If you were looking forward to watching Biography: Lindsay Lohan or an episode of Dorm Life on Hulu today via your PlayStation 3, it looks like you're screwed. Although PS3 owners have been able to access the free video site for quite some time, clicking on videos through the web browser on Sony's system now brings up a screen that reads "Unfortunately, this video is not available on your platform. We apologize for any inconvenience."
It's unclear why things have suddenly changed, and messages with Sony and Hulu were not immediately returned. We'll update this article as soon as someone gets back to IGN with a comment.

By now, you're probably familiar with the ambitious, multiplayer puzzle-platformer, Trine. Shacknews is reporting that the upcoming PC version of the game will have an "official" price of $40, with Steam pre-orders available for a discounted $30. (Check out a downloadable demo at BigDownload.) Those who want to experience Trine in the most affordable way possible will want to download the PSN version of the game, priced at $20.
Obviously, that's a rather high price point for a downloadable game. However, developer Frozenbyte says the high production values merit the sticker tag. "Trine is far from a game created by a solo hero developer (we have over 20 employees and Trine has contributions from a double amount of people) ... we are very confident that we can deliver a full retail experience with Trine."
Our early impressions of the game suggest Frozenbyte is right. We'd much rather buy this than, say, the equally priced Watchmen: The End is Nigh. While an official PSN date isn't set, the publisher is expecting a July release. An Xbox 360 version of the game, which will support online co-op (a feature not included in the initial PC or PSN releases), is also in the works.

We respect the fact that Gran Turismo 5 will have a billion cars, each made with a trillion polygons and all that. Great. But when will we get to play the damn game? The producer, Kazunori Yamauchi will tell us "soon", apparently.
The game is expected out next year, but exactly when is anyone's guess. When quizzed recently on the game's release, Yamauchi said: "We made the announcement today that [the handheld game player PSP GO] is coming out Oct. 1 [with Gran Turismo 5 on it]. We will give the release date of the Gran Turismo 5 soon."
We think he meant that PSP Go will be out on October 1 with Gran Turismo PSP on it, which looks swell, by the way.
Fingers crossed the PS3 game will get an early 2010 release.

From the day of the PS3's launch, Sony have pursued a bold strategy of constantly launching new, original IP as exclusive titles on the console. But while it's a move that should be applauded on principle, it's just not translating into sales.
Number-cruncher Matt Matthews has, in a report over on GameSetWatch, detailed the sales performance of Sony's new, exclusive titles, revealing a lineup of games that are two-headed beasts: somehow managing to consistently find critical success while being, relative to their exposure and advertising backing, commercial flops.
Excluding games sold as part of hardware bundles, for example, only a single game published by Sony on the PS3 has sold over a million copies at retail, and that's the original Resistance. LittleBigPlanet is close to this figure, but many other high-profile releases - such as Killzone 2, Resistance 2 and Uncharted - are not.
The numbers look even worse compared to sales for exclusive titles on other platforms. Gears of War sold a million units in a month on the 360. Gears 2 sold 1.5 million in the same amount of time. Smash Bros has sold over 4 million units on the Wii, and Mario Kart over six million.
So what gives? Matthews raises the possibility that Sony put too much faith in new stuff. Rather than having Insomniac and Naughty Dog release Ratchet & Clank and Jak & Daxter games, which would have sold, Sony let them first release all-new titles, Resistance and Uncharted, neither of which have so far matched the sales or pulling power of their better-known PS2 platformers
We're also only seeing proper releases in Sony's two biggest series - God of War and Gran Turismo - now. Well, not even now. 2009, 2010. Three, four years after the console was first released. They should perform better than any of the above titles, but you have to wonder whether it has been wise of Sony to release nothing but original titles to date (Killzone aside), when a God of War or two by now may have spurred sales of both PS3 hardware and software.

Vocaloid character Hatsune Miku, is coming to the PSP with Hatsune Miku -Project Diva-. So are her underpants! SEGA has been playing up the "3D modeling" of the Miku character. This is perhaps why?
Then again, maybe these are just her bathing suit — totally innocent. Still, a slew of new screenshots makes some wonder if -Project Diva- is a misnomer of sorts.
The rhythm game will be released on Japanese PSPs early next month. Many will buy it for all the wrong reasons.

Last week NIS America announced Holy Invasion of Privacy Badman would only be released as a PlayStation Network download. All the way on the other end of the spectrum, Disgaea 3: The Raspberyl Chapters is educating retailers.
An official looking product page at Amazon Japan shows the downloadable Disgaea 3: Raspberyl Chapters episodes repackaged on a disc. Since the expansion pack has not been properly announced by Nippon Ichi Software it’s unclear if the disc includes anything more like unique cameo characters.
A warning sticker on the bottom says this is an append disc and it requires a copy of Disgaea 3, either the original disc or the PlayStation 3 the Best re-release, to work. According to the retail listing, Disgaea fans in Japan can pick this up on September 17 for 2,625 yen ($28). The Raspberyl Chapters will be around nine months old then.

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe boss Andrew House says PSP Go's $249/€249 price point is based on a "premium" associated with new hardware.
Speaking to MCV, House explained that PSP Go's price wasn't set in a bid to protect retailers' margins - which will be hit by the handheld's download-only software model - or to cover Sony's research and development costs.
"Those aren't the factors," he said. "When you introduce a new piece of hardware you have the opportunity to say there is a certain premium that is associated with it, and we took that into account.
"As with all hardware launches you look at the business model, the cost structure, and the necessarily level of profitability, and you use that to set the wholesale price. Much as we do with any other hardware."
PSP Go has yet to be officially priced for the UK market, but multiple indie retailers told us earlier this week that they were downbeat about the recently announced system's prospects.
Chips MD Don McCabe told us that he isn't currently planning on stocking PSP Go upon its October 1 release, while Grainger Games purchasing director Chris Harwood said that PSP "appears to have died as a format."

The 'Moogle Kupo d'Etat - Evil in Small Doses' expansion for Final Fantasy XI will go on pre-sale from July 5, Square Enix has confirmed.
"Slated to launch at the end of July following the next Final Fantasy XI version update, players whose in-game character's main job level is at least 10 can begin to enjoy this new content," explains Square.
"Introducing a brand-new story arc, this new scenario requires the installation of Rise Of The Zilart, the first expansion pack in the Final Fantasy XI series."
You'll be able to buy the expansion via the PlayOnline Viewer for £7.99 in the UK, or €9.99 in the rest of Europe. Below are some screenshots of the expansion for your viewing pleasure.

Kunimasa Suzuki has been named as new deputy president of SCEI, a role in which he will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the company's PlayStation business.
Suzuki has been with Sony since 1984 where he worked originally in the company's overseas marketing division. In more recent years, he served as general manager of Sony's VAIO business and EVP of Sony Electronics in the United States.
His new role will see him report to Kazuo Hirai, president and group CEO and EVP and president of the Networked Products and Service Group (NPSG) and take responsibility for the areas of strategy and product planning. The role is in addition to his current one as SVP and deputy president of NPSG and is effective from July 1.
"Suzuki combines strong leadership qualities with a profound knowledge of network business and strategy that he has accumulated over many years working in the area of consumer products, such as VAIO," Sony said. "Together with Hirai, he will now spearhead the PlayStation business, where the network will now play an even greater role in expanding the business going forward."
"I'm extremely excited to join the PlayStation team," Kunimasa Suzuki said of his new role. "I'm determined to maximise my contribution to accelerating the expansion of the PlayStation business, one of Sony's core categories, and at the same time play an active role in linking the consumer electronics and PlayStation teams to strategically fuse both businesses and create new and truly unique Sony user experiences."

Price drops weren't on the lips of any of the big three at this year's E3, but rumours persist that a PlayStation 3 price reduction is imminent, to be closely followed by a similar move by Microsoft.
A drop in the price of the PS3 is due this autumn, according to a source speaking to Ars Technica, predicting that once current stock of the 80GB hardware has sold through, the 160GB hard drive model will become prevalent.
Sony will then drop the price of the console towards the end of the year and launch a new PS3 Slim at around the same time. How big that price drop will be remains to be seen, but the company will no doubt hope consumers will react favourably to any step to narrow the price difference between it and the Xbox 360 Elite system.
As for Microsoft's strategy for 2009 - it could be set to do away with the 60GB Xbox 360 Pro entirely in favour for the Elite system.
With the company's shift to sell full retail games through Xbox Live and also films and other content via Zune video, a bigger hard drive as standard would be logical.
The source concluded some solid bundles will help shift remaining stock of the Pro Xbox 360, with a price cut in early September aiding sales of the 120GB version, then a further new bundle will hit retail around October.

Capcom's released new videos and screenshots of its XBLA and PSN fighter, Marvel vs. Capcom 2.
The download version was rumoured to be hitting the console online services today, but Capcom's since piped in to tell fans that it'll be releasing closer to "the end of July".
Two of the videos demonstrate how to be wicked using Wolverine and Ryu, and then the third naturally has them kicking the snot out of each other. Enjoy.

End of an era for Sony's homebrew community
After 12 years, Sony’s Net Yaroze Programme has come to an end.
Started in March 1997, the PlayStation project was designed with the goal of making modern console development accessible to non-professionals.
For many, it offered a unique opportunity to learn about developing for the most popular console at the time – indeed, many of the original members used their experiences with the service as a stepping stone to entering the industry.
Subscribers received special devkits and access to an online message board and community site.
But after a dozen years service, the ageing Netyaroze-Europe server is at the end of its life, and SCEE are planning to turn it off in July, the company tells us.
“We plan to make a copy of the site available for our original members,” explained SCEE R&D’s Paul Holman.
He also said that a drinks party to celebrate the programme’s achievements for its original members will be held at either Develop in Brighton or SCEE’s London office.
More can be read about Net Yaroze at its official websites.

According to the Japanese business newspaper Nikkei, Sony is to begin working on a potential new hybrid of gaming device and phone that is designed to rival the iPhone's success.
As reported by Reuters, the Japanese electronics firm is believed to be readying a development team who will begin work on the device in July. Despite establishing the portable gadget market with the success of the Walkman, since the iPod and iPhone's releases Sony has struggled to hold pace in the sector.
The device will apparently combine gaming abilities with the functions of the Sony Ericsson phones, which means the Swedish mobile company will be involved.
Little else is known about the hybrid, but CasualGaming.biz will bring you more information as soon as it becomes available.
