with a handy table to highlight the competition's shortcomings.
Sony's statement in the alert echoes points tossed about in forum flame wars all across the internet. The Xbox 360 has no built-in Wi-Fi and online multiplayer isn't free; the Wii lacks enhanced features such as DVD playback and a hard drive - we've seen it all before. Just not generally in the form of an official company communication.
The Xbox 360 requires additional money, multiple upgrades and additional external devices, putting a burden on the wallet and adds clutter to the entertainment center. And the Wii's lack of enhanced features comes at the expense of a comprehensive entertainment solution. So as PS3 continues to evolve without the need for additional parts or expenses, expect the competition to continue peddling add-ons in an effort to keep up with the Jones'.

Sony's CES booth holds promise for the wi-fi connected multimedia hound: a PSP that acts as a software remote for networked audio streams. While experimental and not yet confirmed for release, the software looks cool.
The PSP basically acts as a cheaper software remote for your Sony brand AV receiver. It would give users the option of browsing and controlling audio on a laptop steaming to the receiver, all via the PSP. The receiver unit on the show floor was, I believe, the STR-DA6400ES — one of the pricier home theater options Sony offers.
Currently, the interface follows the Xross Media Bar standard used in recent Sony products and, while it could use some massaging, it works.
No word on when or if Sony plans to release this little software perk to the public, but we'd guess expressing your interest in getting your hands on something like this wouldn't hurt.

Electronic Arts has announced its first foray into PlayStation Home with a dedicated EA Sports label game space, the EA Sports Complex. Set to appear in the Home open beta this spring, the space will contain live leaderboards for all of the EA Sports label's titles, along with games designed specifically for the space (multiplayer poker and an arcade-style Formula 1 racer have been revealed thus far).
EA Sports president Peter Moore said in a press release, "As part of our continued commitment to the connected experience and the digitization of our business, the EA SPORTS Complex is a rich new online environment that presents a compelling and immersive social gaming experience for the global sports audience." Come again, Peter? English.
As you can see in the first released image of the space, there will be ads aplenty. In addition to banners and other signage, the space will feature multiple video walls displaying ads trailers for upcoming EA Sports titles. EA has confirmed that it is working with SCEA on additional Home spaces for its Games and Casual labels.

"But all my games are already in 3D!" you exclaim, quick to accuse Joystiq of being "bias" and desperate to downplay the PlayStation 3's magnificent graphical capabilities. Rest assured, dear reader, that this post concerns real three dee, the kind that leaps off the screen and subtly mocks you for donning a pair of silly, silly glasses.
Ars Technica had a brief glimpse at some new 3D technology on display at Sony's CES booth and came away impressed. Though a Sony representative remained mum on specifications and insisted that it was merely "a look at what 3D could look like if Sony decided to move in this direction," the effect on PlayStation 3 games proved most enticing. After peering through "a dorky set of black glasses" at Wipeout HD, post author Ben Kuchera noted, "I was ready to whip out my credit card right there."
Late last year, a stereoscopic 3D Certification and Advocacy group claimed that Sony was fully intending to support 3D stereoscope technology, in both movies and games, in 2009. In the interest of embracing as many dimensions as possible, we sincerely hope the CES showing manages to draw out a few more credit cards. (But not from tech journalists -- those are usually maxed out.)

Not content with spending your real Earth bucks on a virtual tankini for your Quincy? Considering Sony has reportedly sold "one million dollars worth of virtual goods" through the still-in-beta PlayStation Home service, that would seemingly put you in the (more frugal, smarter) minority, but perhaps you could take out some virtual needle and thread and make your own, according to Develop Magazine.
Revealed in a two-part interview with Home's lead programmer, Mitch Goodwin, news of user-generated content – while far from a revelation – sends the fledgling service even further into Second Life territory. But what about keeping Home a safe place for the family to wait in a line to virtually bowl? Goodwin concedes, "Obviously we're not naive, and we know that with an online service you have to have strict moderation – we don't want the user to be exposed to rubbish." Of course, by "rubbish" he means "flying penises." Also, speaking of being "not naive" – we wouldn't expect user-generated content to be free ... to purchase, or to make.

If you've been putting off SOCOM: Confrontation until developer Slant Six worked out all the bugs (oh, and added a Quick Match/Party system ... and Trophies), then today's your lucky day, friend. The long anticipated 1.30 update was pushed out early this morning, bringing with it the aforementioned features and fixes. Will it be enough to restore Sony's once-proud franchise to the top of your multiplayer shooter-heap? We won't pretend to know the answer to that, so we'll ask you. Is SOCOM back in action?
