Brunni has posted an entry in the Neoflash Coding contest:
It's a Game Boy emulator for PSP. It allows you to fully recolor your games, not only by selecting one palette for the whole screen, but by recoloring each object on the screen! Here are examples of what you could do:
And you don't need to be a programmer, there's no romhacking (you keep using the original ROM) and it works for nearly all existing games.
MasterBoy also emulates the Game Boy Color, Master System and Game Gear. The SMS/GG emulation is based on MMSPlus, and has been improved a lot since then.
The official page is: http://brunni.dev-fr.org/index.php?p...soft_masterboy
Here you'll find the latest updates and documentation on how to colorize your games. Especially, the current method is quite complicated, you can wait for me to write a tutorial on how to do it with PSPLink.
Other features:
* Rich interface with discrete effects, redefinable shortcuts and buttons (with autofire feature). Also it's fully skinnable.
* Manage and sort your favorites folders and files to acces them easily.
* Integrated music player supporting GYM and VGM formats.
* Several display options like Gamma and Color Vibrance, which allows you to choose how colored you want your display to be.
* Z80 under/overclocker: allow you to correct games that are often slowing down or displaying glitchy / blinking sprites.
* Some improvements over MMSPlus in the SMS/GG part:
- Speed up. Now 16-bit render mode is enabled by default. You can revert to 8-bit if you want, and it will run even faster.
- Compatibility issues
- Better country detection (now nearly all games should detect the country correctly and not play too fast anymore).
- The bar at the left of the screen can be automatically hidden (depending whether the game is actually using it or not)
Here are some videos:

Super Mario Land 2 by Yodajr:

- have a smooth scrolling
- have a double page mode (in this mode, 2 page are show at the same time, the previous one and the actual one, usefull for the titles or action page wich use 2 pages)
- have precaching of next image
- can listen your MP3
- have 2 profile for keys
- have a light eboot (only 600Ko ^^)
and have a nice interface

So by now you've heard that Paramount has dropped support for Blu-ray right? Good, so has a notable Hollywood director. Michael Bay -- the man behind "Transformers," "Bad Boys," "Pear Harbor," etc. -- just threw down with Paramount in his personal blog. In a forum post titled "Paramount pisses me off!", he states, "I want people to see my movies in the best formats possible. For them to deny people who have Blu-ray sucks! They were progressive by having two formats. No Transformers 2 for me!" That's right Mike, aim your PS3 right at their coffers!

News/release from 3rch4mp1:
Changelog
---------
0.2 Version
-----------
-Added the Black Screen Mode, it turns off your PSP Screen, and if you press
buttons it will remain black, useful when listening songs
-Fixed the compatibility bugs which lead te system to a crash with the latest
M33 Firmaware updates
-Some of the key combinations were changed in order to be more compatible with
the latest M33 updates, and by popular demand with Wildcard Firmwares too
Plugin Features
---------------
This plugin has been designed and coded to optimize the energy consumption of
the PSP while we stay in the XMB.
This plugin has 4 main functions described here.
-Music Mode: To activate this mode you have to press L+R, this performs an
underclock to 60Mhz for the CPU and 30 Mhz for the main system bus, suitable
to listen to your Mp3 and even ATRAC music files. Pressing again L+R will set
the CPU/Bus speeds to the ones you had previously configured.
-ToggleIdle: This mode disables the autoidle feature of the console (not of the screen)
this mode can be toggled on/off by pressing R+START, useful when watching pictures of any kind
(even porn! xD).
-PowerLock: Pressing R+NOTE you will block the console power switch in order to prevent an accidental
turn off of the system, if you toggled it on and you attempted to turn off the console it will simply
don't, but when you unlock it, the console automatically will turn off (if you did not touch the power switch
it will unlock but it won't turn off the system).
-Black Screen Mode: Pressing L+START we turn off the PSP Screen until we press L+START again, the screen
will turn on and set itself with the previous brightness level we had. Useful used toghether with Music Mode
it can save you a lot of battery!
-Software full power off: Pressing R+SELECT, the system will turn off totally, this feature was too easy to
implement, I lef this here because you liked it, and if it is useful to someone I won't remove it.
To prevent issues like console hang ups, execute all the modes in the root of the XMB.
Suggestions, bug reports and new features to implement are welcome, leave me them in this post or better
in my devblog at http://erchampi.wordpress.com
Don't forget to leave me a greeting for my birthday in August 24 it's the only thing I demand from you!

Some golfers want to go green with solar-powered golf carts, but this Golf Launchpad lets you hit the greens without even leaving your house. The $450 input device works with either the PC or Sony's PlayStation 2 and has a regulation golf ball attached to it that feels like the real thing.
When you smack or putt that ball with your own clubs, the system can tell exactly how hard you hit it, and in which direction it would have traveled. Then it translates that information into something your copy of Tiger Woods PGA Tour can understand. You'd better have high ceilings, though, because with a standard 8-foot height you won't be able to use clubs much longer than a 6-iron.

No longer are you forced to break open a PS2 to solder a modchip in or swap off the top for the disc switching method to play "homebrew" games on Sony's previous-gen console. The Vast memory card modchip, coming in two weeks, is a plug-and-play only device that lets you bypass the PlayStation 2's security by just sticking it into the memory card slot. The OS boots any PS2, and then launches your copied homebrew games after.

Via M33 Forums comes a new version of the Custom Firmware for the PSP, Heres the details:
Spread this news
IMPORTANT: agree with LICENSE.TXT conditions before installing the program.
Changes in M33-4 (mainly bugfix)
- Fixed the bug that caused CRC error when writing to flash usb in the XMB. Now writing
is OK.
- Added the new speeds to vshmenu and core, because we forgot in recovery.
AS we didnn't want to release a new update without something new, we worked in making
3.10/3.11 to work with popsloader, and that's it, the new popsloader plugins supports them.
Instruction for 3.10 and 3.11 are same as 3.30: you need pops.prx, popsman.prx and pafmini.prx
with the correct names in popsloader directory. And remember that savedata of 3.10-3.30 are incompatible
with those of 3.40+. We'll research if a solution for this is possible.
Team M33
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As for yankee paranoids, a little word about the "brickers" issue.
We repeat it again: THERE IS NO MALICIOUS CODE inside M33.
Some of the files of this update are protected by encryption schemes to protect ourselves
from that page that annoys homebrew developers.
The keys for the decryption: the own update file.
So if the file is changed, the decrypted data is not the original one, and this causes the
wrong data to be written. There is no way you can call this malicious code as there is no explicit
code to brick nothing, it is the corruption of the update what actually causes the bad decrypted
data to be written.
Anyways in this update we check if decrypted data is wrong and in that case we write a recovery
warning the user what happened. It will activate usb, and it will allow you to execute a recovery
eboot.pbp... in a curious path ("ms0:/PSP/GAME/PS3NEWS_ARE_STEALERS_I_AM_NOT_GONNA_VISIT_THEM/EBOOT.PBP")
which is not at sight of an hex editor
If you visited ps3news and bricked in last release, then blame his administrator.
He is the one that modified the files and had them in the server for lots of hours
knowing the consequences.
Spread this news
We (DCEmu) warned users that some people were getting bricked because the had visted ps3new.com, and advisted you to clear you cach before upgrading, it turns out we were wrong and it was only users that had downloaded from ps3news.com that were getting brick (and know we know why).
We would like to apologise to M33 and our readers for that incorrect warning.
but as always: Update at your own risk, we are not responsible to what happens to your psp using this!

After months of reports proving that Blu-ray sells more movies than HD-DVD, Paramount's parent company Viacom has announced that they are dropping Blu-ray support and going HD-DVD exclusive. According to Viacom, they made this decision based on researching the benefits of HD-DVD, which "confirmed the clear benefits of HD DVD." Some of the benefits of HD-DVD that they mentioned included lower sales, a much smaller user base, and limited storage space (okay okay, they actually said 'market ready technology' and 'lower manufacturing costs').
There are rumors of a 150 million dollar payout by the HD-DVD consortium to nab the Viacom exclusivity, which sure would help explain the move more than the officially given reasons. Regardless, we now can look at the format-war that nobody wanted getting strung out even longer. Yay -- thanks Viacom.

via PS3 Fanboy
While at Sony's 3Rooms brand space in London today we had some hands-on time with Folklore and Eye of Judgment (more on those later today). We also saw a couple of things we didn't expect to see, including a PS3 attached to a PlayStation Eye running a game we haven't seen before. Trials of Topoq is a "run the ball through the level" game which reminded us of Kula World on the PS1.
The game requires you to move the ball around the different layers of each castle, breaking open cages as you go. Each level has a different task, including getting to the end within a time limit and breaking a certain amount of cages before reaching the finish line. Crossbows can be found around the levels which, when the ball is rolled into it, will shoot you to a hidden area of the level.
The ball is not moved via the analogue stick, nor the SIXAXIS. Instead, the floor of the castle shows an image of what the PlayStation Eye can see. By moving your arms (or any other part of you, really) you affect the height of the floor temporarily. The idea is to create slopes to guide the ball around and collect the items (or "smash the cages" as the game calls it) whilst making yourself look like a prat in the process.
We snapped a few photos of the game in action, check out the gallery below to see all three. There's no word on whether the game will come bundled with the PlayStation Eye, sold separately or be downloadable. No doubt we'll hear more at Leipzig.
