More than that, 62 per cent intend to buy an iPhone as their next smartphone, while 22 per cent have their sights set on an Android device. Tablets also had a high take up in the age group, with 44 per cent of the survey group owning one (72 per cent of those were iPads).

Jpcsp SVN r2763 is compiled. JPCSP is the most advanced PlayStation Portable(PSP) emulator, allowing you to play your PSP games on a PC. Even though Jpcsp is written in Java, it can already reach 100% PSP speed on a lot of commercial games... and the emulator performance is constantly increasing. Jpcsp takes full advantage of dual-core processors, matching the PSP dual-core architecture. Even a quad-core can give a small performance improvement by leaving free CPU cores for the Java JIT Compiler and the graphics cache.
Jpcsp SVN changelog:
r2760
Fixed GE command PSUB: a patch division of 0 has the same effect as 1 (checked on a PSP using the splinesurface demo).
This should fix the WARNing "Unsupported bezier patches patch_div_s=2 patch_div_t=0".
r2761
Improved sceFontGetFontInfo: this function can be called on a closed font (tested on a PSP).
Improved sceFontFindOptimumFont: new algorithm to find the optimum font. Tested on a PSP.
r2762
Added tests for sceFontFindOptimumFont and sceFontClose to "Font Test" application.
r2763
Improved compatibility of sceIoDevctl: some operations do not delay/yield the current thread. This is important if the sceIoDevctl operation is performed by a thread having a high priority so that it does not give control to threads having a lower priority.

PCSX Reloaded SVN r80326 is compiled. PCSX-Reloaded is a fork of the PCSX-df Project, a PlayStation Emulator, with support for both Windows and GNU/Linux operating systems as well as several bugfixes/improvements.
PCSX Reloaded SVN Changelog:
r80326
Quieting a warning found by Clang's static analyzer.
Properly clean up after ourselves.
Our code doesn't use Carbon, and implicitly links to System.framework (which, on OS X, is just a pointer to libSystem).
Don't include debugging symbols on release builds.

The guys over at Lavalit have released a new version of the beats of rage clone for the Dreamcast, Dingoo, PSP, Linux, Windows, GP2x, Nintendo Wii and Wiz.
OpenBOR is a continuation of the Beats Of Rage 2D game engine, which was originally
created by the wonderful folks over at http://www.senileteam.com.
In 2004, Senile Team released Beats of Rage, a free beat-'em-up for DOS inspired
by SEGA's Streets of Rage series and using sprites from SNK Playmore's King of
Fighters series. The game spread only by word of mouth, but it nonetheless
amassed popularity very quickly. Senile Team soon released an edit pack allowing
anyone interested to create a mod for the BOR engine.
In 2005, Kirby2000 asked Senile Team to open the source code to BOR. They
agreed, and OpenBOR was born. Development on the engine was continued by the
community, and still is to this day.
Heres whats new:
r3713 | utunnels | 2012-10-08 22:29:00 -0400 (Mon, 08 Oct 2012) | 1 line
Changed paths:

Another Firmware release for the Vita:
via http://wololo.net/2012/10/10/release...r-all-regions/
Hiroi01 and NowCry have ported Total_Noob’s eCFW to the Monster hunter exploits (respectively JP, and EU/US), for those of you who are using these exploits on 1.80.Less than a day after Total_Noob’s latest release, his eCFW has been ported to the Monster Hunter exploits. People running on these exploits were already able to enjoy TN-A, but it’s always nice to have an update
TN-B brings the following improvements:
- Changelog CEF 6.60 TN-B
- * Added more patches to get higher games compatibility.
- * Fixed bug that makes incompatibility with some games. (this also fixes bug that freezes your PSVita when you return from PSVita Menu to the backup game or when you resume the device).
- * Set CPU speed to 333 (experimental, not tested yet).
- * Removed hardcoded offsets and savedata path (makes porting CEF very easily).
- * FAKE.ISO is not needed anymore.
- * Forge “.” and “..” entries in directories, because the PSPEmu does not read them. This increases compatibility with many homebrews.
- Changelog TN Menu 0.2 (bugs here will be fixed later, I just focused on CEF bugs)
- * Added ability to move backup games to ms0:/ISO (by pressing X on the game).
- * Added ability to load purchased PSN games.
- * In the progress bar now it shows the speed instead of the past seconds.
- * Added configuration menu (show it by pressing []).
- * Using ISO/CSO reader by Takka.
- * Added memory free space.
I know people are still waiting for a backport of Total_Noob’s work to earlier exploits such as Super Collapse 3. I do not know if anybody is working on this at the moment. Again, this will be made easy when Total_Noob
releases the sources for his exploit.

Can an $89 replica gun controller really make you better at Call of Duty than a traditional pad?Yes says David Kotkin, whose Delta Six invention hits shops early next year (not sure about UK shops yet). The Delta Six has a built-in accelerometer so you tilt to aim. There doesn't appear to be any kind of sensor bar to track where you're pointing, which looks a bit clumsy to me.Have its hopes been Delta blow?
There's recoil, plus pressure switches you can activate with your cheek. You can mimic the removing and reloading of magazines to restock ammo, too."This wins against a reg controller even with and Avenger adapter on it!" David Kotkin, who also invented the Avenger controller, commented."We're more excited about Delta Six than any other project to date. The Wii and the Move tried but could not make a fun and innovative motion control for FPS games. So we had to."This is fun for adults, not for gamers younger than 21," he added.Delta Six can also be reassembled to mimic sub-machine guns and sniper rifles as well.

via http://wololo.net/2012/10/09/release...blocker-alpha/
Total_Noob just released an update to his eCFW for the Vita, CEF 6.60 TN Hen. The game makes compatibility with previous exploits easier to achieve, brings some bug fixes, but more importantly, brings compatibility with the game Mad blocker Alpha.
We organized a Ninja Release for the game, and hopefully many people were able to buy it in time, but sadly, the name of the game was leaked by a handful of people, and got pulled from the Sony PSN (this is at least confirmed for Europe, people in the US might have better luck) before we could do this public announcement. 15’000 members of our forums were part of the Ninja release, and in all honesty I wouldn’t expect all of them to keep their mouth shut, but it is sad to see that some major scene websites contributed to the leak, in the form of “rumor” articles and falsely naive posts. In the long run, those things hurt the scene more than necessary.
That being said, hopefully all the people who were looking for the ninja release got the info in time, and, well, if you missed the Monster Hunter exploit AND the Urbanix exploit AND the Mad Blocker alpha exploit, maybe the world wasn’t ready for your Vita to be hacked. There might be other opportunities in the future, but to be honest, a Kernel exploit has that “once a year” kind of feeling to it, if you ask me. And the “extra opportunity” for those who missed the release was actually the Mad blocker Alpha one, which really wasn’t planned initially.
For people on previous exploits who haven’t updated to one of the 3 exploits mentioned above, I’d say stay tuned. At some point TN’s work will be made open source (as he said a few days ago), and porting the eCFW to your exploit will become possible at that point.

via http://wololo.net/2012/10/09/pre-pac...vhbl-releases/
As announced early this morning, a modified H.bin has been created to effectively utilize Total_Noob’s TN-A on the older vHBL releases. This is great news for everyone who hasn’t updated, and doesn’t plan on updating to 1.81.
Thanks to VIP user & owner of zload.net, The Z, you can now download prepackaged TN-A releases for older vHBL releases.
Simply head on over to zload.net‘s Vita section and download the archive of your choice, named according to the exploited game you have.
You will need OpenCMA installed before attempting. You can read on how to achieve this here.
Then, once you have downloaded the archive from zload.net and have installed OpenCMA on your computer extract the archive to your C:\Users\xxxx\Documents\PSAVEDATA\xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx \ folder (in Windows, path may be slightly different for MAC/Linux) and transfer the content to your Vita using the Content Manager app.
Load up your game and load the exploit just as you did with vHBL, and you will be presented with TNLoader.
Most importantly, remember to have fun, and thank the numerous people involved in these releases.
Note by Wololo: It has been confirmed that this will not work on any firmware below 1.80, so technically this is useful only for Monster Hunter owners. The problem comes from offset differences in older firmwares, that prevent TN’s exploit from running in its current state. Bringing compatibility to older firmwares is just a matter of changing the offsets to the right values, but that requires somebody to do the dev work.

King of Fighters XIII will be the latest game added to US PlayStation Plus subscribers' Instant Game Collection.
The Instant Game Collection is an assortment of both full retail and PSN-only titles made available to PS Plus subs to download at no extra charge.Last week saw the addition of NFL Blitz to the collection, and tomorrow's PS Store update will add King of Fighter XIII to that list.
In addition, The Revenge of Shinobi will be put on sale for just $1 to PS Plus subs this week, while new release Derrick the Deathfin will go for $5.59 - and 30 per cent discount on the normal $7.99 everyone else will pay.
Instant Game Collection has proved a huge hit with PlayStation gamers, as Sony accredited a surge of sign-ups in June to the initiative's announcement at E3.

More Info
What else can be said about the PlayStation 3 at this point that hasn't already been said? Since launching in 2006, there have been approximately 400 different permutations of the console: variations on hard drive sizes, functionality, physical shape and, of course, price. The latest model, the PlayStation 3 Superslim, is no different. It comes in just two permutations: 250GB ($270) and 500GB ($300). With the latter launching at the end of October, we've spent the last week with the already available 250GB model. Is it time to finally jump in to the PlayStation 3 party, or upgrade that aging 2006 model? Head below to find out.

October 8th, 2012, 22:17 Posted By: wraggster
Modders have unearthed a host of hidden files on the Resident Evil 6 game disc that demonstrate the presence of future DLC on existing copies of the game.
They show that the game will at some point offer a new difficulty mode – No Hope – as well as additional costumes and animations for the multiplayer mode.
"We still have unannounced DLC for RE6 that will be revealed in the coming months,” a Capcom spokesperson told MCV.
“While virtually all such content will not be on the disc there will be one piece of content, that for technical reasons, requires the use of a combination of newly downloaded data and data that is included on the retail game disc.”
In March of this year Capcom found itself trapped in a media whirlwind after it was discovered that much of its planned post-release DLC for Street Fighter X Tekken was sitting on the game disc consumers had already purchased.
“The character information and files were intentionally included on retail versions of the PS3 and Xbox 360 game to save hard drive space and to ensure for a smooth transition when the DLC is available, allowing players who choose not to purchase the content the ability to play against players that did,” a Capcom spokesperson told MCV at the time.
However, by May Capcom had softened its stance, suggesting that the practise would likely be avoided in the future.
“We would like to assure you that we have been listening to your comments and as such have begun the process of re-evaluating how such additional game content is delivered in the future,” Capcom’s corporate officer and senior VP Christian Svensson admitted.
“As this process has only just commenced in the past month or so, there will be some titles, where development began some time ago and that are scheduled for release in the coming months, for which we are unable to make changes to the way some of their post release content is delivered.”
Marketeers would argue that in reality there’s no difference between on-disc DLC and downloadable DLC – the on-disc content would not be there were it not for planned revenue generated by the consumer payout, they say.
Others argue, however, that paying for post-release DLC such as GTA’s Lost and Damned is a world away from paying to access data on a disc that the consumer already rightfully owns.

Via http://wololo.net/2012/10/08/release...rmode-exploit/
Good news, everyone! If you happen to be running VHBL on one of the previous exploits such as Monster Hunter, this is for you: Japanese developer Hiroi01 created a new loader that makes Total_Noob’s 6.60 CFE TN-A compatible with your game. That’s right, this is not limited to Urbanix anymore. Please note that I haven’t tested this yet, and I suspect it might only work on 1.80 and 1.81, so technically this could be a solution limited to Monster Hunter owners (as far as I know, some offsets are different between all these firmwares, and that could prevent TN’s exploit from working correctly on earlier firmwares), but please give it a try and report success or failure.
Installation is relatively simple, but requires you to follow the steps carefully, don’t mix up the files
- Get VHBL for your user exploit (for example, VHBL for Monster hunter if you have Monster Hunter and are running on 1.80). The purpose of this step is not to get VHBL, but to get the exploited savegame for your game. VHBL is actually not used at all in this process.
- Get Total_Noob’s TN-A for Urbanix (yes, it’s the Urbanix version, at this point it does *not* matter that you don’t have the game Urbanix
- Get Hiroi01′s mod here
- Replace your VHBL’s H.BIN with the H.BIN from the mod
- Install all of that to your Vita with Open CMA, and run the exploit like you would normally run VHBL
- TN’s exploit should load.
Again, I haven’t tested this yet, so please report failure or success

via http://wololo.net/2012/10/08/the-pos...ernel-exploit/
Over the past few week or so the PlayStation Vita scene has changed drastically. We’ve seen the leaked work of former developer, Coldbird, and the released work that is TN-A, a HEN equivalent for the Vita’s PSP emulator, but what really can we do with a sand-boxed PSP emulator kernel exploit. In it’s most basic form, the recently released HEN allows homebrew, plugins, and PSP UMD backups to be run, but what really is the purpose of a kernel exploit? After all, it’s not all that common as you would think.
Many of you who are long time members of wololo.net recall the past 9 months of vHBL releases, and possibly even before the PlayStation Vita, back to the original PSP 1000, 2000, and 3000 series. The constant cat and mouse game of exploits and updates has been going on for nearly 7 years, beginning with the launch firmware on the PSP 1000. In this time period, nothing has really changed. A usermode exploit allows for homebrew, created with the SDK, to be run, as well as other unsigned code. Furthermore, escalating higher than just usermode, we have the kernel mode exploit we are presented with today.
A kernelspace exploit allows for anyone to have access to the flash0 of the PSP, or in the case of the Vita, the sandboxed flash0, memory. This allows for custom firmware to be created and deployed, homebrew to be run, PSP UMD backups to be played, cheats to be used, themes to be changed, plugins to be installed, and so on. A kernel exploit in it’s highest form is one of the best forms of access to any given console. Once you have the kernel exploited, you can do pretty much anything.
How about in the case of the Vita, how far is too far? Sure, we’ve all seen Davee play ISO’s back on the Vita in March, and “Tony” play PS1 games in the same fashion, but what really can be done? The answer lies in the form of the PSP 1000. You see, Sony decided that it would be best to effectively emulate the PSP 1000 in terms of software and ram, inside of the Vita’s own user interface. The PSP emulator on the Vita is launched with any game that you have downloaded from PSN or transferred from your PS3. When the game is launched, the PSP is technically being emulated, such as it would if it was running in an emulator on your computer. Emulators have been around for years, this is no different.
By not having to allow a lot of ram to the PSP emulator, the Vita can continue to process everything it needs to in the background. This is good for the average user, but perhaps not so much for the developer.
I write this article purely on theory at this point, as I have to wait until Tuesday like the rest of you to get my hands on a kernelspace exploit, but I have come to an understanding of what really can be done inside of this sandbox Sony has lent us.
Perhaps the ram allowed for the emulator isn’t enough, but what I do know is that the entire system’s firmware is present, this is evident in the flash dump we had quite some time ago.
With all of the required files in place, I strongly believe that the PSP emulator inside of the Vita can be used in the same way a PSP you buy can be used. This means all the things you’ve grown to love as an original PlayStation Portable user, and everything mentioned above. Whether it be the Cross Media Bar (XMB) or anything else under the sun, I’m willing to bet we will at some point see it in the emulator on the Vita.
You might be asking yourself, does this mean we could see a full fledged PSP customer firmware running inside of the Vita’s PSP emulator? The simple answer to that very detailed question is fortunately a solid, yes.
Just as the PSP 1000 has it’s fair share of CFW, I believe the Vita will too inside it’s PSP environment.
Think about this. What if you were able to launch any PlayStation Portable game from PSN and be presented with the XMB you remember from the PSP’s golden days? From here you could watch movies or play games, and even homebrew. All this could very soon be possible.
Simply by having this one kernel exploit, and the many games that can be exploited to launch it (read: Monster Hunter, Urbanix) we have a whole world of opportunities.
As we approach what is soon to be another update, by definition of the cat and mouse game between Sony and us developers, I urge you not to update to whatever the newer firmware may be (be it 1.82 or 1.9) no matter the cost, as the only publicly available kernel exploit will be gone, forever.
