Those who have been holding back and wishing a PSGroove/PSFreedom was ported to that they can still keep OtherOS can stop wishing. KaKaRoto has ported PSFreedom over to 3.01 firmware on the PS3.
Hi,
I’ve got some great news for those of you who have not updated your PS3 firmware! I have just succeeded in adding Firmware 3.01 support into PSFreedom. I’ve pushed the latest code to github and you can now download the source and compile PSFreedom for 3.01.
For now, you will need to edit config.h and change the FIRMWARE_3_41 into FIRMWARE_3_01, then recompile. However, I will soon add support for dynamically choosing the target firmware version by simply doing a :
echo 3.01 > /proc/psfreedom/fw_version
I will soon add support for firmware 3.10 and 3.15, so be patient, and you will be rewarded. I would like to thank Klutsh as well as Philippe Hub who helped me achieve this port to 3.01.
The new payload changes are available in the PL3 github and any project/port that is also using PL3 should automatically gain support for the 3.01 firmware.
You will also be able to enjoy some new ‘tools’ in PL3 that will allow you to dump the LV2 kernel as well as the decrypted ELF files of the XMB and other configuration files it uses. The ethernet dumping is also now compatible with PS3 Slim models.
I would like to thank, again, those who have donated. For the others, you can still donate, if you appreciate the work I’ve done.
Enjoy!
KaKaRoTo
*UPDATE*
Update:
Philhug and I have worked together recently to make PL3 compatible with 3.15, and it is now done, working and ready for you to use. I have just pushed the latest changes to github, so just update both PSFreedom and PL3, and define FIRMWARE_3_15 in PSFreedom’s config.h and recompile. You will then be able to enjoy your unrestricted PS3 on 3.15 firmwares. Enjoy!

DaedalusX64 is the best Nintendo 64 Emulator available exclusively for the PSP. To eliminate some frequently asked questions: No, the Emulator is not perfect, so any graphical bugs, or speed issues are considered normal. Yes, the audio does not always play full speed and can cause the Emulator to crash. The latest compiled rev of DaedalusX64 can be found below, and I will try my best to upload the latest rev when I'm aware of it's commit. Thank you DaedalusX64 Team, and keep up the hard work.
What's changed in this revision:

KaKaRoTo , to whom we owe the first port PSFreedom to N900 what triggered the avalanche of ports on other platforms , said on Blog he was currently working porting PSFreedom on other firmwares for the PS3 and more specifically the 1.3 following the acquisition of a PS3 with this version.
He said he had already made good progress in his carriage and he is already able to dump the LV2 . The rest should happen very quickly. Once the port to 1.3 is completed, KaKaRoTo indicates it will examine the implementation of it for firmware 3.10 and 3.15.

Newly released today
features•The undead are everywhere creating a dynamic and challenging zombie-killing experience for the player as weapons will be created to kill massive amounts of zombies at one time!
•A new protagonist, Chuck Greene, is just the beginning in a long list of new characters, new survivors and new more vicious psychos that will be introduced to fans in the new world of Dead Rising
•Co-op play is introduced to the Dead Rising universe for the first time as players can invite their friends to partner up with them at any time to take on the zombie massacre- tag-team style! Play with a friend and have even more fun as you lure zombies in using strategic items like a toy helicopter or a firecracker. Once the zombies have gathered, your friend can rain bullets from above or shoot at a strategically-placed gas tank to create a deadly explosion that will take out masses of the enemy. Killing zombies with a friend is always more fun!
•Allows 4 players to compete in a gladiator type show that pits zombies against a group of players in the ultimate Vs. multiplayer blood bath
•Players can combine two everyday items using duct tape to create the ultimate zombie killing creations such as the Portamower and Paddlesaw. Unlocking combo cards along the way will give players the advantage as the helpful cards will show you what items are best for combining. The more zombies you destroy using your creative combo’s, the more Prestige Points you can earn which levels up Chuck along the way
descriptionDead Rising 2 will deliver more of the signature gameplay that the series is known for plus a number of new features.
Players who might need some help or simply want to share the zombie bashing fun with a friend will now be able to play in online 2-player co-op. Simply use the in-game transceiver to call for assistance at any time and once your partner has accepted, they will arrive by your side for double the action.
With hundreds of zombies on screen at any one time, the original Dead Rising forced gamers to take everyday objects they found in the Mall and use them as weapons. But now, in Dead Rising 2 with thousands of zombies filling every square inch of Fortune City, Chuck is going to need to be even more resourceful and inventive by creating combination weapons to save the day. Players will be able to take two objects, a roll of tape and with a little inventiveness create an advanced zombie-killing combo weapon - a piece of wood and a lawnmower become Portamower, the handheld mower that cuts zombies down to size in an instant; while a garden rake and car battery combine to create an electrified zombie prod. The more combo weapons a player uses, the more Prestige Points (PPs) they will gain along the way in order to level up Chuck.

Japan is getting a blue PS3 with Gran Turismo 5 bundle and it turns out a similar bundle is headed to Europe on November 5 -- sans all of that flare. Amazon UK outed the 320 GB black PS3 bundle, which comes with the Collector's Edition of Gran Turismo 5 for a hefty £284.99 ($450). It may seem a bit too pricey, but the bundle is actually a £44.99 savings on what it would cost to purchase the console and game separately, if that's any consolation to your bank account.

A slew of well known and probably very rich developers have remembered the first PlayStation console on this, its 15th birthday.
Industry icons such as Lorne Lanning (Oddworld), David Braben (Elite, LostWinds, Kinectimals), David Perry (Gaikai, Earthworm Jim, MDK) and Guillaume de Fondaumiere (Heavy Rain, Fahrenheit) all offered GamesIndustry.biz a glimpse at what life was life back then; what it was to be a developer pitched to by the towering Phil Harrison of Sony Worldwide Studios.
"From a developer point of view, it turned a business that felt a little amateurish, into something that felt slick," recalled David Braben, now chairman of LostWinds and Kinectimals developer Frontier.
"I remember the original presentation from Phil Harrison to developers, of the new 'PSX' machine. It felt a little like unveiling of a new car. It was slick, professional, polished (with great imagery of an animated T-Rex).
"We haven't looked back since."
David Perry agreed: "It changed everything. Suddenly 3D wasn't just kind of possible (like the Genesis 32X), it was real and in every console.
"After that dinosaur demo the energy was incredible and Sony jumped in with both feet firing up all marketing cylinders. My hat also goes off to Phil Harrison who got on the road and really made sure everyone paid attention.
"Great hardware, great support, great games, it's no surprise that even 15 years later you still want to write about it."
And so we ask you, Eurogamer reader, what you were doing 15 years ago; what your favourite PlayStation games were; and what you feel the legacy of the PlayStation has been.

The PlayStation 3 is more complicated to develop on than the Xbox 360 - and it's harder to get games "running fast" as a result.
That's according to Enslaved dev Ninja Theory, which has created its new action adventure for both systems - and made PS3 exclusive Heavenly Sword.
"We have found that it's usually harder for us to get things working fast on the PS3," A Ninja Theory dev going by the name of Lusty posted on the studio's forums.
"It's a really powerful piece of kit but it's a little more complex to work with than the 360."
"So maybe there is slightly more work being done on the PS3 as we can be pretty sure that if we get it working at a decent FPS on PS3 then it's going to work on 360 too."
The rest of what Lusty had to say is much more neutral and mitigating.
"We're actively developing day to day on both PS3 & 360; we have the same number of PS3 and 360 kits in the studio. A lot of work is also done on a PC build as we don't have enough kits for everyone..."
"We've also got a load of automated tests which we run on all platforms. These are not just to find bugs but also to check on performance issues. We know that it's really important to maintain a high FPS with absolutely no slow-down or spiking and this helps us to do that."
"... all platforms get equal love."
We're sure they do Lusty, we're sure they do.
Microsoft is sure that the 360 is going to get a boost from Kinect, claiming that Kinect's launch can be bigger than that of every console in history - including Xbox 360 itself.
Enslaved is due for release in the UK next Friday (October 8).
