SEGA's stamped a 12th March date on the European version of Yakuza 3.
It's been available in Japan for a while, but to Westerners this will be our first taste of the series on PS3.
You can catch-up with our Japanese import review of Yakuza 3 to find out more.
Meanwhile, Japan warms up for Yakuza 4, which will also be released in March. SEGA doesn't appear to have iterated on much on the Yakuza 3 engine and formula but has dreamt up a new story instead.

Crytek's forthcoming multiformat sequel to Crysis is reportedly set in New York City, according to the latest US issue of Official PlayStation Magazine.
The mag's editor tweeted the front cover, which talks up the new city setting, under attack by aliens.
EA recently told investors that Crysis 2 would be released before the end of March 2011, and a recent US PC Gamer preview listed the game for "Dec 2010".
You can check out a video of the new Nanosuiton Eurogamer TV, or pop over to our Digital Foundry channel for an exploration of the technical possibilities on console.
EA and Crytek announced last year that the game would be released for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.

Sony Corporation is making a concentrated push to bring 3D entertainment to the home in 2010, with it's technology applied to games such as LittleBigPlanet, Gran Turismo 5 and MotorStorm: Pacific Rift already impressing advocates of the format.
Firmware updates will add 3D gaming capabilities to the PlayStation 3 and 3D movie functionality to the Blu-ray player later this year, and alongside the launch of its own dedicated 3D TV channel, and the success of the billion dollar Avatar movie, 2010 could be a break though year for the format.
"3D is an added thing and it hits every division that Sony has got," said Andrew Oliver, chief technical officer at Blitz Games, speaking in an interview published today. "Sony is really pinning its hopes on the world wanting 3D and everybody is basking in the glory of Avatar."
Sony used CES earlier this month to show off LittleBigPlanet, Gran Turismo 5, Major League Baseball, MotorStorm: Pacific Rift and Wipeout to the crowds, along with other tech from the entire Sony electronics division.
"The Sony stand was big with 3D games. They had an enormous stand with a theatre at one end and cinema projectors that are made by Sony, movie cameras made by Sony and they were showing Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs – a Sony ImageWorks film – in 3D, they had a Blu-ray player playing 3D film and then the PlayStation 3's were showing various games," detailed Oliver. "They looked absolutely stunning."
A standard format for 3D and the glasses required to view it has been adopted by all TV manufacturers, putting an end to early signs of a format war that could have hampered the adoption of 3D in the home, and fears that viewing 3D can be uncomfortable for the user are fading, said Oliver.
"3D isn't being done badly any more. You do it right and everyone loves it. Everyone feels that they don't need to keep trying to convince people now, it's been done for us with Avatar.
"The TVs have got one good standard which is perfect and exactly what we want and what the film companies want. Every TV manufacturer is bringing out a 3D model and there's no talk of 'what if it gives you a headache'. If you can watch a three hour film you've passed the test."
Blitz has already released one game in 3D, the digital download title Invincible Tiger, and Oliver revealed that the company has now signed off on a big new contract currently under wraps.
"We have agreed a very big 3D deal which is very good for us," he confirmed. "There are some people out there who really want to push 3D but I think when it comes to more general publishers, CES and the Avatar film will have turned a lot of heads."

Today Sony Computer Entertainment America announced the domestic release of the game previously known as One Million Ton Bara Bara, now known as Patchwork Heroes, an original action puzzle game for the PlayStation Portable.
So what is Patchwork Heroes? A game about destroying massive sky ships, tearing them apart piece by piece, and, you know, saving the world. And it will come to PSPs in North America this spring via the PlayStation Network as a digital download.
The game comes from developer Acquire, responsible for the similarly interesting and quirky Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman! series. We'll obviously keep an eye on Patchwork Heroes to see if the PSP game will be worth the download.

News/release from anmabagima
Hi there,
I've always got very good support in this community and I guess it's time to give something back ;o)
I've seen that there are very often always the same steps needed to get started with a homebrew...As I'm using objec oriented C to develop I've created a "hombrew common" library which provides base classes doing most of the initialization stuff which from my point of view is common to the most homebrews. It's my first "release" and I would still see myself as newbie - so if you have any suggestions, please do not hesitate to provide valuable feedback )
Hope you enjoy
However, enough words...
Here is the link to the library and header files:
http://psp.anmabagima.de/__oneclick_...brewcommon.zip
The library was created using eclipse and minimalist PSPSDK on windows. I'm not sure if it works with cygwin as well.
To use this you could simply extract the zip file to the pspsdk folder:

God of War III may end a trilogy, but Sony Santa Monica's not putting the series to bed.
"This is not the end of God of War," John Hight, studio bigwig, stated to Gamervision (via G4TV). "This is definitely the end of the trilogy, but we're [going to] continue to do God of War games.
"We're [going to] be very careful about what we do. We're the keepers of the franchise and we don't want to see it ruined or polluted."
A new God of War instalment may take a new tack and perhaps Kratos has seen his last outing - although what's left to plunder of Greek mythology we're not sure, as even world-shaping Titans are not safe from the Blades of Chaos.
God of War III, a PS3 exclusive, will be released in Europe in March. A specific date is yet to be announced.

EA's keen to expand hit Wii exercise game EA Sports Active onto PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
European bigwig Dr Jens Uwe Intat wouldn't say how, but by putting two and two together - the motion-sensing requirements of the game and Microsoft and Sony's new motion sensors - a release for Natal and the PS3 wand, possibly called Arc, seems likely.
"What we are actually going to do is certainly continue to work with EA Sports Active on the Wii, and we'll also try to extend that to the other two platforms in order to broaden our activity in that space," Dr Intat told GamesIndustry.biz.
"How we will work on that specifically, and what type of software and for what type of hardware, we'll announce in the future."
Intat did not mention plans to support the Wii Vitality Sensor, despite being asked directly about the device.
In EA Sports Active, EA had achieved the Holy Grail by making a third-party game that sold serious quantities on Wii. The game provides a high-octane workout and coaches owners from fat to fit in the style of a personal trainer. Even weighted straps are thrown in to make life more difficult.

Oh Sony, you just like to tease us, don't you? Two weeks after a brief mention at CES, Japan's been given the introductory taste of this tech giant's first ever TransferJet wireless Memory Stick. Meanwhile, Sony Style US has quietly added the same card for pre-order at $99.99 and cites February 8th as the possible launch date -- a slight delay from Sony's promised January launch. If the party's big enough, this TransferJet close-proximity radio technology could signal the death of cables and bulky card readers, but you'll still need compatible devices to work that magic on this memory stick. Sony will sure need more than just a few cameras to get us to make-dot-believe in this new ecosystem.

Dead or Alive is headed to PSP in the form of Dead or Alive Paradise, a continuation of the massively pervy Volleyball series (sorry, no fighting).
Like previous DOA perv-em-up titles, Paradise focuses on volleyball, gambling, a crap-ton of swimsuits and taking pictures of girls wearing very little.
Kasumi, Risa, Hitomi and Rio (and their wobs) will all be appearing in the game, reveals the latest issue of Famitsu (via Kotaku), which will apparently include the ability to play your own music from the PSP's memory stick.
DoA Paradise will be released in Japan on April 2, 2010 bundled with a special Kasumi figurine... to perv over.

Sony has confirmed that the PlayStation 3 motion controller has been delayed from spring and will now be launched in the autumn this year.
The company promises an "extensive line-up" of software and a worldwide release in North America, Europe, Japan and the Asian regions.
"We have decided to release the Motion Controller in fall 2010 when we will be able to offer an exciting and varied line-up of software titles that will deliver the new entertainment experience to PS3 users," offered Kaz Hirai, president and group CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment.
"We will continue to work to have a comprehensive portfolio of attractive and innovative games for the Motion Controller, not only from SCE Worldwide Studios but also from the third party developers and publishers, whom we have been working closely with.
He added: "We look forward to soon unveiling the exciting software line-up that further expand and define the PS3 platform as the ultimate entertainment system for the home."
A fall release puts the PlayStation 3 peripheral much closer to Microsoft's tentative release for Project Natal, due this "holiday".
The PS3 motion controller was originally due for release in spring when announced at E3. Rumours suggest that the device will go by the official name of Arc when released, but Sony has so far declined to comment.
The PS3 motion controller will require the PlayStation Eye camera peripheral to work.

January 20th, 2010, 01:40 Posted By: wraggster
For many, 2009 was the year Sony started turning things around: the PS3 finally dropped to an affordable price with an ad campaign that didn't give children nightmares. However, Gamasutra's Matt Matthews points out that in terms of revenue, 2009 is one of the worst years for the company. Whereas Sony was able to generate $6.4 billion in revenue from its family of PlayStation products in 2008, the company was only able to rake in $5.1 billion in 2009 -- that's a drop of $1.3 billion, or 20 percent.
While Microsoft and Nintendo also shed some revenue in the difficult economic climate, their losses seem insignificant in comparison: about $200 million each. Matthews notes that a large portion of Sony's lost revenue in 2009 comes from sagging sales of its decade-old PS2 platform. The (understandable) lack of software sales on the PS2 resulted in the loss of approximately $700 million in revenue, while hardware sales have contracted another $150 million.
The PSP also had a difficult year, and it appears the PSP Go hasn't turned around Sony's fortunes. According to Gamasutra's analysis, hardware and software sales on Sony's handheld shrank by about $425 million in 2009. With the demise of the PS2, and the languishing state of the PSP, Sony's former dominance of the market seems but a memory.

January 19th, 2010, 23:18 Posted By: wraggster
Sony's Minis have got off to a good start since they were launched alongside the PSPgo and the PlayStation 3, but the format holder will need to continue improving and marketing the service if it is to be a success, according to developers for the platform.
The introduction of the bite-sized downloadable PSP titles to the PlayStation 3 at the end of last year was a welcome move for developers, which instantly multiplied their potential market. An anticipated Japanese launch is also hoped will help push the format.
But that alone won't be enough to make them a complete success, according to several studios. Sony will also need to improve in a numbers of ways - in its marketing of Minis, by fixing technical issues such as transferring save files and offering online functionality, and in its support of the development community.
"Allowing Minis to have greater online access – leaderboards, multiplayer - would help to improve the service," said Shainiel Deo, CEO of Australia-based studio Halfbrick, which has released several games for the service, including Blast Off.
"Being able to share save data between the PSP and PS3 in a more seamless way would also improve the customer experience."
Additionally, the issue of piracy on PSP needs to be addressed, said Alex Aktion of Beatshapers, the studio behind the games BreakQuest and MelodyBloxx.
"The platform is viable," he says. "The problem is that the PSP audience won't pay much. It's way better than it was three years ago but still not enough. There are some reasons for non paying - including piracy and no credit card."
Experiences with Sony's marketing teams are mixed - with some happy with the levels of communication but others reporting problems.
One developer who wished to remain anonymous said his studio had received little support. "Sony doesn't help us promote our titles at all," he said, adding that the press only learn about which Minis are scheduled to launch from developers themselves, and not from Sony.
And the publisher is severely lacking in its promotion of the service, he continued. "Most of the people I know - and they work in the games industry - have never heard about [Minis]. I can imagine how it is with people who don't work in the industry."
Others though are more positive. Sony has done a reasonable job of promoting the PSP digital service, said Deo, and while no official information on the timing of Minis is sent by Sony to the press, it should ultimately be the developer's responsibility to promote and market their games prior to launch.
"Sonys certification process for Minis is very straightforward so you can fairly accurately predict when your title will be released. The communication lines with Sony's content teams are clear and developers are given plenty of notice when their games will go live," he points out.
"Getting promotional trailers and screenshots to the press is not difficult. The only issue that Halfbrick has found is getting preview builds in front of reviewers due to DRM and technical issues. This is not a problem post release as Sony provide promotional tokens for developers to distribute to the press."
Aktion backs up this sentiment too, saying that Sony advises developers on how they can increase sales using marketing tools.
Drawing on experience, he says that Beatshapers spent significant time sending press releases and review code to online media prior to the release of its first title. "As a result we had about 20 reviews in the first month. This took some time to promote but it's not impossible at all. Developers have to care – that's it."
Deo agrees the platform works, and he also predicted the Minis service will gain ground considerably in 2010.
"If you've got a decent game and you market it well then the platform is certainly viable, especially with the introduction of being able to play Minis on the PS3. The service is still relatively new, so it isn't as crowded as the iPhone App Store and discoverability for our games is still high.
"I'm confident that we'll be seeing an increased marketing push by Sony for Minis in 2010 as the service ramps up," he added.

The ESRB has given Quantic Dream's Heavy Rain an M for Mature rating, explaining the game's drug use, violence, horror, and sexual situations in ridiculous detail. Needless to say, spoilers ahead.
Here's the obligatory paragraph I put in between the lead and the actual rating listing, in order to make sure no one accidentally reads more than they want to and then blames me for ruining the game, global warming, and their parents never really loving them. I just like to make sure my ass is covered, generally with something soft and cottony.
Much of what the ESRB reveals in its expansive rating description we've already seen. We know about the stripping at least, and some of the scenes described have been seen, at least in some part, in various gameplay trailers fluttering around the internet. That having been said, the description does contain bits you'll probably want to experience for yourself. Consider this warning paragraph 3.
If you do decide to read ahead, I think it helps if you imagine the poor ESRB ratings representative who had to sit through all of this, taking notes. One hopes that he or she enjoyed themselves, but you can almost feel them squirming uncomfortably.

via Eurogamer
Sony has revealed a stereoscopic 3D version of hit PS3 game LittleBigPlanet .
A video demonstration was shown at MotorStorm developer Evolution Studios yesterday, along with a range of other developmental demos. Attendees enjoyed two playable samplers in the form of the magnificent Super Stardust HD and a 3D demo of Motorstorm: Pacific Rift.
LittleBigPlanet and Gran Turismo 5 were the pick of the non-playable demos, according to Eurogamer technoblacksmith Rich Leadbetter. "The stereoscopic 3D has afforded the parallax scrolling landscapes a phenomenal sense of depth," he said.
"In the original LittleBigPlanet there can be an element of confusion about which of the game's platforms 'live' on which of the three planes of depth. Stereoscopic 3D puts an end to that, ensuring each of the parallax elements occupies its own distinct area within the 3D space." This, reckons Leadbetter, is a cool example of how the move to 3D technology does represent genuine gameplay advantages. Another eye-catching part of the demo was the starting sequence, which showed Sackboy change from 2D to 3D as he put on his own 3D glasses.
Sony refuses to be drawn on exact games that will be released with its forthcoming range of 3DTVs, and won't commit to a timeline either. However, the screens themselves along with two PS3 system updates (one for 3D movies, the other for games) have been given tentative summer release dates.
More details on the Sony presentation, including an in-depth tech discussion with lead members of the development team, will appear on Digital Foundry later this week.

Claims that Sony’s motion controller is to be known as the ‘Arc’
With brands such as Wii and Natal already trading off their recognisable names, Sony’s still anonymous motion controller is in desperate need of a title – and rumours are suggesting that ‘Arc’ is the moniker being lined up.
VG247 claims to have the information “on good authority from a concrete source speaking under conditions of strict anonymity”.
When asked about the name, SCE UK told MCV that “we don't comment on rumour or speculation”.
Until now the only name to have been associated with the device is ‘Gem’ – that came from EA boss John Riccitiello when the exec made a passing reference to the PS3 peripheral at a conference in late 2009.
The PS3 motion controller is currently scheduled for a release some time in 2010. The chances of it hitting its previously touted March launch window are becoming increasingly slim.

News/release from wethegreenpeople
Here we go, finally got around to releasing v2 of SoundEffects, v2 has a few changes that really makes the overall HomeBrew better.
For those of you that didn't see v1, sound effects is a pretty awesome thingy if I do say so my self. That allows you to play different sound effects by pushing different buttons.
All the sounds that are in this program have been thoroughly tested by me, so that each sound can be used at least 3 times every day, and can be used for at least 3 funny situations. Testing the sounds was the funnest part. xP
So I hope you enjoy this homebrew, if you guys have any suggestions for sounds, category's, anything please feel free to post them here.
Also, I was going to add graphics to this version, but I thought it better to "finish" it first then do graphics. So next version I will add graphics.
Changes:
Added 16 more sounds
A menu
Category's.
Bugs:
Didn't really find any. If you guys do please tell me.
