Guilty Gear XX Slash is a port from the latest Arcade 2D fighting game, developed by Sammy/Sega. This installment includes two new characters compared to the #Reload series adoption.

The home console version contains a number of different game modes: Arcade, Versus 2P, Versus CPU, Training, Survival, Gallery and Sound. There is also a M.O.M.E. mode, which is a score attack mode as well as a Mission mode, where you work through a number of missions with three levels of difficulty. The game's interface itself also got a new face-lift, with new menu screens and a graphical stage selection screen.

The Sony team made waves last week when it announced that its flight-based actioner Warhawk would be playable only as an online experience. This lack of single-player support became an immediate point of speculation for Internet folk, who debated furiously as to whether or not this meant that the game would be downloadable from the PS Store file or available on a Blu-ray disc.
Today, Sony representatives gave us at least one part of the answer...
"Officially, Warhawk will be released as a Blu-ray-based product," commented our SCEA rep. "It will see release in late summer."
This didn't address the various reports coming out of GDC, however, that claimed Phil Harrison revealed Warhawk to be "available as only a download" at a blogger's event held at the Palomar Hotel during Day two of the show.
"That's a misinterpretation," replied Sony's spokesperson. "Phil was only addressing what the future of downloadable content meant for the industry and how important online support will be for games. He didn't make any announcements."
"We were just in a discussion about the future of consoles and downloadable content," said IGN's Hilary Goldstein, who was in attendance at the blogger's event in question. "Harrison said that 'by the next generation of consoles there likely wouldn't be a need for disc-based media.' That's how we got onto the whole subject of Warhawk and how there's already a discussion for a beta program, the benefits of downloadable demos, etc. But never did he actually say 'Warhawk will be available only as a download.'"
When we asked Sony if Warhawk would ever appear as a downloadable PS Store game similar to Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection or flOw, Sony replied, "It's a disk-based product."

Source: A GamesIndustry.Biz report of a Sony UK event to launch the PSP in Education initiative.
The official story: See below.
What we heard: Much like the rumors of a bigger Xbox 360 hard drive, speculation about a redesigned PlayStation Portable simply refuses to go away. Yesterday they resurfaced as a GamesIndustry.biz article reported that Sony Computer Entertainment UK managing director Ray Maguire finally confirmed the new PSP's existence at a PSP in Education event to promote the system's use in the classroom.
According to the article, Maguire called the current PSP the "first iteration" of the hardware, and that a "smaller, lighter" version would be released in the future. When asked how that would affect the screen size, Maguire reportedly said the PSP's screen dimensions would be preserved despite any changes to the hardware.
When asked about Maguire's comments, Sony Computer Entertainment of America corporate communications director Dave Karraker told GameSpot that "Ray's comments regarding decreasing the size of the PSP were made in the general context that almost all consumer electronics shrink over time as advances are made in the technology to shrink the components used in manufacture. We have not, however, made any announcement regarding any new PSP hardware changes."
While the "we haven't made any announcement line" is an old standby for publishers wanting to make a splash with news that was assumed to be coming anyway, even the GamesIndustry.biz story includes mention of the less-than-concrete nature of Maguire's comments.
"In the longest term, of course we are always looking at ways to continue our platform development, and this normal business practice is what Ray was referring to," the article quotes a Sony representative as saying.
It looks like this one can join the Gears of War sequels and the bigger Xbox 360 hard drive in the file of sure things just waiting to become official.
Bogus or not bogus?: Bogus that it's confirmed, not bogus that it'll happen.

Despite the good news out of GDC last week, it still seems like Sony's new console has some image management to do. CNET says that the PlayStation 3 is 'the most unwanted console in recent memory' and asks 'why is the PS3 so undesirable?' They specifically question the company's wisdom in emphasizing the power of the console. Their impression is that this invites developers to neglect gameplay, in favour of investing in graphics. Likewise, Gamespot is running a piece suggesting ten ways to make the PS3 worth buying. A lower price is just one of the suggestions with exclusives, and the need for online standardization, following close behind. Looks like Sony still has its work cut out

MumboJumbo boss Paul Jensen believes Europe is an under-served community, and that casual gaming in the region is set to explode.
Talking to GamesIndustry.biz at the Game Developer Conference in San Francisco he reiterated the strength of quick-fix thrills, and MumboJumbo's renewed focus on the European territory.
"We are getting into Europe in a big way," Jensen commented. "We are continuing to be very aggressive at localising our games to get out to the larger countries in Europe."
"Europe is, in my opinion, under served, and is a market that is certainly set to explode, we just have to support it."
MumboJumbo plans to do this both on PC and next-generation consoles, with its first Live Arcade title, Luxor 2, due out shortly.
However, it doesn't want to pigeonhole itself for just one service, and is determined to expand its audience across all available platforms, including previously supported PSP and DS.
"Even though we have a great retail presence, we made a push into PSP and DS because we believe it's opening up an audience even further," Jensen added. "That's why we're supporting [new consoles] with our Xbox Live launch, and we're going to be there when we can with Sony and Nintendo."
With UNO continuing to be a best-seller on Live Arcade, it's a convincing argument, especially as publishers continue to make big noises in the sector - such as EA, and Sierra Online.

SCE UK has debunked reports claiming the confirmation of a PSP redesign by SCE boss Ray Maguire yesterday.
Reports claim that Maguire confirmed Sony's intention to release a "smaller, lighter" version of the handheld at the launch event for Sony's PSP in Education initiative yesterday.
But speaking to CVG moments ago, head of PR at SCE UK, David Wilson, said that comments by Maguire had been blown out of proportion.
"There are no immediate changes planned for PSP (other than continued firmware updates)," clarified Wilson in a statement to CVG.
He continued: "But in the longest term, of course we are always looking at ways to continue our platform development, and this normal business practice is what Ray was referring to."
Wilson also pointed out that this was "hardly a revelation" given the company's consistent history of making changes to its hardware: "The way that PS2 moved from full size to 'slim line' was mentioned in this context - but this did take four years," says Wilson.

Epic brutality, sheer evil and visceral combat. That's what THQ's promising for its recently announced Conan game, which can be seen in action in our video player.
Running for just under a minute, the available trailer shows us, among other things, the fantasy hero's flamboyant fighting moves along with a bit of spurting blood and head severing. That barbarian, he's a mean, keen, slicing machine he is.
The game's being developed by Nihilistic Software and is due out on PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2008.

If you're a fan of splashing cars sideways through thick mud then you should be keeping an eye on this beast.
These five new screens, which Sega stresses are in-game, demonstrate some impressive detail in both the cars and the surrounding vegetation, and a whole lot of mud splatter.
Sega says the courses are "fully deformable", meaning that you can cause damage to the scenery and the muddy track itself.
The game will include modern as well as classic rallying motors for you to thrash, either against AI or in multiplayer online.
Sega Rally is set to release on PS3 and Xbox 360 in autumn 2007.

Crush is a PSP platform-puzzle game that finds you squishing a 3D environment into a 2D platforms allowing you access to new areas and solve conundrums.
Once you've made 3D into 2D you then unlock secret items that were previously unobtainable in the 3D environment.
See, it makes your head hurt just thinking about it. Thankfully these new screenshots are easing the pain though.
Crush should be out in the summer.

Crazy Taxi, originally an arcade hit, was one of our favourite games on the Dreamcast, and Sega hopes to miniturise the madness in Crazy Taxy Fare Wars on PSP.
These new images show the nutty yellow cab drivers causing all sorts of trouble in what looks like San Francisco, with the steep hills and trams the city is known for.
Anyone who has played crazy Taxi will know how insanely fast the game is, as you rush around to pick up passengers and deliver them to their destinations, pointed out by the giant arrow at the top of the screen.
In the Dreamcast game, you blasted through restaurants, malls and various other populated areas, smashing through chairs, tables and other parts of the scenery leaving chaos in your wake.
We hope the PSP game can keep up the pace and the chaos with a smooth frame rate. The textures in some of these screens are worryingly blurry, but it's early days yet.
Crazy Taxi Fare Wars is due out in late 2007.

Thanks to Game Developers Conference taking place in San Francisco last week, we were able to score a rare chance to sit down with Koji "IGA" Igarashi, the current producer of the Castlevania series. Though he was more than prepared to discuss the upcoming Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles for the PSP, we managed to tease details on the future of the series, namely its next generation installment, out of him. Keep reading to find out the most comprehensive, up-to-date Castlevania information on the web.
GamesRadar: Earlier at TGS we asked if you'd played God of War and you said that you'd like to challenge it and make an even better game than God of War. Another recent action game that's been really good, which isn't much like Castlevania, is Gears of War. Have you played them, and seen anything in either of those games that could benefit Castlevania?
Koji "IGA" Igarashi: Actually I purchased both of those games and I've been playing [them]. And I've learned a lot from those two games. I will not imitate, because I'm going to be following up these two games, but we'll try to be that good on future Castlevania.
GR: Let's talk a bit about Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles for PSP. What made this the right time to go back to [1993 classic] Dracula X: Rondo of Blood, finally, and remake it and bring it to a new audience?
KI: I have two major reasons to bring this back as a remake.
Number one is that many American fans love [1997 PlayStation classic] Symphony of the Night, but they never experienced the prequel to the game which is Rondo of Blood. So back with Symphony of the Night, the way it starts, is that you see the very end of Rondo of Blood, in the beginning of Symphony of the Night. But for US gamers, it's like, "What? What's that all about?" This Rondo of Blood story was never brought to the US, so we wanted to take this chance to introduce that there was another masterpiece aside from Symphony of the Night.
Among these press interviews that I get, pretty often I was asked about the possible game creation with 3D [character and background graphics] but 2D play. In the past we'd experienced a lot of struggles to overcome, to create 2D gameplay with 3D [character] models. But then again, we have solved major issues, that cleared recently, and we brought 3D models and 2D gameplay, with Rondo of Blood.
Let me add one more reason... one thought is that when we actually started this project, PSP Rondo of Blood, the PSP market was expanding. So we thought it was a good chance to deliver a Castlevania game over PSP.
GR: Are you happy with the performance of 2D gameplay and 3D graphics together? The way it looks, and the way it plays? Does it deliver the quality you expect?
KI: It's better than what I expected, actually. I'm very happy about the quality. Especially with the graphic quality. The PSP hardware system allows a very high resolution, but then again [using] 3D models gives more depth to the visuals so I'm very happy about this.

A post in a forum (that has since been removed) that claimed to have insider knowledge on Grand Theft Auto IV has tipped New York as the city of choice.
With both the Xbox 360 and PS3 releases of Grand Theft Auto IV penned in for October this year, the PR machine is already revving its engine. We reported last month that the first ever trailer of the game will be released to the world wide web at the end of this month on March 29.
Will it be set in New York? The rumour apparently came from someone involved in the music soundtrack of the game, that seemed to be going for a NYC feel.
All eyes on March 29 people. You'll find the trailer here on CVG as soon as it goes live.

God of War II director Cory Barlog has dropped a heavy hint that the PS3 SixAxis will be given a rumble feature in the future.
It's amazing what can come from a launch party of a videogame. 1up reports that Barlog let slip a few interesting things about the future of the God of War series (which will obviously hit PS3 at some point this year or next).
Here's the clip: "Did Barlog just confirm that God of War 3 will be in 1080p with SixAxis and VIBRATION functions on PS3? He sure did! Whoa! Well, technically he didn't confirm GOW3, but he confirmed SixAxis and vibration for the future of God of War."
Whoa(!) indeed.
And on that note, Kotaku reports that Sony is already testing a rumbling SixAxis. It's all pointing in the right direction...

Whatever you might think, PSP has been a success. Nearly 25 million of the sleek gaming portables have been sold since it was first launched in Japan at the end of 2004 .
However, PlayStation Portable could use some work. And, if the recently refuelled rumours of a redesigned PSP 2 are to be believed, Sony knows it.
Certainly here at GamesRadar we reckon PSP hasn't yet reached its full potential. Sony just needs to unlock the handheld's strengths and cut down on the weaknesses. So here are five things that we'd like to see included in a reworked PSP, aimed at improving its gaming credentials.
A better LCD screen
Don't get us wrong - PSP's gorgeous, bright screen still makes us grin like it's Christmas. But PSP's refresh rate (that's the speed it can update the image on screen) leaves something to be desired. With a better refresh rate PSP would lose those ghostly trails, and movies and games would look so pretty we'd doubtless be moved to joyful tears.
Integrated GPS and camera
GPS is cool, it's as simple as that. MGS Portable Ops hinted at the gaming possibilities - though only with the GPS attachment available in America and Japan - and combining GPS positioning with in-game action is exciting. Then, with an inbuilt camera, PSP could feature video-phone and camcorder abilities. Make it so, Sony.
Longer battery life
That whirring UMD guzzles battery power, but we'd expect to see Sony bring its laptop experience to bear in extending PSP's juice use. With DS offering a whopping amount of gaming time from a single charge, making PSP more efficient should be job one if Sony really are planning a new version.
Onboard flash memory
At least 5gb, please. This would stop us needing to buy new, easily-losable memory cards, and we could even see a PS3-insprired feature help with PSP's notorious loading times - if Sony let us upload a chunk of the game onto a PSP's harddrive, we could enjoy commuter gaming without the waiting.
No software restrictions
A real pipedream this, but if it was easier to transfer any kind of movies or footage onto PSP or play 'homebrew' games or software, Sony could turn PSP into a techno-geek's wet dream. Plus, it would mean the less experienced of us would still be able to watch next week's episode of Lost on the way to work.

New screenshots from PSP action game 300: March to Glory have put on their marching boots and marched all over this page. Well, it is March after all.
Influenced by movie 300 in terms of style and feel, the game drops you into the shoes of King Leonidas, who leads 300 Spartans against Xerxes and his gigantic Persian army. As Leonidas, you get to wave shield, sword and spear in threatening manner at the enemy, and we're promised that the action will be an experience of visceral proportions.
