News from PSPFanboy
1UP sat down with Loco Roco's director Tsutomu Kuono to chat about the behind-the-scenes action of the game and how a perky yellow blob gets cast as the star of a buzz-worthy title. One of the most interesting bits of the video involves Kuono's quick explanation for the game's title, which apparently was inspired by the two primary buttons used in the game, the Left and Right triggers. Like all strange and potentially gimmicky ideas, Kuono initially had a hard time convincing anyone Loco Roco was worth making. Fortunately, this was all a part of the refinement process, and now the game is on the verge of raising everyone's Seratonin levels.
"I wanted to make a crazy, stupid game!" Said Kuono. Dang, that makes me want this game even more.

PSMonkey has posted an Easter Hunt of sorts, heres the newspost from his site:

Happy Easter everybody. To celebrate the holiday I desided to do a little easter hunt.
Through out the day, I will post new screenshots regarding the current progress of Monkey64 (so check back freqently). "Eh?" you say? Wasn't I on break?
Well yes I was. Yet that did not stop me from doing a few things here and there on the emu. Not major. Just felt bored on wendsday durring lunch so tried a few things. As well also a little work on saturday (my only day off from work this week due to milestones). While mario64 is still not working (and still my top priority), a few other games have started to improve. So how does this hunt play out? Well it's simple. I will be hiding new screenshots once and a while in old post (not my post but any random post). They will all be in the archive section.
First one to find the screenshot is to report back here (with a link to the post) where they will be credited for the find. So check here first to see what has been found before you go off on the hunt.
First shot goes up soon. Good luck.

Head on over to his site for more info.

News from PSPVault
We have an update on the "Bluetake i-PHONE mini BT450Px Bluetooth Stereo Pod Transmitter." According to Bluetake Japan, they will be releasing the PSP-compatible, wireless audio transmitter later this month. It will begin selling at a price of $63 and will allow you to take advantage of your Bluetooth headphones for 3-10 meters of wireless music. Weighing at only 30g, you can pop it on, put the PSP in your bag, and listen to your music without the cords. Oh, and it's got it's own battery, so it won't drain the PSP's. Pretty sweet, I can't wait to see how it develops!

Rockstar Games has confirmed that the PS2 port of Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories has been pushed back to the end of May, and the actual release date could be even later than that. No details have been given for the delay, but with Table Tennis due out on May 26, Rockstar is probably just busy putting a final coat of polish on the ping pong balls. How many owners of the PSP Liberty City Stories are planning to buy the new console version, even if it has a Greatest Hits price, and no additional content?

Art, one of our Forum Members has updated his X-Flash App for the PSP, Heres the details and whats new:

X-Flash is a firmware modification program written primarily for my own use. I wanted a way to quickly apply newly discovered firmware hacks, and to automate the process of customising any new 1.50 PSP units that I might purchase in the future. Not all of the firmware modifications performed by this program are my own, but I use all of these modifications permanently on my own PSP units. The X-Flash program has followed a logical progression, and now features some firmware tools that I did not consider when I started the program."
Heres whats New:
* Fixed version 13.37 spoofer to work with three languages (English, French, and German).
* Menu option for "Disable Wave Effect" is now called "Toggle Wave Effect".
* Menu option for "Disable Network Update" is now "Toggle Network Update Capability". X_Flash detects your PSP's current setting, and performs the opposite action each time the option is applied.
* Flash writes for these features are now verified.
* The "Custom XMB Menu Label" feature now only changes the label of the 'Game' folder, although the routine can be expanded to change other labels.
* The option to disable network update automaticaly labels the icon "Disabled".
* Flash writes for the "Custom XMB Menu Label" feature are now verified.
* There are nine selections for replacement Game icon labels (scroll sideways).
* New basic checking for invalid background file types, invalid font file types, and other error conditions at startup.

News from 1UP
The Lowdown: Doukutsu Monogatari -- aka Cave Story -- is one of the biggest underground successes in recent years. A free amateur game from Japan, Cave Story has quietly spread its charming 8-bit looks and brilliant but challenging Symphony of the Night-style action to gamers the world over. And now it may be coming to the PSP as an official release.
The Obstacles: There are a few logistical problems facing a PSP conversion of Cave Story, unfortunately. It was originally released for free on PC, and Sony may be loathe to publish a game that can be acquired freely elsewhere. Especially one with such simple graphics. Worse, the game's creator seems averse to the notion of his creation being distributed for a price. But if these issues can be smoothed over, this could be one of the PSP's greatest moments.

April 15th, 2006, 12:33 Posted By: wraggster
While much of the gaming world is focused on the PlayStation 3, Sony may divert attention back to the current generation of gaming by the end of the month.
An analyst's note, issued Wednesday, predicts the company will cut PlayStation 2 prices from $149 to $129 by the end of April.
Sony could cut PS2 prices by the end of April.
Many analysts expected Sony (Research) to announce a PS2 price cut at E3, the annual trade show of the video game industry. But Colin Sebastian, senior research analyst for Lazard Capital Markets, said a move this month, coupled with last month's quiet price drop for the PSP handheld device (from $249 to $199), will allow the company to go into E3 with momentum and allow the focus to be solely on the PS3.
"In our opinion, hardware price cuts are necessary not only to drive demand at the end of a console cycle, but also to bring the current-generation consoles within reach of more value-oriented customers," wrote Sebastian.
A Sony spokesperson declined to comment, saying the company does not address "rumors and speculation".
A Sony price cut would likely be matched immediately by Microsoft (Research), which would lower the price of the original Xbox. However, since that company's focus is laser focused on its next generation machine - the Xbox 360 - it could result in some interesting moves.
Traditionally, price cuts are matched. So, when Sony goes to $129, Microsoft follows (or vice versa). Microsoft, however, has greatly de-emphasized the original Xbox since the 360's launch – and, by some reports, is no longer manufacturing the original machine. If so, it doesn't have much to lose and may try to one-up Sony, in an attempt to gain its own momentum going into E3. That could, conceivably, mean a new Xbox price of $99.
"Microsoft could do something like that just to make it a little more interesting, but I have no read on what Microsoft is going to do," Sebastian told me.
Whatever Microsoft's reaction, it might be a bit harder for consumers to capitalize on it. Supplies of the Xbox have declined considerably and a drastic price cut could make it a hard-to-find item.
A PS2 price cut could be a welcome shot in the arm for the gaming industry, which has seen revenues decline steadily in the recent months. (February software sales were down 13 percent compared to the 2005 numbers. Analysts expect the March numbers to show an even bigger gap.)
Increased hardware sales tend to boost software sales – and Sony recently cut the price on some of its biggest PS2 games, including "God of War" and "Gran Turismo 4" to $19.99. Third party publishers, though, might find additional pressure to lower the price of their current generation games. Electronic Arts (Research), the leading independent publisher, was forced to reduce the price of several games, including seminal favorite "Madden" in January. Take Two Interactive Software (Research) also recently cut the price of its hit title "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas".
