For Firmware 3.40 OE-A
Instead of re-writing what I put in the readme, I'm just gonna copy and paste! As taken from the readme:
Everything you see was ripped myself using World of Warcraft, WoW Model Viewer (version 0.5.08), and Jasc Paint Shop Pro 7! I also used FontHacker PSP 0.93 to create the font used (Morpheus is the name given it, apparently) that is a rip from the World of Warcraft font used in the in-game mail system. The only thing not 100% original is the intro (graphic is mine) which I took from the WiiToo PSP theme (and it is unfortunately uncredited there as well, so I'm unsure who to credit for it).
I started this theme as more of an experiment on if I could actually do it or not. I was rather happy with the results, and this all came about after about 3 days of experimentation (a few hours here and there a day). I wanted a custom WoW Gameboot, but I'll do something later for that, right now I wanted the theme out there. It was a labor of love, really, and I found I really enjoyed doing it. So yes, other themes will come in time
(And yes, the theme looks 100% better on the PSP...the plugin I use for screenshots really washes it out)
I really want a 100% customized PSP experience, with the text, sounds, gameboot, and opening/background all original and created specifically for this project, or ripped directly from World of Warcraft. Then, once it's totally done, I'd like to go on and do a theme for each class, and release an 'Ultimate' WoW pack. But that's a ways off, since I am JUST learning how to do as much as I have.
NOTE: This, like anything else that deals with flash0 has the potential to BRICK your PSP! I am not responsible for any damaged caused directly, or indirectly from the use of this theme.

Today, Square Enix announced that it has shipped Dawn of Mana to retail locations across North America. Developed exclusively for the PlayStation 2, Dawn of Mana is the follow-up to the cult classic, Secret of Mana, for the SNES.
Dawn of Mana brings the famed RPG series into the realm of 3-D for the first time, while still preserving the atmosphere of past games. Dawn of Mana takes place before Secret of Mana, and reveals the mysterious origins of the Mana Tree and the Sword of Mana.
Hardcore World of Mana fans should be forewarned that a limited edition Breath of Mana music sampler disc will be available at participating retailers. Purchase the game at Amazon.com, Game Crazy, GameStop, or EB Games, and receive the disc for free while supplies last.

In a nutshell, 3 months of work for £6000 to prototype their game on a handheld (DS/PSP most likely)
More details:
http://forums.introversion.co.uk/int...opic.php?t=736
Introduction
An opportunity has arisen for a new version of DEFCON to be created for a mobile platform . In order to de-risk the project Introversion requires the development of a prototype that will demonstrate the game running on a simulation of the target platform.
Once we have acquired the prototype we will further investigate the commercial viability of the title. Should we choose to proceed, we will be looking to create the full version of mobile DEFCON. Whilst we would be keen to offer this work to the developer who created the prototype, this work would not be guaranteed at this stage.
Technical Requirement
We require a Windows or Mac OS executable that simulates single player DEFCON mobile running on the target platform. This prototype would simulate the screen size and resolution of the target platform, as well as the physical input system. The new platform will provide additional data sets to DEFCON and the prototype will simulate these inputs. The game would need to be interactive, but we would not expect full functionality within the prototype.
...
Timescales
Our initial plans suggest that the prototype will require approximately 3 months of full time work.
We are aiming to have a complete prototype finished by the end of September 2007.
Remuneration
The budget for the project is £6000, payable in two initial instalments of £1500 and a completion bonus of £3000.
Application
For more information or to register your interest, please send a CV to mark@introversion.co.uk.

Earlier this week, Sony announced plans to launch a video-on-demand service in South Korea this June, simultaneously releasing an 80GB PS3 model to cater to the happy downloaders. Negotiations with telecom companies are still underway, but an anonymous spokesperson from Hanaro Telecom seemed confident they would strike a deal with the giant.
Sony has no public plans to bring the VOD service to North America or Europe, but we have two words to say about that: test market. The Xbox 360 Video Marketplace is already well-established in the US, so it's likely Sony will use Korea to whip their service into shape to compete worldwide.

Today marks the official availability of the 1.80 firmware update for the PS3. After trying for an hour to be able to get the update from Sony’s already overwhelmed servers I was finally successful in getting the update applied.
I have always had my PS3 hooked up via HDMI to my Viewsonic N4251W 42” LCD HDTV. I have watched upscaled flicks for a long time now on my main living room TV set via my Denon S-301 upscaling 2.1 home theater system. I was quickly hooked on the huge improvement in image quality I saw from standard DVD quality video to the upscaled 1080i quality.
We put our kids to bed early here and usually when it comes time for the wife and I to watch some flicks we end up watching in the back living room so we don’t wake the kids with the surround sound from the main living area. I always hated to do that because the back living room is where we had to watch movies on the PS3 and the lack of upscaling was very apparent in each DVD we watched.
Thankfully, now that the 1.80 firmware is out I no longer have to make sacrifices on the image quality of my DVDs by watching them on the PS3. The video upscaling in this firmware update takes normal DVDs to 1080i on my HDTV, just as expected and they look great.
In fact, the upscaled movies on the PS3 look every bit as good as they do on my Denon S-301 home theater, and that system runs about $1500. Couple my PS3 with the SLS Q-Line Silver 5.1 surround sound system, I have connected via the digital audio output and I have a home theater package that sounds better and produces video every bit as good as the Denon S-301, for less than the Denon S-301 costs. Moreover, I get the added advantage of being able to play games as well as watch movies with the PS3.
---------------
I havent yet to try it, but it seems like it works well :P

Have the latest issue of PSM? Neither do we. However, PSX Extreme is reporting that the latest issue has an interview with Sucker Punch, the developers behind the popular Sly Cooper series of games. In the interview, the developers mention that two new Sly Cooper games were coming out: one for PSP, and one for PS3.
The two titles are supposed to launch simultaneously, with PS3-PSP connectivity available from the get-go. The games will be unveiled at mini-E3 later this year in Santa Monica -- and we'll be there to find out more.

PS3 owners will be sneaking their way through Metal Gear Solid 4 by March 2008 according to a Konami financial report.
The report names the highly-anticipated stealth-'em-up as one of its key product to be released before the end of the current fiscal year, which ends March 31 2008.
EB Games placed the release of MGS4 at March 1 2008 in an email update sent to eager fans. Could that be right on the money?
The report also reveals a record year for Konami with sales of $2.3 billion for the year ending March 31 2007, thanks mostly to Pro Evolution Soccer (or Winning Eleven in the East), which sold over a million units.

Could the PlayStation 3 be getting last-gen's rumble functionality before the end of the year? According to the rumors section in the latest issue of PSM, the answer might be yes. The magazine even gets into specifics, saying that the Sixaxis rumble controller will be announced at E3 this year with a projected release date of November 13th. Seems sort of odd that a rumor would have such a concrete date attached to it, doesn't it? Sounds more like someone either a) has a big mouth or b) enjoys playing games with magazine editors. Word is that Kojima wanted rumble included, and considering the importance of MGS 4 to the PS3 platform, Sony listened.
I've really got my fingers crossed for 'a'. I never noticed how much rumble meant to me until it was gone. I don't particularly like the idea of paying for something the system should have come with in the first place, but sometimes that's just the way the cookie rumbles.

New game release from the french coders over at Xtream Lua:
french to english translation
I programmed this small play of snake which is played 2 player on a psp. I began this aprem' then obviously graphics of this versions are very basic, but the idea is there and it is extremely drole, believe me (and even hysterical). The 2 players must put themselves face to face by taking each one 1 with dimensions of the psp. The keys are then very logical for each player believe me. select makes it possible to post or not the score in the course of play. start makes it possible to leave the part. The goal of the play is obviously to take the fruit which appears on the screen the first. The player who reaches that point sees the lonquor of sound snake increasing by 1 and gains 1pt. Attention to strike the unfavourable snake is equivalent losing 1pt (it is considered that that which strikes the other is that whose head is in contact with any part of the body of the other). A frontal shock makes lose 1pt with chq player (logical!). recall: Joueur1=snake bleu=touches directional joueur2=snake rouge=touches cross, square, triangle, round I thus let to you test that; deliver to me your opinion, thank you

Why flackert's if I by the menu scroll? That is because of the code. It’s an open secret that players can find Cloud from Final Fantasy VII, Ruso / Luso from Final Fantasy Tactics A2 and Balthier from Final Fantasy XII in Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions. With overall sales still at a seasonal low, the Japanese sales charts has seen the latest in the Shining series of role-playing games enter straight in at number one with just over 78,000 unit sales. The PlayStation 2 exclusive is a follow-up to Shining Tears, itself as spin-off from Sega’s Shining Force series of strategy role-playing games.
The second highest new entry of the week is Western import favorite Moero! Nekketsu Rhythm Damashii: Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan 2 on Nintendo DS, with almost 71,000 units sold.
The original game was a sales flop in Japan, with the Western spin-off Elite Beat Agents faring little better in North America. Developer iNiS’s new game, though, finally seems to have found the sales success to match the critical acclaim heaped on the series.
The third new entry of the week, at number three, is Odin Sphere. The new title, from GrimGrimoire developers Vanilla Ware, is also an exclusive PlayStation 2 action role-playing game. However, with sales just over 59,000 it represents only a minor success for publisher Atlus.
The rest of the top ten is largely the same as the previous week, although generally with even lower unit sales. Outside the top three there are only two titles not for Nintendo formats: Final Fantasy Tactics for PSP at number four and Monster Hunter Portable 2nd for PSP at number twenty-three.
Shining Wind (PS2) - 78,030
Moero! Nekketsu Rhythm Damashii: Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan 2 (DS) - 70,821
Odin Sphere (PS2) - 59,248
Final Fantasy Tactics: Shishi Sensou (PSP) - 39,480
Wii Sports (Wii) - 27,788
Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings (DS) - 23,904
Motto Nou o Kitaeru Otona DS Training (DS) - 18,790
Hajimete no Wii (Wii) - 18,179
New Super Mario Bros. (DS) - 17,862
Wii de Yawaraka Atama Juku (Wii) - 15,816

via IGN,
Sony has announced that the latest version of the PlayStation 3 firmware - available to download on May 24 - upscales PlayStation and PlayStation 2 games and DVD movies to full 1080p HD resolution.
Firmware 1.80 also enables users on a home network to use the PS3 to view images, listen to music or play videos, which are stored on their DLNA3 devices (including PCs and laptops) elsewhere in the house.
The PSP's Remote Play function is also set to be improved thanks to the firmware update and PSP owners can now access their PS3 from anywhere in the world - as long as they have a broadband connection and firmware 3.50 for the PSP, which is available at the end of May.
Finally, firmware 1.80 includes the ability to print photo images stored on PS3's hard disk drive or inserted storage media to a selection of Epson printers via the USB connection.

via IGN,
Did that updated Final Fantasy XIII trailer (you know, the one you weren't able to see because filming was not allowed) from the Square Enix Party get you even more excited about Japan's most anticipated PS3 title? Well don't start saving your cash just yet, as there's going to be quite the wait before you actually get to play it.
Fielding questions at a Square Enix financial briefing in Tokyo today, president Yoichi Wada said this about Final Fantasy XIII: "It will still take a bit more time. At the very least, [a release] this fiscal year is definitely out of the question."
Japanese is known for being a pretty vague language, but Wada's words were pretty clear. No FFXIII in Japan until some time after March 2008.
Let's hope Square Enix starts the translation before development finishes up.

via IGN,
Registration is now open for the Warhawk beta which begins tomorrow, May 24, and there appears to be a way to tell if you've been accepted. If you've registered, boot up your PlayStation 3, go to "friends," "account management," "transaction management," and "view services." A Warhawk icon will appear if you have been accepted into the beta.
Alternatively, there is a beta test Website for PlayStation Underground members. Hit up the Site, enter your info, and it should tell you if you have gained entry to the beta.
If you're one of the chosen, unfortunately you won't be receiving early access. But you might sleep a little easier knowing you have secured entry and tomorrow you'll be playing Warhawk.
