A Sony Computer Entertainment Europe executive has said that he expects Gran Turismo 5 to come out "this fall, before Christmas", while confessing the release date is "not yet decided".
The comments come from James Armstrong, boss of SCEE's Portuguese arm, in an interview with Spanish site Canarias Al Dia. They were spotted by GT Planet.
It was Armstrong who originally suggested that GT5 would be out in late 2009, a position held by Sony right up until a March 2010 Japanese release date was announced at last year's Tokyo Game Show. A summer Western release was mooted before the Japanese launch was delayed.
A new release date has yet to be given for the PS3's motorsport opus, so it's disappointing but hardly surprising to see Gran Turismo 5 heading towards the end of the year.
GT5 has now been in development for five years at a cost, according to creator Kazunori Yamauchi, of of some $60 million.

If EA is planning to release a PS3 version of Mass Effect 2, it's keeping schtum.
CVG checked in with the publisher this afternoon to ask if it was keen on releasing a PS3 version of the game, and all we got was a short, sharp: "No comment on that one." Delivered in a polite manner, we may add.
The comment comes after Polish site Kikoo claimed that there is some source code of the PC version of the game that suggests a PS3 iteration has been created.
So the PS3 version's not officially alive, but it's not officially dead. Doesn't do anything for the anxiety, hey PS3 fans?

Sony's PlayStation Network-exclusive reality series "The Tester" will begin February 18th. The competition will have the above real gamers vying for a chance to win a glamorous testing job at PlayStation. Until April 8th, the PlayStation Store (for PSP and PS3) will update every Thursday with new -- and free -- episodes of the series.
Should "The Tester" successfully sidestep traditional employee recruitment and take off, don't be surprised if Sony announces "Who Wants to be Our Janitor?" next season.

With all eyes on Final Fantasy XIII Square's been a little quiet with the incoming spin-off, Final Fantasy Versus XIII. Not for much longer though - more info should with us this month.
According to Sony, the developer wants to show off more of the game within the next few weeks. According to PS Blog man Jeff Rubenstein, "They're eager to get some posts on the blog in February", about the game.
Versus XIII is a completely separate story from FFXIII, which is out on March 9, but set in the same universe. Its release is still totally up in the air.

Q Entertainment is having a good hard think about whether to bring Rez HD to PlayStation Network.
That's according to the company's Twitter page, where the following message was posted: "What would a game like Rez HD sell for on PSN? $15? This is no indication that it's happening, but we're researching if its feasible."
Those who like the sound of that idea might want to register their interest as another message reads, "This isn't something we need to do, or will necessarily develop. I'm doing some informal polling to take back to our bizdev ppl."
Rez HD was released on Xbox Live back in January 2008, priced at £6.80. Like the PS2 original it was a hit with the critics, scoring 10/10 on Eurogamer.

News/release from suloku
I've never used any HB sorter app, but today I finally wanted to and I was very happy to find homebrew sorter GUI beta 2 by Valentin which supported game categories plugin and had a nice GUI.
But with a homebrew count of 100 (max is 500 if anyone wonders) sorting categories was a little...everlasting. Also when it came up with an old 1.50 style homebrew it crashed (trying to load the icon from a data.psar file named eboot.pbp I think).
So I thought: "Man, this is screaming a per category sorting and some fixes". Happily open source is our friend, so now that I have the app to my linking, I'm sharing it with the comunity.
Suloku 2010
___________
Beta 3 changelog:
- Support for 1.50 hombrew in folder+folder% style. (__SCE__ naming style already supported)
- Added ability to sort homebrew by category. A new menu appears for selecting category to edit.
- Added option "View all" that works as beta 2, but the category name is displayed like "Category: homebrew".
- If there are no categories, View All is automagically run.
- Added check for eboot.pbp file presence (if no eboot.pbp, the folder won't appear).
- Minor graphic changes (including eboot's icon).

Um, okay? Just days after Apple introduced its exceedingly underwhelming iPad while simultaneously attempting to convince that masses that said product was the portable gaming device they had been waiting their whole lives for, Sony's own hardware marketing honcho has come forward and extolled Cupertino's decision to finally make the gaming leap. In a recent interview, John stated the following:
"Apple's entrance into the portable gaming space has been a net positive for Sony. When people want a deeper, richer console, they start playing on a PSP."
While we can't seem to shake the suspicion that Mr. Koller is drawing links that probably don't exist (at least fully) in reality, research firm NPD does show that sales of the PSP have "nearly tripled since the iPhone went on sale in June 2007." Of course, it's not like the PSP has gained functionality, become the home of more than a few killer titles and spawned a UMD-less sibling since the heydays of '07, but hey -- who are we to question the suit?

Remember the pink haired girl from Gust’s New Year’s card? She’s a character created just for the PSP version of Atelier Judie: Alchemist of Gramnad. Since she has amnesia we don’t know the new character’s name.
Atelier Judie begins with an alchemy accident. After a goof up, Judie is sent 200 years into the future and her goal is to get home. Whether she achieves it or not is up to you since the Atelier games tend to be non-linear. Aside from optimizing the graphics for the PSP’s wider screen, Gust expanded the ever changing Phacta Temple. In the expanded PSP port, this dungeon is twice as big.
Atelier Judie: Alchemist of Gramnad is scheduled for April 8 in Japan. Since we missed out on the original game, Atelier Judie would be a brand new title for North America if NIS America picks it up.

We certainly didn't see this coming. While it may seem strange to doubt the release of another Disgaea game, Disgaea Infinite is not what you might expect. No, it's not a SRPG. It's not even a platformer. Instead, it's a visual novel game -- an interactive story-based adventure, akin to the Phoenix Wright series. According to a press release, this will be NIS America's first visual novel published in America.
Disgaea Infinite promises to keep the same over-the-top humor the franchise is known for. Players will assume the role of a Prinny on the hunt for an assassin trying to take down the demon Laharl. With the power to take over other characters minds and bodies, Prinny will be able to solve this almost-murder mystery. Expect it on PSP this May.

Square Enix's role-playing game Final Fantasy XIII is a PlayStation 3 game (and an Xbox 360 game!). But at one time, the game was running on the PS2.
Early artwork and screens have been published in two new books from Square Enix, giving insight into the game's design process. These test version images pre-date E3 2006, when the game was announced, and thus, are logically running on the PS2.
The art direction is different than that which appeared in the final product, and the character models look to be stand-ins for the test version. The battle user-interface, however, doesn't look that different.

Star Wars: Battlefront III may have been binned, but we've heard from sources that the series lives on, in the form of currently-in-pre-production Battlefront Online.
The game, for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, is currently being worked on by both Lucasarts and Slant Six Games, the studio responsible for SOCOM Confrontation and SOCOM Fire Team Bravo 3.
The title is still in pre-production, so there's no guarantee that we'll ever hear more of it – Battlefront having become somewhat of a cursed property after the recent demise of original developers Pandemic and buy-out of BFIII developers Free Radical – but Lucasarts' insistence on getting a Battlefront game made in spite of all that gives us hope. A...New Hope, even (sorry).
Battlefront Online is, as the name suggests, planned to be online-only, and is tentatively slated to appear in 2011.
Whether this game was the source of that "Battlefront IV" concept art that turned up last year is unknown, but our sources tell us that it is the source of those voice actor rumours from December.

Konami's upcoming PSP title Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker has been delayed over a month.
The game was originally penciled in for March 18 in Japan, but will not be released on April 29. The Western release dates will not be affected: the game will still be released on May 27 in Europe (May 28 in the UK) and on May 25 in the US.
According to Konami, the game has been delayed as additional time is needed to make final modifications so that the title meets consumer satisfaction.
Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima has previously called Peace Walker a "MGS5 class" game.

Codemasters has cancelled work on inXile Entertainment's bank job-themed action game Heist, confirming that it plans to concentrate most of its efforts on internal development.
As reported by CVG, the publisher canned the project as it is apparently committed to 'high quality titles'. Set in San Francisco in 1969, the game was originally slated for a late-2007 release.
A Codemasters spokesperson told CVG: "After a much extended development period, Heist has been terminated as a project and removed from our release schedule."
"Codemasters is focusing its future portfolio on high quality titles that will, in the majority, be developed and produced by our internal studios."
According to CVG, Codemasters has a number of high-profile game announcements confirmed for the coming months.

Sony's PS3 'wand' is expected out this autumn (after being delayed from spring), and a report from Nikkei Newspaper in Japan says 10 games will support the device in 2010.
According to the report, titles will range from pet sims to sports, which sounds too much like the catalogue of a certain other console for our liking.
Sony itself has named several games that will get motion support including, as Kotaku notes, Ape Escape, Echochrome, Eccentric Slider, Sing and Draw, Champions of Time, Motion Party, The Shoot, Tower and Under Siege all due this year.
LittleBigPlanet and Resident Evil 5 Alternate Edition have also been shown using the new gadgets, although motion support in the western version of Resi 5 is uncertain.
We'd be happy to see even half of these out here before Christmas.
