GEFA , Italian developer , releases through the forum to PSP - ENG amateur an interesting development on the PSP .
Has led to a port of Chipmunk Physics for PSP, a free C + + library for managing two-dimensional collisions .
The importance of physics in modern games is radical , given its potential to create the so-called " emergent gameplay " , no longer exclusive sandbox games, but also of important commercial games.
The archive is completed and a demo with sources , to become familiar with the library and to start to make collision objects.
The full download news & more.
Release Notes :
Quote:
I carried the latest version of the PSP physics library Chipmunk ( http://code.google.com/p/chipmunk-physics/ ) .
I also implemented the form cpMouse Tommy Thorsen .
Inside there is also a small demo written by me ( Chipmunk 5.3.1 for PSP \ Demo NDzero ) already completed , working on both fat and on slim . To handle the graphics I have chosen to use the mod oslib of Sakya .
Attention to one small detail: chipmunk understands the position of the axes unlike oslib . chipmunk In fact, the first point at the top left appears to have coordinates (0, 272), in contrast oslib , where he coordinates instead of (0.0) . Under development , so when you call a chipmunk function properly you must convert the coordinates are used , and changed back when you switch to oslib , as is clearly seen in the demo .

MSNBC spoke with the senior producer of a new stereoscopic 3D game called Killzone 3 and highlighted problems they are trying to solve with being one of the first FPS 3D games for the PS3. The team ran into serious design problems, like where to put the crosshairs for the players (do they constantly hover in front of your vision?) and what to do with any of the heads-up display components. Aside from the obvious marketing thrown in at the end of the article (in a very familiar way), there is an interesting point raised concerning normalized conventions in all video games and how one ports that to the new stereoscopic 3D model — the same way directors continue to grapple with getting 3D right. Will 3D games be just as gimmicky as most 3D movies? If they are, at least Guerrilla Games is at least making it possible for the player to easily and quickly switch in and out of stereoscopic 3D while playing.

Sony Computer Entertainment America has filed a lawsuit against an online distributor of the new PS3 Jailbreak modchip, which allows users to circumvent PS3's copy protection and play backed-up titles copied to the system’s hard drive.
The platform holder has accused the modchip seller, Zoomba LDC, of copyright infringement, violations of the digital millennium copyright act and trademark infringement, Kotaku reports.
Sony previously succeeded in getting a temporary injunction blocking the sale of PSJailbreak in Australia.

The winners of the childhood obesity infographic design contest sponsored by GOOD and First Lady Michelle Obama's Let's Move! initiative are in, and the overall winner calls out Sony's PlayStation as a major milestone on its timeline of childhood obesity (together with Coke, Pepsi, mall food courts, fructose and high sugar tariffs, TV, McDonald's, and other fast food). Somewhat ironically, the First Lady's other anti-childhood obesity efforts include a $60,000 video game contest.

Can't find a shop that carries Teensy's, AT980USB's or Blackcat USB JTAG's to load PSGroove but own a Nokia N900? Someone has ported PSGroove to Nokia N900.
Hi everyone,
As promised, here’s an update on my implementation of the PSJailbreak exploit : IT WORKS!
I made a video to show you, but I suck at making videos, so we can’t really see what’s going… I’ll do a better one tomorrow.
It’s 9:30 AM here, and I really need to go to sleep, I’ll post more about this tomorrow, and I’ll release the code tomorrow for everyone to enjoy, compile, contribute, read, laugh at, etc…
So here’s the binary release of PSFreedom (thanks to xnt14 for the name) : PSFreedom driver
I would like to thank 3 people in particular who helped me, encouraged me and helped debug with me : NTAuth, philhug and phire (a.k.a phiren) from EFNet.
So here’s how it works.. download the .tar.gz, extract it, copy the files to your n900 (with scp, into /root), then ssh into your N900 and type : ./psfreedom-enable.sh
Then you can follow the usual procedure, unplug the PS3 from power, plug in the N900, connect the power to the PS3, then press power and *quickly* press the eject button… Then just let the magic happen!
Once you’re done or want to revert back to the normal operation mode of the N900 (or to charge it) run the command ./psfreedom-disable.sh
In the future, we’ll have a nice package to install, a GUI application, I’ll make use of the LEDs to show you the status of what it’s doing, and i’ll have it auto-revert to mass storage mode, so you can use your N900 not only to enable homebrew but also to store your homebrew!
See you tomorrow! Good night!

Sony Computer Entertainment America has filed suit against an online stockist of the notorious PSJailbreak device.
Shoppsjailbreak.com, owned by one Zoomba LDC, is one of two distributors endorsed by the makers of the anti-copy protection device.
Sony has accused it of copyright violation, contravening the DMCA and trademark infringement, amongst other charges.
The suit was filed in the California Northern District Court two days ago, and seeks an injunction against sale of the USB dongle, plus damages.
Sony is also currently pursuing an injunction against sale of the device in Australia.
Update
A ruling by an Australian court appears to indicate that Sony has won its case to have the PS JailBreak removed from stores and resellers across the country.
OzModChips, ModSupplier, and Quantronics have all already removed the product from their websites, and official court documents show that retailers have been ordered to surrender all profits from the sales of JailBreak to Sony, as well compensating them for the inconvenience caused.
Perhaps even more damningly, The Federal Court of Australia has issued a permanent injunction which rules that the device cannot be sold or imported into the country until further notice. JailBreak is named specifically as a product in the injunction, meaning that other products with the same functionality are not covered

DaedalusX64 is the best Nintendo 64 Emulator available exclusively for the PSP. To eliminate some frequently asked questions: No, the Emulator is not perfect, so any graphical bugs, or speed issues are considered normal. Yes, the audio does not always play full speed, often crackles, and can cause the Emulator to crash. The latest compiled rev of DaedalusX64 can be found below, and I will try my best to upload the latest rev when I'm aware of it's commit. Thank you DaedalusX64 Team, and keep up the hard work.
What's changed in this revision:

modrobert writes: "Phire with the help of others over at lan.st has written an interesting analysis (mirror) of how the PSJailbreak exploit works. Here's a not so random quote from the post: 'The initial analysis by gamefreax.de suggested that it was a Stack overflow attack. After further analysis it turns out that this exploit is a Heap Overflow attack. The exploit carefully manipulates the heap by plugging and unplugging fake usb devices with large device descriptors until the device on port 4 which misreports its size to overwrite one of malloc's boundary tags.'"

Have you ever wished you could turn the act of reading a comic book into a more social experience, but without all the reading over your shoulder and creepy breathing down the back your shirt? Sony might be making moves to bring your dream to fruition. PS3 enthusiast site Addicted to PlayStation reported receiving a survey inquiring whether they would be interested in seeing the Digital Comics service, which launched last November on the PSP, migrate to the PS3 (or other devices) sometime in the future.
If Sony really is planning on bringing comics to the big screen, we're torn on whether or not that would be a good thing. On one hand, part of the joy of comics is burying your face in the pages -- an experience you couldn't really replicate on a TV. On the other, we could finally use this as a chance to show our friends what incredibly expedient readers we are. "Oh, you're still on panel four? We're on panel nine. What's up?"

Stuck with an ODD-less netbook or laptop, but can't quite shake the urge to watch a Blu-ray Disc on your next flight? If you call Japan home (or you know a good importer), Buffalo has just the solution. The BP3D-PI6U2-BK measures 137- Ă— 147- Ă— 20mm, and the operation is pretty simple. Just wrangle an XP / Vista / Windows 7-equipped PC, locate an open USB socket, blow out the dust (optional, but highly recommended) and plug this guy in. Best of all, the unit also supports the boatload of 3D Blu-ray titles that are bound to show up over the coming months, but the privileged of being prepared doesn't come cheap -- it'll land later this month for ÂĄ28,500 ($338).

Late last week an Australian court issued an injunction against a handful of retailers selling or importing hardware — commonly known as 'mod chips' — that allows unauthorized software to run on Sony's PlayStation 3. The court also required that the four parties that were the subject of the injunction actually hand over to Sony any PlayStation modchips they have. Sony's PlayStation 3 mod chip lawsuit could be just the first of many such cases in Australia, according to a lawyer who defended a client against Nintendo in a similar case earlier this year.
