Peter Edward, director of the Home platform for Sony, has told an audience at the Edinburgh Interactive Festival that users who consistently abuse the upcoming Home service face having their machines banned and disabled from being used online.
In an admittedly radical but possible step, Edward noted that a serious abuser would "have to move house and buy a new PS3 before they could get online again."
Edward was discussing supervising the Home environment, although Sony doesn't intend to become a "virtual police" force. Instead, it will be providing different areas within Home depending on the age of the user, helping to apply appropriate non-game branding for products such as cigarettes and alcohol.
"Ultimately we know a users details, we know machine details and we know where they live," said Edward
"If you really feel like you've been abused or that someone has just shown wholly inappropriate behaviour then you are able to complain about it. If you really, really misbehave you can have your console disconnected at a machine level, so you would actually have to move house and buy a new PS3 before you could get online again.
"Clearly that's not something we would want to be doing very often but as a disincentive to mess round too much it's in our power," he admitted.
Rather, Sony expects players to police themselves and other users, taking advantage of various methods for blocking communication with any users that are disruptive.
"It's a hard line to draw because we don't want to be walking around telling everyone off for saying 'bloody' so we've got to strike a balance there," said Edward.
"We're going to be relying on users assessing what's appropriate to them – if they've been subject to behaviour they don't like they can complain about it rather than we walk around as virtual police."
With a presentation featuring potential branding from Durex, Marlboro and Bacardi, Edward said that it's not Sony's intention to offer a sanitised experience, and that more mature gamers can expect to see the same products advertised online as in the real world.
"It's relatively simple to be confident that somebody is over 18. So it's no problem to have areas that are only open to those aged 18 years' and over. We are able to do that quite comprehensively, we have access to the log-in data that they use for the PlayStation Network," offered Edward.
"Undoubtedly there are going to be some things and some brands that we are not going to want to be involved in the environment at any stage.
"But a large proportion of our demographic is over 18 so we will make a point of catering to that demographic – we certainly don't want to dumb everything down to the lowest common denominator," he said.

So, Conviction is confirmed for PC and Xbox 360. But what about the other consoles? Double Agent was a 360 exclusive for a whole week. On this issue, Danny could give us a firm answer. “It’s NEVER gonna come out on the PS3 or the Wii.” It’s a logical decision. Nintendo’s console simply doesn’t have the graphical horsepower, and he candidly told us how the PS3 can’t handle AI nearly as well as the 360.

Im guessing they say this because they are crippled by only 256MB of ram on both.

News/release from Weltall:
Here it is a new version of cwcheat: 0.1.9 REVB
This version discontinues the homebrew prx which is now useless as the proper modality of startup is automatically recognised and the prx starts in homebrew
mode for VSH, 1.50/3.x Homebrews and official demos.
You may still press R during reboot to force homebrew mode and L to force cwcheat to exit immediately.
Other fixes are regard the db loading function with irshell which didn't seem to like the space of 128kb
alloched for them so now it's build alloches kb which worked fine with 3.61.
Last two thing were an additional check for usermode threads which should fix games like "ghoul and gobling" and brave story (altough this always worked fine for me), and the switch to gcc 4.1.0
Enjoy
0.1.9 REV.B RELEASE
=====================
- [DB DOWNLOADER] Updated the db download to work with the new server
- [GAME] added another check in the thread suspension runtimes to increase compatability with games in some cases
(should fix ghoul and globin and brave story for those with that problem, altough it always worked fine for me)
- [IRSHELL] reduced the space alloched to db loading function to half (64KB). This will slow down db loading but should
improve compatibility with irshell.
- [GAME] The game prx can be now used either in 1.5x 3.x homebrews, games and 3.x vsh without problems. it will
automatically select if it has to start in homebrew or game mode. You can still force homebrew mode by using
R during bootup or disable completely cwcheat by using L during bootup.
The only difference in the homebrew prx now is the different config file. If no one really needs it i'm going
to remove the homebrew build with the different config file in the next release.
- [ALL] fixed a little glitch in the goto function about the y position in the memory editor.
- [ALL] built with gcc 4.1.0

Hi Guys,
Here is the release of Time Baby V5 with my first World Time Clock.
You can move a crosshair around a world time zone map to see the time
anywhere in the world. The feature has pixel perfect detection of the time zone.
YouTube Video:
This is also the first official implementation of the GPS time set mode.
This version can set the internal PSP time clock to the time aquired
from a serial GPS mouse. Great for MapThis! users who have one set up.
There is a major bugfix to the Moon phase routine in this release which
addresses a problem that is present in all previous Time Baby releases.
Cheers, Art.

This is a painfully slow Nintendo DS emulator for Sony PSP. It's completely useless for playing games and unless you are a coder or just want to show off a DS game running on PSP at a few frames per second, don't even bother.
I made some minor changes to SofiyaCat's release:
- Made sound optional
- Added controls
- Enabled FPS counter
- Forced PSP CPU to 333Mhz
- Added exit callback
It would require a major rewrite to get over 20 FPS and someone with much more skill, knowledge and time than I have.
Controls:
CIRCLE = A
CROSS = B
SELECT = Select
START = Start
DOWN = Right
UP = Left
RIGHT = Up
LEFT = Down
RTRIGGER = R / toggle touch
LTRIGGER = L
TRIANGLE = X
SQUARE = Y
Analog nub for moving touch position but I didn't bother to add a cursor. The Table Hockey Tech Demo has a cursor built in, so you can "play" it at around 3 FPS.
1.5 firmware:
Copy __SCE__DeSmuME_Useless and %__SCE__DeSmuME_Useless to ms0:/psp/game
3.x M33 firmware:
Copy DesmuME_Useless folder to ms0:/psp/game
NDS file must be named test.nds and in the same folder as eboot.pbp
You don't need any bios files.
Credits:
YopYop156, evilynux and DeSmuME team for creating this DS emulator
SofiyaCat/NekoMiMi for porting DeSmuME to Sony PSP
Everyone who contributed to the PSP toolchain/libs and anyone else I forgot
Sektor for creating the Useless Edition fork (modified main.c and ctrlssdl.c)
Links:
SofiyaCat's site has been removed
Sektor's site: http://GTAMP.com/PSP
Compatibility listing here. Many games won't even start and the ones that do start take minutes to load. It's too slow to be any fun.

So we hear that there's this game coming out this week. "Madden" we think it's called. It's supposed to be a pretty big deal. It better be, as it's the only game we're going to see released until the end of this month. Full release list is as follows:
US Games
EU Games
Asian Games
Don't forget, non-American American football fans, PS3s are region free. So feel free to import this game like crazy, if you want. Release dates are constantly subject to change, so call ahead before wasting a trip to the shops.

via Eurogamer
Sony Europe has kept its lips sealed over the release date of Gran Turismo 5 in Europe, following news that the racing game is expected in Japan next July.
The target date was let slip by game creator Kazunori Yamauchi, who told Japanese magazine Famitsu he hoped to have it ready by next summer. Given that previous instalments have taken around three to four months longer to appear in Europe, it might not show up here until 2009.
But at least we'll have the Gran Turismo 5 Prologue demo to sink our teeth into sometime this year, although when exactly is still undecided - Japan will have it in October.
It will be a similar affair to the Gran Turismo HD Concept taster we were treated to in March, which let us try out the engine under the hood of the new instalment and race a spattering of cars around a single track. We expect it will also be free to download, too, when the time comes.
Unfortunately concrete details on what will be in it are scarce, but online play has been mentioned.
We'll let you know when so much as a tire squeals.

In 1996, the original Tomb Raider was launched. The 3D game design, controls and graphics were truly ground breaking for their time. Furthermore, gamers were also presented with a unique, female human playable character with which they could become emotionally attached, Lara Croft. The original Tomb Raider sold over seven million copies and is still heralded as an absolute classic and one of the best action adventure games ever. Tomb Raider defined the PlayStation and changed the way that people played games.
In tribute to this and to celebrate and commemorate the continuing development of the Tomb Raider franchise and its central character, Crystal Dynamics are developing a new Tomb Raider adventure for Lara. Inspired by the original Tomb Raider video game; Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Anniversary faithfully preserves the elements which made the original Tomb Raider game such a classic.
Using an enhanced 'Tomb Raider: Legend' game engine, the graphics, technology and physics bring Lara's adventure and pursuit of a mystical artefact known only as the Scion right up to today's technology standards and will offer gamers a completely new gameplay experience.

News/release from Phantom Fighter:
Ultima VII. One of the best CRPGs that has inspired or influenced most modern CRPGs. What happens when a golden oldie meets one of the hottest gaming handhelds in modern history? You get to relive a classic in style.
Introducing a port of Exult to the Playstation Portable platform, a framework that allows you to play Ultima VII: The Black Gate / Forge of Virtue as well as Serpent Isle / The Silver Seed.
It took a bit of wrangling and there were bumps along the way, but here it is, playable. We also made some cosmetic updates; I pixeled a few bits of custom graphics for an interface and illustrated a background for the PSP EBOOT and Chemical crafted a swank new logo for us and put together our online home to make the experience that much more enjoyable for you folks out there. ExultPSP isn't perfect, however. It wasn't written with the PSP in mind, so there is one remaining issue, namely memory consumption; I ironed out as many problems as I could, but Exult has quite the appetite for memory which slowly increases and increases as you play. Eventually, the PSP will be able to provide no more, resulting in a crash (it will however let you know that it has run out of memory). So you'll have to save your game occasionally. Despite this, you should be able to get decent stretches of gameplay before this happens. Another issue that snuck up on me is that Serpent Isle isn't playable in this public release. Rest assured this will be remedied in the next release. One final important note, do not suspend your PSP while ExultPSP is playing. I haven't yet accounted for sleep mode, and doing so will wipe out critical memory - I don't want to guess what kind of catastrophe can ensue because of it. Just quit ExultPSP before you shut off or suspend. Make sure you read the included readme text for all the info you need to get this up and running on your Playstation Portable!
And with that, I hope you Ultima fans of old and those new to this game enjoy this offering, as much as we had making it happen. My thanks to Chemical and the testers for their encouragement and support, as well as the Exult Team who deserve the reverence. Ultima VII truly is a remarkable game that has stood the test of time. Enjoy the Adventure that awaits!
