Interesting new project from Ocean19, heres the details:
Figured it was about time to show you guys the project I was working on...
Been giving updates regularly to the Moderators in our private forum, but haven't showed anyone else yet.
Note, It doesn't have PvP battles, and you can't see anyone else on the map moving. However, you can still do many other things.
Some features it has:
"Who's Online" page, along with the latest news.
Your own "Personal Message" (PM) for the game.
Multiple skills to gain (attack defence etc.)
Different races and classes.
Cash, and money that can be earned.
Equips, and other types of game objects.
Reputation points.
The ability to trade other people.
Sell your items.
Drop them on the map, and other people may find them.
Character page, including various statistics (and the option to drink the potion in the beginning, so you can actually move places).
Full chat, located under the "Character" tab.
Travel, to walk around the map. :|
Explore, to enter homes and portals. You can also use this on random map tiles, to gain items sometimes.
Arena, to fight monsters and gain levels + items.
Blacksmith, buy items (weapons, shields, etc.)
Inn, to rest and regain health.
Item + Magic shop (buy things, obviously).
Town Hall, where you can start a guild as soon as you're over level 10 (or join others).
Trade (self explanatory).
Music, an assortment of legal tunes, to further enjoy your online experience.
That's all for now.
I'm going to be implementing a few other things, like high scores, and the PSP only script in the future. I just can't be bothered to right now.
This uses the engine from the PHP game called Phaos. I have gotten permission from Zeke Walker (the maker) to use the source and get it to work perfectly on the PSP.

Clearly due to the current heat on Microsoft concerning the Xbox 360 RROD, disk scratching, and overheating scandals, Sony's Dave Karraker is mooning on the company's official blog over a recent PS3 Vault "stress test" called "How to kill a PS3 console" which showed the company's game system to be surprisingly resilient in the face of extreme conditions. "A lot of noise has been made recently about the reliability issues of one of our competitor's systems," Karraker said, then went on to kick some sand in Redmond's eye by adding "Did it fail? Nope. Like the Energizer Bunny, it kept going and going and going." Admittedly, the tests -- which included running games and Blu-ray movies for 108 hours in a typical "living room" environment, placing the console in a freezer van then lowering the temperature from 50 degrees to zero, and powering the PS3 in a sauna where heat increased from 100 degrees to 120 degrees over a nearly three-day session -- were quite extreme. In the end, however, the testers say besides being "extremely hot" after coming out of the sauna, the system is running fine and back in regular use. Microsoft, the ball's in your court.

Coming exclusively to PS3 this November is Haze, the new shooter up next from Free Radical Design. We've got a bunch of new screens that show off the tricks of the multiplayer game.
Designed as a multiplayer experience first and foremost, the developer's sent over new screens that show you what to expect from the multiplayer game, which the team has big plans for.
As you're probably already seeing, the shots walk you through various features of gameplay that are vital to success. Everything you see here can also be done in the single-player campaign mode. Don't forget to write that down too...
The screens reveal new skills such as overdose, traps, Nectar grenade, Nectar knife, Nectar pack shot, play dead and weapon steal. Browse the shots in the screenshot viewer to your right.
More Haze goodness soon.

We rported last week that a new Aliens/Predator game was heading to PSP, and now we've first screenshots to entertain your eyeballs.
In development at Rebellion - no stranger to the Aliens/Predator license having delivered the excellent Aliens vs. Predator PC FPS - the third-person action-adventure's based on a new Aliens/Predator movie.
You may or may not be disappointed by the fact that you only get to play the Predator, tooled up with his nifty camo and vision tricks and weaponry to splatter humans and aliens.
The game includes a co-op multiplayer mode allowing you and a mate to go Predator and run amok against loads of Aliens.

Sony has responded to reports earlier this week that claimed PS3 is not able to process AI as well as 360.
The PS3-shunning statement supposedly came from a Splinter Cell: Conviction producer, who cited PS3's inferior AI processing as a reason Conviction will never be released on Sony's console.
Naturally, Sony's Dave Karraker disagrees, and has come out to rubbish these claims. "PS3 can more than handle AI," he said, "as you will see with Heavenly Sword, which has hundreds of on-screen enemies with different AI routines at one time thanks to the power of CELL."
A chaotic brawler may not have been the best example, but we find it hard to believe the PS3 has any problems with AI. But then, we don't make games.

has poured cold water on rumours that Rock Band will slip to 2008 outside of the US.
"The Rock Band date still hasn't been set in either the US or UK," a spokesperson told us.
However, it contradicts an earlier comment issued to Gamespot saying, "We don't think [Rock Band] will be released in Q4."
The publisher was speaking in the aftermath of comments made by owner of RedOctane Charles Huang, who told Gamespot it was unlikely the game would launch this Christmas in PAL territories, and expects it to carry an AUD 275 price tag (GBP 114 / EUR 168).
RedOctane is both the publisher of the rival Guitar Hero series and maker of the nifty peripherals, which Activision recently shelled out USD 100 million to acquire.
However, Rock Band is aiming to take the phenomena one step further - allowing us to play lead guitar, bass, drums and sing to the various tracks on screen. Guitar Hero developer Harmonix will be creating it with musical push of MTV and financial backing of EA.

Electronic Arts has defended the performance of the PlayStation 3 version of its forthcoming Madden NFL 08 game.
The latest title in the massively popular sports franchise was described as "sluggish" on the platform, in comparison to the Xbox 360 version which moves "twice as fast."
A statement from the publisher pointed to the relative amount of development time that has so far been available, with the Xbox 360 launched so much earlier.
"In the case of the next-generation consoles, many publishers have been developing titles for the Xbox 360 for over three and a half years while everyone who publishes now for the PlayStation 3 with the exception of Sony has been developing for the PlayStation 3 for only a little over one full year.
"The differences in the overall knowledge of the hardware is vastly different for both consoles and, as is the case with newer technology, it is very difficult to get it right the first time."
The original review in USA Today stated that "On the surface, the releases on 360 and PlayStation 3 look identical."
"However, when you stack them head-to-head, it's clear which is better. Madden on 360 is fast and fluid, thanks to a sharp jump in frame rate that allows the game to move twice as fast."
"PS3 owners, unfortunately, are greeted with a Madden that is sluggish in comparison. Action stutters far too often, particularly on injuries, penalties and turnovers."
Madden NFL 08 was released yesterday in the US, and will be on shelves in the UK on August 24.

via Games Industry
During a session at the Edinburgh Interactive Festival, Mark Rein, vice president of Epic Games, has expressed his appreciation for the extra storage space on Blu-ray discs over the standard DVD format.
Speaking on the forthcoming Unreal Tournament 3 title, which will be released on the PlayStation 3 before the Xbox 360, he warned that "we may have fewer maps on the 360 version…Blu-Ray has definitely given us a lot of legroom."
He went on to add: "If you think down the road, well maybe the next UT beyond this one, on Blu-ray disc, we might fill the whole damn disc with all the cool stuff the mod makers make."
Epic Games' most notable title to date other than the Unreal franchise, is the Xbox 360-exclusive Gears of War.

News/release from theketchupman:
Hello all ! Here's the new version of
PRX Launcher
After some long days of tests, I think we've found a really better PRX Launcher.
New :
Compatible with 3.5x M33, 3.40* and OE.
Note : this has been done to launch the Multi Recovery (see here for more information) but it works with other (and I hope ALL) homebrews. For example, PSP Filer works
Downloads :
in the file, you'll find the prx (in folder flash0), and the Multi Recovery (in ms0). The PRX is for update_plugin, and can launch PSP/GAME/RECO/EBOOT.PBP
You can edit it to launch another folder but you can also wait the next release
Ketchup, for the team Vertex Origin
Note : it seems that you need to be in kernel 1.50

News/release from NephilimNX
ThemePlus! v1.01 - Plugin for CFW 3.x
-------------------------------------
New Feature
-----------
- Method to change wallpaper every boot has been added (see How To Use #5)
Current Features
----------------
- Wallpaper changes daily
- PSP will randomly select an image from 'ms0:\seplugins\themeplus \images\' folder
- Any number of images, BMP or JPG, can be used as long as your memory stick can support it
- Plugin is safe 100%, every errors it encounters will be logged in 'ms0:\seplugins\themeplus \error.log' file
Version History
---------------
v1.01 (8/13/2007) - Method to change wallpaper every boot has been added (see How To Use #5)
v1.00 (8/12/2007) - First release
Introduction
------------
Do you have alot of wallpapers to show-off? Do you want them to be displayed randomly everyday? Worry no more! ThemePlus! is here! If you download now, this plugin will run everytime your PSP boots up. If it detects that your existing wallpaper is one day old, it will select another wallpaper randomly from your images folder and display it in NO TIME!!! So what are you waiting for?! Download now!
BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!!! I'm also considering to release a gameboot version of ThemePlus!. What it does is everytime you run a game, it changes your gameboot randomly (daily or every run). Pretty much like becus25's rGameboot except:
- Unlimited gameboots (rGameboot is fixed with 3 gameboots only)
- Flashes the gameboots to Flash1 instead of Flash0. Since Flash1 is used to being updated everytime you change your settings, so its much more safe to flash the gameboots in Flash1.
- Downside? You have to decrypt and hex-edit your opening_plugin.prx to change the gameboot location from 'Flash0:/vsh/resource/gameboot.pmf' to 'Flash1:/vsh/resource/gameboot.pmf'.
How this plugin works?
----------------------
- This plugin will run every time your PSP boots up
- It will compare the PSP's current system date/time with the creation/modification date of your existing wallpaper file
- Note: The wallpaper file's creation/modification date is updated everytime you change your wallpaper
- If wallpaper file's creation/modification date is atleast 1 day older from the PSP's current system date/time, the plugin will replace the existing wallpaper with a new one randomly from your images folder on memory stick
How To Use
----------
1. Extract the contents of ThemePlus_v1_01.rar and copy all the contents of the folder MS_ROOT to the root of your memory stick
2. Create/edit your 'ms0:\seplugins\vsh.txt' and include 'ms0:\seplugins\themeplus .prx'
3. Open and edit the file 'ms0:\seplugins\themeplus \timezone.ini' and modify it based on your PSP's timezone.
Eg., If your PSP's timezone is -08:30, modify the contents with '-8:30' (without quotes). If it is +08:00, you can just simply replace it with '8', '8:00', or '+08:00' (without quotes). This is necessary to sync the timezone with the PSP's timezone since there's a problem getting the correct timezone in vsh plugin.
4. Add/remove images from 'ms0:\seplugins\themeplus \images\'. The plugin accepts .BMP and .JPG image files. You can also put any number of image files.
5. (v1.01 only) To change your wallpaper 'every boot' instead of 'daily', just rename or delete 'ms0:\seplugins\themeplus \timezone.ini'. If the plugin does not find that file, your wallpaper will be changed every boot.
NOTE: If you feel that this plugin is not working, check the file 'ms0:\seplugins\themeplus \error.log' for error details. In that file you'll know if the plugin has encounterered errors or running fine.
