EyeToy Play is receiving a new addition in Astro Zoo, which is heading to PS2 this November.
EyeToy Play Astro Zoo finds you trying to catch animals that have escaped from a space zoo and also fixing the zoo, as it's been hit by a comet. Whoops. Sony describes it as a physically active game, which in addition to the main event features plenty of mini-games.

At Games Convention this afternoon Epic Games demonstrated Unreal Tournament III PS3's new SixAxis controls - and they look to work really well.
The death-dealing superweapon, The Redeemer is now controlled in camera mode by tilting the PS3 pad from side to side - which in our demonstration looked to work without a hitch. Similarly, hoverboard controls now work using the tilt capabilities of the PS3, twisting the pad to perform spins and tricks.
The console version itself is looking in great shape; the version we saw today was running at a solid 60fps and looked near-identical with the PC counterpart, which was also running side by side. Mouse and keyboard support is also confirmed, although Epic wouldn't say anything when we quized them about crossplatform play.
An Xbox 360 version is due out sometime next year, although Epic says it's currently concentrating on getting it out on PS3 and PC before Christmas.

Can Sony transpose the awesomeness of the God of War series on PS2 to PSP? Well, let's hope so.
God of War: Chains of Olympus is due out early next year. Here's the scoop on the plot: the story takes place after Kratos is deceived into killing his own wife and children by Ares.
Renouncing Ares and now known as the 'Ghost of Sparta', he enters the service of the other Olympian Gods seeking absolution from his sins. The game itself begins with a desperate defence of Attica against the might of the Persian army.

WipEout in 1080p on PS3 running at 60 frames per second? Yep, that's what you'll get with WipEout HD, which will be downloadable from the PlayStation Store toward the end of the year.
Pass mince pies over four new screenshots that have been released in Leipzig.
WipEout HD features a selection of the best tracks taken from previous versions of the franchise, "meticulously crafted and fully reworked to showcase the processing power of PS3", says Sony.
It'll support Sixaxis and feature eight-player online racing too.

These Littlebigplanet screens hot from the Leipzig Games Convention show off how the customisation options will allow you to make all manner of obstacles in your own levels.
Creativity is the key feature of the quirky, physics-based platform puzzle game, giving you seemingly total freedom to make whatever you can think of using the simple blocks and objects. You'll then be able to upload these levels to the internet for others to play.

We got hands-on with Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed at this year's E3 and found it very enjoyable, so don't be concerned by reports you may have read or heard on the game not living up to hopes. Have some new screenshots.
So the game's plot goes, it's 1191, the climax of the Third Crusade, and our hero Altair and his brethren are attempting to stop what they see as an unjust war between the Christian Crusaders and the Muslim Saracens. And their method of preventing more rhesus positive being spilt across the Holy Land is a series of brutal and targeted political assassinations on both sides. The idea being that the deaths of these nine war profiteers will bring peace to the region.

EA is making a big splash with FIFA 08 by letting ten people connect online to play a single match of FIFA 08. The new feature won't be available at launch though, it'll ship as a free download "six to eight weeks" after the game ships this October.
Coming under the moniker 'Be A Pro: Online Team Play' EA says this is the big new evolution of football games.
"Our dream is to create a full 11 versus 11 online gameplay experience in which each user will have a set position during the match and train specifically for that position," said Joe Booth, producer of FIFA 08. "Be A Pro is the first step in this direction, and now, with the ability to deliver five versus five online gameplay as free downloadable content, we are moving even closer towards the realization of this dream."
Andrew Wilson, executive producer of FIFA 08, added, "Be A Pro forces you to think and react like a professional player where you experience the whole range of emotions players go through during the course of a game. Now we are taking this experience online for you to share with your friends. You will have to learn to work together as a team much like any real teams go through in order to be successful."

Sony has unveiled the next-generation of Buzz! quiz games in its Games Convention 2007 conference.
Dubbed Buzz! Quiz TV, its main attraction will be the integration of the PlayStation Network, effectively opening the game up to you lot, the community.
So, you'll be able to play people from all over the world rather than your slightly-too-clever flatmate, on your own, or in teams - just like on Family Fortunes.
The Network will also open up limitless content for you to download and expand your game with. We're told the closest comparison is to imagine the previous PS2 suite of games all rolled in to one gigantic offering, and you'll be able to break it up into themed-chunks or any way you like.
And when you get the point you feel you are the best and most knowledgeable person around, then you can write, upload, and share your own content. Yours and everyone else's questions will be available on community site MyBuzz, which will link directly to the game and by playable in the Buzz Studio area. You can do it all on your PC, too, before transferring it through your console.
What it all means is that the questions will never dry up, essentially meaning developer Relentless will never have to make another Buzz game to house new questions. Lazy! Oops, they'll get me. Better talk about next-generation graphics, lovely audio, new games, modes, better jokes from Buzz, high-definition Rose. And a new style wireless buzzer? No news just yet.

There are a shocking number of awesome games coming out this Christmas, so it's definitely good for your wallet that Dark Sector will miss the festive season, with its UK release on PS3 and 360 set for January 22.
Dark Sector looks great. The sinister third-person action game packs a moody atmosphere and the intriguing, power-absorbent, triple-bladed glaive puts a unique twist on the fighting and puzzles.
"We loved the camera in Resident Evil 4, and it's a really well paced game too so that was a really huge influence," product manager, Josh Austin, told CVG earlier this year. "The other major influence for Dark Sector was Zelda, for the puzzles and for another example of great pacing," he added - a surprising influence for such a gory game.

Either someone at the BBC has an inside source – replete with trench coat, fake mustache, and comically inverted newspaper – or they've been reading Joystiq and assembling the clues to paint a not altogether surprising portrait of Sony's Leipzig Game Convention keynote. The Beeb says Sony are on the cusp of unveiling a tuner "that will allow the recording and playback of digital TV." Of course, this is similar to remarks made by Sony's Warwick Light who said they're going "to release a digital tuner for the PS3, turning it into a programmable TV recorder."
The BBC also expects Sony to give more details about their PSP video download service developed with Sky in the UK, which we learned about last month and to deliver more details on the PSP's VoIP and instant messaging system being developed along with BT in the UK. Are these the fireworks David Reeves promised? Well, they didn't know about the DualShock 3 that's expected to unveiled today, so perhaps there are more fireworks in store.

New screenshots from Free Radical's shooter Haze to blast out of this week's Games Convention in Leipzig show a hefty dose of four-player co-op action, in addition to the game's single-player mode. Check them out.
Haze is set in a near-future where the government has outsourced military operations to private multinational corporations. In single-player mode, you take on the role of Jake Carpenter, a soldier who works for the Mantel Corporation, which means he has access to high-tech vehicles, kick-ass weapons and performance enhancing bio-medical support.
The new co-op screens released show the mode from both the side of the game's Mantel faction and the Rebel faction.
Haze is exclusive to PS3 this year, and will release on PC and Xbox 360 some time in 2008.

The original Operation Flashpoint military sim, as we all know, proved a big hit on PC and now Codemasters is beavering away on the official sequel.
The first Op Flashpoint 2 trailer has been released, along with new 'screenshots' - which are actually taken from the trailer.
Operation Flashpoint 2: Dragon Rising - to give the sequel its full name - is set on an oil-rich island located off the eastern coast of Russia, north of Japan. "The defining feature of Operation Flashpoint 2 will be the scale of the warfare, which will be unprecedented in first-person shooters," Codemasters has promised.
It's due on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 next year.

Sony has detailed a range of rich features for the PlayStation Portable, all due to launch in Europe early next year.
Fleshing out previously announced deals with BT, Sky and sat-nav specialists TeleAtlas and NavNGo, the new functions all appear under the Go! branding.
The Go! Video Download Service will be offered to UK and Ireland consumers first, with Sky promising a range of sports, movie, entertainment and music programming, as well as third-party programming – marking the first time Sky has offered content through a non-Sky branded service.
Consumers will be able to access content via WiFi direct to their PSP.
PSP users with a headset and the Go! Cam will be able to make use of the Go! Messenger service developed in conjunction with BT, offering video calls, instant messaging, voice chat and voice messaging for the handheld.
Go! Messenger will also launch in Europe early next year, allowing over 8.5 million users across the SCEE regions to communicate for free with each other, via any wireless broadband connection.
The third feature detailed at today's conference is Go! Explore, a satellite navigation package for the PSP. Using a GPS receiver and maps on UMD, the service will offer 3D city maps for pedestrian and in-car users, as well as supporting 11 audio languages.
Seven geographic versions are confirmed so far: UK and Ireland, Iberia, France, Germany/Austria/Switzerland, Italy, Benelux and Scandinavia.

Sonic Rivals 2, like the original, blends classic-style Sonic platforming with racing as you sprint through high-speed levels to reach the end before your opponent.
We're loving the colourful 3D graphics that not only look brilliant on the PSP screen, but make for some interesting level design as Sonic wings through twirling corkscrews, while the camera swoops round to keep him in view.
As well as improved power-ups and new levels, the new game will boast a brand new Battle mode allows two players to jump into six different multiplayer challenges by sharing just one disc using the PSP system's Wi-Fi functionality.
Sonic Rivals 2 is slated for a November release.

Sony has announced PlayTV for the PlayStation 3, allowing users to watch, pause and record live TV, with the software set to launch in Europe early next year.
PlayTV will feature two high-definition TV tuners, both of which will be able to view, record and play free TV channels, as well as offering standard definition support.
Using the PlayStation Portable's Remote Play features, users will also be able to watch live TV and record TV programmes remotely on the PSP via a WiFi connection.
The service will first be available in the UK, France, Italy, Germany and Spain, with other PAL territories to follow later in the year.
"The introduction of PlayTV really will extend the already broad entertainment credentials of PS3, and makes it an exceptionally attractive proposition for the whole family," commented David Reeves, president of SCEE.
"With the introduction of PlayTV’s state of the art TV tuner and PVR functionality, PS3 is now the best choice of home entertainment hub for the whole family."
Sony is promising PlayTV will be user friendly, allowing for recordings of an entire TV series at the touch of a button, along with a seven day electronic programming guide.
The company has also said it will be "future proof", with new features added and updated via the PlayStation Network.

CVG has heard whispers from the Leipzig Games Convention show floor that Sony plans to speak about a rumble-enabled SixAxis during its press conference a 5pm (GMT) today.
It's been strongly rumoured today that the new rumbling SixAxis is near-enough ready for release, and will be compatible with Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, which is out in Japan in October, suggesting shaking pads could go on sale before Christmas.
This rumour is further supported by the main image (pictured) on the official Japanese GT5 Prologue website, which mysteriously places below a car the dark outline of a PlayStation controller.
There's no visual evidence that it's anything other than the usual SixAxis, but why would Sony put that there if there wasn't something significant about the controller itself?
Sit tight - we'll be at Sony's conference with our typing fingers poised for action. Check back at 5pm.

We happened to be walking by the Sony booth, the massive Sony booth, this morning when they were rehearsing part of their press conference. In particular they were showing a slide that read PSP Video Download Service. Unfortunately, we didn't hear any particulars, but they did go on to say something about an upcoming FIFA tournament for the PS3 and I believe that the head of the FIFA might actually take the stage later today to talk details.
The press conference starts at 6:15 p.m. local time, which is 12:15 Eastern time, I believe. No clue if we will be able to liveblog it, but we will certainly strive to get the details up asap.
