Sting has put up a promotional video for their third iteration of Riviera: The Promised Land. It's on amazon, and the direct link is here. It lets you see the resized graphics and nicer portraits - and to be honest the battle effects do look nicer. But it also shows you the pitiful voice acting, and reminds you it's just the same game as before. Personally I think Sting's time would be better spent on something new...the GBA remake made sense, as not many people played the WSC version, but I think a PSP remake is overkill. I guess the GBA version did sell out quickly though... regardless, the official site is here.

This is what Henry had to say:
I’ve got a new update for CWCheat! Here’s what’s new:
• Removed the ‘update cheat.db’ button from the Tools tab. CWCheat
will automatically update the database upon loading an older one.
• Added a new ‘Update cheat.db’ button. This one connects to the
CWCheat Server and retrieves the latest cheat.db file straight from
the source.
• Added menu items.
And coming soon in v0.4:
• Universal Binary release
• Replace the Tools tab with a Submit tab, allowing you to directly
submit cheats to the main cwcheat server.
• Add a preferences window, for things like auto-sorting, auto-
loading, auto updating, etc.

Yesterday i recieved a new update to the progression of the unreleased PS1 Emulator for the PSP called PS1P, heres the news from the Anonymous Coder:
- Fullscreen. Looks just beautiful I cut a small slice at the top & bottom of the PS1 screen to reduce the distortion. Most games look perfectly fine since a real TV would also cut parts of the display.
- Several speed optimizations--should be noticeably faster.
- More compatibility--I can get past the car in FF8 now
Note that the GPU is still in software and there's no dynarec yet either.
No release date is know as of yet but you never know when a release will happen, as before DCEmu is the only place to get this news so if you see some faker posting that its gonna be released at such a time youll know its a lie.
Anyway i got a new beta to test

PspFanatic has released a new Lua Golf game for the PSP. heres the details:
*UPDATE*
Ok now if you've seen my first release of this homebrew than you obviouslly know that the gfx were horrible. Not anymore. with some help from ikarius the gfx are looking pretty good. I also edit the bg color while playing and I made the hole and ball round instead of square. I also got the ball to move smoother and a bit quicker when you hit it.
Okay this is my VERY first attempt at coding. Its a mini putt game with 8 holes. Its not amazing but it took me a week just to make it so be nice!
Heres the controls
Analog stick- Moves the direction you want the ball to go
X- Hits the ball
Start- Exits game

Ace Combat fans will be excited by the new (highly promotional) preview of the upcoming PSP-exclusive Ace Combat X on IGN. They reveal some of the features, such as the Medal System, Color Variation and Free Mission. The mini games listed include Touch and Go, Mid-Air Refueling Practice and Carrier Touch & Go. While it doesn't sound too exciting to me, I'm sure those of you that were fascinated by planes will be absolutely enthralled.
If you don't really feel like reading about these features, IGN has also posted two new trailers of the game in motion. Graphically, it looks impressive, but it seems like that's a given for most PSP games these days. The game comes out in October.

ubergeek42 has released a new version of PS2IRC, heres the release details:
v0.8 released
Added colors, and made it display some status changes that it didn't display in earlier versions(kicks/title changes/maybe some others...)
the main feature is the colors for each name, makes it easier to read stuff from the sea of white that is usually there.
I plan on making all the colors customiziable, except for name colors, because they are automatically generated based on the persons name.
im sure some of the colors will end up being really lame, so if you don't like it go to a previous version(aka v7). i plan on adding an global options menu to control the colors, as well as whether or not to show the onscreen keyboard(waste of space if you are using a usb keyboard), and maybe some other things.
ill try and get some new screenshots up showing this color stuff in a little while.

News from PSPVault
Sony Computer Entertainment has opened the official site for Chotto Shot, the video/imaging editing software included with the upcoming PSP camera accessory.
Here's the site:
http://www.jp.playstation.com/scej/title/cshot/
You'll need to disable pop-up blockers as the site will pop up in a new window. It looks like it's still under construction, but there's a decent amount of content so that you can sample how cool the Chotto Shot software should be when it's released next month.

News from the official site:
In the Good News for 0.9.2! post, made on 16th August, Refraction hinted at progress being made with the audio side of PCSX2, as many of you will of guessed - the clip posted was from Final Fantasy X, more importantly from an FMV, which in all previous versions of PCSX2 had no audio (99% of the time).
To elaborate on this further; GiGaHeRz and Saqib have fixed large portions of ADMA support, allowing for all videos to have audio and many games now have full background music!
Alittle work has been done by Saqib today which allows for audio and video sync when recording, so I can demonstrate with a small video (xVid) - the results of their hardwork.

Via PSM3:
Alreet, Nathan here on Friday that turned into one of the best days to work on PSM3. Not only have we secured the most exciting reviews issue since the dawn of PS2 (we can't say much, but we've got at least three of the best games to hit the stores this year and a world exclusive of an absolute gem on PSP) but the good folk from Sony popped into the office with a fully working PS3! Don't believe us? Then check this out...

Well, I'm obviously not the only one working on this. Here is the first public version of my PSP port of Wolfenstein 3D. It is a port of the SDL
wolf3d-20011028 snapshot by Steven Fuller.
You can get it at: PSP Wolf 3D site or I've attached it below.
I was working on a FPS shooter that was like Wolf3D anyway, so I figured why not.
Here are the key bindings:
* select - escape
* start - enter
* triangle - space (opens doors)
* circle - 'Y'
* square - backspace
* cross - control (fire)
* arrows do forward, back, turn left, turn right
* ltrigger - right shift (run)
* rtrigger - alt (strafe)
It is possible to remap the keys to your liking (under control -> customize controls), and I encourage you to try that.
Still to come:
- build of Spear of Destiny
- builds of full versions of Wolfenstein and SOD
- sound (support lifted from the s60 cell phone version not yet working
for me)
- fill more of the screen with the game
- possible onscreen keyboard for game saves/loads
Thanks to all of my beta testers on DCEmu for taking the time to write to me with suggestions: Ben Slater, Acidburn, Malksta.

Hia Guys, and welcome to my 7th release of TTR!
First of all, i'd like to point out that this is now a joint project split between me and psp_bling, i do the code and he does... everything else, lol. So, a massive thanks to my new partner, PSP_Bling, for everything he's done so far and everything he'll continue to do! Lets look at some screenshots of his work:
Doesn't it look wonderful?
I would also like to aplogize for the constant release... one after the other... but just because it ddn't take very long to relese doesn't mean it doesn't have anything new or good in it, in this version we have added a whole new game mode and a load of other things! read on to find out more.
Anyways, now that we've go that out of the way, its time to go over what's new it TTR v0.7, and this ones quite a big release, since there has been a whole new game mode added!
Yup, you read it right, and the difficulty levels, terrains, and everything works across both game modes! there is however, one slight problem, which is that the new game - Which is called Intersection - only currently supports one car, which we intend to change on other versions.
On top of that, this version also includes many, many more features, such as a screenshot system that uses only the L button to take anything up to 5 screenshots, and when all slots are full then it will simply overwrite the first one again. It may not be the perfect screenshot system, but its good enough for me, lol. Also, with the new game being added, there comes with it a new but buggy feature, the statistic manager, which can be accessed VIA the options menu. In the statistic manager you can view both of your highscores, one for rally one for intersection, and you can also view other various things such as How many times you've seen the credits, and the option to replay the one time intro screens.
Yep, those intro screens are still there, and are just as vital, so please read 'em!
Now for a brief overview of what exactly 'Intersection' is.. Intersection is a new game mode, based on the old one, in which your at an intersection on a motorway, cars are coming in every direction. its the same idea, with a new twist. your job is to dodge all the oncoming cars while being aware of where the others are, and this game is a lot harder than it sounds... try it out and see what I mean
Also, the easter egg from v0.6 has been removed, and for those who didn't find it in v0.6 then ill tell you, it was in the credits, and that competition ends tommorow, no more entrys will be accepted.
So, just to wrap it all up, heres whats new in TTR v0.7
- Intersection Game Mode
- Intersection Highscore (Seperate from rally)
- Better Screenshot System
- New graphics, again thanks to psp_bling
- new look eboot, thanks to psp bling
- Terrain Selection Bug Fixed
- Faster Loading times
- loads of little bugs that you spotted were fixed...
- Slightly bigger files, but the images are smaller from last release (doesn't take a brainiac to work out that its gonna get bigger with new features, lol...)
not bad for a prject that only took about 10 days to release, eh?
Anyways, i hope you enjoy playing the game, but please post your comments, because they are always appreciated!

September 30th, 2006, 16:20 Posted By: wraggster
Ok its time to publically put to bed some rumours regarding PS1P and Yoshis PSXP emulator.
DCEmu did not aim to bring down Yoshihiros Playstation emulator by starting the GPL Debate, the issue was brought to the attention of 2 staff members who are indeed respected Dreamcast Scene coders, they reported their findings and posted that the emulator wasnt legal without the Source released, the files were took down at that time, later i removed that newspost and reinstalled the files.
Now later that day members of the PCSX team contacted me and asked to take down the files until the source was released and also asked me to contact PSP3D and QJ to ask them also. The PCSX Team had informed me that they had tried but couldnt contact Yoshihiro etc.
Anyway thats that now PS1P was supposed to be given to me to announce before the release of Yoshihiro`s emulator. So for anyone reading please listen, we are fully behind the Yoshihiro PSOne emulator (obviously if the source is GPL it must be released), we will post all news and fully promote the emulator and im sure everyone will enjoy it. We also thank the French PSP-Generation site for being the home of the emulator.
So finally we are here to promote both PS1 emulators for the PSP and infact any future ones.
Hopefully this will stop the theorys going around.

Another Commercial game demo for the PSP via PSPfanboy
We knew it was only going to be a matter of time before the downloadable game demos from Tokyo Game Show found their way onto the internet for all of us to enjoy. The latest demo for you to download to the system is Ape Escape Racer. Although it didn't get the best previews, this demo will let you make your own decision on the quality of the game. This updated file will work on firmware 2.80 and above.

Have fun with Bounty Hounds, the arcade shooter from Namco Bandai. This demo requires firmware 2.80 and above. Once you're done playing, give us your opinion. Is it different from what the critics think? The game is now available in stores.
To play the demo, download the file. Then, connect your PSP, navigate to PSP/GAME and create the folder ULJS00021. Put the EBOOT file into the folder and voila!
