If your PlayStation 4 is behaving badly after this week's 2.0 update, Reddit user Nestledrink has a potential fix that may get your ailing console back up and running.
The fix is for users who are unable to wake their PlayStation 4s up from Rest Mode. You'll see your console constantly blinking an orange light if you're affected, and your system will be unresponsive if you attempt to power it on or press the PS button on a DualShock 4 controller.
If this is the case, Nestledrink recommends powering down the console by pressing the power button for seven seconds, then engaging Safe Mode by holding the power button for another seven seconds afterward. From there, you can select the third option on the screen that appears in order to reinstall the latest firmware update, which should hopefully fix the problem.
While the method isn't guaranteed to fix all PlayStation 4 issues, one Joystiq staffer was able to resuscitate their console by following the steps above, and confirms that their PS4 is now back in action. If your PS4 is still unresponsive, try contacting Sony support for further assistance.

Sony reveals current subscription service numbers, plans to bring PlayStation to Chinese market next year
Sony
In the past, Sony has been cagey about just how many PlayStation Plus subscribers it has. But in a post-earnings conference call with overseas investors today, Sony executives confirmed that the PS Plus service has reached 7.9 million members.
It's unclear exactly how many of those subscribers are PlayStation 4 owners, but earlier this year Sony CEO Kaz Hirai said approximately half of the new console's owners had signed up. The PS Plus service is required for online multiplayer in most PS4 games (free-to-play titles being one exception), but also gives users access to an assortment of free downloadable games, discounts, and cloud storage for game saves. PlayStation 3, PlayStation TV, and/or PlayStation Vita owners can get those same perks, with the exception of online multiplayer, which is already free on those platforms.
Elsewhere in the call, Sony's representatives referenced the Game and Network Service division's strong performance for the recent quarter, saying the launches of FIFA 15 and Destiny helped build momentum that they hope to carry into the holiday season. They also discussed plans to entire the Chinese market, saying they are "seriously evaluating the game business" there, and plan to enter the market early next year. While they acknowledged Microsoft has already launched Xbox One in the country, Sony is taking a "cautious, step-by-step" approach in light of China's powerful regulatory agencies.

Take-Two delays testing as players report problems with latest Sony platform update
Sony
Sony launched the 2.0 version of the PlayStation 4 firmware earlier this week, but the system update has not gone smoothly. As reported by GameSpot, some users have complained that after the update has been applied, the system loses the ability to wake up from standby mode. Additionally, the YouTube video sharing functionality seems to be broken.
Adding insult to injury for PS4 players, Take-Two today announced that it has postponed the alpha test for its upcoming online team-based game, Evolve. "[We are experiencing difficulties with the Evolve Big Alpha on PlayStation 4," the publisher said on the game's official site. The PC and Xbox One alpha testing periods for the game launched today, as expected.
A Sony representative had not responded to a request for comment as of press time.
The PS4 2.0 firmware was released on Tuesday, and added a variety of features to the system. Among the added functionality was Share Play, which let players join their friends' games for co-op play even if they don't own the title in question. (It also lets players virtually hand their controller over to a friend online, letting them play through tricky parts of a game in their stead.) The update also allows for players to use the Share button on the controller to upload video to YouTube, play music tracks off a USB memory stick, and more.

If you're rooting for Sony to pull through recent tough times, it's still a cliffhanger, according to its latest earnings report. On the plus side, PS4 sales have been stellar, up 83 percent over last year at 310 billion yen ($2.8 billion). The good news drops off sharply from there, however, especially with mobile. Though sales in that division were up slightly from last year, it managed to lose 172 billion yen ($1.5 billion). Since most of Sony's other divisions fared okay, that means its 86 billion yen ($770 million) operating loss can be directly chalked up to its mobile division. Though it warned investors that smartphone sales would be dismal, Sony decided nevertheless decided to fire its mobile division's CEO, Kunimasa Suzuki, and replace him with VP Hiroki Totoki.
Update: Additional figures from Sony have shown us just how well the PlayStation 4 is doing: the company says it's sold 3.3 million over the past quarter. For contrast, Microsoft announced combined Xbox 360 and Xbox One shipments of 2.4 million in its latest financial results.

November brings PS4 owners a final tide of big 2014 releases like Assassin't Creed Unity and Little Big Planet 3, but it also brings PS Plus subscribers some slick downloadables like the long-percolating Binding of Isaac: Rebirth.
Sitting alongside Isaac on PS4 is Image & Form's SteamWorld Dig: A Fistful of Dirt. While you spend an inordinate amount of time underground in both games, Isaachas you exploring adorably grotesque, randomly-generated dungeons whileSteamWorld has you digging through an interconnected, sprawling cave system under an Old West town.
PlayStation 3 owners get a hearty selection of games as well. Luftrausers, Vlambeer's minimalist dogfighting escapade, joins strategy shooter Frozen Synapse Prime on Sony's elder statesman console. PS Vita owners can pick up The Hungry Horde as well as the tricky, creepy launch game Escape Plan. Lucky for them, Luftrausers, Rebirth, and SteamWorld are all Cross Buy on the platform as well. Vita owners with PS Plus are going to have a busy Thanksgiving.

To coincide with the significant PS4 firmware update 2.0 released today, PS Vita and PS TV have also received new system firmware.
Available now, the Vita update version 3.35 adds four-player Remote Play functionality to the PS TV micro-console, finally enabling multiplayer options for play over a remote connection to PS4.
It also adds the Live from PlayStation app, allowing you to watch live streams of PS4 games on your Vita and PS TV.
Completing a trio of updates, Sony has also released version 2.0 of the mobile PlayStation App for smart devices. The update includes a completely redesigned home screen and a new layout for tablet devices.
Earlier in October Sony added the ability to apply themes to the Vita's home menu with Vita system firmware update 3.30.
This comes after the release of the release of PS4 firmware update 2.0, which adds significant new features including Share Play, YouTube uploads, improved live streaming options, home menu themes and more.

The PlayStation 4's latest update, codenamed "Masamune," adds a major feature,Share Play, to the console today. PlayStation Plus members can now share their games over PSN with friends that don't own a copy (and aren't necessarily PS Plus subscribers themselves unless both are playing), hosting one-hour play sessions at a time. As a Sony rep confirmed to Video Gamer, Share Play sessions are capped at 720p and will "have a limited frame rate" for friends partaking in the action, while those hosting the game will still see 1080p games on their screens at the full resolution.
SCEE product planning manager Kazuhiro Yanase said that while Share Play "doesn't require any super-fast broadband," the company won't disclose recommended upload and download speeds for those looking to share games sessions with friends over PSN. "The internet environment is really different user by user. For example, some users will be using a LAN cable, some users will be using Wi-Fi, sometimes you use the microwave in your house," Yanase told Video Gamer. "It's very difficult for us to guarantee you can use Share Play if you have [a certain] speed."
Today's update also adds the ability to play music from a USB device with support for MP3 and AAC file types. The Masamune update introduces YouTube as an option for gameplay clip uploading as well as home screen themes. We've reached out to Sony to confirm the Share Play restrictions and will update as we learn more.

Though today's PlayStation 4 system update brings with it a host of new features - most notably Share Play functionality - the new software has also been causing problems for a number of users.
As Videogamer points out, numerous reports of issues stemming from the 2.0 update have appeared across the spectrum of social media. On NeoGAF, PlayStation 4 owners are reporting problems ranging from odd volume fluctuations to issues connecting to YouTube to an inability to play previously purchased games. Responses to Sony Europe's PlayStation.blog announcement include players unable to sign in to the PlayStation Network following the update.
Despite these reports, these issues seem to affect a relatively small number of PlayStation 4 owners, though our own Alexander Sliwinski is one of them. We've attempted to reach Sony for more information on these update issues and its plans to fix them, but have yet to receive a response. If you're having an issue with your PS4 post-update, let us know in the comments.

Own a PlayStation 4? Today's your day: the console's big 2.0 update is finally live. Sony's been teasing the update for weeks, lauding the console's new ability to play music from a USB drive, the availability of system menu themes and promising new voice commands, party options and a less crowded home-screen. The update also gives the console's unique "share" button a little more power: the ability to upload video clips directly to YouTube and, most notably, remotely stream your games to a friend over the internet. Sony invited me to try some of these features ahead of today's launch and, yes, they all seem to work just fine -- at least in a controlled environment.

Since 4.xx Firmware 3.56 and probably since, Sony Protected execution of QA Flag in ecdsa and could no longer be accessed from GameOS (impossible to write the token).
Habib wanted to understand why it was easy, since Linux and VUART orders, write the Token but not since GameOS and he succeeded. He now presents his ToolBox update 1.02.01. new / fixed: - Dump the Lv1 - Lv2 from the Exchange "usb000" or "dev_flash" - Activation of Qa Flag The archive contains the ToolBox for Firmware 4.65 and 'standalone application for 4.21 and higher as well as the source code of this little world. The developer Codelion (aka @ BBalling1), one of the people behind the feat Webkit Vita release a tool for devs who want to play with the fault.
memtools_vita allows Dump the contents of the modules used by Webkit process, but for this special server CodeLion is required. Provides the readme explains how to do this (in English of course). However, at present, one of the known issues and that this tool does not allow Dump the executable code [data] section only. The ADA software for example do not like it, but it would be sufficient for further investigation and it seems, according to the readme, this section is still possible to dump. A Python now your servers. memtools_vita

Nas and the developers have managed to bring proxima feat Vita Webkit on Ps4 and even with the latest Firmware, 1.76.
According proxima, the exploit is the same as the Vita, but it has been developed in parallel, it is not based on. Their POC code provides some examples, including a dumper and a few tools to create more ROP codes. However like on Vita at the moment, this feat is not very useful for the end user to see what will ensue, but this is the first exploit on Ps4. sephirothff Thanks for the information.
