Frobisher Says is a collection of mini-games exclusive to the Vita with the main intention of showing off what the console can do. The game was released with the Vita in Europe, but North America missed out...until now.
Frobisher Says is like WarioWare, but with British humor. Vita owners in Europe have been able to enjoy the title since launch, but North America has been oddly left in the dark.An announcement on the PlayStation Blogshould have North American Vita owners quite happy. From October 23rd Frobisher Says will be available as a free download.
The game consists of 50 mini-games, which can be played with up to eight players, with every game using the different features that the Vita has to offer.
Frobisher Says is an entertaining little title, and as a free download it is worth checking it out.

Jet Set Radio is not styling its way to PlayStation Vita today in Europe, Sega announced. Speaking to VG247, a representative confirmed the game's skated past its due release date because of necessary optimizations required for the Vita platform. Sega UK couldn't confirm to Joystiq if the same delay affects the North American version, also due today.
The skater came in HD to XBLA and PSN (PS3) last month. JC said in his Deja review, "The style is as fresh as it was then. Despite being made ten years ago, the candy-colored vision of Tokyo's streets still looks a little futuristic, a little modern, and essentially timeless."
Update: Sega confirms the US version is delayed too, and that a final release date will be announced soon.

Analysts appear to be split on just how important it is for Sony to react to recent price drops from Microsoft and Nintendo
Sony Computer Entertainment America
us.playstation.com
Microsoft today confirmed the retailer promotions we've been seeing on Xbox 360 bundles. The $50 price reduction is apparently temporary to drive sales through the holidays, but it does help drive interest in a market where Xbox 360 is already outselling PS3 each month. On top of that, Wii U is about to launch and Wii has seen a price cut as well. What's Sony to do?
Sony is the only the console manufacturer not to drop price this fall. In fact, thesuper slim model was released, strangely, at an MSRP that's $20 higher. Some analysts believe it's imperative that Sony chop PS3's retail price now.
"It's good to see price cuts on Xbox 360 bundles in addition to the lower Wii pricing. This should help increase industry revenue for 2012 [but] PS3 could stand to lose more market share. I'd like to see Sony bring down PS3 prices to better compete with Xbox 360," Inside Network analyst Billy Pidgeon told GamesIndustry International.
Colin Sebastian of RW Baird agrees. "Sony needs to drop the price of the PS3, which would be well timed Q4 before the expected announcement of the PS4 sometime in early 2013," he said.
While PS3 is consistently in Xbox 360's rear-view mirror, IDC Research Manager Lewis Ward doesn't believe a price cut will happen this holiday. "Sony dropped their console prices $50 in 3Q11 so I don't expect another price cut this holiday season. I don't think Sony will have terrible game sales results this holiday season but I also won't be surprised if they come in 3rd when it's all said and done," he told us.
"The fundamental question for Sony right now is how many incremental PS3 units could they sell at this point in the cycle if they cut price now? "
PJ McNealy
"What we'll really have this holiday season in North America on the low end of the console scale is the ~$130 Wii bundle going up against the '$99' 4GB X360 version (with the 2-year, $15/month Gold subscription required), and then the PS3 starting at ~$250 for the 160GB version.
The PS3 'super slim' is really a European phenomenon. It's a way to get the price down in Europe this holiday - by slashing the onboard memory to bare bones. From my perspective, the SKU is basically an outlier that was specifically tailored to drive up the PS3 installed base in Europe, where the PS3 has emerged as the #1 selling console in 2012.
"
EEDAR's Jesse Divnich sees this holiday as a "war on pricing" but the best we'll see from Sony is more bundles. "It is clear that all the current generation consoles are getting a little long in the tooth and unfortunately releasing new models or upgrades is not as strong a motivator as in prior years. What we are likely to see is a strong presence of hardware bundles this holiday season. Offering current holiday hardware discounts, but the inclusion of more and even better software. We'll likely see many hardware bundles packed with AAA titles; whereas in prior years hardware bundles generally had A to AA rated titles. Both Microsoft and Sony will be aggressive on their holiday promotions. I am sure Sony is adequately prepared with proper discounted bundles," he said.
Of course, the real problem for Sony is a financial one. The corporation as a whole has been struggling, and the games division in the last quarter posted an operating loss of $45 million while Sony posted losses overall of $312 million. A price cut on PS3 simply might not be feasible no matter how much it might spark sales.
"The fundamental question for Sony right now is how many incremental PS3 units could they sell at this point in the cycle if they cut price now? My opinion is that it likely wouldn't have a big impact for Sony this calendar year," remarked DWR Research analyst PJ McNealy.
"Sony is trying to minimize losses right now after posting terrible financial results in the past year. I think the solutions for them right now are more focused on a slim PS3 with bundles. Sony has some unique leverage that Microsoft and Nintendo don't have -- a movie studio and music label," he continued. "Sony hasn't been shy to bundle games with movies and I can see more creative bundles coming from Sony while trying to maintain the current pricing structure."
Mike Hickey of National Capital Alliance noted the financial burden as well. "I think philosophically they'll take slower growth and a bit of profit versus more sales and any more bleeding. They're in a position now where they don't want to take any more losses," he said. "We expect there will likely be a PS4 next year, and I think that's where they're putting the majority of their resources. Clearly they're not showing willingness to drive velocity with a price cut, but their competitors are."
"I don't think they're going to get a lot of movement out of the super slim PS3. I don't see it being a real catalyst for driving hardware, and at this point in the cycle you have more of a value buyer, and those consumers are incentivized through a price cut. Without one you're not going to see any pickup in demand, other than some seasonal ones."
Ultimately, a PS3 price cut will happen, but it's much more likely to be sometime closer to when PS4 is a known quantity. "If they cut the price now, they'll just have to cut it again when they announce PS4," added Hickey. "So maybe they are thinking 'Let's limp this through until the announcement' and then they'll do the next price cut similar to what Nintendo did with Wii in front of Wii U."

Will Sony's portable meet an untimely death? Our staff looks at revitalizing the Vita
Vita may be Latin for "life," but Sony's latest handheld seems like it was born with one foot in the grave. Earlier this year, the system launched into a market where people were writing off handheld gaming as dead, analysts called for price cuts at launch, anddevelopers were abandoning the fledgling system in favor of the 3DS (which didn't exactly get off to a great start itself).
Despite a strong showing at Gamescom, the news surrounding the PlayStation Vita hasn't improved much. Sony's admitted to difficulty getting third-party support for the system, and has been made to tap dance around the issue of sales, saying Vita is "maybe trending behind in certain territories."
"Where's the incentive for developers to support an Android platform only available on a handful of devices? The system's sales currently don't justify the effort"
So in the interest of revitalizing the Vita, the GamesIndustry International staff went around the horn, each picking one challenge the system is facing and suggesting how Sony can best meet that challenge. There's no telling if these suggestions would be enough to save the system in a world gone mad for tablets and smartphones, but it would be tough to make things much worse. So let's get straight to it and start with the single biggest problem facing the Vita today.
Dan Pearson: Software, Software, Software!
I was a big fan of the PSP and I've tried my hardest to love the Vita as much, but it's proving a difficult prospect.
I've used mine a fair bit, flicking between games like Everybody's Golf, Gravity Rush, Unit 13 and Frobisher Says, and I think that the Vita is a great bit of hardware. For what it is, it's priced pretty reasonably and, short of more storage, has nothing lacking in its feature design. It is, as people often said of the PSP, a great piece of kit.
Sadly, that statement was all too often followed up by a very pregnant "but..." and it's no different today. Vita is a compact, powerful device with oodles of potential, both as a games platform and a media device, but it has zero "must have" games in its catalogue.
Monster Hunter, the biggest gap in Vita's software portfolio.
Looking at Metacritic's listings we see a fair slice of friendly, reviewer pleasing green - a solid catalogue of good titles. But how many of them would you buy a system to play? My guess is not many, given that they're almost all either revamps of old games or available elsewhere. There's nothing on that list which gives most people the urge to splurge.
For me, there's one glaring, incredible omission.
Monster Hunter.
I could leave it there, almost. The Monster Hunter series, selling several million units in Japan alone, was an absolutely integral factor in the PSP being an also ran in the race with the DS rather than a DNF. The series never quite took off in the West, perhaps in part because of a PSP small install base, but for a long time it was the best way to play this unique and engaging series.
Then Capcom brought Monster Hunter Tri to the Wii and started a whole new friendship, one which has seen the series move its next two iterations to the 3DS, with no sign of a Vita game on the horizon. It might be a niche title in the West, but any game which sell 1.5 million units in Japan on release week, as Monster Hunter Freedom Unite did, is going to shift some hardware.
"It might be a niche title in the West, but any game which sell 1.5 million units in Japan on release week is going to shift some hardware"
I'm a bit of a MH fanboy, so I'm probably prone to over-stating the case here, but Sony desperately needs something to pull it out of the vicious circle that is seeing developers cancel Vita projects before they're even announced, however much Sony may protest that it's not the case.
The Vita passed the million unit sale mark in Japan this week, a week when its unit sales were among the lowest ever. That means it's currently selling more slowly than the Dreamcast. Let's hope it doesn't suffer the same fate.
Mike Williams: PS Mobile - Too Little, Too Late
Remember PlayStation Mobile? The platform is Sony's way of getting in on the hot mobile game action on PlayStation devices. Developers can create a title and release it on PlayStation Vita and PlayStation-certified Android smartphones and tablets. PlayStation Mobile was announced way back in January 2011, with the platform finally launching this month.
Sixteen titles round out Sony's launch list of titles, but that makes the list of PlayStation-certified devices look amazing. That list includes Sony's Xperia lineup, and HTC's One S, One V, and One X. Further certified devices are coming from other hardware vendors like Asus and WikiPad, but manufacturers aren't beating down Sony's door to get on board. That leaves Sony with a service that's not even available on most Android phones, including Samsung's best-selling handsets, let alone on Apple's iOS.
The PlayStation Mobile SDK is coming for developers in November, but the $99 license fee matches other platforms where developers can find far greater traction. This includes Google Play, which comes on most Android devices sold today. Where's the incentive for developers to support an Android platform only available on a handful of devices? The ability to play on the Vita? The system's sales currently don't justify the effort.
"The hardcore can whine about how inferior mobile is, but the hardcore have become a niche market"
Sony needs to get more PlayStation-certified devices out there. Missing larger Android vendors like Samsung, LG, and Motorola isn't going to fly. Selling more Vitas would also help on this end, but Sony still hasn't found the magic key to get consumers on its side. My colleagues have some ideas on how to fix that, but without more Vitas or PlayStation-certfied devices in consumers' hands, PlayStation Mobile is a non-starter.

PlayStation Vita release Call of Duty: Black Ops II Declassified will not feature a Hollywood-style action single player romp.
Instead, the game will focus on multiplayer, despite the fact that matches will be limited to four-on-four.
“The biggest difference is in terms of the game focus,” the CEO of developer Nihilistic Software Robert Huebner stated. “Declassified is not about the big campaign storyline and huge cinematics, it’s more focused on the multiplayer essence of Call of Duty and bringing that to a portable device as completely as possible, and in bringing short, objective-based missions and score-driven gameplay with lighter story elements to create what we call the Operations missions.
“Then adding in some bonus modes like Time Trials and Hostiles to make a product that delivers the core Call of Duty experience in a mobile package.
“The goal was not to make a product that is a port of any past or present Call of Duty game, but to make a tailored experience for the Vita that adds new content and new background about Woods and Mason’s careers for players who have played the original Black Ops and will almost certainly be picking up Black Ops II.”
Huebner also addressed the negative reaction the game has attracted from some elements of the press, adding: “The video and screenshots released at Gamescom showed early work in progress; we knew the final look of the game would continue to come together, so the reaction to the early footage wasn’t a big surprise.”
Perhaps most importantly a release date for the game was finally confirmed – it will arrive on November 13thalongside the console and PC versions.

Divisive horror title Deadly Premonition will shed its Xbox 360 exclusivity next year and stalk onto PlayStation.
Sony's Playstation Blog has revealed that a Director's Cut will be released for PS3 in 2013.
It will include the original game, as well as new features such as HD graphics, an updated control scheme, DLC and a brand new scenario from director Hidetaka 'Swery' Suehiro.
Deadly Premonition: The Director's Cut follows FBI agent Francis York Morgan as he investigates the murder of a young woman and tries to survive attacks from killer and strange supernatural creatures.
While it was released for PS3 in Japan back in 2010, it has only been available on Xbox 360 in the West. The original 360 release received extremely mixed reviews, but the game soon gathered a cult following.

The PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale beta will kick off tomorrow on Vitaglobally.
PlayStation Plus members on PS3 will also be able to access the beta tomorrow in the US, and on Wednesday, October 17 in Europe, before it expands to everyone a week later. The beta will support Cross-Play, enabling Vita and PS3 players to fight with and against each other.
Here's the beta feature list, as posted on thePS Blog:
- You'll be able to play as Kratos, Sweet Tooth, Colonel Radec, Sly Cooper, PaRappa and Fat Princess.
- You'll be able to play in both the Metropolis and Hades stages.
- You'll be able to try out four-player online tournaments and 2 vs 2 online tournaments. For the 2 vs 2 games we'll be supporting friend invites, so you and a friend can fight another team online.
- This, of course, is only a tiny fraction of what PlayStation All-Stars has to offer, but we thought you'd love the chance to try it early and see what all the buzz is about. This beta is also really helpful for us as it allows us to load test the servers before releasing the game. Be sure to hop on quickly as we'll be ending the beta on 30th October
Sony recently delayed the PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale release date by one month to November 20 in the US (21 in Europe, 22 in Aus & NZ and 23 in UK & Ireland).

Call of Duty Elite membership will come free with Black Ops II.
The bespoke social network was once seen as Activision’s early attempt to manoeuvre the Call of Duty IP into the subscription-based market, but those plans have seemingly been abandoned.
Instead, Activision will try to generate post-sale revenue for the game via the sale of multilayer map packs or the new £34.99 Season Pass.
“For Black Ops II, we’re offering a season pass, and we’re still offering DLC map packs * la carte,” Activision Publishing chief exec Eric Hirshberg told VentureBeat.
“The best thing for our business is to keep our players engaged. What we’ve found, Dean, is that Elite offers a lot of really engaging services that were only reaching a portion of our community. We think that by making these services available to a much wider audience, it will be better both for our players and for us.
“Absolutely. Our mission from the start with Elite was to make multiplayer a more social, more connected experience. And we accomplished that, but only for our premium members. So we’ve come to the conclusion that Elite has more value as a community-wide platform to drive engagement and connectivity than as a paid, members-only service. This is truly a win/win.”
Activision insists, however, that the CoD Elite experiment was not a failure.
“We have sold over 2.3m Elite memberships,” Hirshberg added. “I think we’ve shown that people are willing to pay for services if those services are compelling. We’re not making this change because services are harder to market.
“We’re making this change because we think there is a greater benefit to making these services available to a wider audience.
