Peter Molyneux, head of Microsoft's Lionhead studio, has nominated Sony's LittleBigPlanet as the most important creative innovation of 2008, in C&binet's review of the creative economy in 2008.
C&binet – the Creative and Business International Network – is a forum for business and creative leaders to come together, and includes Microsoft's J Allard, Channel 4's Andy Duncan and Spencer Hyman of Last.fm among its ambassadors.
"LittleBigPlanet has outstanding creative vision. It’s from a British start-up studio and is one of the defining titles on Japan's Sony PS3," said Molyneux.
The title was developed by Media Molecule, a team established by former Lionhead staff, and released in November last year. Sony recently announced LittleBigPlanet has sold 1.3 million units since release.

How soon? Not sure, but the first batch the episode with Edie is coming “soon”. The first downloadble episode came out in Japan four months after the game released. If Sega sticks to the same schedule we’re talking February/March-ish “soon”.
This message was tucked away in a Sega Blog post where they also announced a Valkyria Chronicles Cosplay at NYC Comic Con. If you dress up as one of Gallia’s finest or a member of the Imperial Alliance and show up at Sega’s booth you’ll get a limited edition Valkyria Chronicles art book. Sega plans to hold books for Friday and Saturday, but it’s still first come first serve. As of now Sega looks to have the strongest gaming presence at the event with games like MadWorld, the Conduit, Sonic and the Black Knight, and House of the Dead: Overkill on display.

Sony has stuffed the PlayStation Store with new content but there is still no sign of Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix.
The highlights this week are demos for Dead Space - focusing on the key game theme of dismemberment - and Skate 2. You can expect our thoughts on the latter next week. It's out on 23rd January.
Magic Ball is the premium game on offer for GBP 7.99 / EUR 9.99. It's a Breakout-style affair where balls topple 3D buildings during physics-based mayhem. Power-ups like lasers and cannons add spice, and you'll find plenty more information on the US PlayStation blog.
WWE SmackDown vs. RAW gains wrestlers Evan Bourne, Ted DiBiase, Super Crazy and Charlie Haas for GBP 3.19. There are masked versions of Kane thrown in, plus Kelly Kelly and Maria in Mrs. Claus outfits, and different clothes for Chris Jericho, MVP, Edge and Rey Mysterio.
Elsewhere, Shaun White Snowboarding expands with two premium packs and a freebie. The two GBP 3.99 additions are The Mile High Pack - new gear and a new mountain - and The Hard Pack, which adds a massive new mountain with extra competitions and side quests. The Freebie Pack adds new clothes and boards.
Moving on, and there's a GBP 2.39 expansion pack for Brain Challenge, bolstering the original with more mini-games, multiplayer games, Creativity mode and Kid Test and Senior Test modes.
A free Savage Moon Theme is up for grabs (our review next week), and there are bundles of Guitar Hero World Tour, Rock Band and High Velocity Bowling extras.
Rock Band gets Lenny Kravitz tracks "Are You Gonna Go My Way", "Freedom Train", "Let Love Rule" and "Mr. Cab Driver" all at GBP 0.99 a piece. Roy Orbison also joins the fray with "Claudette", "In Dreams", "Ooby Dooby", "Oh, Pretty Woman", "Mean Woman Blues" and "You Got It". All are GBP 0.99 or you can throw down GBP 4.99 for a bundle.
Guitar Hero World Tour, meanwhile, gets singles "Low (Travis Barker Remix) [Feat. T-Pain]" by Flo Rida, "What's My Age Again" by Blink-182, and "Lycanthrope" by +44. Each costs GBP 1.59 or GBP 4.39 as a pack.
Finally, High Velocity Bowling gets new characters, costumes, balls and trick shots. Each separate piece costs GBP 0.79. And we're not listing them.

Sony is letting you have LocoRoco2 for a song. In brand new video game terms, that's $19.99 USD or, in SCEA pricing terms "the cost of just two movie tickets."
Following a PSP pricing strategy similar to the one SCEA used with the original Patapon, the sub-twenty dollar scheme may simply be a "please, please, please don't pirate this game." LocoRoco 2 lands in the United States and maybe even Canada on February 10 at that low, low price. Luke loved it, maybe you will too.
If you need any further incentives to pick up the game, Sony's also giving away demo vouchers at select retailers if you pre-order. What else can these people possibly do to get you to love them, already?

Sony promised (cross their hearts!) that in 2009, they'd deliver more PSP and PS1 games to the PSN. This week, they begin delivering on that promise with a PSP game.
That game is Ultimate Ghosts ‘n Goblins, which will be made available for download tomorrow for $20. Great game, convenient method of purchasing, people will be happy.
But, uh, Sony, we were kinda hoping for some of those PS1 games. Maybe next week! Maybe WipeOut 2097? Bundle it with WipeOut HD, sell it as a bundle, make a few million off it, in that order.

The PlayStation 3 was released in North America in November 2006. That's over two years ago. So we're well out of the "early adopter" phase, right? Not according to Sony we're not!
In an interview with Gamasutra, Sony's John Koller has said:
The PSP, from a handheld perspective, it's more of a 13-17 year old [demographic], multi-ethnic, a bit lower-income as well. The PS3 is still in its early adopter phase, tech-oriented consumer... they're interested in the multi-functionality of the system.
Alternate headline: Sony says PSP for "Ghetto Kids".

Konami proudly announces that the HD remake of the beloved 1996 arcade racer GTi Club will be available today for purchase on the PlayStation Network in the form of GTi Club+.
GTi Club+ is a nifty little arcade-style racer that sees you and your opponents making your way through the tight city streets and winding mountain roads of France's Ville De Circo in those little tiny cars the Europeans are so fond of. Players can explore the city in their Volkswagen Golf or Mini Cooper, participate in races, or play hot potato with explosives, which we really don't recommend trying at home.
This is one I've been waiting for since they announced it back at the Games Convention at Leipzig. I am eagerly refreshing the PSN as we speak. In the meantime, check out some new screens below, featuring tiny-cars getting far more air than they should.

When Sony rattled off at last week's CES that 17 million PlayStation Network accounts had been registered, we were at once both impressed and skeptical. That number happens to match Xbox Live's data that was released days prior, despite its one-year lead and more aggressive push in the field.
The Doubting Thomases over at MTV Multiplayer got in touch with Sony to clarify the figure and gain some more perspective on the issue. As it turns out, that number includes people who have created accounts via PS3, PSP or the official website, which requires a PSN ID to access the forums. While still impressive, we're happier to have some more context on this one.

If you want to have an idea of what Sony is planning for their next iteration of the PSP, this recent consumer survey might be a good place to start.
The questionnaire asks the public if they're interested in features like Bluetooth, integrated storage, GPS, TV tuning, better file connectivity with the PS3, a touchscreen, improved battery life and speedier load times. Is there any way to just circle all of the above?
It would seem that Sony, able to do all of these things with the PSP, would like to select only those options that will prove the most enticing to companies and profitable for the company. Fair enough, but with every lame PSP update that's made, I think we all get a little less excited about the platform. Oh, and games, Sony. We want games.

After the mud throwing from the Dark ALex crew, now Miriam responds:
I'm not going to classify Dark_AleX as a liar as none of you will believe me, so I will try to explain a scenario that could have been a reason for this false accusation. I guess I have some explaining to do after Alek was so nice (cough) to call me by my old nickname, making space for an even larger amount of flaming. I'm not going to deny that I am _HellDashX_, but I am going to deny the fact that this was all based around a lie. _HellDashX_ was the nickname of me (Miriam) and my partner Alex (unrelated to Dax), we worked together on several projects including the reverse engineering of the custom firmware. After we reversed several modules we decided to release 3.72 HX with great pleasure, which got flamed almost straight away due to the fact the modules were hex-edited. They were, but for those smart people out there, exactly how did we figured out what patches to modify if we didn't know how the modules worked? Back then we already had vshctrl and popcorn reversed. In 3.73 HX this was followed by a reverse of the IPL and several other modules, but the flame fest continued. After a while, we managed to get in contact with Mathieulh and Dark_AleX over MSN, due to the fact they were claiming we hex-edited another project. After they were proved wrong, we gained a level of trust from Dax over the months. After a while he allowed us to release a new custom firmware (we had already completely reversed the custom firmware at this time, every single module and the IPL), but I didn't want to disclose my nickname again as people started to stereotype it, so I released it with one of our names, Miriam. I exist, I'm not artificial, and I have nothing to hide.
Now that that's covered, lets go on with the exploit. I realise few people will believe me, I don't care, but I'll tell my story anyways. A few days ago I found a vulnerability in the kernel, and after several converstations with Dark_AleX about it on MSN, he told me he used the same exploit. I told him I was implementing a private HEN but couldn't get some things working, and asked for advice. After receiving some I still didn't manage to get it working, but a friend of me came up with another solution which turned out to work fine. After a while I received the source code of his own exploit over MSN, at this point the HEN was already 95% functional, all based on my own code. Dark_AleX asked me not to disclose this kernel exploit, but to look for another one, which I respected and thus decided not to release the current HEN to public.
However, under the pressure of several people I allowed MaGiXieN to make a video of the HEN in action, but not disclose any details. Which is exactly what happened. Nobody else but MaGiXieN and me have access to this homebrew-enabler, and I'm the only one who knows how the internals work. I would've appreciated it if Dark_AleX at the very least would've mentioned anything about this on MSN, so we could've worked it out. There was absolutely no reason to jump out in the open, unveil my identity and make false assumptions without even trading a word.
I was tracking down the firmware for a new kernel exploit, but I guess I'm not going to worry about that anymore. I don't need this e-drama, I have a real life and friends and family I care about, and I leave this post with one final message, "GOODBYE".
Heres some more fuel for the fire:
About the Alek post in yesterday Magixien BEFORE RELEASE THE VIDEO, ask Alek if he will can release the video...and it is the alek answer:
"<MaGiXieN> HEN mode
<Alek> cool
<MaGiXieN> with ISO and kernel mode ok
<Alek> ok
<Alek> all fine then, neither dark-alex.org or sceners.org will talk about it, at least officially
<Alek> your merit, your work
<MaGiXieN>
<MaGiXieN> You can news it
<Alek> will think about it when i finish the maintenance that i'm on at the moment"
So, as you can SEE Alek knows about the VIDEO YESTERDAY AND SAID YES TO PUBLISH IT!
Alek lie, as always...I NEVER broke my oath to PSPGEN, M33 AND ALEX.
I NEVER SEARCH FOR THE FAME, I ONLY WANTS THE PEOPLE CAN ENJOY ANOTHER FIRMWARES!
hmm ive no opinion on the whole saga but what do the DCEmu public think?

About teaching an old dog new tricks: the new version of intraFont supports scrolling text - just like in the XMB, when there's not enough space to display a whole line at once. There are four different scrolling styles: left, seesaw (back&forth), right and through (sweep from right to left).

via Computer and Video Games
It'll disappoint PS3 fans and give Xbox fanboys ammo for months to come, but Killzone 2 game director Mathijs de Jonge has finally admitted there are no plans to add a co-op mode to the flagship shooter.
De Jonge was cagey over the matter when we asked him back in August. "Co-op we're not talking about at the moment," he said, which seemed to hint that it'll be included, but he just doesn't want to disclose facts.
Other rumours strongly suggested a post-release patch, but as De Jonge has now confirmed, there's no chance of that either.
"Currently there are no plans for co-op in Killzone 2," he admitted.
"Technically it would be quite difficult to implement it for the story mode as for example the mission sections are loaded in seamlessly - no loading screens - and that would cause issues with teleporting players. Even without co-op it's still a big game and gamers will have plenty to sink their teeth into," he told PSU.
On the PS Blog, Sony's Jeff Rubenstein also confirmed: "There is no collector's edition slated for Killzone 2."
He added: "Guerrilla Games has put all of their effort into creating this masterpiece of a game, so we didn't actively pursue a CE."
Don't let the double serving of disappointment get you down though - you're in for a treat and we'll be telling you all about it in our full review once the embargo shackles come off.
