Not totally surprising but the PSvita is a great console for hacking, if you have one you havent upgraded then dont and check your firmwares:
PlayStation Spain’s Twitter account recently posted a reply to a fan comment, confirming that the PlayStation Vita has been discontinued in its territory. There haven’t been any announcements about it being discontinued in other territories, so this is a bit of a surprise. You can see the tweet below.
Here’s the translation. A fan by the name of Portadictos noted, “There is nothing to clarify, everything is clear, you have retired PS Vita market and there is no way to buy one, I've been looking for hours.”
To which PlayStation’s Spain account replied, “Hello! It's actually discontinued, yes.”
There could be an announcement in the months ahead confirming the system’s demise, although it’s not likely to happen in Japan, since it’s actually doing pretty good there – even without Sony’s support. But don’t be shocked if Sony Interactive Entertainment posts something in the months ahead about its discontinuation in the U.S. market.
Sony has already kind of moved on from both the PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 3, confirming earlier this year that it’s cutting games for both systems from its PlayStation Plus program, happening over the next year. And, obviously, no new titles have been confirmed for either platform, save for indie releases or special exceptions on Vita, like Square Enix’s remastered port of Secret of Mana.
So do you think its finally 'Game Over' for the PSVita, will we be nailing its coffin close soon and posting a R.I.P. news story soon?

The news just keeps coming, this time for PS4:
@x0rloser was forced to 'Tweet' after an very long period of silence, after some clever lurkers discovered his new GITHub upload!
x0rloser said:
So I uploaded this to github earlier today. I didn't get around to telling anyone and yet somehow ppl on twitter already found it xD
OFFICIAL GIT: --> https://github.com/x0rloser/ps4_wifi_bt
PS4 wifi/bluetooth firmware reversing h4x
v1.0 xorloser march 2018
Overview
The PS4 uses a hardware module codenamed torus for its wifi and bluetooth. Currently there are two different versions of this; the older torus1 and the newer torus2.
The torus firmwares are stored in plaintext on the PS4's flash. The PS4 loads them into the hardware module.
This is not going to lead to some magical hack of the PS4, its just fun to poke around inside it to see what it does.
Torus1
The older torus1 is based around the Marvell Avastar 88W8797 SoC. It supports up to wifi n. This SoC has a Marvell Feroceon® CPU (ARMv5TE-compliant) inside it. Check this pdf for more specs.
Torus2
The newer torus2 is based around the Marvell Avastar 88W8897 SoC. This updated SoC adds wifi ac. It is used in PS4 Pro consoles and probably PS4 slim since I see that PS4 Slim supports wifi ac. Check this pdf for more specs
Apparently this SoC also inside the XboxOne
Firmware files
The torus firmware files are stored in plaintext in the PS4 flash. You can parse the flash partitions and filesystems to find it stored as the filename "C0020001". Or if you have a flashdump just search for the string "C0020001" in it. The size of the firmware is a 32bit value stored 0xC bytes before the "C0020001" filename. The firmware data will be stored 0x1D0 bytes after the "C0020001" filename.
The following bytes that show the start of the torus1 firmware: 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 04 00 00 The following bytes that show the start of the torus2 firmware: 50 4B 03 04 14 00 08 00 08 00
The firmware can also be found inside the PS4UPDATE.PUP update files. The PS4UPDATE.PUP files internally contain multiple PS4UPDATEx.PUP entries. The torus firmwares are inside PS4UPDATE1.PUP and can found from their pkg ids: 0x003 == torus1_fw.bin 0x022 == torus2_fw.zip
Note that newer firmwares will include both the torus1 and torus2 fws, so there will be two "C0020001" files.
Reversing the torus FW files
The first step is to convert the firmware file into an elf file by running fw_to_elf.py. This makes it easier to access the firmware contents with various tools that support the common elf file format.
Code:
fw_to_elf.py torus1_fw.bin torus1.elf
or
fw_to_elf.py torus2_fw.zip torus2a.elf torus2b.elf
Note that torus2 firmwares internally have 2 sets of data. I am not sure why at this point. So converting torus2 firmwares will resulting in 2 elf files, whereas converting torus1 firmwares will result in 1 elf file.
The next step is to disassemble the elf files using whatever tools you normally use to reverse arm/thumb binaries. If you use IDA v7 then you can use the "ida_fw_setup.py" script I made to perform the data init routines that unpack, copy and clears data in various ram locations. This is quite important for torus1 fws to unpack packed data, however for torus2 fws it seems to just zero out certain ram areas, probably bss areas.
Load the elf into IDA. It should detect as ARM little endian. On the initial load screen you might want to do: Processor options -> Edit ARM architecture options -> tick ARMv5TEJ and then Kernel options 1 -> untick Create function tails
Now you can run the script by doing: File -> Script file... and then selecting "ida_fw_setup.py".
Wait a few seconds for it to complete and then you are ready to explore

Heres some interesting news for PS4 owners on newer firmwares:
Everytime, Sony rolls out a new firmware update, one of main things it does is throw a wrench into the 'SaveWizard' with more complex Game Save Data Encryption, and more keys, etc. -- But the wizards will not be stopped as they have now unlocked v5.5.0!
Save Wizard for PS4 MAX now SUPPORTS System Software 5.50 AND below. System Software above this MAY break compatibility. Make sure you turn off any auto updates & to be really safe, disconnect from the internet as System Software can be released at any time WITHOUT warning.
Let us also be clear that new versions of System Software are intentionally designed to BREAK compatibility with Save Wizard for PS4 MAX. Modified saves should be used and stored OFFLINE at all times. If you choose to ignore the above, that is YOUR decision.
Meanwhile, all servers are now updated so have fun again.
And if that was not amazing enough, soon afterwards they released a bunch more new cheats and saves, with now over 700 games supported and over 50,000 cheat codes, you can't beat the value their software and support brings you, so check it out today!

A PS4 emulator, now this is good news, heres the release info:
Never say Impossible, when it comes to developer @AlexAltea, he is already working on an emulator for the PlayStation 4 console!
Orbital is a low-level virtualization-based PlayStation 4 emulator for Windows and Linux. In other words, it's goal is allowing the entire PlayStation 4 software stack to run on your PC. This is an open-source project, and so any resources/findings are shared straight back with the rest of the community of PS4 developers.
While both the PS4 and computers share the same CPU architecture, it doesn't mean this project is easy. Reverse engineering the kernel and system modules, understanding hardware and re-implementing it focusing on high-performance in a system as complex as the PS4 is an arduous task. Your support will make a difference.
The current perks are somewhat limited but will be improved as the emulator progresses. Feel free to join our Discord server to discuss emulation in general, following the development of Orbital, and getting the latest news about this project.
Disclaimer: This project is in early stages, don't expect to boot the entire system, let alone games. This campaign is aimed at funding the development of this emulator.
If you got interested into this project and want to know more about it, but also want to fund the development of this emulator:

Heres another exciting item of news for those who like to cheat on their games:
@GregoryRasputin on his site 'PlayStationHAX' reports that scene developer @hurrican6 has updated his fork of the jkpatch for PS4:
Enhanced pointer finder feature.
Pointer finder usage:
- Find the data address on main window.
- Click "Find pointer" on the cheat list view.
- Click "First scan" on "Pointer Finder" window.
- Reboot your PS4 and restart your game. NOTE: DONOT close "Pointer Finder" window.
- Find the new data address on main window.
- Type the new address on the unclosed "Pointer Finder" window.
- Click next scan on "Pointer Finder" window.
- Repeat step 4~7 until there are few results.
- Double click the result for adding cheats to main window.
- Save your results.
This feature may not find the pointers in some games. I have changed my job recently. Further update should be slow.
This is good time to remind everyone that has exploitable v4.55 PlayStation 4 setup, that we have very active forum setup for discussion and finding/using PS4 Cheat Codes, so check it out, try out some, and share the ones you find with our members!

Those of you lucky enough to still be on v4.55 ps4 firmware will love this news:
ESP8266 has become basically the de-facto standard now by those exploiting their v4.55 PS4 consoles, and here is @c0d3m4st4 one:
c0d3m4st4 said:
Read the included manual! Big release, lots of stuff included. Unless bug reports this can be considered non beta.
Includes a tools menu for your smartphone/PC. Also direct boot from a selected HEN @cfwprophet
All written from scratch. May or may not release source code, don't bother asking. After my PiXploitHost got cloned and released by someone else with just different icons, i will need to reconsider a few things. HTML templates are cool but do nothing. Real work is under all that.

Doom has been ported to the Playstation Vita, heres the release news:
Up until now everything device in the world could play DOOM, even a hacked ATM bank machine, but the poor PSVita was left out in the cold with no love, well not any more as the mind-boggling features of Chocolate Doom have been ported over to the Vita for pure classic WAD shooting action!
What is Chocolate Doom?
As the name implies, it’s a source port of DOOM that aims to be as compatible as possible with the original version of DOOM. This means that Chocolate Doom doesn’t have the mind-boggling features that other source ports such as Zandronum and GZDoom have achieved with mods but don’t worry, it still has some extras!
Like many source ports, Chocolate Doom doesn’t only support the legendary DOOM but it supports:
- DOOM, DOOM II, Final DOOM and Ultimate DOOM (4th episode of the original game). These games really don’t need an introduction!
- Chex Quest. The cereal box version of DOOM for kids
- Heretic
- Hexen and its “Deathknights of the Dark Citadel” expansion pack
- Strife
- “Hacx” and “The Master Levels for DOOM II” expansion packs
Chocolate Doom for the PSVita has the following features:
- Sound and music support through OPL3, PC Speaker emulation and OGG files.
- A great integrated launcher that lets you choose between the different games it supports, if you have them installed that is.
- Support for custom files such as PWADs (user-made maps and limited modding), LMPs, DEHs and others. Not all mods will work and the 2 I tried, which are supposed to work with stock DOOM II, didn’t.
- Support for almost all Chocolate Doom features, which I can’t really find much information about as Chocolate Doom is shockingly close to original DOOM by id Software.
What Chocolate Doom will and won’t get you
I played through E1M1 and E1M2 on my PSVita and I can safely say that it works in satisfactory manner with good frame rates. Fortunately or unfortunately, Chocolate Doom is a source port that’s very close to the original so you won’t be getting:
- Upscaled graphics so the game will look somewhat blocky as it’s being rendered at 320×200 and being blown up to the Vita’s screen.
- A good deal of mods, such as Brutal Doom (one of my personal favourites), that require Zandronum or GZDoom
- Any fancy lighting, effects (dynamically moving toxic matter and whatnot), 32-bit colour or any other ‘fancy’ features.
- Other features like 3D floors and custom shaders that are available in other ports.
While Chocolate Doom is very good port in its own right, it won’t give you any of those new flashy features that could make Doom more worthwhile for you. That being said, it’s still an excellent port to play on the PSVita.
Hopefully, we’ll get a port of DOOM with some great mod support, such as Zandronum or GZDoom, and then we could brag about running Brutal Doom on our awesome portable!
Conclusion
To get Chocolate Doom, simply open VHBB on your PSVita and install it from there as it’s available on VitaDB. You also get shareware files for Doom and Heretic included so you can start playing straight away. If you have the files for the full games, simply copy them to ux0:/data/chocolate

Now for some PS3 Hacking news:
@aldostools is back with quick update to his fork of irisMAN to add support for release REBUG releases!
The developer, in addition to preparing his webMAN MOD supporting the latest Rebug D-REX, offers us now the joy a new version of another well-known manager of the PlayStation 3 scene, IrisMAN, which goes to version 4.82.1.
This new version aims to provide support for CFW 4.82 CEX and DEX, remember that IrisMAN is a fork of IrisManager originally developed by Estwald.
In some configurations IrisMAN is more stable than MultiMAN with some different functions, it is sometimes compatible with some titles or more stable than other managers but it depends mainly on your use. Brewology Download Link: --> http://store.brewology.com/get/homeb...d=250&fid=2141

Rinnegatamantehas in a week took Quake III’s source code and made the Vita port go from totally unusable (not rendering anything) to seemingly playable!
Right now, Rinnegatamante has achieved off the following:
Properly rendered menus
Game maps that look pretty well rendered with only smaller bugs present
Good framerate at native resolution, he said that it’s running at around 30FPS. He also tested VitaQuake III at 480×272 (PSP’s native resolution) and said it runs at above 30FPS all of the time
Bot matches
Quake III seems to be working pretty well as of right now but work still needs to be done!
Dynarec support. Dynamic recompilation greatly increases game performance which will ultimately give the user a much better experience.
Currently, VitaQuake III looks to be in advanced stages and Rinnegamante seems to now be focusing on optimising the game and fixing the remaining issues.

Seems that the internet was wrong last week, heres some new news:
Hacker Qwertyoruiop, who’s been one of the most productive hackers of the PS4 scene, has stated that he doesn’t have a 5.50 Kernel exploit for the PS4 at this time. He added he is not looking for one at the moment.
We recently gave a detailed explanation on the current status of PS4 Jailbreak in 2018, and that explanation still holds: if you’re on firmware 4.55 or below, great, you can hack your PS4. If you’re above 4.55, but on 5.05 or below, we know Qwertyoruiop (and probably others) has a kernel exploit, but no official word on a release. As for 5.50, the latest PS4 firmware, it’s confirmed again: there is no knowledge of a kernel exploit existing for that firmware at the moment.
With some major hacking groups such as Fail0verflow turning their eyes to the Nintendo Switch scene, and Qwerty just announcing he “doesn’t have time” for the PS4 currently, there’s a possibility that the hunt for kernel exploits on the latest PS4 firmwares could slow down dramatically.
As I’ve stated before, if you are not the lucky owner of a 4.55 PS4 or below, and are having a hard time finding one, your best option in my opinion is to buy a second PS4, and store one of your consoles on a shelf until a hack comes for it (disclaimer: this is what I did in 2016 with my – at the time – 4.01 PS4) . Owning two consoles nowadays is the only reasonable way to enjoy both hacking and regular gaming.

Are you a fan of Linux ?, if you are this will really interest you:
eeply has released a fork of the PS4-Linux codebase, which now supports PS4 Slim and Pro models. More specifically, the developer has implemented the required HDMI output driver, which was apparently the one thing not working for recent models of the PS4 in the existing Linux implementation.
According to early feedback, getting Linux to run on the PS4 is a bit of hit and miss at the moment, due to some instability (which can cause the occasional freeze at startup) and the fact that it is tough to find the right files to work with. Nevertheless, multiple people have reported that they got Linux to properly run on the PS4 Pro or PS4 Slim, and I’m sure “all in one” packages will surface on your regular scene websites very soon.

Heres a release for the PS3 which should make installing packages easier:
Its only been a few days since the PS3Xploit v3.0 SuperSlim Jailbreak was released and already scene developers are producing great new tools for it, to help make it easier to handle pkg installs, on your non-CFW-compatible, but now fully 'HAN Enabled' PlayStation 3 console.

The feature people have been waiting for, Packages served from PC to PS3, with no messing around editing xml etc. It could well be a game changer..literally!! pink1 said:
What does it do?
- Scans the program folder for pkg's, extracts the icons & creates a package_link.xml.
- Creates a pkg with a package_link.xml to remove the need for putting a new xml on the usb.
- Patches category_game.xml to...
