IGN have posted a ton of screens and some info about the game Def Jam:
Representatives from Electronic Arts paid a visit to the IGN offices this afternoon and brought an alpha build of Def Jam: Fight for NY - The Takeover right along with them. Though the version in-hand was over a month old (EA is keeping the newer versions under wraps until a later date), we did get to see a number of the PSP-exclusive additions already.
The most obvious of these new features is the implementation of ground grapples and a tightening of the stagger animations. More specifically, in the original console version only strikes and a few specialty maneuvers could be pulled off while an opponent was on the floor. Now, both the guy on his back and the assailant standing over him can go into full horizontal grappling -- complete with reversals, escapes, and the same old strike maneuvers that were used before.

PopcOrn DeVil has released on his site a new Lua game for the PSP, heres the details:
My first piece of homebrew for the PSP ever apart from mods, Button Masher Endurance! Coded in LUA so you'll need to download Lua Player to play it.
How to play:
First open up script.lua in the lowser (the browser in lua player). The preparation screen will open and then someone must press start so you can start mashing the buttons. Player one holds the PSP at the left end, and presses the up and down buttons to bring Player two's points down. Player 2 holds the PSP at the right end and presses /\ and X to bring Player one's score down. Whoever's score reaches 0 first loses!
Now you may wonder why it's called BM "Endurance". ...

Alleged theft of console leads to skirmish between armed groups in Northern Ireland city.
A dispute over the alleged theft of a PlayStation 2 escalated into a skirmish between armed gangs in the streets of Ballymena, Northern Ireland, last weekend, according to a report in Ballymena Today.
The violence touched off on Friday night, the article states, as "large numbers" of police arrived in the town center area and found a crowd of people, several of whom had been injured in a fight. The police made arrests and confiscated a number of weapons from the scene, including a samurai sword and a table leg. Later that night, a petrol bomb (commonly known in the US as a Molotov cocktail) was thrown at a home in the area.
The weekend ended in much the same way it began, as another home had a number of windows broken and was the target of another petrol bomb. The bomb caused minor damage and one person was treated for smoke inhalation, Ballymena Today reports.
Two men face criminal charges as a result of the weekend violence, one for possession of an offensive weapon, the other for disorderly behavior and resisting arrest. A third man was reported for disorderly behavior.
"It would appear that this has started from the alleged theft of a PlayStation," police commander Terry Shevlin told the paper. "There was a very real threat and likelihood that this was going to escalate. It was understood that people from other parts of the Province were coming to Ballymena to provide backup to the families...I understand that third parties are attempting to mediate between the families and hopefully that will defuse the situation."

Publisher compiles 15 more arcade games of years past in its second portable compilation; lineup includes Street Fighter II, Knights of the Round.
It was just last month that Capcom Classics Collection Remixed brought 20 of the publisher's arcade games of yore to the PlayStation Portable, and now quarter-jockey gamers on the go can look forward to over 15 more.
Capcom today announced that it will release a follow-up compilation to Remixed in Capcom Classics Collection Reloaded. Reloaded will include a number of hits conspicuous by their absence in Remixed, like Street Fighter II, Commando, and Ghouls 'n' Ghosts. But as with Remixed and the console editions of Capcom Classics Collection, there will be a selection of more obscure titles, such as the globally conscious side-scrolling shooter Eco Fighters, as well as the side-scrolling beat-'em-ups Knights of the Round and King of Dragons.
In addition to ad hoc wireless play, Reloaded will feature game-sharing capabilities so multiple PSP owners can play together off a single copy of the game. Capcom is promising that players can customize screen settings and controls to suit their tastes, and they will also be able to earn credits toward an in-game slot machine that doles out original art, secret codes, and gameplay tips.
Capcom Classics Collection Reloaded is set for release in North America in the fourth quarter of the year.

Our friends over at PSP Vault posted this news:
Sony's PSP Connect page has just recently seen an update. Although it isn't much to get excited about, it does show us that Sony hasn't completely forgotten about that website. I'll be keeping you updated as much as possible about Sony's plans for it's new Connect service.
- Also, for those of you using Sony's SonicStage application to manage your music for your PSP, I'll be publishing a User Guide very shortly with some helpful hints to help you get the most out of your music. There were a numerous amount of questions recently and so I feel like a User Guide will be pretty helpful

ProjectPSP have released a new UMD Launcher for the PSP, Heres the full details:
Genesis UMD Loader 2.6 is used with what?
The goal of this Loader, similar to RunUMD, is to launch an ORIGINAL UMD 2.6 on all the other Firmware versions without making the necessary FW update to play, and thus keeping the possibility of playing back-ups and others' homebrew too on 1.5.
Small Tutorial:
J has tested my Loader (based on RunUMD) and J has been able to launch all the UMDs that require 2.6 on my PSP 1.5 of which include FIFA Street (stock), Generation Of Chaos (custom) and Key Of Heaven (stock).
NOTE: Install the Loader in PSP/GAME, and the file "X" has the root of the MS.
Attention: It may be that the folder "X" conflicts, and thus the Loader UMD 2.6 does not launch if you possess a back-up with a FiX which contains already an "X" folder. In this case there, the back-up will have priority over the UMD ORIGINAL inserted in the PSP drive (for the moment, only NARUTO poses this problem).
2 Solutions:
--> put this Loader on a 32MB MemoryStick delivered to the PSP. (32MB MS should be used it is usually insufficient to store a back-up on, so make use of it this way).
--> or then it will be necessary to modify the Loader to launch the "X" folder which will be named differently example "Y", "Z",etc...
Compatibility With PSP Games (J will try to update as much as possible):
Original UMDs tested WORKING:
- UMD FIFA STREET 2 EURO
- UMD KEY OF HEAVEN EURO
- UMD DEATH JR EURO
- UMD GENERATION OF CHAOS USA
Original UMDs tested NOT WORKING:
- UMD SPLINTER CELL ESSENTIAL EURO
Plays PSP back-up with FiX required:
After testing with my "X" folder:
- WORMS with FiX works and does not conflict (LEAVE my "X" folder for it).
- STREET FIGHTER ALPHA 3 USA does not launch, must put the "X" of the FiX in place of my "X" folder for it to work.
- NARUTO goes, but boot functionality on the ORIGINAL UMD 2.6 doesn't work (so NARUTO, that is to say boot UMD thus to erase file NARUTONP).

IGN have done one of their great hands on of the latest Tomb Raider game for the PSP, heres an excerpt:
In place of the original development team Core Design, Crystal Dynamics has fashioned an adventure game that targets the roots of the original. You'll encounter vast landscapes, a litany of ancient tombs, mystic creatures, and corrupt raiders. But instead of an RPG-like adventure in an empty city (Angel of Darkness), or a frustrating set of London puzzles (TR3), or a patchwork of slightly related missions (TR Chronicles), you've got a coherent storyline, an athletic easy-to-move character, and focus on adventure, exploration, and lots of tomb raiding. Admittedly, it's difficult to shake off the old cynicisms about this once-tired series, but in a way, Tomb Raider: Legend is refreshing.
The game is the same content on all platforms, so you won't play anything different on the PS2 than you will on Xbox 360. Although admittedly, the PSP version, which we recently played, does offer mini-games and neat additions the others don't. And I have to say, this version of Lara Croft is sexy. For a character that lost her charm long ago, it's nice to see Ms. Croft looking so realistic in design, so carefully crafted, and as a result, so sexy. This is the best looking version of Lara Croft you've ever seen.

Source - ShackNews
Shacknews has learned from a reliable source close to Sony that a new iteration of its PSP console is currently in the works. The device is a successor rather than a redesign of the current system; recent rumors have suggested that Sony is also working on a redesigned PSP. It is not clear if the two rumors are in fact speaking about the same project, but this new report definitely refers to a brand new system. It will have built in hard drive support from the beginning, and will not be using the UMD media format, either for games or for other content. This makes sense, since the PSP is the only device that uses UMDs, and since UMD movie sales have been falling lately, there is little reason for Sony to stick with the format. However, it does appear to rule out the possibility of backwards compatibility. It is unknown what format will be used in its stead. The device, which the source referred to only as "PSP 2," is currently in development, and may appear some time "in the next three years."
Nvidia recently announced that it has a new design contract with Sony, one which will apparently pay more than the company received for its work on the PlayStation 3's GPU. It seems fairly likely that the contract in question refers to this PSP successor, given Sony's history of working with Nvidia on game console technology.
When contacted for comment, SCEA representative Paul Murphy said, "As you know, SCEA does not comment on rumors or speculation."
