UPDATE Welcome Diggers and Engadget Visitors, Tyranid has comitted a stunning new version of his PSP remote control software RemoteJoy into the development branch of the PSPDEV repository. and it allows full remote control of a PSP -- including the transfer of the display screen to your PC. Check out the full details HERE[/B]
Noxa has posted another screenshot and a little update on his PSP Emulator for Windows:
Got it to the menu... kind of. The scene animates in, but when I try to hit start it crashes.
DIGG THIS NEWS
What Games would you like to see Noxa attempt to get working on this PSP Emulator for WIndows ?
Heres a recap for those who have missed the previous news about this emulator
A coder called Noxa has posted that he has been working on his own PSP Emulator for over a year:
Firstly Heres some screens
First commercial game There are a few things missing, like the guide lines while playing, but other than that it works! Speed is pretty good, but is being held back by some bad OpenGL code and probably some game-instructed waits that are taking too long. I actually listen when the game says 'pause for this amount of time' - maybe I should only wait for half the time requested or something. My CPU sits almost idle while playing.
Although the emulator is pretty advanced, it is also in its early stages. This means that the screenshots you see here aren't that pretty yet.
2007-05-07 - Trigonometry Wars
Fixed textures up and now trigwars runs. In fact, it runs REALLY well, and is fully playable. Cool!
2007-03-24 - PSPTris (game)
Whoa! By some form of black magic, PSPTris now runs in game! Sometimes control input is missed, and there is a random flicker here or there but other than that the game runs PERFECTLY. I have two or three things to fix (the OSK doesn't work because it does something weird, and I need to implement clipping in the video driver), but after that I can say that it works! Well, classic and original modes do, anyway. The color mode runs really slow, and I'm not sure why.

Noxa has posted another screenshot and a little update on his PSP Emulator for Windows:
Trying to find something else to work on; ToE is one of my favorite games so that's the next logical choice. Having some issues, but the logo shows up!
GPF has downloaded and compiled the source thats on the site and can verify the project is real for any doubters out there.
This has the looks to be one of the best tools for developers to test their releases even without owning a PSP.

News/release from David Rudie
I have released v0.4.3 a little earlier than I expected. It just took some time to sit down and think out a really simple solution. To my surprise, the server already had support for specifying a port and device. I guess I had overlooked this before. WiFiController is now taking advantage of this.
WHAT THIS IS AND WHAT THIS DOES
This basically turns your Sony PSP into a controller for your PC (running Microsoft Windows). How it works is that PPJoy provides a way to create a virtual joystick. We can then communicate with this virtual joystick as though it were a real joystick. This is accomplished by running a server in Microsoft Windows. The server just runs in the background waiting for a connection. When you start the WiFiController program on your Sony PSP it will establish a network connection over wireless using infrastructure mode. Once it establishes a connection and obtains an IP address it will connect to the server running on your PC. Once it has connected to your PC it will act just like a regular joystick.
CHANGES
v0.4.3
Renamed WiFiController.exe to WiFiServer.exe so it won't be confused for the actual PSP application itself.
Added the ability to act as up to 4 separate controllers.
Extended the life of some messages by 1 second. (This isn't in the CHANGES file itself.)

Activision to bring a dose of nostalgia to the popular game series, with 30 tracks from the era including originals from Flock of Seagulls, Twisted Sister.
One of the worst-kept secrets in the games industry is finally out. After weeks of rumors, Activision has finally confirmed that Guitar Hero: Rocks the 80s is in the works. So far, the game has only been confirmed for the PlayStation 2 and will take the retail stage in the US and Europe sometime this summer.
Seven songs out of the total 30 have so far been announced, but they run the genre gamut. It will feature "as made famous" covers of "Round and Round" by Ratt, "I Want Candy" by Bow Wow Wow, "Metal Health" by Quiet Riot, "Holy Diver" by Ronnie James Dio, and "Heat of the Moment" by Asia. It will also sport two original tracks: Flock of Seagulls' "I Ran" and "I Wanna Rock" by Twisted Sister. The game will also feature retro rock venues, unlockable guitars, and a variety of "intense" gameplay modes.
RedOctane's head of publishing, Dusty Welch, commented, "The 80s features an amazing variety of rock genres from hair metal to punk to new wave, and our dedicated Guitar Hero fans will definitely appreciate the opportunity to play all the new and exciting content we've added."
One thing Welch didn't comment on was the fact that Guitar Hero: Rocks the 80s is being developed by Harmonix. Though it developed the first two guitar heroes, the rhythm-game studio has since been purchased by MTV, and announced in March it is making a Guitar Hero rival called Rock Band with Electronic Arts. Activision-owned Neversoft, maker of the Tony Hawk series, has since taken over Guitar Hero development. It will presumably be making Guitar Hero III, due out later this year for the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii.
RedOctane founder and president Kai Huang had previously confirmed to GameSpot that the company would be looking to work on a variety of different genres for upcoming Guitar Hero, and that one of the options would be to offer these packs as extra downloadable content. However, the PS2 edition of Guitar Hero: Rocks the 80s edition will be coming out in the more traditional boxed format.

Just over a year ago, Nyko busted out a lucrative solution to the world of overheating problems that hordes of Xbox 360 users were experiencing, and even after being lambasted for causing consoles to draw an unsafe amount of electricity, the company hasn't learned a thing. Unlike Pelican's attempt at a snap-on cooling solution for the PS3, Nyko's two-piece Intercooler (larger picture after the break) holds tight to the problematic power pass-through design which could presumably put undue stress on your machine's power supply when running things in high gear. Nevertheless, IGN's review saw no scorching problems during the time it was used, and while it did manage to cool the unit down during hardcore gaming sessions, it came at a cost. The noise level experienced a noticeable increase, but they were impressed by the user-controllable fan speed knob that allowed them to ratchet things down whilst watching a Blu-ray movie. In a brief comparison between the two current options, there didn't seem to be a decisive winner, but judging by Nyko's previous mishap and its refusal to update the design, the choice should be fairly clear.

Saints Row 2 has been confirmed. In development at Volition, the sequel is heading to PS3 and Xbox 360.
Unveiling the successor to the 360's GTA-style game during a conference call with analysts following a financial report yesterday, THQ said it will ship simultaneously on both platforms in 2008.
The publisher also revealed that it's canned Saints Row on PS3, CEO Brian Farrell explaining, "We think the most important thing for the Saints Row franchise is to have a simultaneous ship into a larger installed base next year. We think the bigger opportunity is a multiplatform launch."
On the sequel, Farrell said it's been in development for "some time" and that it will "utilise Volition's proprietary open-world engine and deliver an all-new cross-platform gaming experience."
Meanwhile, it was additionally revealed that THQ plans to launch its PC and console shooter Frontlines: Fuel of War in January 2008. Battlefield-style Frontlines is being developed by THQ's internal studio Kaos Studios. Kaos Studios' team includes staff that have formerly worked on Battlefield 2 and Desert Combat (Battlefield 1942 mod).

Sony is preparing to launch the PlayStation 3 in Korea next month, according to a report on Chosun Ilbo.
The company is expected to only launch the 60GB version of the home console, with an estimated retail price of between KRW 500,000 and 600,000 (EUR 399 – 480).
The report suggests that once Sony Japan gives the go ahead to launch, Sony Korean will begin an 'aggressive' marketing campaign in the region.
According to Chosum Ilbo, over 100,000 Xbox 360's have been sold in Korea since the system launched in February 2006.

News/release from JustChris:
Growing up on making web pages and web development a few years before I ever got into programming, I got interested in making an application geared towards web development and data entry. There are many organizer/database apps for PocketPC and other PDAs, so why not one for the PSP?
I call it PSPMyAdmin, after phpMyAdmin which uses a PHP-driven front end to make it easier for users to update MySQL databases. phpMyAdmin is a tool that's found in most web hosts that support MySQL.
PSPMyAdmin does the same, only as a standalone program, and using external files for storage. The major difference is that my program will only work with MySQL scripts, and not the encoded database files themselves. However, the scripts are essentially commands to edit databases so they are transferrable to any MySQL host.
This VERY early build only lets you browse through the table names of the database and some of the "insert" command associated with the rows in the tables. It only reads files named "test.sql" and must be placed in the same folder as the EBOOT. I provided a screenshot of the program. There's not much to do, but a glimpse of things to come.
If you're a webmaster that deals with a large site (like this one) hopefully the final version of this program will be very handy for you.
Here are the proposed features for a "complete" version:
- Read from any compatible file in the directory
- Export/import phpMyAdmin SQL dump, so scripts are transferrable to host
- Read and edit following file formats: SQL script, CSV files, (maybe) XML
- Work with all files in a spreadsheet like format
- new GUI, with a clean look, visual effects and presentation
- Search feature, probably simple at first
It should work on most firmware except for 1.50, this was tested on firmware 2.7. Oh, and this crashes if there's no file with the right name in it. It's still an early version after all.

Fanjita has been interviewed by the Skinny:
Heres an excerpt:
Court continues: "In the beginning, there weren’t many people doing the serious work, but as things have progressed, those of us doing the decrypting have developed quite a close-knit group." Indeed, it is this close-knit group which has managed to crack the latest Sony update (which generally try and lock out homebrew from the console) before it was even available for download on the English servers, something which used to take many weeks. An impressive feat, but one that begs the question: if the updates can be hacked so quickly - and given that their point, for the most part, is to keep the homebrew scene out - why does Sony still bother with them?
"We're not sure why. After all, they have opened up the PS3 to the homebrew scene," Court is referring to the ability of the PS3 to run Linux, an open operating system which effectively lets users run their own programs on the console. "It's symptomatic of Sony’s whole attitude to the consumer. They have a general disdain for the end user: “You will take what we make, and you will think its cool.” It's where they are falling down with the PS3. It doesn’t excite me, and then you can’t afford one.’ True that.
