The well respected French dev site, DevFR have today posted an article on the sickness of the PSP Scene, heres the article via google translation:
You may not be aware of what happened in the PSP scene these days, if you are you can still play but n'embêtez your friends ... In any case Professor Pyroh will have to decipher it all for you.
In the beginning
The PSP is marketed since 2004 and is the version 1.00 firmware that could begin to run homebrews, so quickly after its release. Then they swore not more than 1.50 firmware which really allowed to do everything as we wanted. But some had updated their PSP as construction and could not therefore benefit from the underground scene. Flaws were discovered (in the lib tiff it seems to me) and saw the HEN (Homebrew Enabler for) that would do almost the same but with manipulation to make first. It was a bit wobbly, some have their beautiful brick PSP gained for the price of a kidney and half the time, he needed an alternative, more sustainable and simple.
Arriving on his white horse, Dark_Alex, who had already done some stuff above-proposes a method for the PSP downgrader and return to good and beautiful firmware 1.50. This has 3 effects on the small world the PSP is to allow everyone to enjoy the scene, for its PSP Bricker more easily and bring down the price of 1.50 on ebay while also showing more models in a perfect state of brick.
The 1.50 was good but it was a time, it was not all "progress" of other more advanced firmwares. Essential features of the web browser rapellant how it was good to surf the net in 1997 and how Sony's engineers were wrong in terms of virtual keyboard. It was not counting on the PS1 emulation which appeared with the + / -3.00, it had to be done. Dark_Alex and Roy (yes, Roy, on the horse is the Prince, he married Princess and jumps and takes the throne, logic) asked his blessing once again and released the first custom firmware, a rainy Thursday.
Custom Firmware or CF is like a 1.50 but with 3.00 in it. Basically we get the interesting thing in version 2 and are mixed to make a super firmware that allows running homebrew (and ISOs too, I assure you) but, and it is good, it also incorporates the killer Sony made in feature! It was at first, now do FC after more than 1.50 in, you must install it separately as a plugin.
All this was great and everything went for mieu in the best of worlds, we had our PSP was everything we wanted and we had better not need to pay 3 of interesting games 'Then, on the Memory Stick ... Brickées the PSP and their owners were crying. Dark_Alex has disappeared and he said I quit. No serious M33 the Russian team took over the baton some time later.
A new wind
It came from the east wind, it was again called M33, it emerged as the new firmware King Dark_Alex or not ... In fact it was he who was behind all this, the rascal. In short, as in "The Return of the King" he returned. It was a gentle breeze, in fact, the real blow for change came when we realized that we had at Sony planqué of something in the battery for the valuable débricker PSP came SAV (all paying huh ).
Today is born the Pandora battery and Magic MS (also a Thursday). It would débriquer any PSP but also to install the firmware we wanted it, freedom, true! Once served by our friend Dark_Alex everything went very well. And the PSP Slim & Lite (PSP 2000) has arrived. Ben, in fact we do not care the Pandora's also walked over, no worries. Thereafter Dark_Alex released their kit Despertar Del Cimentario (yes it is a bit from there) which made things easier, the Swiss Army knife for PSP wholesale, and its firmware. You can do anything with downgrade, débrick, coffee and tea. It was beautiful.
This is where ca se corse
Another Thursday the PSP 3000 came and there was the tragedy. Sony has finally understood that its PSP was hackée to stem the evil and that "pirates" unofficial top for far too long! The kit Pandora did not work above, no custom firmware, forced to stay on as official said, obliged to pay its games (I exaggerate not there). The situation seemed desperate qu'allait take Roy for his kingdom? Ben, like all monarchs installed too: making shit to show who is the head.
The winds of discord
At the time firmware 3.XX we saw coming _HellDashX_ new on the scene and, oh heresy, walking on the beds of the government. Released a firmware 3.72HX who sparked a controversy. The author had it, as claimed Dark_Alex only stole the job to him and changed a little bit to make sure the files fame and fortune? Frankly we do not care a bit, the user is a winner with the opening to competition and the 3.72 was shunned by Dark_Alex who did not 3.72CF version. Nevertheless _HellDashX_ was hated by the scene and its firmware scrapped.
It is well to be a sort of supremacy of DA (Dark_Alex) at the scene PSP, despite the attempts to justify _HellDashX_ did nothing and the people remain attached to DA, he was right to say whatever _HellDashX_ was wrong and was a dirty thief saint of work and deserved to be hanged high and short! It would seem that he has stolen anything at all and he has worked as a single.
It's the site pspgen.com who threw another big stone into the pond Royal. Remember PSPGEN is an open site for some time and met the French PSP scene. There are other sites available gen I let you discover them through links on the site. Note that the gen sites are not always equal in terms of quality content and that's a shame. This is cronyism over, therefore PSPGEN another Thursday released a firmware stamped GEN. Rather, it is past, they are friends with over-DA therefore all is well again, all this competition ... What is interesting to note is that the author of the firmware even if it was limited at the outset appears to be a miriam hitherto unknown to the battalion. Finally, if you will, but later is better than Dallas.
Thousand Free!
And the industry is to put the game out bad but interesting: Grip Shift. The particularity of this game is that a backup changed little on the run on the PSP homebrew incrackables because of motherboard or protected because it is a PSP 3000. It provides that:
It is doing eh? But it is a good beginning, it must be stressed. This is not the first time a flaw is a game used for these purposes, GTA already had at the time allowed to do that.
However this finding is rather positive and HEN is well considered. Thus the developer house PSPGEN, Miriam, has begun to work and made a PSPGEN news to show that it worked (a POC or Proof Of Concept). Here it is too Roy is unhappy and decides to any rotting.
How to loose friends and alienate people
The current situation at present is not really pretty. First DA wrote a post to express his dissatisfaction Royal:
Quote from: Ladies and gentlemen, Roy
This is about this.
http://www.pspgen.com/psp-3000-5-02h...te-184918.html
This is about how I trusted someone called "Miriam" and I gave him a kernel exploit of C + D, which was found by joek (the only one that deserves credit of that), just to play for himself, as it is being used 3k modules to decrypt, but the first thing he did was to show to others to get a bit of fame.
Now I realize not to trust anyone anymore, thanks.
Basically he says he is not happy because he had given the code to make the feat possible miriam by specifying that it was right for him not to release. The code is not DA at the base, it is Joek. Nevertheless DA not use the code for releaser anything (the Roy spoke) and miriam he accuses of having launched a POC just for the fame and fortune.
This is the webmaster of Alek dark-alex.org who set foot in the dish with a post in which he revealed the true identity of miriam the _HellDashX_ terrible! Diantre of twists. It is the main person who speaks better:
Quote from: miriam
I will not attempt to classify Dark_Alex as a liar because nobody would believe me, then I'll try to explain a likely scenario to explain this false accusation. I suppose I owe you some explanations after qu'aleK me so kindly (cough) called by my old nickname for a more "flamming.
I will not deny that I am _HellDashX_ but I doubt the fact that this is due to a lie. _HellDashX_était My nickname (Miriam) and my partner Alex (Nothing to do with Alex), when we worked together on various projects including the reverse engineering of Custom Firmware. After reverse several modules, we decided to put online 3.72HX with great pleasure that has been marred by controversy over the fact that these modules were hexa-edited. They were, but the most intelligent here will understand that the patch, you must still know how they work. At the time, we had already returned vshctrl and popcorn. In the 3.73HX, this was followed PPAR a reverse of the IPL and a number of other modules, but the flaming rule continued.
After a certain period of time, we managed to get in touch with Mathieulh and Dark_AleX via MSN following the fact that we expressed hexa-published yet another project. After they have proved they were wrong, we have gained a certain level of trust with Dark_Alex during the following months.
We had to publish their downstream Leun new Custom Firmware (this time, we had fully repaid their Custom Firmware, ie all individual modules and IPL), but I did not want to see my old pseudo was cataloged, and I decided to put it online in one of our names. Miriam is, I am not articiciel and I have nothing to hide.
Now that this is cleared up, turn on the feat. I realize that only a few people believe me, but that's OK, I'll tell you my story anyway.
Several days ago, I found a vulnerability in the kernel and after several conversations with Dark_Alex about it on MSN, he told me to use the same operator. I then said I was trying to install a private HEN but some things do not work, and asked for some advice. Despite this help, I still can not run but a developer friend arrived with another solution that has proved functional. A little later, I received the code of its own exploit via MSN, but this time the HEN was already functioning at 95% and based on my own code. Dark_Alex then asked me not to publish the exploit kernel, but to look for another, what I observed in not issuing the current version of HEN in public.
However, under pressure from some people, I gave MaGiXieN to make a video of HEN in action, but without revealing details. That is exactly what has been done. Nobody, apart MaGiXieN and me, does this launcher homebrew / ISO, and I am the only one to know how.
We would have appreciated if Dark_Alex had at least mentioned this on this problem via MSN but it has stalled. There was absolutely no reason to get this message in public, to reveal my identity and making false accusations, without even a word exchange.
I was looking in the firmware Another flaw to discover another Exploit Kernel, but I think I can get more attention. I do not need this e-drama, I have a real life, friends, family and I wish that I leave this post by saying "Goodbye".
Who's wrong is right? Nobody really knows what it is we should note the attitude of DA that I have not known Roy for nothing in this whole article. Though it was very important at the scene, continues to be, and we can only acknowledge and respect the work done over the years for the stage.
It still moves?
Where is the scene today? From a DA who does not visibly competition and using his fame to get rid of its competitors and competitors who just can not prove their good faith. The underground complex will become formal and official that the world? The user is unclear in all this. I do not want to clip the wings development on PSP 3000, because from the outside this can be noticed.
The scene is bad but is not dead and it is not the rumors of a PSP2 for 2010 that fail to give a boost to it. In any case it is not Red Squirrel which we will say the opposite, he left the scene leaving a message which are: "the PSP scene is ill, with its" boss ", its" smart "and its" Lamers ""
It is going to comment ...
Although the translation isnt great you can tell that the writer thinks that Dark ALex doesnt like competition and uses his power to rid the scene of competition, cant say anything about that myself but i remember a year or 2 ago when certain sites were paying coders for exclusives and trying to poach coders from sites using the power of money.
like every scene, we move on but this time even liberal sites are speaking out, what are your thoughts on the translationn above ?

Sony has confirmed that it will release a PlayStation 3 bundle with Killzone 2 in the UK.
As with the title itself, a release date for the bundle in the region has yet to be set, although the cost was detailed to be GBP 299.99. It was earlier confirmed that Guerrillas' sequel to its popular first person shooter would be released in the US on February 27.
Killzone 2 is seen as a system seller by many, with the news of this bundle coming out shortly after Sony celebrated a 40 per cent year-on-year growth in sales of the PS3.
Despite this increase in sales by Sony Entertainment, the corporation as a whole is still expected to report a loss of USD 1.1 billion later this month.

Blazepro have today released the Wireless Keypad for the PS3, this wireless keypad is similar in design to the official Sony Wireless Keypad but Sonys version comes at an expensive $62, a few weeks ago the 3in1 Wireless keyboard controller remote was released and that boasted a Keyboard/Remote/Joypad at a much cheaper $28.52, but todays release from Blazepro comes at a credit crunching USD 10.90, heres the full details:
Tired of trying to enter text with a standard game pad? The wireless keypad is the best way to enjoy all of your PS3 Game System keyboard compatible games. The wireless keypad is designed to turn your standard Sony?original controller into a fully functional keypad. Simply snap it on,, plug it in, and you are ready to bring your gaming dreams to the next level.
RF2.4GHz technology
Available over 6 meters straightaway range
Leap-frequency communication solution, strongly anti-jamming
After well connected, this wireless keypad and it’s receiver will be partnered automatically
Easy to use-just clip onto PS3 controller
Personally i prefer the 3in1 Wireless keyboard controller remote over this but for the price you cant lose really.

MaGiXieN has released a new version of the GripShift Binary Loader for the Game Gripshift that allows you to play homebrew on the PSP3000, heres the details:
I promised this a while ago in an announcement, but since that a lot of things happened, and Miriam has left the scene.
As I always try to keep to my promises, I asked some friends to help me out, and here we are, a binary loader updated for the European GripShift.
This will be able to run all binaries compiled for the US GripShift, as the import tables are shifted around to match the US offsets,
as they aren't used by the game at the time of the exploit anymore anyways.
Plain and simple, copy the PSP folder to the root of your memory stick and you'll be able to use it in the same way as the US one,
it'll load a binary from ms0:/h.bin and execute it. Download the US Sparta SDK and samples for more information.
UPDATE : DON'T FORGET TO SET ENGLIGH LANGUAGE ON YOUR PSP

Contrary to the name, PSXChecker is not what you may think… It’s in no way used for PSX/PSOne-emulated games. Xager’s PSXChecker is actually a homebrew app for testing and diagnosing certain system routines of your handheld — make sure the buttons are in working order, test the left and right audio channels, and look for, even maybe repairing, stuck pixels.
TODO:
Graphical menu, not likely but still possible.
Change sound to “left channel, right channel”
More tests?
Possibility to test a second joystick?
Eastereggs?
Fullscreen TV-out, will look into it for 1.1

Sadly another coder quits the PSP Scene, heres his final post:
With this little post I say goodbye to PSP scene officially.
The reasons are essentially three: first of all, I never have free time to spend for this console development, because of the study and a real life more chaotic and stressful, as well as interest turned to other platforms.
Another reason is that I don't touch a PSP from many months, an "interesting" game is not released from about a year in Europe... and then in PSP scene exists all you need, all has been coded, so I consider it as a "finished" and very very boring panorama.
At the end, some things happened in PSP scene during last days deeply impressed me, because I understood (a more time again...) as the PSP scene is ill, with its "boss", its "smarts" and its "lamers".
For this and other reasons I officially annouce my retirement from the scene: there will be NO updates to my tools, so please stop to ask for them using my email address.
I will continue with the development of tools for other platforms (Windows, WII, Linux, ecc...) and I will keep updated this my personal website, so stay tuned!
Sad to see another quality coder go

Kreationz has posted some news concerning the N64 Emulator for PSP:
Well first the apology. Sorry I've been gone so long life just got busy between work and other things, but I should have down time over the next week to get back in the game so to speak. I've started going over the myriad of changes to the code since I left and will be looking at my prior ideas that I haven't implemented yet. So real quick here's my plan for the next week or so.
Get caught up on all the forums. (Got a lot of reading to do.) Go over all the revision changes I missed. Test some old bugs to see if they are still there. Then get back to diving into the code. I'm going to look at cleaning up the code, blasting a few quick bugs, checking stability issues and getting ready for the Beta 2. I've been talking with the other devs about this and we feel it's getting close to time for it, so I'm going to be shooting for the end of the month on this (but it may take a bit longer) and trying to pack in as many bug fixes/graphical fixes for as many of the playable titles as possible.
On the code side of things:
[!] Fixed White Ghosting in Mario Kart 64 (Hopefully with performance issues this time.)
Also the texture cache can be flushed less often now which should allow for a slight performance boost in some circumstances. (More may be able to be done here but I have to do some testing.)
Lets hope its not too long before we sample a new version of the N64 Emulator.

Krakatos has posted a new version of the PS2 emu for Windows and new plugins too:
OK, new beta posted. This is mainly a bugfix release for beta 599, to solve the most serious bugs. Still Vtlb only, Vuskip still doesn't work. I am removing 599 since as said this is a bugfix release.
Also, while I'm at it, I added to the first posts the plugins included into the playground svn as they are today. Don't expect great improvements, but you may as well use them. Be sure to reconfigure from scratch, delete the ini files. The plugins included are:
Linuzappz
Zerogs
Spu2ghz
Zerospu
Changelog since beta 599:
- major bugfix from rev 595. Solves Mgs3 crash and bios problems, may have been responsible for other quirky behaviours
- some hackfixes for Fatal Frame 1
- removed a typo in memory.cpp
- a few small optimizations tweaks
- a few small vumicro changes
Known issues:
Vuskip is still broken, frameskip may be quirky but seems fine for now

I would just like to make this post to apologise for the huge delay in getting the new Wolf 3D release out to you all.
This wasn't intentional and I am really sorry for keeping you all waiting. It was mainly caused by too much work, and not enough time off, over tiredness, lack of enthusiasm to do anything but watch tv or sleep when I get home etc etc.
Work has since (about a week back) gone back to 2 days off per week. I am also off from Wednesday until Sunday (back at work Monday) so I will try my damned hardest to get the new version of Wolf 3D out to you guys by then.
I will release an update for you all regardless of whether the whole features/fixes list is done. I will focus on the main issues/features and anything else that makes it into the new version is a bonus.
I just want to get a new version out for you guys.
So again, sorry for leading you all on and I swear I will try my hardest to get a Wolf 3D release (90% certain) out to you some day this week.
Thanks for your patience.

Dragonball's anime to silver screen transition looks... rough. Not that the source material was that spectacular to begin with, but it's sure to send fans into a frenzy. How bout the movie-based video game?
The good news is that the PSP-bound video game based on Dragonball Evolution looks yards better than the game based on Street Fighter: The Movie.

Like some greedy vampire that just won't rest, Final Fantasy VII keeps coming back again and again to suck the contents out of your wallets. Its latest incarnation is a re-release of Advent Children, and Sony's getting in on the game with yet another special edition console to celebrate it. The upgraded movie is said to boast 30 more minutes of gratuitous high-res animation action while the new PS3 features a 160GB HDD and a matte "Cloud Black" paint job with Cloud's Strike Strife Wolf emblem engraved (or at least appliqued) on top. The bundle with the movie (including a demo of Final Fantasy XIII) will sell for about $550 in Japan when it releases next month -- naturally there was no mention of a US release.

We're all a bit bored by the PSP at this point, and the PS3 has failed to impress us much lately as well. But with a few minor tweaks, we'd be blown away by both.
Sony just asked its customers what they want in the next PSP. Well here's what we want in our next PSP, and most of it's doable through software alone.
Get Remote Play Working, Standard
Remote Play promised to allow gamers to play PS3 games through the internet on their PSPs. Brilliant! And it was actually implemented in a game PS3 called Lair...and then basically nothing else. You can find Remote Play in a handful of downloadable PS3 titles, but it's far from a standard offering, and basically doesn't exist in the world of AAA releases. But just think—Remote Play would lessen the PSP's need for original titles—something Sony hasn't been able to secure as of late—and promote loyalty to the PS3 since its games would be playable from anywhere.
Make the PSP the Ultimate Blu-ray Remote
If there's one thing you can't fault the PS3 for, it's the machine's excellent Blu-ray playback. So why not make the PSP the unequivocal best Blu-ray remote ever? Not only could you use the PSP for basic functions, but a little programming savvy could stream entire BD features to your hands. Imagine the use of a Wi-Fi enabled second screen from the PSP with streaming audio support. You could watch a movie with a friend and decide that just you would turn on the audio commentary for a scene (through headphones), while viewing some extra production stills (on your secondary display). Hey, we'd settle for a submenu on the PSP's screen, even.
Give Us a PSOne-to-PSP Ripping Tool
Offer us a tool to rip PSOne games on the PS3 in order to be transferred to the PSP. They can wrap them in DRM and charge us $5 each time we rip a game, and we'd still do it. While we'd say the same for PS2 titles, we realize that PSP processors probably couldn't handle the software emulation load. PSOne games, though? Definitely.
Display Hints and Walkthroughs That Sync with PS3
Easy money for Sony—license out the option to make PS3 walkthroughs for the PSP. The strategy guide company does all the work, creating the text file (already on hand from their publications) and some basic syncing cues from, I dunno, saved game files or scripts. We're sure if enough money was exchanged between all involved parties, something could be figured out that's not so resource intensive that it isn't worth their while.
Our Only Hardware Revision: Add a Second Analog Stick Already
Look Sony, you were wrong, just give in. Screw backwards compatibility and add the second analog stick to make the PSP essentially interchangeable with the Dual Shock 3/SIXAXIS. Just as that second analog stick has held back PSP developers, it's also limited Remote Play functionality and the option to use the PSP as a premium controller. The hardware is holding back the software, but not in a "we just need stronger processors" way. It's a simple fix. PSP loyalists might complain, but trust us, they're complaining more that their controls are gimped. (Oh, and Bluetooth would be a runner up for greater connectivity options.)
Do All of the Above, Then Sell a PS3/PSP Bundle
The PS3 has already lost the game machine war. But it's still a contender as a premium home theater machine. Offer users a deal in which they can pick up a PS3 along with a PSP. Upsell the PSP as a remote, a second screen, and a media streamer (as opposed to a bulky PMP with a crappy game catalog).
