Another big, detailed and interesting blog post from StrmnNrmn talks about compiling Daedalus under OSX operating system:
I mentioned a few days ago that I've recently bought a Macbook Pro. I've never owned a Mac before so it's been a really interesting experience learning my way around. Initially I was planing on dual booting Windows XP via Boot Camp, but I quickly found that I could do almost everything I need to in OSX. I did install Parallels Desktop, I rarely find myself running any Windows apps.
One of the main things I need for day to day 'work' is the ability to compile and run Daedalus. The rest of this article describes the process of setting up the PSPSDK under OSX, and compiling Daedalus PSP for the first time. This post is really aimed at people who are interested in compiling Daedalus for themselves on OSX. Hopefully it will also be useful for other PSP homebrew developers who have been having problems getting the PSPSDK set up under OSX.
To install the PSPSDK I largely followed this guide on the ps2dev.org forums. I already had XCode and fink installed. Fink complained when I tried to install all the listed packages, and I had to remove one of them from the command line (I think it was autogen, but I can't really remember now.)
I've been using the most recent psptoolchain script, which was updated a few weeks ago, and I had to make a couple of modifications. In depends/check-ncurses.sh I had to change the check for ncurses to look for the OSX .dyliib file:
... READ THE FULL POST HERE! ...
StrmnNrmn ends the post by saying that if anyone decides to try to compile Daedalus under OSX, he'd like to know how you do it, so post in the comments section on his blog if you do (and no off-topic posts there).
Any comments and thoughts?

Via DeMoN X.
This was released on 240507, but hasn't been posted about here. Even QJ hasn't posted about it, even though it was released on their forums.
In short, this is a program that lets you display the PSP's screen in real-time on your PC monitor by sending the signals through the USB cable. It was designed for 3.40 OE-A, which it works flawlessly on, but I can also confirm it works great on M33 3.52-2 (Load VSH doesn't work, but it's not that important). Something unique for M33 firmwares, is that you can also use the plugins in 1.50 kernel homebrew!
You can also control the game from a PC keyboard or gamepad. This works without any noticeable delay.
Overall, a great application if you want, for example, to record to video while playing a game, and if you want to play using another gamepad than the PSP's.
Read the readme for installation and usage on 3.40 OE-A.
For M33 firmwares (may also prove useful to other users):
- First, copy and boot up the PSPLink application as in the readme. Make sure the USB cable is plugged in, and install the drivers when prompted by directing to the drivers somewhere in this package.
- Copy and enable the two plugins mentioned in the readme in GAME and/or GAME150. Don't start Remotejoy yet.
- Now start the game/application on your PSP.
- When it has booted, start up Remotejoy GUI on the PC. USBHostFS will automatically start.
- Click With FPS or Without FPS under Window or Full Screen to start the controlling/displaying application.
- Press F3 on your keyboard to stream the PSP's screen to the PC's.
- Press F11 to take a screenshot.
OE users can run the PSPLink program on their PSP (disable the plugins first!) to use the Load VSH which lets them boot up the XMB with USBHostFS running to stream their display from there also. Note that loading any games or applications then will crash the PSP. The same goes for listing the video files.
NB! The PSP may lock-up when entering Save screen in some games. Press F5 on the PC to stop the video stream temporarily while you save. Press it again to resume streaming.
Another bug is that the PSP will always crash when trying to exit to the XMB from a game with the plugins enabled, forcing you to power the PSP off the hard way (holding the power switch for 10 seconds).
Here's the post from DeMoN X himself:
Warning! Some Anti-Virus software, Mcafee and others may be detecting this software as a virus. This is NOT a virus. This is false detection of CMDOW's window hiding capabilities. The maker of CMDOW has a statement on his website.

Taken straight from the press release:
Launch of Grand Theft Auto IV Now Planned for Fiscal 2008
Take-Two Interactive Software today announced revised revenue and earnings guidance for fiscal 2007.
Take-Two is reducing its fiscal 2007 guidance primarily to reflect the movement of the launch of Grand Theft Auto IV for the PS3 and the Xbox 360 from the fourth quarter of fiscal 2007 to fiscal 2008, due to additional development time required to complete the title. The title is now planned for release in the Company's second quarter of fiscal 2008. Additionally, Take-Two is updating third quarter and fiscal year 2007 guidance to reflect the movement of Manhunt 2 for the PS2, PSP, and the Wii out of the third quarter and the fiscal year.
Things are not looking so good for Rockstar/Take-Two....

News/release from Acehack:
-This is a new windows program that will allow you to easily install PRX's for Firmware with the ability to load plugins.
-You will need .NET 2.0
-It's currently in it's infant stages. I just started writing this yesterday
-It will allow you to selected from Prxs that are in the applications Prx folder
-It will not overwrite the game.txt, vsh.txt, etc... Just add to it.
-It will autodetect your playstation drive
-Please let me know of any bugs or enhancements you would like to see aaron_bond@yahoo.com
-Sorry for taking so long to release my first PSP Related application but I've only had my PSP for about a Week
-But you may have seen my work if you have a Xbox1 I created a Xbox1 tool a while back called PreXboxCopyTool.
---Future Plans---
-Add ability to uninstall Prx's (Really an entire managment of them instead of just an install)
-Add ability for homebrew software too not just prxs
-Do not allow to many prxs in the ini
-Add ability to enable\disable prxs using the config.bin file
-Plus many more
---Possible Other Projects---
-If CWCheat ever gets the USB fixed in 3.51 - 3.52 for non POPS games I would like to create a new application. This appliation will be for windows and will allow very advanced cheat code searching. It will have all the search features of CWCheat but be in windows using the CWCheat dump files. I know CWCheat already has a windows app but it's horrible to use and takes forever. This one will be much like the cheat menu built in and autodetect new dumps. It will also have some advance search features not avialible in CWCheat like Percentage Search. Also this would allow for immediate updating of CWCheat database when new codes are found.
---Suggestions---
-Please send any suggestions to bugs to aaron_bond@yahoo.com
-This is the first readme I've ever created so if you have any suggestions I would appreciate those also. Thanks.

Midway's CEO David Zucker has told GamesIndustry.biz that he's still concerned about sales of the PlayStation 3, but thinks the recently announced USD 100 price cut will certainly help the console in the short term.
However, worries over the uptake of the PS3 aren't enough to put Midway off supporting the luxury console, with Unreal Tournament 3 exclusive to the machine this year, and forthcoming action game Stranglehold set to feature a full-length movie on the Blu-ray game disc.
"We would not be the only publisher to tell you that we're a little concerned about the take-up of the PS3," said Zucker, in an interview published today.
"Anytime you get a hundred dollar price on hardware it will improve sales. The question is, is it enough? Will there be more?"
The Unreal Tournament 3 deal is just one way that Midway is backing the PS3, and it's confident it's a title that will make a big impact on the home console when released in November.
"When you go back to last year's E3, one of the first titles that were shown on Sony's PS3 was Unreal Tournament. So, it has always been a big title for the PS3," he said.

While there has yet to be a formal announcement, online retail GameStop has put up a product page for Dancing with the Stars, to be published by Activision. No further details are revealed, but it's probably safe to assume it is an adaptation of the popular TV show where a celebrity, who usually has no apparent dancing talent, is paired up with a professional dancer to compete for the top honors. A PS2 and Wii version are planned, currently scheduled for November 13, 2007.

A Sony executive has stated that the widespread piracy in the Philippines is forcing many companies to abandon any plans for manufacturing software in the region. He went on to say that this is the sole reason why Sony would not even consider importing PSP videogames into the Philippines. However, he did admit that it is difficult to quantify how much the industry loses in relation to the PSP and stated that it is very difficult to quantify.

Hi Guys,
Here is the latest of my current program.
It's not going to be my policy to release programs, but rather give out download links to individuals via pm.
This is an exception because I'd like it out there to issue a correction to other public releases.
Also to prove Adrahil's PSP clock set library which allows the clock set mode for
this release which I haven't seen happen before.
This sets the PSP clock in real time so make sure you know what the time is if
you play with it
Undocumented Easter Egg:
Save your settings when the time is 13:37, and the eboot icon will be rewritten to match your colour preference!
Cheers, Art.

News/release from Poison:
after several failed attempt to make the Danzeff's keyboard work in one of my homebrew, I've decided to create my own keyboard (coded C/C++), it's not better than the Danzeff's keyboard of course; but it's succesful for my need. And maybe it will help you to make your own keyboard since the code source is available.

After the announcement that Dynasty Warriors 6 will feature both swimming and climbing (stop the presses!) we were hooked. In addition to those elements, the ability to create your own combo string into an almost infinite wave of attacks really gives us something to mull over whilst hacking through thousands of brain-dead Chinese warriors. Take a look at the gallery compiled below, courtesy of the [url="http://www.gamecity.ne.jp/smusou5/"]official Dynasty Warriors 6 website/URL], and let us know if you think this game will freshen up the mostly stale guilty pleasure Koei has milked for so very long.

Innerbits.com, a blog run by "a few guys working in the games industry" who "want to address rumors, and a give a voice to game developers who would be otherwise afraid to speak up," claims that rumbling SIXAXIS controllers are now in the hands of a select few developers. The information on these prototype controllers is still kept very tight to Sony's chest. Apparently the details will be revealed over the next two or three months, with Leipzig the obvious venue of choice. We'll be there to let you know if that's the case.
Innerbits also reports that controllers bundled with consoles are quietly being swapped out with newer versions. Nothing too exciting, just improved motion sensing. We're reminded that hardware updates occur all the time without us being told. Remember the removal of the Emotion Engine?
Finally, we're told not to get too excited about the patent for PSP/Dual Analogue controller connectivity. Companies patent hundreds of things that never see the light of day. We're going to remain hopeful, but not hold our breath.

Tactical Strike looks really great -- it's come a long way since we last saw video of it. The added dialogue is much improved over the laughable computer-synthesized voice used in earlier builds of the game. However, we still want more than a handful of one-liners. Hey, they changed our previous complaint -- maybe they'll address this one as well?
Other than the presentation, we have to admit that the gameplay of Tactical Strike looks intriguing and intense. It's supposed to be less action-oriented than previous SOCOM titles, but you won't notice it in this lengthy, detailed video which can be seen here.

We didn't know electronics had states of health, but apparently leave it to Dr. Diagnosis (and his sidekick, Bangs McCoy) over at Electronic Arts to give Sony a clean bill of health for next year. EA Games president Frank Gibeau sat down to a lengthy interview with Gamasutra only to dole out some information on a few pieces of PS3-related impressions and predictions.
First off, EA's reaction to the PS3's game-to-console tie ratio last year: "Frankly, there weren't any platform-defining titles on the PS3 that first Christmas. There was Resistance: Fall of Man, perhaps. I think as we get more titles, that tie ratio will improve." We think it will, too -- especially if they count the 2 games included in the European bundle as tie ratio games. Plus, for this Christmas, there will be a plethora of titles to choose from!
Gibeau commented on the future of the PS3 as well, saying "I think 2008 feels like when you start to see the titles that define that platform start to come out... [the tie ratio] has improved since release, which is good news. I think it really starts to get into the range where we feel like we're bullish and aggressive. It feels healthy in 2008." Again, we're going to agree. While some may argue a lot of good games are coming out this November, we think the big sellers will hit in 2008 and with those, a gigantic leap in console sales.

We spoke with associate producer Paul Hossack after hands-on time with the PS2 version of FIFA 08, and he almost spilled the beans on FIFA 09.
When asked whether the next FIFA would appear on the machine, he said he's been told not to give details on games that haven't been announced, but did have this to say:
"PS2 isn't going away anytime soon - that's for sure. We're spending a lot of time thinking about what the future holds."
FIFA 05 was the last version on PS2 Hossack notes, so there's plenty last-gen FIFA to come.
It's worth noting that FIFA 05 was released in 2004 - some four years after PS2 launched, so by the same token, we could see FIFA 2010 on PS2. Crikey.
