It would also be nice if you could download movies on your PC from the Station Launcher and play them on your PSP.
NP: That’s on the short-term plans already. We have a version of Launcher where it recognizes when you plug in your PSP into the PC. You can download a movie straight from the internet through the Launcher straight to your PSP without it ever having touched your PC. There is no version on the PC, if you don’t want it to be. It can download straight to your destination device like your PSP.
Are those movies going to be automatically formatted for the PSP?
NP: That’s right, you’ll be able to download whichever format you want. You want to watch it on PC its one format, if you want to watch it on PSP it’s another format.
But, you’re not going to have to buy the movie twice?
NP: That’s right.
Since you’re going to be able to download movies, what is going to happen to the UMD format?
NP: The movies are big, right? There is a storage capacity limit, so UMDs will still be a good way to watch movies.

The easiest way to wrap your head around The Club is to think of the third-person shooter as a forced-labor Fight Club. A group of hard-as-nails types have fallen into the world of an underground fighting federation, and they can't get out. Rich folks watch the damned shoot the crap out of each other and foot the bill to keep them stabbing people on different continents.
SEGA was nice enough to give the gaming media a look at the title today during a gameplay demonstration by Nick Davies, design manager for The Club's developer Bizarre Creations.
"It's everything that Splinter Cell and Gears of War isn't," he said. "It's kind of the anti-stealth game as we call it."

For more than ten years, the SEGA Rally series has helped to define the off road genre. The quarter munching arcade title is still wildly popular and profitable today, and many racing fans still enjoy jumping into the arcade cockpit and racing each other for bragging rights. But SEGA is looking forward to taking the Rally series out of the arcade and into the home. This fall, SEGA Rally Revo will peel out on the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. We managed to check it out at a press event for some quick early impressions.
The first thing that we were told was that the SEGA Racing Studio out of the UK will be handling racing for SEGA properties. The team definitely knows its racing, as the more than 60 developers have worked on driving games from various developers like Criterion, Codemasters and Rockstar. With a stated studio mission "to bring state of the art racing to next-gen consoles," the Racing Studio is focusing on three specific facets of gameplay for the upcoming title. The development team wanted to make state of the art graphics, putting attention on the handling of vehicles in various environments and the close racing experience that was key to the competition during games. While we were shown examples of this from the original Sega Rally Championship as a indication of where the series had been twelve years ago on a SEGA Model 2 arcade board, we really wanted to see how this would translate to a game console.

Sometime this summer, poker fans will be able to soothe their gambling itch with High Stakes at the Vegas Strip, to be available for $9.99 USD through the PlayStation Network. The feature being pushed in this game is EyeToy or other PC compatible USB camera support, which will display the camera's target in the screen's corners during online games. Whether or not players choose to point their EyeToy at their faces or houseplants or something more inappropriate remains to be seen.
Two modes are available for offline play: quick game and career mode. Choosing quick game lets you pick between Texas Hold'em, Super Hold'em, Shanghai, Billabong, and Tahoe poker. In career mode as well as during online play, only Texas Hold'em is playable. Advancing through career mode's various tiers earns points to unlock special shirts, pants, sunglasses and more for your avatar, which you choose to apply to one of the five male and five female avatars. The game starts out placing easy AI around the six person tables, and as you progress will randomly drop in more challenging AI opponents. While we saw the game running, we didn't have much of a chance to actually test out how the AI behaved, so we'll have to bring you details on that later.

Children's books are often sources for movies and video games. The Polar Express and Meet the Robinsons were both novels that were both depicted across both mediums, and obviously Harry Potter does well in either format. The latest novel to receive a movie and game treatment is Philip Pullman's The Golden Compass, from the His Dark Materials trilogy. While New Line is preparing to release the movie this Christmas, SEGA is working hand in hand with them to develop the game. We managed to get a small glimpse of the game at a recent event and came away with new impressions.
The novel of the Golden Compass is set in an alternate universe similar to our own, and follows the adventures of a young girl named Lyra as she journeys from England to the far north to save a kidnapped friend of hers. Fortunately for her, she's not alone in her quest, as she's accompanied by her shape shifting demon Pan and an armored bear named Lorek, who'll help her search for her friend. Lyra also has a special item known as an alethiometer, which helps her find out the truth about people that she interacts with.

Flv streamer update, full Wii playback
Now that WPA was tackled (if you downgrade to 3.10 )
The FLV streamer side needed an update. No changes in the PSP binaries
1. No more pimpy color borders. Movie will always try to go full screen.
2. Full length flv playback on Wii. Tested with some long movies
3. Better UI while playing (click on movie). Adjust volume and play/pause. Tested on Wii.

Oft-muttered rumors of a new PSP are once again in circulation. Sony is, according to industry tittle tattle, definitely working up a smaller lighter version of its handheld. Questions such as 'when' and 'what will they do about storage' aren't finding answers right now though the company is sticking with UMD. Don't say you're surprised. This is Sony, after all.

StrmnNrmn has posted the fourth update post in 24 hours, this time with even greater news:
Ok, I know the last thing I said yesterday was:
Anyway, given the work involved Goldeneye isn't an immediate priority, but I am thinking about it.
I couldn't quite resist having a quick hack to see if I could get Goldeneye working using the third method I outlined. It turned out to be relatively painless to crowbar in the required changes, and I'm pleased to say that I've managed to get Goldeneye booting again!
With the changes, Daedalus now dynamically pages the Goldeneye ROM into the PSP's RAM so that it no longer requires a free 12 MiB. I now check the instruction pointer on every instruction fetch in the interpretive core*, and raise a TLB Read Miss exception if required. If this happens, it causes Goldeneye's exception handler to realise that the required code isn't in memory, and to load it in from ROM before continuing execution.
So here are the first screenshots of Goldeneye running under Daedalus R12 - you can see there are a handful of graphical glitches to sort out, particularly on the main menu:
Not bad for an hour's work!
There's still quite a long way to go though. Firstly, I can still only get the rom running with dynarec disabled on the PSP, so the framerate is currently just 6-7 fps. Interestingly it runs fine with dynarec on the PC with the same set of changes, so this indicates a bug somewhere in the PSP dynarec implementation. Secondly, I've not been able to get in-game yet - it just seems to hang with a black screen shortly after starting to load the level. I've not figured out whether this is just running very slowly without dynarec and taking its time, or if there's another bug to be fixed somewhere.
Getting the rom booting is a great first step though - it can only continue to improve from here
-StrmnNrmn
*I probably want to tidy things up to avoid doing this for most other roms as it can be quite expensive - especially if dynarec is disabled.
Don't forget to leave a thank-you comment at StrmnNrmn's blog! Fantastic work!

If Sony are to push the PSP to the forefront of Handhelds, will a built in keyboard help with internet browsing, what about the ability to use the PSP as a phone as well as the gaming machine we all cherish now.
Now today the internet is awash of photos of the Helio Ocean Mobile Phone.
Heres the screen:
Now imagine that its the PSP on the top part and a slide keyboard below.
Would that be the killer move to make the PSP loved by all ?

Crossover games have tended to pit the characters of one popular property against those of another (Capcom vs. SNK, Alien Versus Predator), but that battle would be horribly lopsided in the case of Gundam and Dynasty Warriors. So, instead of a no-holds-barred battle for brand superiority, the merger of Namco Bandai's space-faring Gundam Mobile Suits and Koei's Dynasty Warriors historical action game set in ancient China takes the key components of each and combines them into one game.
The result, Dynasty Warriors: Gundam, brings the futuristic artillery of Namco Bandai's sci-fi series and drops it into the swarming combat of Koei's action series. While the game was previously released for the PlayStation 3 in Japan, the companies today confirmed that it would be arriving for North American audiences on the PS3 as well as the Xbox 360 late this summer.
The game is developed by Koei's Omega Force studio, the team behind the Dynasty Warriors franchise, as well as its Samurai Warriors spin-off. As in the studio's previous titles, players will be able to become key characters on both sides of the storyline and experience battles and plotlines from their own unique perspectives. The game will also include unlockable Mobile Suits from different Gundam timelines and multiple game modes.

After taking 2006 off, LucasArts' Star Wars Battlefront series of shooters is returning in 2007, but only on the PlayStation Portable. The publisher today announced that it will release Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron exclusively for Sony's handheld this fall.
As the only new entry in the series this year, Renegade Squadron will introduce a new character customization system. Instead of picking from a lineup of regimented character classes, players will be able to tailor their character's weapons, abilities, and equipment to their liking. Renegade Squadron will also be playable online in battles up to 16 players, so players will be able to pit their customized characters against others to see which combinations work best.
LucasArts is also adding a new story for the single-player campaign mode, with the Renegade Squadron of the title being a secret group of shady characters running missions for the Rebel Alliance under the command of Han Solo. Battles will take place in a number of settings that should be familiar to fans of the space opera, with missions objectives including sabotage, rescue, and retrieval.
Development on Renegade Squadron is being entrusted to Rebellion, the outfit behind the PSP games Gun Showdown and Miami Vice: The Game. Previous entries in the Battlefront series were developed by Pandemic Studios (Mercenaris, Destroy All Humans!).

Konami has confirmed to Eurogamer that the new date for Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops will be 25th May.
It was due to be released last Friday but was sent back by retailers as it was missing the required BBFC rating.
We're still clueless as to why this was overlooked, so we invented our own reasons. The strongest and most compelling of these was that Tom took it, or had a large part to play in it.
But it's all turned out well in the end, because MGS: Portable Ops is one of the best games the PSP has.

Eidos has confirmed that the PC and PS2 versions of Tomb Raider: Anniversary will be out across Europe on 1st June.
However, a date is yet to be set for the PSP game.
We'd recently been led to believe it would be out towards the end of May, but a one week slip seems too insignificant to throw coffee over people about.
It's inspired by the first ever Tomb Raider game, responsible for kick-starting the enormously popular series. But it's had more than a dose of spit-shine polish. It's running on the Tomb Raider: Legend engine, for starters, and has bags of new content and surprises to get stuck into.
It was originally planned to celebrate 10 years of Lara, but has since slipped over into the 11th year.
And you'll be pleased to know that the PS2 version is compatible with PlayStation 3. If you have one, that is.
